Dangerous streets and neighborhoods of Athens - Zone pericolose ad Atene

As I did for the nice place in Athens, i thought that it would be useful for you to know what areas you should avoid in Athens. As you can see, there are some streets coloured in blue, someone else is red. I think that in the blue streets you can go without problems (of course be careful with your camera and your wallet), but it's better to avoid that in the night. On the other hand, the red coloured streets, should be avoided all the day long. The same thing is for the coloured areas. The fact is that many hotels in the centre of Athens are nowadays in a really really bad position. Of course once it wasn't like that. But today, the entire Omonia area is a dangerous zone. Even for the Athenians. As for every city in the world, Athens is plenty of hotels in his centre, and many people doesn't know how bad is the situation near the hotel which they choose (from the moment that hotels managers don't write it down in their site...). Plus the prices in that hotels tend to be lower than others. But, believe me, it isn't worth it! The map is not complete, and I will update it as soon as it possible. Please feel free to share and comment!

In questa mappa troverete alcune zone da evitare ad Atene. Le zone in blu sono da evitare di notte, mentre di giorno non presentano particolari problemi. Le zone in rosso sono da evitare sempre e comunque. In ogni caso, la parte pericolosa di Atene (principalmente i dintorni di Omonoia) non presenta alcun tipo di interesse turistico, quindi non vi perdete niente... Il problema è che, essendo in pieno centro, sono presenti molti hotel, spesso e volentieri con tariffe convenienti. Col passare degli anni, e l'arrivo di migliaia di immigrati irregolari, il quartiere è stato abbandonato a se stesso, diventando una zona pericolosa per chiunque, ateniesi compresi. Il mio consiglio è di evitare assolutamente di pernottare da quelle parti, per evitare di trovarsi in situazioni spiacevoli e pericolose.

Athens Mass Transit System - Mezzi Pubblici - Σύστημα Μέσων Μαζικής Μεταφοράς Αθηνών

From 1st February, tickets policy for public transport in the Metropolitan Area of Athens will change.

- The ticket for all the Mass Transit System of Athens will cost 1,40€. The reduced ticket 0,70€. Is valid for 90', and there is no limitation of changes.
- The ticket for Bus, Tram, and Trolley Bus will cost 1,20€. The reduced ticket 0,60€. Is valid for one trip only.

- The daily ticket for all the Mass Transit System will cost 4€. - The weekly pass for all the Mass Transit System will cost 14€. - The ticket for Airport Lines ( X93, X95, X96, X97) will cost 5€, the reduced ticket 2,5€. - The ticket for the metro line to the Airport will cost 8€, the reduced ticket 4€ Who is entitled for the reduced ticket? - All people aged over 65 years. - All children from 7 years to 12. - All University students with a valid Student Card University I.D. Athens has a relatively good Public Transport Service and a very good value for money.

There are six different companies, which are coordinated by Athens Urban Transport Organization. Those companies are:

1. ETHEL S.A. a bus network with more of 350 lines.

2. ILPAP S.A. a trolleybus network. His fleet consists of 366 trolleybuses, which cover a distance of 12 million kilometers and transports 80 million passengers per year (2007 data).

3. TRAM S.A. which includes three lines:

I. Line 3 Thukididis, from SEF to Asklipio Voula.

II. Line 4 Aristotelis from Syntagma to SEF.

III. Line 5 Platonas from Syntagma to Asklipio Voula.

The tram operates daily from 05:00 am to 01:00 am while on Fridays and Saturdays it operates 24 hours.

4. ISAP S.A. is the oldest urban rapid transit system of Athens. Today the only Line connects the port of Piraeus with the suburb of Kifissia. Mostly of times, this line is indicated as metro line 1 (green). In fact it is owned by a separated company.

5. AMEL S.A.is the company which owns and controls the Metro of Athens. Today there are two lines even thought, as already said, the ISAP line could be part of metro network. Those lines are:

I. Line 2 (red) connects Aghios Antonios in Peristeri with Agios Dimitrios. The first train depart sun -thu on 05:30, and the last on 00:06, fri – sat the last departs on 02:06. By 2010 this line is supposed to be extended, and once the works will finish the line will start in Anthoupoli and end in Elliniko.

II. Line 3 (blue) connects Aigaleo with Athens International Airport. Starts sun – thu at 05:30, ends at 00:09, fri – sat ends at 02:09¹ By 2010 the stations of Haidari, Holargos and Agia Paraskevi will be added to the metro network.

