Free Panda SVG

I am a sucker for cute and cuddly things and this adorable panda is no exception. I have been enthralled with pandas since as long as I can remember. From their black and white color to those cute raccoon eyes, everything about them is just adorable. So I figured I just had to surprise all of you wonderful paper crafters with a freebie of one of my favorite animals the panda. Do you also share my love of panda bear? Another great thing about these is that they can be used for so much more than just cupcake toppers. They are so cute I might just use them as embellishments on my next scrapbooking layout or card. I also thing they would make great tags for other edible goodies like cake pops, hand dipped pretzel sticks or attached to a lemonade straw.

These printable cupcake toppers will come in a PDF file with a sheet of 12 circular cupcake toppers. They should be easy to cut and you may be able to use a circle punch to punch them out if you have one.

I started my July Fourth crafting binge with a Fourth of July scrapbook layout using the Declaration line from Pink Paislee. I received some sheets of paper from this line during the pink paislee warehouse sale. I just love warehouse sales don’t you? It is the cutest line of fourth of july themed goodies. They even have a great project inspiration booklet that you can find here. It is completely free to download so check it out.

On to the actual scrapbooking layout.

So much fun stuff in this pack. I made some simple flower embellishments with one of the designer papers and some button stacks with twine. I also added bling, stickers, twine, clothesline pins and a handmade hat pin. I apologize for the lack of photo on the layout, I am one of those people that likes seeing layouts with photos but I just couldn’t wait until the Fourth of July to share this scrapbooking layout.

So what are your plans for Fourth of July? Do you take a family vacation every year or just stay at home and relax? I usually stay at home and then go on vacation a week or so after the Fourth of July so that I can avoid all of the travelers during that particular week.

Homemade Distress Ink Blending Tools

The tools is basically a small block of wood that I attached a piece of foam and some velcro to. I used the actual blending pads that were made for distress inks. This made it much easier for me to keep all of my distress inks organized. I hated having to change the blending pads all the time, I would constantly lose them or forget the color that was on them. I believe the total that I spend to make the tools (not including the blending pads) was around $6.

I also did a video explaining the block in a video that you will find below. The end of the video where I show my distress ink drawer gets a little shaky, sorry for that! I’m not used to holding the camera. I usually have it mounted on a tripod so I don’t have to worry about it. Of course, if you have any questions at all about the blending tools or any products I used please don’t hesitate to ask me.

Handmade ombre greeting card tutorial

I chose to use two blues in the video tutorial but I think this would look great blending two different colors as well. Here I blended together blue and green to create the ombre background on this greeting card.

Since the distress ink palette comes in such a wide variety of colors you can really choose any color under the rainbow to blend. I would love to see a pink and orange card done in this style. You can use other inks that are not distress inks. Stampin Up Pads would work great as well using a sponge. All you need to do is tape down your card surface and start adding your colors. Start from the top and work your first color a little more than half way down the background. Do the same thing with your second card but start from the bottom and add color until you get to the first color then blend together until you achieve the desired effect.

Happily Ever After SVG

This cute happily ever after title would look great on princess pages and on disney themed pages as well. I love die cut titles don’t you? And I love layered SVG’s that can be used for more than one thing. Does anyone else mix and match their SVG files or is that just me? It is a great way to get custom die cuts that no one else has.

Colorful scrapbook Layotus

Misters

Glimmer mists and color sprays. This is one of the most popular ways to add more color to your scrapbook layouts because misters come in a variety of colors and finishes. You can spray them, tap them, mask them and you will get different results each and every time. You can use as few colors as or as many as you want. Many of the misters I use I make myself so I can get a custom color that I really love. For this background I sprayed a little and I also took the nozzle out of the bottle and tapped it to create a splatter effect.

Colorful emblishments

Scrapbooking is mostly about embellishments. We love them and they add quite a bit of focus and detail to our pages. In this layout I used colorful die cuts with different colors to add interest.

Custom Made Paper

Layering is another huge trend in scrapbooking right now. I layered some custom made papers in this layout starting with a blue crimped tag and then a green ATC. The blue tag was just distressed with various distress inks and then ran through a paper crimper. For the ATC I ran my rubber brayer over some stamp pads and then onto the paper. I did this in varying colors and directions. Using this method I created two vary different papers to layer with.

Mix and Match Collections

If you want the widest range of color possible try mixing up your paper collections. I used Glitz paper and MME but tried to match just a single color together from the collections, in this case the pink color.

Rainbow Emblishments

I recently posted a tutorial on how to make rainbow washi tape. Using this technique I added a lot of color with the rainbow effect.

Photos

You can treat your photos a couple of different ways when it comes to creating a colorful scrapbook layout. First, you can make your photo black and white if you really want the colors of the page to stand out. Or use a very colorful photo. You can try to match colors in the photo with colors on the page like I did with this layout. The orange and the yellows in the photo match perfectly with the rest of the layout.

Hopefully you try out some of these techniques for making beautifully colored scrapbook layouts of your own.

Today’s free download is a four pack of printable journaling cards. These cute freebies will look great in your black and white scrapbook layouts. I am really feeling the black one for a greeting card though, it’s just so, so pretty. The chalkboard look is all the rage right now so this cute chalkboard style journaling card should fit right in.

The cards should be the perfect size for Project Life inserts but I generally make the borders a bit large for ease of cutting.

How to Make Washi Tape

You will need:

• Craft sheet
• Reinkers – any brand will do. I used distress reinkers in milled lavender, tumbled glass, shabby shutters, mustard seed, dried marigold and worn lipstick
• Glassine bag or tissue paper – In my example I used a glassine bag because I like the texture but tissue paper will also work and give a feel more like washi paper
• Scissors
• Water spray bottle
• Double sided tape like Miracle Tape

This homemade washi tape is in a perfect rainbow. I love rainbows and I love color when I’m scrapbooking or making cards.

1. Cut open your glassine bag
2. Lay down streams of reinker on a craft sheet
3. Spray reinker with water to spread
4. Lay the glassine bag in the reinker. Keep lifting the piece of bag and placing it back in the reinker until you have good coverage.
5. Let dry
6. Add double sided tape and cut into strips. These ‘washi strips’ should be somewhat transparent just like real washi tape.

You also use these strips like regular paper strips and glue them down with your preferred adhesive. I just find it easier to attach double sided tape to them. You can cut them in different sizes to match your double sided tape. The glassine bags will give the washi tapes a waxy sort of feel.
