Pole fitness classes – dance studio leading the way in Charlestown

Super Shag dance studio in Charlestown is leading the way in the area for Pole Fitness Dancing.
Over the past three years the popularity of pole dancing classes has exploded in the Boston area with more and more people from all walks of life taking pole dance classes and buying dance poles for their home.

The Super Shag dance studio in Charlestown has recently held its 3rd yearly Pole Fitness Showecase. The audience were impressed by the girls flying round the poles like fairies. Danielle Mayzes from Boston who took centre stage in the showcase explained how she got into pole dancing. She had been a dancer since the age of 4. A few years ago she travelled to Ireland where she was planning on teaching ballroom dancing. However, she realised that there was far more demand for pole fitness and thats where it all began.

She said: “I had never done it before in my life, I said, I don’t know if I’ll be good at it but I’ll try. I took one class and that was it. I was hooked. It didn’t take much.”

By 2007 she had returned to the U.S. and started teaching ballroom dance at Super Shag. She encouraged the owner to let her try out the new pole fitness lessons as there was no one else offering them in the area, the closest was exotic dancing where you learnt a mix of pole dance, striptease and lap dance and the focus was not on getting fit. It wasn’t long before she had convinced the owner to give pole fitness a try. By calling it pole fitness and not pole dancing the focus is very much on the fitness aspect and also helped overcome some of the stigma that was associated with pole dancing.

Pole fitness is most polular with women but it is a sport that almost anyone can enjoy. Mayzes said that people are often surprised to see the wide range of women who take part in the pole fitness classes and commented that they even had a 82 year old woman attend a class. As pole fitness’s popularity grows it is forging its way not just as a sport but as an extreme sport that is very competitive and of course a very popular and fun way to work out.

Calling for Men to try Pole Dancing

Pole dancing instructor Rebecca Plume is encouraging men to take part in her pole dancing classes for a day. Rebecca teaches a regular pole dance classes for women but has challenged men to come and have a go to raise money for charity. She said men always show a lot of bravado about pole dancing and don’t understand how difficult it is, not only do you have to be able to support your whole boy weight but you also have to do it gracefully.

“You have men who are always boasting they can do pole dancing,” she said. “You’ll invite them in to do a number and they’ll be scrabbling around on the floor. You have to be able to hold your body weight and it’s a bit technical. Men are quite strong and can launch into a move probably quicker than a woman, but they’re so ungraceful.”

Rebecca hopes that the male pole dance lessons will raise a lot of money for a cystic fibrosis charity and the premature baby unit at Whipps Cross hospital in Leytonstone. The class is running on April 17 2011 from 11am until 12.15pm at Krunch Gym, Waltham Abbey.

Megan Gale gets in shape with pole dancing

After five months of following a weight loss plan Megan Gale is back in shape. He weight-loss regime included pole dancing and avoiding alcohol. She made her return to the the catwalk at Alex Perry’s fashin show in Melbourne. As she walked down the catwalk the audience gasped at her toned and trim figure in the flame-coloured gown. Insiders say that with her new ultra thin figure she has dropped a dress size.

Megan says that she feels so much better than she has in ages. She says that she has been on the plan since about October last year but that she has been away from the public eye as she has been so busy filming Project Runway. She said that following an organic diet, taking lots of exercise and a very busy schedule had helped her get into shape. She did a range of exercises which included pilates, yoga, pole dancing and power walking. She said that she had also stopped drinking alcohol for six weeks and then lost the taste for it so she doesn’t really drink that often now. A friend described Megan as being radiant. Megan says that she knows she has lost weight because of the way her clothes fit but she has not weighed herself.

Teens found Pole Dancing in Bar

During a police raid of a Modesto Bar, police say that they found 5 underage drinkers who were also pole dancing. The raid took place at the Los Limones bar along 7th street near downtown Modesto last Friday night. The ages of the underage girls was from 17 to 20 years old. They were discovered to be dancing for customers whilst wearing sexy lingerie. The girls had lied to their parents and told then that they were spending the night at a friends house, when they were actually dancing in the bar.

The girls who were all from Stockton were discovered buy the cops and ABC investigators who raided the bar. They were all cited and their parents were asked to come and collect them. Neighbors from the areas surrounding the bar were releaved that the exesive partying so close to their homes had been stopped.

“To many different owners, different people, I like to see it shut down.”

said Gwen Jackson who lives across the street from the bar and compains that she is often awaken at night frm the loud noises from the bar. As a result of the raid the bar’s alcohol licence is under review, if they lose it the bar may be forced to close down.

Dance Pole Stolen from Woman’s Home

A 19-year-old woman from Palm City Florida was packing up her things after breaking up with her boyfriend when she realised that her 15 foot X pole was missing. She explained to the Sheriff’s deputy that she was living with her boyfriend. They had broken up that day and she had come home to pack up her things later that day. She told the deputy that she thought that her boyfriend may have been behind it and hidden it somewhere.

Her ex-boyfriend claims to have gone to the shops while she was at work and that someone else must have broken into the house and stolen the 15 foot x pole while they were both out.

The lady explained that the pole would not have been that easy to steel as it would have needed to be disassembled before it could be removed from their home. Pole dancing is a sensual and sexy dance form. Over recent years its popularity as a way of keeping fit at home has grown immensely. Pole dancing needs strength, stamina and flexibility and can burn up to 400 calories an hour. While the vicim has suggested her ex-boyfriend was behind the theft, the police say that there are no suspects.

The Naked Truth Pole Dance Comedy

Later this month an impressive cast of female talent will be appering in hit show The Naked Truth in Southport. The play is very much a comedy written for a female audience by Dave Simpson. The comedy takes place in a pole dancing class and it a perfect setting for a play about sisterhood. The star studded cast includes Claire King who used to be in Emmerdale and Bad Girls as well as Liberty X singer Michelle Heaton, Maureen Nolan from The Nolans, Julie Buckfield from Grange Hill and Hollyoaks and finally Leanne Jones from OLIVIER and Hairspray.
The story tells the tale of five very different women who struggle to learn pole dancing for a charity event and to raise awareness and money for breast cancer. While the play is a comedy the story also tells of tears and is a very moving play. The message of the play for its audience is the women should celebrate strength through adversity. Emma Roberts Pole Dances to stay in shape

In a recent interview with Women’s Health magazine, 20 year old actress Emma Roberts (niece of Julia Roberts) revealed that she stays in shape by pole dancing. She got into pole dancing as a way of being able to spend time with her friends and working out at the same time. She comments that it is a really great way to build up your confidence as well as your fitness.

You don’t realise how much upper-body strength you need.

Emma Roberts, is currently doing the rounds to publicise her new movie Scream 4 and also remarked that:

We Robertses have too many teeth for our mouths.

She tells the story of having her eyebrows waxed for the first time when she was only seven-years-old. Her mum decided that this would be the best solution after Emma was teased for having bushy eyebrows.
She made her first screen debut in her Aunt Julia Robert’s film America’s Sweethearts in 2001.

Emma was five when the first screem movie was released in 1996 and she watched half of the first movies hiding under a blanket.
