Summer BBQ Checklist!

As the summer months are approaching, and Memorial Day is right around the next corner, I thought BBQ-ing with some friends either in your own backyard, on the beach or in the park sound AH-MAZ-ING. But of course you need all the proper aspects of a perfect BBQ. Summer drinks, like these red bandana tied mason jars full of a sweet mojito and topped with red and white striped straws are definitely a conversation starter…in more ways than one. Good food, good conversation, and don’t forget the lighting! Bonfires to roast your marshmallows for s’mores, or just being surrounded by citronella candles hanging from the trees above you is just perfect. So here’s to having a smashingly good BBQ and let us know how it went!

One Great Dress – Tantalized By Theia

Real Wedding with Cindy & Hal

When I look at Cindy & Hal’s wedding pictures done by Sweet Little Photographs, I can’t help but wish I had been there! Everyone looks so happy and genuinely having the best time. Fun, fun, party in the sun in Palm Springs at the Ace Hotel and the dress of course is a stunner! Cindy wore and found her dress “Elsa” by Watters here at Lovely LA and we are just smitten that we were able to help her find “The One” here. Now of course, “The One” is more profound as her now husband, Hal, and what a cutie! Congrats to Cindy & Hal and this new adventure they take together!

Now a few words from the bride herself…

Tell us about THE dress and what inspired your look.

I fell in love with this dress the first time I put it on. It was everything I wanted. When I imagined what I wanted my wedding dress to be I wanted a classy somewhat vintage look with lace and a fun, sexy back. I knew I was getting married in Palm Springs, so I wanted something comfortable and lightweight. I tried on a ton of dresses in every style imaginable but something changed when I put this one on at Lovely, everything just came together and I knew it was THE dress. I also started tearing up and got really giddy.

What were the most important details to pulling off your dream wedding?

It was all about location and finding the right venue for us. We wanted everything to happen in the same place: the ceremony, reception and where our guests stay. We also didn’t want the night be cut short by an early curfew. The ACE hotel in Palm Springs provided all of that. Most of our family and friends stayed at the hotel with us so it felt like we were surrounded by our loved ones and had a non-stop party the whole weekend!

What was the most memorable moment?

There were so many amazing moments but there are two that really stand out. Reciting our vows to each other during the ceremony and having all of our loved ones in tears around us. Then at the end of the night once the music stopped I starting running and jumped into the pool with my wedding dress on and then having everyone at the wedding jump into the pool, most of them with all of their clothes on!

If you could give future brides any advice, what would it be?

Try not to stress out. It all works out in the end and everything comes together even when you think it might not. And when it comes to the day, really stop and look around and take it all in. Like everyone says it does go by so fast so just enjoy every second, take time to have moments with your bridesmaids and most importantly your groom and have the time of your life!

We’ve been immensely excited for all of our readers to get to know Jacquelyne Mae Photography because well, Jacquelyne’s photos are just so darn beautiful. We wanted to know a bit more about Jacquelyne so we recently chit-chatted with the photographer about her business and love for photography.

Lovely: Tell us a little bit about how you got started in wedding photography?

Jacquelyne Pierson: As a young girl, I loved photographing people and knew one day I would have the opportunity to capture raw expressions and emotions during a persons most vulnerable moments. Following my love and passion for photography throughout high school and college has taken me up and down the East Coast. I was presented many amazing photographic opportunities along the way which ultimately led me to Philadelphia. Living in Philadelphia has allowed me to fully commit to my photography company and live a life I have dreamt of as a professional wedding photographer.

L: What do you love most about your job?

JP: I am grateful each and every day to work in the wedding industry. Being a wedding photographer, I am able to combine my background in Fine Art Photography and Business which allows me to run a successful company in a unique way. Weddings bring people together from near and far, relationships are formed, and love presents itself in the most special way. As a wedding photographer, I capture those details..big and small. The details that people will remember and take home with them. Throughout the day, I am fortunate enough to experience the love through the beauty of smiles, laughter, kisses and hugs. Photographing the event in a persons life that will be the stepping stone to the next chapter in their lives is a great responsibility that I am proud to be a part of.

L: What’s your ideal couple like?

JP: We all know that weddings are a very important day filled with a lot of anxiety, stress, and sometimes tears. My ideal couple acknowledges the bumps in the road and accepts them with grace. They know that love conquers all and no matter what, at the end of the day they will be married to their best friend. I enjoy working with couples who are completely natural, organic, genuinely excited and head over heals in love. My ideal couple accepts the untraditional way I photograph and is not afraid to have the beauty of their day photographed in a unique way. More importantly, I love for my couples to relax, have fun, laugh, all while I capture the most honest representation of them as a whole.

L: Any last words?

