Lowering LDL

There can be a few causes for high cholesterol in the bloodstream. Some, such as smoking are quite obvious and may be reversed only through ending the dependency. Having diabetic issues or hypertension can be a cause, and there is no known cure but can be controlled to some degree. High cholesterol in some can be an inherited circumstance, which clearly will be not possible to control. What we will discuss here will be diet adjustments you can make to control cholesterol, and some of the dietary ways you can manage perhaps you haven’t heard of.

1.	Fiber. Research has shown that increasing soluble fiber by only five to ten grams per day can reduce LDL cholesterol by 5%. Fiber Rich Foods such as oatmeal for breakfast, beans with your salad for lunch in addition to broccoli for dinner are all wonderful sources of fiber. For snacks, add in pears and oranges.

2.	Avoid foods that are especially bad. Dietary cholesterol can raise your levels, however saturated fat will be still worse. The so-called “double-whammy” foods that often contain both are red meat, butter and dairy which has fat. By cutting down or removing some of these gives you a double hit on lowering your cholesterol.

3. Watch for Tran’s fat. Since 2006, by law manufacturers are required in the United States to record Tran’s fat on their dietary information label. However, they don’t have to catalog it if it’s lower than .5 grams per serving. Since you will want nothing to do with even lesser quantities of those substances, look for hydrogenated or partly hydrogenated vegetable oils on the labels, even if Tans fats are not reported.

4.	Eat more fish. Swap fatty fish such as salmon or tuna for beef. They are full of omega-3 fat, which are polyunsaturated fat and much better for your cholesterol than saturated fat within beef. These Salmon Nutritional Facts are going to back up the case that you should always look to place more fatty fish in your food intake.

5.	Eat eggs, but be careful how you cook them. This goes for pretty much any food, as the saturated fat to fry them can be what elevates the cholesterol. But eggs themselves are not any longer on the cholesterol blacklist.

6.	Oils. If you follow the directive of selecting oils and fats (olive and canola oils are an example) with two grams or less of saturated fat for each tablespoon, those oils can help you maintain levels of cholesterol. The products that use monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats are going to be the ones to look for.

7.	Recognize what “low-fat” in fact means. The name “low-fat” will mean the product contains three grams or a smaller amount of fat for each portion. Understand your portion size, because if you eat more than one serving (and sometimes the portion sizes are quite miniscule), you might still be getting a lot of additional fat, along with calories.

These are small steps to keep your levels of cholesterol under control, nevertheless every bit helps for the long run. It all comes down to routine, and if you are making a number of changes with your diet routine over a period of time, the outcomes are going to be there.

Lowering LDL

There is a great deal of mis-information about having elevated cholesterol and the therapies so we think this report may clear up a number of the myths and un-truths around.

You may have been told to want a regular cholesterol level, but what is regular cholesterol?

Is Cholesterol Really Your Enemy?

Let us understand more about cholesterol and what the job of cholesterol is inside of our bodies.

So What is Cholesterol?

Cholesterol is a fatty, waxy substance that resides inside of our blood and it is made mostly by your liver as well as the foods we eat. Cholesterol plays an important function in how every cell in the entire body functions.

Every cell membrane in our entire body includes cholesterol because it is cholesterol that can make our cells waterproof and as a result tough. With out any cholesterol we could not have a different biochemistry on both the inside and the outside of our cells.

When we hear about the dangers of high cholesterol the medical individuals are referring to a lot of cholesterol in the blood which can increase your danger of heart conditions.

How do we get too much Cholesterol?

When cholesterol levels inside of a part of our body is not adequate, the cell membrane becomes leaky or porous. This is a situation the entire body thinks of as an emergency and as a result releases a flood of corticoid hormones which work by sequestering cholesterol from 1 portion of the entire body and transporting it to places in which it is lacking.

Your entire body demands cholesterol to repair cell injury that occurs all of the time from minor scrapes on the skin to muscle tears and irritation inside of our entire body. We need to have cholesterol for our entire body to work effectively, but a lot of cholesterol in the blood can produce a build up of fat on your artery walls which narrows the arteries and can restrict blood flow.

This is when cholesterol becomes unsafe to our health.

What Medical Professionals Often Say

Medical professionals will tell you that you have a greater danger of acquiring a heart condition or stroke if your cholesterol levels are not effectively controlled.

When your cholesterol readings are too high, your medical doctor could initially advise diet and exercise, but will frequently advise prescription drugs like Lipitor.