6. TRAINOSE is the company which controls the suburban railway named “Proastiakos”. Today there are two lines:

I. Piraeus – Kiato , connecting the Port of Athens (Piraeus) with the town of Kiato (about 30 km north-weast of Corinth). The journey takes 1h43’, and there is a train every 1h. The first one is on 04:36 and the last on 22:44. The ticket costs 8 €

II. Ano Liosia – Athens International Airport. This line connects Ano Liosia (a suburb in the northwest part of Athens) with the airport. The journey takes 31’. This service begins on 06:06, and ends at 00:06. There is a train every 15’ and the ticket costs 6 €.

Of course you can get use the Proastiakos to move inside Athens Area. In that case, the ticket is 1 €, and is the same for all the other mode of transport.

1 This is valid only for the journey Egaleo – Doukissis Plakentias. The last train to the airport is on 22:57 every day

Dal 1 febbraio sono in vigore nuovi prezzi per il trasporto pubblico ad Atene.

- Il biglietto unico per tutti i mezzi pubblici, della durata di 1h30' (vedi sotto), costa 1,40€. Il ridotto 0,70€. - Il biglietto per autobus, tram e filobus, valevole per un'unica corsa costa 1,20€. Il ridotto 0,60€. - Il biglietto giornaliero per tutti i mezzi costa 4€. - il biglietto settimanale per tutti i mezzi costa 14€. - Il biglietto per le linee degli autobus per l'aeroporto (X93, X95, X96, X97) costa 5€. Il ridotto 2,50€. - Il biglietto per la metropolitana per l'aeroporto costa 8€. Il ridotto 4€. Atene è dotata di un buon servizio di trasporti pubblici, coordinato dall’OASA. Il biglietto, per quanto riguarda l’area metropolitana , è unico. Costa 1,40€ (gli studenti con relativo tesserino pagano 0,70€)ed è valido per 1h30’, senza limitazioni di tragitti. Se, allo scadere del tempo a voi a disposizione, vi trovate ancora a bordo, si deve timbrare una seconda volta il biglietto, estendendo così la validità fino alla discesa dal mezzo. La multa prevista per i trasgressori corrisponde al prezzo del biglietto moltiplicato per sessanta volte. Le aziende che svolgono tale servizio sono sei:

1) ETHEL S.A. ovvero la compagnia di autobus urbani, che gestisce più di 350 linee

2) ILPAP S.A. controlla i filobus cittadini. La flotta consiste in 366 mezzi che trasportano 80 milioni di passeggeri l’anno, percorrendo circa 12 milioni di chilometri (dati del 2007).

3) TRAM S.A. azienda relativamente giovane, gestisce il trasporto su tram. Le linee operative sono tre:

I. Linea 3 Thukididis, collega lo stadio SEF con Asklipio, Voula

II. Linea 4 Aristotelis, collega Piazza Syntagma con lo stadio SEF

III. Linea 5 Platonas, collega Syntagma con Asklipio, Voula

I tram circolano dalla domenica al giovedì dalle ore 05:00 alle ore 01:00, mentre nei giorni di venerdì e sabato sono in funzione 24 ore su 24.

4) ISAP S.A. fondata nel lontano 1869, rappresenta la prima metropolitana ateniese.

Oggi tale linea collega il porto del Pireo con il comune di Kifisia (attualmente il tratto tra Monastiraki e Attiki è fuori servizio). Nonostante non faccia parte dell’azienda che gestisce la metropolitana ateniese, viene definita come linea 1 (colore verde). I greci sono soliti chiamarla ‘’treno’’, per distinguerla dalla metropolitana vera e propria.

5) AMEL S.A. è invece la metropolitana, composta da due linee, la 2 (colore rosso) e la

3 (colore blu). Questo perché, come detto, la linea 1 è considerata essere la metropolitana leggera di cui al punto precedente.

La linea 2 si muove tra la stazione di Aghios Antonios (Comune di Peristeri) alla stazione di Aghios Dimitrios (nel comune omonimo)

La linea 3 collega il comune di Egaleo con l’aeroporto di Atene.

