So last night I decided to embark on a baking adventure

I have finally come to terms with the fact that I am now a baker

baking is like chemistry

you have to get every ingredient right

I much prefer the

"little bit of this, little big of that" technique used in cooking

Is beyond charming....

I have learned much about design from my grandma

she has favorite designers that she follows and learns from

often spending time looking around local consignment stores to find the perfect addition

to many of the stunning rooms of her home

starting with the perfect dutch door

each year she has my family over for Christmas brunch

filled with the best lunch

and trays perfectly arranged sweets

I love the festive touches of red she added throughout the house

and the lanterns on either side of the mirror above the fireplace

and everyone knows how much I love to decorate with books

now you see where I got that from

the sweets table

not yet filled with truffles, cookies, sweet breads and fudge

if you look at the armoire in the back you will notice

that variety of highs she placed on display

I love the long lean candle sticks

a great collection of artwork

We drank red sparkling with from one of my grandparents favorite vineyards

from delicate Waterford Crystal glasses

served on a vintage tray that my grandma recently found at one of our hidden gem consignment stores

check out that killer crown molding!!

isn't this just the cutest little kitchen

she has really fixed it up since she first bought the house

granite counters and brand new white cupboards

the window looks out to a perfectly maintained, yet seemingly wild rose garden

a classy little bar

filled with a perfect variety of vintage glassware

and sentimental trinkets

This is one of the guest bedrooms

the famous elephant lamp

well, only famous to me because I love it so much

and how cute is the little red shade

and sadly I didnt get a shot of the dressing table on the left of this photo

I will make to take on next time I am there because it is

beyond perfection

this is the epitemy of a perfectly done white bed

a variety of textures makes it look clean yet simple

on to the second room

Okay so anyone that knows me knows im a HUGE fan of lists, dreaming big, and having goals

I absolutely love making new years resolutions

the New Year is such an exciting time- you have a full 365 to make your dreams happen

As a mentioned a few days ago I'm having orange fever

literally everywhere I go i've been noticing this color

I bought a sweater in this color and have worn it almost everyday

and if i'm not wearing the sweater i'm wearing my burt organge j brand skinnies

...you can't exactly wear the same orange everyday but as I am use to wearing all neutrals the color has been a bit of an adjustment

Resolved to travel more in 2012? Mr. Blasberg knows how to beat jet lag, from Very Classy.

1. Be nice to the body before you fold it up like a lawn chair for a gazillion hours. Get a good night’s sleep the night before you travel and drink lots of water. Do not drink alcohol a the airport.

2. Adjust your schedule in advance. In the days before your flight, stay up later or go to bed earlier.

3. Don’t drink caffeine. The point is to sleep on long flights.

4. Come prepared — warm socks, earplugs, sleep mask, scarf….

5. If possible, don’t eat before you fly. When you wake up, have a big breakfast.

6. Soak up some sun — this can trick the body into thinking it’s your usual morning time.