Understanding About the Drug Lipitor

Lipitor is a drug which is recognized as an Atorvastatin which is a drug used to reduce high levels of cholesterol. It acts both by decreasing the production of cholesterol and increasing its speed of elimination of cholesterol from your body.

It is a drug taken as a pill by individuals who have hypercholesterolemia which is a higher cholesterol levels in the blood. Lipitor is given as a long-term preventative medicine for those who have high cholesterol readings and are as a result deemed a increased danger of experiencing a stroke or a heart attack.

Lipitor is Taken by Millions

There are millions of American people who take drugs to aid control of their cholesterol. Like most prescription medicines they may have side effects meaning they can often end up doing a lot more harm than the expected benefits..

Just because Lipitor is a well-known cholesterol reducing drug does not automatically indicate it is the very best way to reduced cholesterol.

As soon as you realize what cholesterol is needed for and the attainable lipitor side effects you may start to look for other approaches to reduced your cholesterol.

The Bad Side Effects

What are the possible unwanted Lipitor side effects?

With nearly all drugs there are side results and however doctors have a tendency not to highlight these as they say the advantages will outweigh any side effects from the drugs in most cases.

Medical professionals and pharmacists will frequently prescribe to their patients drugs but fail to explain (in full) how the drug operates and any potential side effects.

Cholesterol reducing drugs like Lipitor work by inhibiting the enzyme needed to manufacture cholesterol in the liver. A difficulty with this is that Lipitor also stops the body making important nutrients like CoQ10 which has been shown to improve heart health.

It is a acknowledged truth that Lipitor can cause a number of minor side effects like stomach upsets, constipation, flatulence, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, nausea, dyspepsia, headaches and insomnia.

There is also the chance of a lot more severe side-effects from taking Lipitor which may include liver issues, kidney issues, muscular disorders, erectile dysfunction, memory loss, fevers and fatigue.

Would You Chance It?

Like a number of drugs, the long-term results of Lipitor are not yet established. With numerous drugs the true results or side effects may only be clear many years following thesedrugs have been authorized and been in standard use.

Apart from the situation with regards to possible side effects, you should take into account the way which Lipitor functions to decrease cholesterol. Do you want to halt your body making the important nutrients like CoQ10?

There are Natural Options to Lipitor

In most cases even doctors agree that you ought to try shifting your diet program, take fish oil supplements and increase your exercise ahead of you taking drugs. All of these natural options may aid reduce cholesterol.

The two important factors that most doctors don’t focus on is far better rest and targeted supplements.

A good rest is important for us all as this is the time our body does its repairs. At times when we are asleep our cholesterol is working away to repair our cells inside of our body.

Rest also provides us the vitality needed to live a healthy life.

Ayurvedic Cardiofy is a great supplement that is targeted to boost and stimulate your cardiovascular system.

The cardiovascular system is what is important. It is the arteries that are the highway that enables the blood to move close to your entire body and your heart is the pump that moves the blood.

A good cardiovascular system is what we ought to all strive for and Cardiofy is a natural supplement that you can take to help. Cardiofy is formulated from natutral ingrediants and as a result it has no side effects.

Both a far better rest and targeted supplements like Cardiofy by Ayurveda Medicine will do a lot more for your health than most drugs.

Lowering LDL

Herb that controls diabetes, cholesterol, joint pains and more

This supplement is a boon for women who experience the trauma of menstrual cramps every month. It is known by its name because its light yellow flowers open at dusk.

The oil of evening primrose is very rich in polysaturated comega-6 fatty acids, which are necessary fatty acids that body needs to complete numerous functions including insulin absorption, regulating the heart, and regulating mood. The body does not manufacture these fatty acids on its own, so they have to be taken as food or diet supplements. Aside from the omega-6 fatty acids, evening primrose oil has linoleic acid and gamma-linolenic acid (“GLA”). Both of these acids are very important and very beneficial to general well-being. GLA accounts for most of the supplement’s therapeutic effects.

Eczema: One of the leading uses of evening primrose oil is to treat eczema, an allergic skin condition that may develop if the body has trouble converting fats derived from food into GLA. In a study of 60 people with eczema GLA in evening primrose oil was found to be superior in reducing the itching and oozing of the condition. 3-4 months use of this nutritional supplement helps in alleviating itching and reduce the need for topical steroid creams and drugs with their unpleasant side effects.