6) TRAINOSE S.A. è l’azienda che controlla il ‘Proastiakos’, ovvero la ferrovia suburbana

di Atene. Oggi è composta da due linee:

I. Pireo – Kiato (comune a circa trenta km da Corinto). Il viaggio dura 1h43’ ed è presente un collegamento ogni ora tra le 04:36 e le 22:44. Il prezzo del biglietto è di 8€.

II. Ano Liossia (comune della periferia occidentale di Atene) – Aeroporto. Il collegamento avviene in 31’, ogni 15’, tra le 06:06 e le 00:06. Il prezzo del biglietto è di 6€.

Nel caso vogliate spostarvi all’interno dell’area metropolitana di Atene, il prezzo del biglietto è di 1€, come per tutti gli altri mezzi pubblici

If you have decided to come to Greece by ship (arriving in Patras), and you don’t have your car, you have two choices: to go to Athens by train, so click there, or to go by coach. Private company KTEL (ΚΤΕΛ) offers you the possibility to reach Athens by coach, in three hours more or less.
The bus will arrive in Kifissou Bus Station, on Kifissou Ave, from where you can get the bus 051 which will take you near Omonia Square, where there is a metro station. Unfortunately, there is not another line. Taking the 051 you’ll arrive at the corner of streets Menandrou (Μενάνδρου) and Vilara (Βηλαρά), approximately 200 m from Omonia Square. There may be your hotel. If not, you can caught the metro (line 1 and 2) or take another bus (I suggest you the metro).
Menandrou st is known as a dangerous place where immigrants without permission can rob you. When I took the 051, some years ago, I hadn’t had any problem but I cannot say that I wasn’t a bit scared. I don’t want to scare you, just be careful – especially during night hours, and probably nothing will happen to you. Alternatively, you can take a taxi from Kifissou Ave.
P.S. to Kifissou station don’t arrive only coaches from Patras, but I believed that it was more useful for you.

Se avete intenzione di andare in Grecia in nave (arrivando a Patrasso), e non avete una macchina, avete due possibilità: raggiungere Atene in treno, allora cliccate qui, o prendere il pullman.
La compagnia privata KTEL (ΚΤΕΛ), vi da la possibilità di raggiungere Atene in circa tre ore.
Il pullman arrivera alla stazione dei pullamn di Kifissou, situata sull’omonimo viale. Da lì, per raggiungere il centro, potete prendere l’autobus numero 051, che vi lascerà all’incrocio delle strade Menandrou (Μενάνδρου) e Vilara (Βηλαρά), a circa 200 metri da Piazza Omonia. Lì potrebbe trovarsi il vostro hotel; se così non fosse, prendete la metropolitana (linea 1 e 2) o un altro autobus (tuttavia vi consiglio la metro, è più comoda e di certo non vi lascerà a grande distanza dal vostro albergo!).
Menandrou ha la fama di essere letteralmente invasa da immigrati clandestini, i quali possono borseggiare i passanti. Questo è un esempio tipico del degrado che ha colpito alcune zone centrali di Atene. Quando io ho usato la linea 051, qualche anno fa, non ho avuto nessun problema, anche se il degrado generale che mi circondava mi causò un notevole disturbo. Non vi voglio spaventare, solo avvertirvi. State attenti (soprattutto se vi muovete dopo il tramonto, come è capitato a me), e non vi dovrebbe succedere nulla.
Alternativamente, potete prendere un taxi da Viale Kifissou.
P.S. alla stazione dei pullman di Kifissou non arrivano solo linee da Patrasso, ma ho ritenuto che fosse questo il collegamento che più di altri vi potesse interessare.

Εάν σχεδιάζεται να έρθετε στην Ελλάδα με πλοίο (φθάνοντας στην Πάτρα), και δεν έχετε αυτοκίνητο, τότε έχετε δυο δυνατότητες: να πάτε στην Αθήνα με τραίνο, τότε κάντε κλικ εδώ, και να πάρετε λεωφορείο.