JP: I have always been a firm believer in never taking a single day for granted. Each day presents a clean slate to continue working towards your ultimate goal. As a wedding photographer, I am constantly looking for new ways to make each day better than the last. This allows me to provide the absolute best experience for all of my clients. My clients are my first priority in any situation pertaining to their wedding day. I am here to help them, to make them comfortable, and to capture the most exciting day of their lives. The importance of their wedding day is undeniable and I am always honored to share and celebrate it with them.

A Moment With Brooklyn Fox Lingerie

The great thing about New York is that you can walk everywhere. And that means, the ability to discover new places while strolling through different neighborhoods. Brooklyn Fox Lingerie is one of those places you might discover while walking on a beautiful day through the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn. Nestled just off Bedford Street, Brooklyn Fox Lingerie caters to every kind of woman, whatever her lingerie needs be. I recently sat down with Alexis, owner of Brooklyn Fox, to chat about bridal lingerie trends and how she got started.

Lovely: Tell me a bit about how you got into the lingerie business. What were your desires when opening a lingerie boutique?

Brooklyn Fox: I think that lingerie can go both ways. It’s definitely a luxury item but also a necessity. I always loved lingerie and I always wore beautiful lingerie even if I was wearing ripped jeans or a grungy look. It always made me feel special and gave me a little kick to my step. When I first opened up this shop, there was nothing in this neighborhood and you had to go into Manhattan to find anything. I wanted to do two things: open a store where you could find little gems to treasure in your closet but I also wanted a few basic and t-shirt bras that you didn’t have to go into Manhattan to find.

L: Are there any pieces that you would recommend for wearing the day of your wedding?

BF: My favorite bra is Cosabella’s Strapless Bustier. It’s plungy in the front and has really low in the back. We’ve had the most success with this bra so during bridal season, this is our go-to bra. However, if I were to get married I’d wear Fleur of England’s ‘Jasmine set’. Cosabella’s Strapless Bustier is definitely more practical but this one is really beautiful. We were so excited to see it at the shows and couldn’t wait to get it into the shops.

L: Are there any trends within the lingerie world that you see emerging or want to see emerge?

BF: There was a while when people were not buying white for under their gowns and that was interesting to notice. People were going the untraditional route and I’m not sure if it was because they wanted to be contrary or if it was something they truly felt but now it seems people have swung back and want that delicate, white set to put under their gown which is great.

L: Why do you think someone should wear lingerie on their wedding day?

BF: I think it’s a bit of a fail-safe in the occasion that there was some sort of malfunction. It really depends on the dress. There might be some reason to wear creative pieces and sometimes it just shapes you better. One of the most important things you care about when walking down the aisle is how you feel and look.

Okay get ready for some seriously beautiful images of some seriously beautiful bridal accessories. Gibson Bespoke is an Etsy shop based in the United Kingdom that sells bridal accessories inspired by the golden age. The attention to detail that designer Debbie puts into each piece is breathtaking and her mix of jewels and fabric makes each piece unique and stunning. My favorites? The bridal capes because they’re just so absolutely chic.

Love To Decorate With Candlesticks

Decorating with candlesticks is one of my favorite things. They are great! Distressed or new, they can give an area height when it didn’t before and bring interest to the eye. And of course let’s not forget their original use. Usually very inexpensive and you can find really interesting sticks from flea markets or for maybe more of a glam look, Zgallerie is great!

Another enjoyable aspect about decorating with candlesticks is that they are convenient to move. I have about three different sets of tall candlesticks, and I probably move them to change things up about 3 times a month. These are ones I’ve been looking at on Etsy. Another great avenue to find your next decorating obsession.

We’re so over-the-moon excited to introduce Shop Lovely, our new ready-to-wear online shop. The idea for Shop Lovely came to be after so many of our brides came to us looking for more than just bridal gowns. Our answers to that? Shop Lovely! An online shop where brides, FOBs (friends of brides) and really just any girl in love with all things pretty can shop there little hearts out. Starting with a curated collection of dresses, jumpers, and separates, Shop Lovely is a haven for all things unapologetically pretty. Of course, we Lovely ladies couldn’t wait to get our hands on these pieces so we decided to try out some of the looks around town.

One Great Dress – Anne Barge “Jamieson”

Anne Barge is now having a trunk show at Lovely NYC! As I’m sure you know, I’ve been quite inspired by the outdoors recently and there are beautiful flowers springing up everywhere! Inspired by pink peonies and pale yellow roses, I thought “Jamieson” by Anne Barge is a sweet addition to a spring wedding. For a classic gown, “Jamieson” is very whimsical and feminine. That a-line ball gown will definitely make you feel like a princess, and your prince charming is sure to sweep you off your feet with this One Great Dress!

Bow Ties and Polka Dots are sweet and cute details that make spring come alive.