Diabetes: In people with diabetes, the GLA in evening primrose oil has been helpful in preventing nerve damage (neuropathy). In people with mild diabetic neuropathy, one year of treatment evening primrose oil reduced numbness and tingling, loss of sensation and other symptoms of the disorder
better than other sources of GLA, suggesting that evening primrose oil may be of value in reversing neuropathy.

Menstrual Disorders: Evening primrose oil can be effective for menstrual disorders such as premenstrual syndrome, menstrual cramps, and endometriosis because of its GLA content. Oil blocks the inflammatory prostaglandins that cause menstrual cramps. It also eases breast tenderness
experienced by women just before periods and to some extent plays a role in reversing infertililty also.

Joint Pains: According to a study, swelling and pain in joint symptoms have been seen to improve when evening primrose oil supplements are used. Acne, muscle pain and rosacea that involve inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis may also be alleviated.

Cholesterol: Evening primrose oil is said to benefit heart patients by lowering blood cholesterol and reducing the risk of blood clots. Evening primrose oil has shown gradual decrease in triglyceride levels by increasing HDL and reducing LDL. Including evening primrose oil supplements can reduce high blood pressure. It’s ability to reduce high serum cholesterol and blood pressure may take several weeks to notice results.

Dosage: Many experts recommend buying evening primrose

Lowering LDL

Does Red Yeast Rice Lower Cholesterol?

Article  by Dr Sam Robbins

Red Yeast Rice is a traditional Chinese medicine which is known to have cholesterol lowering properties. It is extracted from rice which has been fermented with a type of yeast called Monascus purpureus. It is used not only as medicine but also as food colouring, additive and preservative.

The cholesterol lowering properties of Red Yeast Rice (RYR) come from the naturally occuring substances called monacolins in it. In particular, Monacolin K resembles the statin Lovastatin, which is the key component of the cholesterol lowering drug, Mevacor. For those who have been advised to lower their cholesterol levels and are concerned about the side effects of statin drugs like liver dysfunction, muscle atrophy etc., Red Yeast Rice is a natural alternative.

Red Yeast Rice was judged by the Physician’s Desk Reference On Nutritional Supplements to “significantly reduce total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol and total triglyceride concentrations, compared to a placebo.”

Studies have shown that taking 2.4 g of Red Yeast Rice per day reduced LDL or bad cholesterol levels by 22% and total cholesterol by 16% in 12 weeks. Another study showed that taking 1.2g of RYR lowered LDL levels by 26% in just 8 weeks. In China and other Asian countries, the daily intake of Red Yeast Rice is much more as it is used commonly as an ingredient in many preparations such as Peking Duck.

READ this Special Report to know the TRUTH about Red Yeast Rice. Click the link below and read the Doctor’s opinion.http://TheCholesterolBlog.info/week2/RedYeastRiceLowerCholesterol.

Besides reducing cholesterol, Red Yeast Rice also has many other side benefits:* Chemopreventive: It inhibits colon cancer.

* Reduces cardiac mortality: It has been found that in people who already had a history of heart attacks, Red Yeast Rice reduced heart attack and death by cardiac reasons by 45% compared to the placebo group.

* Atherosclerosis: Building up of cholesterol plaque and endothelial damage is inhibited by RYR.

* Type II diabetes/ Coronary disease: Studies have shown that Red Yeast Rice reduces non-fatal heart attack by 64%, fatal heart attacks by 58%, sudden death from coronary heart disease by 27% as against the placebo group in Type 2 diabetes with coronary heart disease.

* Anitmutagenic/ antioxidant : Red yeast Rice exhibits anti-oxidant and anti-cancer properties.

* Neuroprotective: It exhibits a protective effect against amyloid beta peptide induced neurotoxicity, thereby benefitting people with Alzhemiers and other neurodegenerative disorders.

The amount of monacolins obtained from RYR extracts vary a lot. There are different strains of yeasts and different types of fermentation methods used. The amount of monacolins in RYR ranges from 0% to 0.58%. So even though studies have shown

Lowering LDL

About Pecans

A pecan’s name comes from the native Algonquian word meaning “a nut that requires a stone to crack.” The pecan nut is consumed as-is and used as an ingredient in baked goods and confections. Pecans are a good source of protein, the antioxidants and plant sterols pecan nuts contain may also improve cholesterol status by reducing the “bad” LDL cholesterol levels. Despite only having commercially produced the nut since the 1880s, U.S. growers now provide roughly 90 percent of the world’s pecans, with an annual crop of about 200 million pounds worth about 0 million dollars.