Η εταιρία ΚΤΕΛ σας δίνει τη δυνατότητα να φθάσετε στην Αθήνα σε περίπου τρεις ώρες.
Το πούλμαν θα σας αφήσει στο σταθμό των ΚΤΕΛ της Λεωφόρου Κηφισού, από όπου θα πάρετε το λεωφορείο 051 για την Ομόνοια. Συγκεκριμένα, η αφετηρία είναι στη διασταύρωση των οδών Μενάνδρου και Βηλαρά, η οποία βρίσκεται περίπου 200 μ από την Πλατεία Ομονοίας. Εκεί ίσως να βρίσκεται ο προορισμός σας. Αν δεν είναι έτσι, μπορείτε να πάρετε το μετρό (γραμμή 1 και 2) ή, αν είστε πιο έμπυροι, ένα άλλο λεωφορείο. Για περισσότερες πληροφορίες όσον αφορά τις γραμμές των αστικών συγκοινωνιών, επισκεφθείτε την ιστοσελίδα του ΟΑΣΑ.
Η οδός Μενάνδρου, όπως ίσως να γνωρίζεται, είναι γνωστή για τον κίνδυνο κλοπής από παράνομοι μετανάστες που βρίσκουν καταφύγιο σε αυτό το σημείο της πόλης. Αυτό είναι ένα άλλο παράδειγμα της τραγικής κατάστασης στην οποία βρίσκεται μέρος του κέντρου της Αθήνας. Όταν εγώ έκανα αυτή τη διαδρομή, πριν λίγα χρόνια, δεν είχα κανένα πρόβλημα, αν και θα ήταν ψέματα να πω ότι δεν τρόμαξα από την κατάσταση γύρο μου. Δε θέλω να σας τρομάζω, απλά να σας προειδοποιήσω. Να προσέχετε (ειδικά αν κινήστε μετά το σούρουπο, όπως έτυχε σε ‘μενα) και το πιο πιθανό είναι να μην πάθετε τίποτα.
Διαφορετικά, μπορείτε να πάρετε ένα ταξί από την Κηφισού.
Υ.Γ. στο σταθμό Κηφισού καταφθάνουν πολλά περισσότερα πούλμαν, όχι μόνο από την Πάτρα, απλά θεωρώ ότι αυτό μπορεί να σας ενδιαφέρει περισσότερο.

Hello everybody! I'm a 23 years old boy from Athens, Greece. I'm half Italian and half Greek, but I live in Athens since 2008. I'm attending the undergraduate course in Business Administration at Athens University of Economics and Business. My interests more or less are: politics, both national and international, Photography, Art in general, going out eating and drinking, discovering new places and going for a walk, alone or with friends! I like very much living in Athens, although is quite a crazy city... you have to understand that, or you'll never be able to live in here! I think that is a great place to live, but certainly is plenty of problems... for these reasons i decided to open this blog, where you can find some (i hope) usefully informations! If you will reach Athens by train, you will arrive at “Larissis Station” (Σταθμός Λαρίσης). From there is very easy to get to the center of Athens.

The best way is of course to take the Metro (line 2 – to Aghios Dimitrios), which stop in the station of:

Metaxourgeio (Μεταξουργείο) Maybe you have booked here! There is nothing to do in this part of Athens, but is in a central position and therefore there are a lot of hotels. Pay attention when you walking in this part of the City, especially during the night.

Omonoia (Ομόνοια) Omonia Is the earth of Athens centre, but during last years this place has turned in a relatively dangerous neighborhood. Just pay attention, and you will not have problems.

Panepistimio (Πανεπιστήμιο) Is located on “Eleftheriou Venizelou” aka “Panepistimiou” street, neat Syntagma Square and Omonia. In this street you will find some amazing neo classical buildings and many hotels.

Syntagma (Σύνταγμα) Is the main square, with Omonia, in Athens. Here you can see the Greek Parliament. It is also very close to the Plaka, the old neighborhood under Acropolis.

Acropoli (Ακρόπολη) I don’t think I have something to tell you about it. Best place in Athens, you will surely fall in love with.

Sygrou - Fix (Συγγρού - Φιξ) Located on Sygrou Avenue, this part of town in famous for his night club, and nothing more. However, there are some hotels. If you are so lucky to stay at Athenaeum Intercontinental try his restaurant, which is one of the best in Greece. And then, tell me how it was!

As you can imagine, I put only those stops that I repute interesting for you.

You can also take a bus or a trolley. There are a lot of lines which will get to reach your destination! Some of those lines are: 1, B5, M2

I suggest you to have a look to the site of Urban Athens Transport Organization for more information

Remember that with a simply ticket (1€) you can travel within Athens for 90’, even if you have to change line or service. If you run out of time, but you are on the last line, you can re-validate your ticket (on the other side)

Outside the station you will find some taxies. Remember that there is a standard fee for pick you up from a station, and another fee is for the luggage (heavier than 10kg)

If your hotel is very close to the station, you can go by feet. It could be a bit dangerous if you are a girl or if is night. Anyway, pay attention!

