Saturday was the official start of my wedding season.  I couldn’t have been happier to start it out with such an awesome couple!  I met Catherine & Dan last March and have been looking forward to their wedding ever since.  Stay tuned, there will be lots to post from this wedding… including a my new favorite shoes picture!

Our last day in Venice we decided to take a boat tour to the islands of Murano, Burano & Torcello.  If you don’t already know, Murano is home of Murano Glass. Burano is famous for Lace and I can honestly say I have no idea what Torcello is famous for.  The island only had 50 people living on it.  But that is the island where I lost my sunglasses.

I just love how the buildings look like they are built right out of the water.

We had a very quick demo on how glass is made, but there were so many people in front of my that I couldn’t get a clear shot. 

Jimmy and I went to San Francisco, Napa & Sonoma a few years ago with some friends.   While at a winery we found a painting by a local artist that we fell in love with but didn’t buy.  To this day we still talk about how we should have bought that painting.  Fast forward a few years later and instead of passing up on the vase below we splurged and bought it!   It’s the first piece of “art” we’ve  bought together.  I can’t wait until it arrives!

Burano was my favorite island.  I loved the colors and the peaceful surroundings.

* I did a little better with remembering to take landscapes on this leg of the trip! Probably because we were stuck in a boat for most of the day.

Next up, Florence.

As most of you know I got married last year, August 27th to be exact.  Having my own wedding in the middle of my wedding season didn’t allow me much time to take a honeymoon, so April 1st, Jimmy and I were finally able to leave for our honeymoon… to Italy!!

If you can’t see where the plane is above, we are just about to fly over the ALPS!  We are at 35,000 feet and the snow covered mountains are peaking above the clouds.  It was so cool!  And true to form, Jimmy made fun of me for getting out my camera for this… but seriously… what else was I going to do on a 9 hour flight?!  I was so bored and he had stolen my headset connection to watch movies since his was broken.

After a very long red-eye flight to Marco Polo Airport, we jumped on a boat and headed to Venice.  I was so tired by the time we arrived I didn’t even bother with my camera so the next couple shots are with my iphone. lol

People always ask me when I’m not  photographing clients what do I like to take pictures of…  Well… here ya go.  complete randomness.   I am not one that should be left to take those “important” vacation pictures.  I’m usually too busy taking pictures of windows, clothes hanging off lines, doorknobs, pigeons, etc.    I noticed the same trend when I took my camera to Paris and San Francisco.  Apparently I have something against  simple landscapes.

Look! an Italian Seagull.  (enter very lame joke about it’s italian accent here)  Sorry, couldn’t help myself! =)

They sold FILM!  Lots of it!

I’ve decided I want my studio to have a store front like this.  I wonder if First Amherst would let me build a moat.  That would be cool.

I did my best to limit the # of pictures posted with clothes hanging out the window.  I don’t know why but I just love how this looks. We should save energy and do more of this in the states.

Photographing the locks on the Notre Dame bridge in Paris was on of my favorite pictures from my trip in 2010.  SO when I saw this little pink lock  attached to a bridge in Venice I had to photograph it.  Locks attached on a bridge me everlasting love. Rather fitting for a honeymoon.

One of the only pictures I have of Jimmy without him making a face, covering his face or blinking.  How is it possible I married a guy who refuses that I take pictures of him. 

The picture above and below are taken out of the top floor window of the Doge’s Palace.  A BEAUTIFUL palace that we toured but didn’t allow any pictures while inside.  The picture below honestly looks like it could have been take 50 years ago.

There is no doubt about it, I love weddings.  I’ve loved wedding photography since the very first time I assisted a wedding photographer, 13 whole years ago!!! Wow, I am seriously getting old.

I am lucky enough to photograph so many different types of ceremony’s and receptions each year.  That being said, with so many different religions, cultures and beliefs, there are some weddings I photograph but do not post.  I truly enjoy sharing as much as possible with everyone on my blog, website and fan page but respecting a belief or request is so much more important.

The pictures below are a few detail shots from a wedding I photographed earlier this year.  As so many other brides, she put a lot of time into the details, making her day extra special.  With her permission I am posting just a few of my favorites from the wedding day.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted.  I apologize.  Trust me, it’s not that I’ve taken a leave of absence, but because my year started out so strong that I haven’t had time to catch up with blogging.   I guess that’s a good thing.  Thank you all for your business!

My 2011 wedding season is obviously over and I’m now booking for 2013 since I only have one spot left for 2012.  This year is going to be absolutely amazing!  Most of the work I have been doing lately are maternity sessions.  I wanted to take a few minutes to share a few shots from a session I did last weekend.  Lay Choo & Elliott were absolutely amazing and I had so much fun with them!   Thank you Baby’s Bungalow for the amazing referral!

It’s defnitely been a while since I’ve blogged.  But you all know that I would much rather be behind the camera than in fron of my computer.  This post is a little delayed but it’s too fun not to share!  I met Stephanie & Gary at the Botanical Gardens (where Gary purposed to Stephanie).  Their session had perfect lighting! I love scheduling engagement sessions an hour before the sunset.