World-wide consumption of low-fat and healthy foods is increasing as more people are recognizing the need for a healthy lifestyle. The search for foods that contribute to a healthy diet and that aid in disease prevention has led to the identification of plant foods that have important phytonutrients, micronutrients, proteins, fiber and sterols.

Edible tree nuts are such foods, since they contain nutrients that work independently or in harmony with other foods.

Before the early 1920′s, pecans were hand-shelled by consumers. Then with the widespread development of commercial shelling equipment, the pecan industry began to really grow. Pecan processing was developed, along with the equipment used for sizing nuts, separation of faulty meats and shells, cracking, grading of meats, drying and packaging. Improvements in areas such as temperature and humidity control have also contributed to the increasing popularity of pecans.

Since about 1948 more than 80% of the pecans sold have been processed as shelled nuts. Most shelling plants operate in the fall months. Some of the largest processing pecan plants can have as many as 14 cracking machines with a capacity of over 150,000 pounds a day and over 30 million pounds each pecan season.

Pecans are cracked by a special machine that applies force to both ends of each nut.

The cracked pecans are then placed on a conveyer, where they are moved to the Sheller machines. Meats and shells are separated by a series of shaker screens. The shelled pecans are then separated out into grades as the pieces pass over rapidly vibrating machines with holes of many different sizes.

After sorting the moisture in the pecans is reduced by rapidly circulating dry air through the pecan meats. Unshelled pecans are usually kept refrigerated as soon as possible after the harvest to help maintain freshness. Freezing pecans to keep them fresh from season to season is an excellent method for storage. With proper chill there is almost no detectable decrease in the pecans nutrition or taste quality.

Lowering LDL

Which beverage is more beneficial? Wine or Beer.

If you ask people which beverage they believe is better for our health- according to surveys, the majority of people say that red wine is better. That’s the perception, but many studies suggest that beer is more healthy. I’ am afraid the jury is still out on that question . What we do know is that according to studies, both wine and beer, consumed daily, in the recommended amounts are good for our health. And apart from being good for our health they both have a lot in common. We can cook with wine and beer, sometimes interchangeably. They both reduce stress and can give us a better nights sleep. I thought it would be interesting to analyze some of the current nutritional information for beer and wine and compare the two.

  One of the reasons wine is good for our health is because is contains antioxidants. But so does beer. Beer has an antioxidant that wine doesn’t have called xanthohumol. This antioxidant is actually said to inhibit the grow of cancer cells.

  Beer contains fiber and B vitamins such as folic acid. It was originally thought that wine did not contain fiber, but recent research from Spain, which analyzed Spanish red wines, concluded that red wines do contain fiber. Spanish white wines also contained fiber, but had far less than red.

  Beer contains silicon, a mineral which helps bone density. Wine doesn’t have silicon, but does contain resveratrol, which is said to strengthen bone density. Resveratrol is an antioxidant which is good for the heart.

  Beer is fat free and cholesterol free. Wine also doesn’t contain any cholesterol or fat.

  Beer is good for the kidneys and may reduce the risk of kidney stones. Nutritionals are not sure exactly what it is in beer that is beneficial to the kidneys. Studies have shown that the regular consumption of red wine will also lower the risk of kidney stones and is beneficial for internal organs in general.

  Wine may reduce your risk of stroke. Many studies suggest drinking wine or beer as they are both packed with heart healthy antioxidants. Wine contains flavonoids and tannins which are said to reduce cardiovascular disease.

Lowering LDL

Moderate Your Intake Of High Cholesterol Foods

Article  by Ned D’Agostino

Most of the foods that are available today are high in cholesterol. Cholesterol has been a sensitive issue for the past few decades. Understanding the impact of cholesterol in general and high cholesterol in particular is important to maintain our health as well as our quality of life.

Medical research shows that high cholesterol food is the main cause of morbid cardio-vascular conditions resulting in strokes and heart attacks. The patient’s health is aggravated further if the morbid cardio-vascular condition is accompanied by hypertension, smoking, obesity, and hereditary factors.

When we speak of ‘cholesterol’ we are talking about three categories of cholesterol: good cholesterol (HDL), bad cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides. This means that not all cholesterol is bad. Foods rich in Omega-3 fats like fish are helpful in reducing LDL levels and are advised for patients suffering from cholesterol-caused diseases.