Se raggiungerete Atene in treno, la vostra fermata di arrivo sarà la Stazione “Larissis” (“σταθμός Λαρίσης”). Sarà poi facile raggiungere la vostra destinazione finale.

Il modo migliore per spostarsi dalla stazione è senza dubbio la metropolitana (linea 2 – direzione Aghios Dimitrio ), che esegue le seguenti fermate:

Metaxourgio (Μεταξουργείο) Zona centrale di Atene, non presenta nessun interesse. Tuttavia ospita una vasta schiera di alberghi, di conseguenza potrebbe essere la vostra destinazione. Attenzione la sera, soprattutto se siete donne.

Omonoia (Ομόνοια) E’ il cuore di Atene, inseme a Platia Syntagmatos, la piazza principale della città, da cui partono diversi imponenti viali. Come è ovvio, è una delle zone di Atene con la più fitta presenza di alberghi. Tristemente negli ultimi anni questa zona è stata abbandonata al suo destino, causando quindi un declino tanto inevitabile quanto di vaste dimensioni. Non dovrebbe essere pericoloso camminare di giorno (attenti al portafogli), ma di notte è necessario stare all’erta. Per nessun motivo inoltrarsi nelle stradine adiacenti, meglio rimanere su grandi viali.

Panepistimio (Πανεπιστήμιο) Questa fermata è collocata su “Elefhteriou Venizelou”, meglio conosciuta come “Panepistimiou”. Su questo bel viale che collega la piazza di Omonia con quella Syntagma , troverete una serie di deliziosi edifici neo classici, caffe’ storici, e un importante centro commerciale (Attica)

Syntagma (Σύνταγμα) La piazza del parlamento. Da qui è possibile cambiare linea (3) o prendere l’autobus per praticamente qualsiasi destinazione. D’obbligo la foto con le guardie in gonnella e un po’ di shopping in Ermou. A piacere passeggiata su Leoforos Vassiiissis Sofias che, tra le altre cose, ospita l’ambasciata italiana

Acropoli (Ακρόπολη) Non credo ci sia molto da dire a riguardo. Qui potrete dimenticarvi di essere in una delle città più trafficate al mondo. Se avrete la fortuna di alloggiare qui capirete cosa intendo dire.

Sygrou - Fix (Συγγρού - Φιξ) Quest quartiere non ha assolutamente nulla da darvi se non, forse, l’alloggio. La fermata si erge su Leoforos Sygrou, viale famoso per il suo traffico e, soprattutto, per i numerosissimi strip bar e la prostitute. Se avrete la fortuna di alloggiare all’Athaeneum Intercontinental provate assolutamente il ristorante, ritenuto uno dei migliori in tutto il Paese. E poi scrivetemi com’è.

Come detto, la metro proseguirà fino a Aghios Dimitrios, comune a sud di Atene. Ho ritenuto di citare solo alcune fermate, in base al vostro possibile interesse.

Inoltre, potete decidere di prendere un autobus o un filobus, come il num 1, B5, M2

In questo caso però vi consiglio vivamente di consultare il sito dell’OASA (Organizzazione Trasporti Cittadini Ateniese). Ricordate che il biglietto (1€) è valido per 90’, e vi dà il diritto di cambiare più volte linea e/o mezzo. Se vi accorgete che il tempo a vostra disposizione è quasi terminato ma vi trovate sull’ultimo mezzo, semplicemente timbrate il biglietto un altra volta, dall’altro verso.

Se lo desiderate, all’esterno della stazione troverete dei taxi. Considerate che c’è una tariffa speciale in quanto il luogo di partenza è una stazione, e che ogni valigia viene addebitata (se più pesante di 10 kg, e con sistemazione dell’autista).

Infine, se la vostra destinazione non è distante dalla stazione, potete decidere di andare piedi, che fa anche bene alla salute. Solo, come sempre in quella parte del centro di Atene, fate attenzione!

Εάν σκοπεύετε να φθάσετε στην Αθήνα με τρένο, ο τερματικός σας σταθμός θα είναι ο “Σταθμός Λαρίσης” .