The food containing cholesterol is not always to blame for cholesterol related problems. The way the food is cooked, the medium used to cook the food, and even the foods eaten along with basic food are all contributory factors to high levels of bad cholesterol. Ignorance of the facts about cholesterol and how they affect our health has often led to ridiculous situations about certain foods. Once upon a time eggs were a considered a must-have food for proper health; then it was discovered that eggs were rich in bad cholesterol, and thenceforth eggs were banished from the breakfast, lunch and dinner tables. Now we are advised to have the whites of the eggs but to stay away from the yolks!

These swings in favor of or against cholesterol-containing foods confuses the man on the street. Eggs are not the main culprit in raising the level of bad cholesterol. The thing to avoid is not eggs by themselves, but to say no to the large helpings of bacon, cheese and sausages on the side. Paying attention to the way in which your food is cooked will pay off more than simply concentrating on including this and excluding that food from your diet.

In general you should avoid greasy foods which are fried or deep fried. You take a perfectly healthy, non-cholesterol-aggravating eggplant, then you coat it in batter and deep fry it… that’s a perfect recipe for a whole slew of cardio-vascular problems! Yes, there are some foods which are bad for your heart which you must avoid. All animal products like meat, poultry, dairy produce and egg yolks are known contributors to high cholesterol levels in the blood. So go easy on those red meats, for your heart’s sake!

Even if you only select those items that are low in bad cholesterol, you may still end up with choked arteries if you are not watchful about the saturated fats that you take in. This is because a high intake of saturated fats triggers a sharp increase of LDL levels as well as triglycerides.

The key to good health it

Lowering LDL

The Cholesterol Story

Many persons become frightened when told that their cholesterol levels are elevated. They immediately think that just the elevation of cholesterol places them at “heart attack door”. The truth is that there is more to cholesterol than that! High cholesterol does not reliably identify all people with hidden heart disease, nor does just lowering it cure anyone of heart disease.

Cholesterol is a soft, waxy substance made by the body. It is found among the fats in the bloodstream and in all your body’s cells. Cholesterol is not a “bad guy”. It is beneficial to the body. Our bodies need it to form cell membranes, to produce bile acids for digestion and to make hormones and vitamin D. Cholesterol and other fats cannot dissolve in the blood. They have to be transported to and from the cells by special carriers called lipoproteins. There are several kinds, but the ones I will be focusing on are low-density lipoprotein (LDL, the so called “bad cholesterol”) and high-density lipoprotein (HDL, the “good cholesterol”). LDL transports cholesterol to the cells, whereas HDL transports cholesterol away from the cells. Think of LDL as a dump truck that drops garbage on the street (blocking your arteries) and HDL as the street sweeper that cleans it up. If there are more dump trucks than street sweepers, the street will be congested.

When one has excess LDL, too much cholesterol can be deposited into the walls of the arteries. On the other hand, insufficient HDL impairs cholesterol transport away from the walls of the arteries for disposal in the liver. Therefore too much LDL and or not enough HDL can set the stage for atherosclerosis. This is the process in which deposits of fats, cholesterol, cellular waste products, calcium and other substances build up in the inner lining of an artery forming plaque. Plaques can grow large enough to significantly reduce the flow of blood through an artery. They can rupture and cause blood clots to form. These clots can block blood flow or break off and travel to another part of the body. If either happens and blocks a blood vessel that feeds the heart, it causes a heart attack. If this occurs in the brain, it causes a stroke. And if blood supply to the arms or legs is reduced, it can lead to poor circulation.

Research has shown that it is the oxidation of LDL that causes the most damage to the arteries. Oxidation or free radical development is the process that changes the composition of this essential nutrient, turning it into a destructive compound. This oxidized LDL injuries the innermost lining of the arterial wall called the endothelium and causes inflammation. So it is the absolute LDL level and LDL oxidation that are involved in atherosclerosis and increasing heart attack risk.

Apart from LDL-cholesterol, there are other risk factors for developing a heart attack or stroke. They include

Lowering LDL

How To Lower Cholesterol Naturally

Article  by Mary Ruddy

Lowering your cholesterol naturally can seem like a very slow, difficult and never ending process. But you know, it does not have to be that way. With the effects that statins – cholesterol lowering prescription medications – have on our bodies, it makes more sense in the long run to try our best to lower our cholesterol levels in as natural a way as possible.

Now, I hear you asking, who is going to show me how to lower cholesterol naturally? Well, I am hoping that I am. And here is why. As you know there are endless articles, books, reports etc. written on the subject and I have probably read most of them! My cholesterol was extremely high and, I could not use the traditional prescribed medications because of other health issues, so I had to research as much information as possible to give myself the best chance of beating the odds and lowering my cholesterol levels as quickly, safely and naturally as possible. Sadly heart disease runs in my family and I had lost family members and friends to the disease so I was determined I would not become another heart disease statistic. I spoke to several people around the world who had been in the same boat I was now in and I questioned them thoroughly to find out what they had done to achieve lower cholesterol levels and more importantly, find out if they were managing to maintain those levels. I read every bit of material available and I tried all kinds of supplements, herbal remedies etc.

After all I have gone through and achieved, I can definitely share the good news, that it is possible to lower your cholesterol levels naturally. Now of course your daily diet is going to play a big part in all of this. I mean you cannot continue to eat foods high in saturated fats and expect your cholesterol levels to just pop back to normal! No, you must review the foods you eat and foods that can help to lower cholesterol naturally are oatmeal, oat bran, high fibre foods, fish, omega 3, walnuts, almonds, other nuts, and olive oil. You will need to cut back on your saturated fats like those found in full fat dairy products.

I know you are probably thinking, gosh, how boring, I won’t be able to eat the foods I like! Well, you know, you came here because you wanted to know how to lower cholesterol naturally and if you follow through, you will be very surprised at how good you will begin to feel as your cholesterol levels start to lower. I can tell you right now that I have more energy, more focus, more concentration and I generally feel great and alive! You can still have your favourite foods, just in moderation.

I did not focus solely on changing my diet. That was a major part of it, but given my cholesterol level was in the high risk category for heart disease, stroke or even worse death, I needed some extra help to get my levels down and maintain them going forward. So I took some natural supplements to assist me but only after I checked out every

Ever since cholesterol lowering prescription drugs were introduced to the medical care profession, more and more of us who are diagnosed with higher than normal levels of LDL cholesterol levels have been prescribed these drugs, in the hope of controlling this problem. For some of us, they have a positive effect in doing just that, but they all have some side affects, some to a greater degree than others. Patients mainly complain of sore muscles after taking the “Staten” cholesterol controller drugs, mainly due to liver reaction to their intake.

There is no need to chance any liver degradation( or even the slightest reaction to any of our other organs) through the use of a prescribed drug when some of the foods we normally ingest will do the job just as well… and in some cases…a lot better and surely infinitely safer. Lets begin with beans. Now, that’s a food people do not eat a lot of. Yes, it has some unpleasant after effects, but I don’t believe there is record of any organ degradation from partaking of some of these legumes? The key reason of course is their high fiber content. Fiber “blocks” cholesterol from being absorbed into the intestinal walls and this “bad” cholesterol is expelled with normal excretion soon after. An 8 oz. portion of regular canned beans, preferably containing a low sugar content every other day, it has been estimated, will usually keep your LDL levels in toe. Beans have untold other medical benefits, but it is not the purpose to be explained here.

There are other foods in the herb family which have similar benefits as do our friendly legume family of beans and it is more than justified to give honorable mention here. Garlic is probably one of the most universal medicinally active herb known in our food arsenal. Garlic, which contains a compound called Ajoene, it has been found through research, actually inhibits the production of lipids, thus lowering blood cholesterol. Garlic also thins the blood, thus lessening the effects of artery clogging due to past cholesterol buildup. Garlic in the diet has been found to lower the “bad” LDL cholesterol, while raising the levels of the “good” HDL cholesterol. It has been suggested that just one clove of garlic each day should keep LDL and HDL cholesterol levels at near optimum levels with normal daily levels of cholesterol intake. Garlic should be taken in its raw form to be most effective. An example is of one level teaspoonful of raw chopped garlic and keeping jar refrigerated
for future use.

Not only do beans and garlic help keep our cholesterol levels in the safe range, but a reasonable breakfast of 1/2 to 3/4 cup of cooked oatmeal will help keep those levels in the safe range. Oatmeal has a twofold benefit in our body. It

Lowering LDL

Cholesterol:The best friend of obesity

Cholesterol:The best friend of obesity

What is cholesterol?

Most people think that cholesterol is a kind of fat, but actually it’s an alcohol. It serves numerous functions in the body, such as assisting the permeability of cell membranes and serving as the base of sex hormone molecules, cortisol, and Vitamin D.