Ο καλύτερος τρόπος να μετακινηθείτε από κι, είναι σίγουρα το μετρό (γραμμή 2 – προς Άγιο Δημήτριο ).

Μεταξουργείο Τίποτα το ενδιαφέρον έχει για τον τουρίστα αυτή η περιοχή. Όμως φιλοξενεί διαφορετικά ξενοδοχεία. Προσοχή στο δρόμο, ειδικά αν είναι νύχτα ή είστε γυναίκες.

Ομόνοια Όλοι ξέρουμε την περίπτωση της Ομόνοιας και των τριγύρω περιοχών. Μεγάλο το πρόβλημα, μακριά η λύση του. Από τη μία η τοποθεσία κεντρική, τα ξενοδοχεία, τα θέατρα κλπ… από την άλλη η πλήρης αδιαφορία με την οποία οι αρχές αντιμετωπίζουν (ή μάλλον ΔΕΝ αντιμετωπίζουν) την τραγική κατάσταση στην οποία βρίσκεται σήμερα το κέντρο της ωραίας Αθήνας.

Πανεπιστήμιο Η στάση αυτή βρίσκεται ανάμεσα στο Σύνταγμα και την Ομόνοια. Επί την οδό Ελευθερίου Βενιζέλου (πιο γνωστή ως Πανεπιστημίου). Θα έχετε την ευκαιρία αν θαυμάσετε διάφορα νέο κλασσικά κτίρια.

Σύνταγμα Η πλατεία της Βουλής των Ελλήνων. Αξίζει μια βόλτα στα μαγαζιά στην Ερμού, επιβάλλεται να χαθείτε στα πανέμορφα στενάκια της πλάκας, μόλις λίγα λεπτά με τα πόδια από το μετρό.

Ακρόπολη Τι θα μπορούσα να πω για αυτό το πανέμορφο μέρος, γεμάτο ιστορία και ομορφιά; Όσο η Αθήνα είναι μια βρόμικη, πνιγμένη στην κίνηση και στα καυσαέρια, τόσο η ακρόπολη παραμένει ο μέρος που μπορεί να πάει κάποιος και να βρει την ηρεμία του. Μακριά από όλα αυτά.

Συγγρού – Φιξ Απολύτως τίποτα να δείτε. Εκτός, βεβαίως, των μαγαζιών striptease και των πόρνων που έχουν δοξάσει το όνομα της Λεωφόρου Συγγρού, όπου κάνει στάση το μετρό. Αν έχετε την τύχη να διαμένετε στο Athenaeum Intercontinental, δοκιμάστε οπωσδήποτε το εστιατόριο – ένα από τα καλύτερα στην Ελλάδα. Ύστερα, γράψτε μου πως ήταν!

Όπως είπα, το μετρό συνεχίζει την πορεία του μέχρι τον Άγιο Δημήτριο στα νότια προάστια, αλλά αποφάσισα να μιλήσω μόνο για τους σταθμούς που ενδεχομένως να σας ενδιαφέρουν.

Μπορείτε επίσης να πάρετε ένα λεωφορείο ή ένα τρόλεϊ από το σταθμό. Μερικές από τις γραμμές που τον εξυπηρετούν είναι: 1, Β5, M2

Σας προτείνω όμως να κοιτάξετε το site του ΟΑΣΑ , και ειδικά να χρησιμοποιήσετε την εφαρμογή "αναζήτηση βέλτιστης διαδρομής"

Θυμηθείτε ότι το εισιτήριο (1€) είναι ενιαίο. Για 90’ μετά την επικύρωσή του μπορείτε να αλλάξετε γραμμή ή μέσω χωρίς περιορισμούς. Αν τα 90’ έχουν λήξη, αλλά βρίσκεστε στο τελευταίο μέσο, απλά επικυρώστε το μια δεύτερη φορά (από την άλλη μεριά).

Αν το επιθυμείτε, έξω από το σταθμό θα βρείτε ταξί. Να έχετε υπόψη σας ότι υπάρχει μια επιβάρυνση εφόσον πρόκειται για επιβίβαση από σταθμό. Μια άλλη επιβάρυνση θα υπάρχει εάν έχετε αποσκευές (που ζυγίζουν πάνω από 10 κιλά, με τοποθέτηση από τον οδηγό)

Τέλος, αν ο προορισμός σας είναι κοντά στο σταθμό Λαρίσης, μπορείτε να αποφασίσετε να πάτε με τα πόδια, που κάνει και καλά στην υγεία. Μόνο προσοχή στους δρόμους!

Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” was opened in 2001 to replace the old one “Elliniko International Airport”. The airport is 35 km far away the center of Athens, but is well-connected by an efficient service of bus, metro and train.

It is also possible to reach Athens by car across Attiki Odos, a modern highway which connects the airport with Athens.
From February 1st 2011 there is a flat fare for taxis:

There are four buses which connect you with Athens, and those are:

X93 to Kifisou ave, where you can get a KTEL bus (to go all over Greece...)

X95 to Syntagma Square, in Athens City center (metro 2 & 3). This is the most useful line.

X96 to Piraeus. It is perfect if you have to get the ship and no time to visit Athens

X97 to Dafni metro station (line 2). In fact, it is a bit difficult for you to have to take this line!

The ticket costs 5 euros wherever you want to go, and you can buy it either on the bus or on the ticket stand at the airport (arrival level). Buses leave the airport every 15-30 minutes 24/24 and 7/7, it depends on the hour.

It takes about 50 minutes to reach the center, but it depends on traffic... For further information please visit OASA site

You can also reach the center of Athens using the metro line 3, which connect the airport with Syntagma Square, and continue to Egaleo metro station (unuseful for you). The ticket costs 8€, 4€ if you are under18 or over60, or a student with valid Univestity I.D.. With the same ticket you can change line, get a trolley or a bus which bring you to your final destination (the ticket is valid for 90 minutes). To Syntagma metro station it takes about 40 minutes. Metro leaves every 30 minutes (from 06:35 to 23:35) 7 days a week.

By suburban railway, you can reach Ano Liossia, a municipality in the northwestern part of Athens.

KTEL, a pullman national company, will bring you from the airport to those destinations:

Rafina, Markopoulo and Lavrio .

Informations about Athens International Airport (AIA)

The airport takes his name after Eleftherios Venizelos, a prominent greek politician and ex Prime Minister.

There are two runways (03R/21L and 03L/21R), long respectively 4 km and 3,8 km. The airport is also suitable for the new plane A380.

In 2008, the airport handled 16.466.491 passengers, -0.4% than in 2007. However, the sixth phase (now on first) will allow the airport to accommodate as many as 50 million passengers a year.

In 2005 and 2006, the Airport was awarded the Skytrax award for best airport in Southern Europe.

AIA is the 26t busiest airport in Europe (2008 data).

L’Aeroporto Internazionale di Atene “Eleftherios Venizelos” venne aperto nel 2001, per sostituire il vecchio “Elliniko International Airport”. L’aeroporto dista circa 35 km dal centro di Atene, ma è ben collegato da bus, metro e una linea di ferrovia suburbana.

E’ inoltre possibile raggiungere Atene in macchina attraverso la “Attiki Odos”, una moderna autostrada a pedaggio (2,80€).

Sono presenti quattro linee di autobus che collegano l’aeroporto con la città:

X93 per Kifisou ave. da dove partono la maggioranza dei pullman KTEL.

X95 per Piazza Syntagma, la piazza del Parlamento. E’ la linea più trafficata (metro 2 e 3)

X96 per il Pireo. Questa linea è molto utile se dovete prendere la nave e non avete abbastanza tempo per visitare Atene

X97 per la stazione della metro Dafni, a sud-ovest del centro. Difficilmente vi sarà utile.

Il biglietto costa 5€, ed è possibile acquistarlo in vettura o nell’apposita edicola situata presso la fermata della linea x95. Gli autobus partono, durante le ore diurne ogni 15 minuti, mentre durante la notte le corse sono meno frequenti. Tuttavia effettuano corse 24 ore su 24 e 7 giorni su 7. Il tempo di percorrenza varia a seconda della destinazione e del traffico; in media, per raggiungere il centro occorrono 50 minuti. Per ulteriori informazioni visitate il sito dell' OASA.

In alternativa, è possibile prendere la metro. La linea 3 collega l’aeroporto con il comune di Egaleo, passando attraverso il centro (la fermata più comune è Syntagma). Il biglietto costa 8€, 4€ per gli under18.gli over60 e gli studenti universitari in possesso di regolare documento di riconoscimento universitario Con lo stesso biglietto è possibile raggiungere la propria destinazione finale, anche se questo comporta il cambio di linea o di mezzo (il biglietto è valido per 90 minuti). Il tragitto fino alla fermata Syntagma dura circa 40 minuti. Le corse vengono effettuate ogni 30 minuti tra le 06:35 e le 23:35 ogni giorno.