How do we get cholesterol?

Our livers naturally produce cholesterol — approximately 1 gram of the substance per day. We store it in the gallbladder. We also get cholesterol through our diets.

How does cholesterol travel in the body?

Cholesterol is shuttled about by substances known as lipoproteins. Major lipoprotein classes include chylomicrons, high density lipoproteins (HDL), and low density lipoproteins (LDL). There are also two more important classes — intermediate density lipoproteins (IDL) and very low density lipoproteins (VLDL). Different lipoproteins play vastly different biochemical roles. Indeed, one of the great debates in dietary science over the past half-a-century has centered around the roles of lipoproteins as they relate to cholesterol transport and deposition.

What are some foods that contain dietary cholesterol?

    * Egg yolks
* Meats
* Lard
* Butter
* Other products made from or with animal fats
* Flaxseeds
* Peanuts and almonds
* Peas
* Milk

How is testing is typically done to determine cholesterol levels in the blood?

Standard tests look for levels of HDLs, LDLs, and triglycerides. These tests do not, however, differentiate between LDL and VLDL levels. As you’ll see if you keep reading this website, this oversight potentially holds devastating consequences.

Is there a debate about whether dietary cholesterol is really bad for you?

Contrary to what you might have heard from the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association, many medical professionals, and your neighbor, yes — good scientists and doctors disagree about this issue!

In fact, the very idea that there’s a consensus among physicians and researchers that dietary cholesterol is an unmitigated evil is, I believe, problematic. Scientists who challenge this opinion find themselves often painted as crackpots or as shills of the beef and poultry industry. The reality, however, is that the chemistry of cholesterol is complicated. And evidence abounds to finger dietary carbohydrates — not dietary cholesterol! — as the likely source of many of society’s health problems.

For more information about the myths and realities of cholesterol, I commend you to check out Good Calories, Bad Calories, a stellar, well-researched book written by award winning science journalist, Gary Taubes.

Lowering LDL

The Truth About Ldl Cholesterol

I’m going to allow you to in on something shocking. Cholesterol isn’t the main wrongdoer in heart disease. I do know this may be hard to consider in any case we now have heard about the risks of excessive ldl cholesterol from our doctors, and the media. However the reality is, it isn’t the cholesterol levels themselves or the ldl cholesterol containing foods which are the culprits in heart illness, it is those meals and some other thing that causes inflammation in your physique that is the major cause of coronary heart illness (in addition to diabetes and high blood strain).
What’s ldl cholesterol and why do we’d like it?

Cholesterol is a gentle, waxy substance found among the lipids (fat) within the bloodstream and in all your body’s cells. It’s an important part of a healthy body as a result of it’s used to form cell membranes. Ldl cholesterol additionally aids within the manufacture of bile (which helps digest fats), and can also be essential for the metabolism of fat soluble vitamins, together with vitamins A, D, E and K. It is the main precursor for the synthesis of vitamin D and of the assorted steroid hormones (which embody cortisol and aldosterone in the adrenal glands, and the sex hormones progesterone, the assorted estrogens, testosterone, and derivatives ).
How could one thing so good be so dangerous?

Cholesterol has been wrongly accused because upon inspection of the arteries of somebody at risk for a coronary heart assault, levels of cholesterol and plaque build up are very high. Cholesterol is definitely being transported to tissues as a part of an inflammatory response that’s there to restore damage. It should only lodge itself onto the artery and trigger plaque if the artery has turn out to be damaged. Inflammation in the artery is what causes this damage. In reality, it’s now identified that the coronary illness that causes coronary heart assaults is now thought of to be prompted largely from persistent inflammation.

Accountable cholesterol for coronary heart attacks could be the equal of blaming elevated police safety in a excessive crime area. It was not the police that brought about the crime, they were simply placed there in response to the crimes.
A more necessary query to ask ourselves, is how will we lower the amount of inflammation in our our bodies in order that ldl cholesterol will not bind to our arteries?

We should decrease all of these things that we do this trigger irritation and enhance things that decrease inflammation. Before everything we must avoid meals that cause irritation in our bodies. Any food that causes a quick rise in blood insulin levels will rapidly cause irritation within the body. These meals are sugar, white breads, most dairy products and almost all packaged and processed foods. What does this leave you with? Fresh, wholesome meals resembling fruits, greens, lean animal proteins, nuts, and plenty and