Usando la ferrovia suburbana è possibile raggiungere la stazione di Ano Liossia, un comune a nord-ovest di Atene.

Servendosi, infine, della compagnia di pullman privata KTEL, è possibile raggiungere le seguenti destinazioni: Rafina, Markopoulo e Lavrio. Il biglietto si acquista a bordo.

Ο Διεθνής Αερολιμένας Αθηνών άνοιξε το 2001, αντικαθιστώντας το παλιό αεροδρόμιο του Ελληνικού. Το αεροδρόμιο βρίσκεται στη περιοχή των Σπατών, περίπου 35 χλμ μακριά από το κέντρο της Αθήνας, αλλά είναι εύκολα προσβάσιμο με τα Μέσα Μαζικής Μεταφοράς.

Μπορείτε επίσης να χρησιμοποιήσετε το αυτοκίνητο μέσω της Αττικής Οδού, ένας μοντέρνος αυτοκινητόδρομος.

Υπάρχουνε τέσσερεις γραμμές των λεωφορείων που εξυπηρετούν όσους επιβάτες θέλουνε να φθάσουνε στην Αθήνα φθηνά και (σχετικά) άνετα. Οι γραμμές αυτές είναι.

Χ93 για τη Λεωφόρο Κηφισού, όπου αναχωρούν τα περισσότερα ΚΤΕΛ

Χ95 Πλατεία Συντάγματος. Ο δημοφιλέστερος προορισμός. Πρόσβαση σε Μετρό (γραμμή 2 και 3)

Χ96 θα σας πάει στον Πειραιά. Τέλεια επιλογή αν δεν έχετε αρκετό χρόνο να επισκεφτείτε την Αθήνα και ένα καράβι σας περιμένει στο λιμάνι.

Χ97 Έχει ως προορισμό το Δήμο Δάφνης, στα Νότια Προάστια. .

Το εισιτήριο κοστίζει 5€ (2,5€ το φοιτητικό), και μπορείτε να το προμηθευτείτε στο λεωφορείο ή στο πρακτορείο, που βρίσκεται στη στάση του Χ95. Η αναχώρηση γίνεται κάθε 15’ κατά της ώρες μέγιστης κίνησης, ενώ τη νύχτα είναι πιο σπάνιες. Όμως λειτουργούν 24/24 και 7/7. Ο χρόνος διαδρομής εξαρτάται από τον προορισμό σας και από την κίνηση, υπολογίστε όμως ότι, σε φυσιολογικές συνθήκες, η διαδρομή για το Σύνταγμα θα διαρκέσει περίπου 50’. Διαφορετικά, μπορείτε να χρησιμοποιήσετε το μετρό. Η γραμμή 3 (Αιγάλεω – Αεροδρόμιο) διασχίζει το κέντρο, κάνοντας στάση και στην κεντρική Πλατεία Συντάγματος (όπου και υπάρχει πρόσβαση στη γραμμή 2). Το εισιτήριο κοστίζει 8€ (4€ για φοιτητές, under18 και over60). Με το εισιτήριο αυτό θα μπορέσετε να φθάσετε στον τελικό προορισμό σας, ακόμη και αν αυτό απαιτεί αλλαγή γραμμής ή μεταφορικού μέσου (το εισιτήριο διαρκεί 90’). Η διαδρομή μέχρι το Σύνταγμα διαρκεί περίπου 40’. Αναχωρήσεις γίνονται κάθε 30’ από τις 06:35 μέχρι τις 23:35 κάθε μέρα.

Χρησιμοποιώντας τον προαστιακό σιδηρόδρομο μπορείτε να φθάσετε στο σταθμό των Άνω Λιοσίων.

Πληροφορίες για το Διεθνή Αερολιμένα Αθηνών (ΔΑΑ)

Το αεροδρόμιο διαθέτει δύο ασφαλτοστρωμένους διαδρόμους τροχοδρόμησης, τον 03R/21L μήκους 4.000 μέτρων, και τον 03L/21R μήκους 3.800 μέτρων.
