COTTONWOOD CROSSING

A stolen piece of Texas land. A crooked survey. And a dangerous enemy who will stop at nothing to take it.

When Eldridge Sample finally begins to believe he has found a place worth staying, trouble comes riding up the road to Pawnee Creek.

Wren Calloway and her children have built a life on a hard-won parcel along the creek, working the land and putting the past behind them. But the land has attracted the attention of powerful men who see something more valuable than a family homestead.

A shell company files a competing claim.

Then a man arrives carrying federal credentials and a surveyor's equipment, claiming he's there to establish the true boundaries of the property.

But Eldridge knows something isn't right.

The surveyor isn't working for the federal government.

He's working for a powerful Texas attorney named Hoke Lattrell, a man with a history of stealing land through fraudulent claims, shell companies, and legal maneuvering. Behind Lattrell stands an even bigger operation—one that has already driven other families from their homes.

And this time, Wren Calloway refuses to move.

With a federal investigation hanging in the balance, a massive storm threatening to flood the roads, and the fraudulent survey racing toward the county recorder's office, Eldridge must cross a flooded Texas frontier to stop the land grab before it becomes permanent.

Then the enemy changes tactics.

The legal battle becomes a fight for survival.

With outlaws closing in, guns drawn, witnesses in danger, and Wren's children caught in the middle, Eldridge discovers that defending a piece of land means defending everything that has been built on it.

Because some men steal land with lawyers.

Others come with guns.

And when they finally come for Cottonwood Crossing, they'll find a family that has learned how to fight back.

COTTONWOOD CROSSING is a gritty Texas Western adventure and Western thriller filled with frontier justice, land disputes, outlaw violence, federal marshals, gunfights, rugged ranch country, dangerous trails, and the relentless struggle to protect a home in the Old West.

If you love action-packed Westerns, frontier adventures, Texas Rangers and marshals, land-grab conspiracies, strong Western characters, and gritty Old West justice, saddle up for COTTONWOOD CROSSING.

I've talked before about "Tee Shirt philosophy".

It's the kind of simple, punchy wisdom you can fit on the front of a shirt to help get you through the day.

Sometimes we just need a quick reminder when our perfect plans inevitably get punched in the face.

When the chaos swirls and the inner critic starts talking,

you need a mental shortcut to reset your attitude and focus.

So today, I compiled a list.

Not a to-do list, though I am a master of making those.

This is a list of when I need to find my focus and get back to work:

"A goal unwritten and unplanned is a dream.

A dream is not real. A goal that is written is a plan. A plan is real." Stop wishing and start mapping out your destination.

"Being busy is not the same as being productive. Busy is the enemy." It is incredibly easy to mistake the planning for the doing, but taking a start that equals a draw is just a loss.
"The problem isn’t the problem. Our attitude about the problem is the problem." I borrowed this from a pirate, but it is the absolute truth. We can't control the world around us, but we can completely control our own reactions to it.
"If the wind isn’t blowing, take to the oars." Luck and the tides are fickle mistresses; don't blame the sea or wait for luck to magically push you forward.
"If the door of opportunity won’t open, make a breach." When the gatekeepers tell you no, find a way to blow a hole in the wall and walk through anyway to put your plans in motion.
"In the absence of leadership, I will assume command until I am relieved of duty." Look around—we are in an absence of leadership at almost every level. Stop waiting for politicians or bosses to fix the mess and take charge yourself.
"You can’t be mad at a scorpion for it’s stinger." Whether it's corrupt politicians or internet trolls, some people just act out their nature. Accept it, ignore the noise, and focus on what you can actually control.
"Slow is smooth and smooth is fast." This is how you build muscle memory. Stop demanding overnight success and focus on getting 1% better every day.
"Two is one, one is none." This is a basic rule of preparation. The world is unpredictable, so always have a backup plan ready to go when things go off the rails.
"Pain is temporary. Suffering is optional." The physical grind of an ultramarathon or the mental strain of a failing business might hurt, but how you endure it is entirely up to your attitude.

These little phrases are mental shortcuts.

They remind us to put our "ass in seat," tune out the distractions, and do the work required to level up.

Find the quote that sparks a fire in you today.

Write it on a sticky note, print it on a tee shirt,

or just say it in the mirror.

Then

GET AFTER IT.

Fix It. Make it Better. Improve It. Repeat.

The Marines called them “Old Bastards”

And they’re still the only Army unit to be inducted into the Corps

https://youtu.be/fsutbAlvP1E?si=2YHXg2hoOFGV8y0s

Hey it’s Chris,

You may have been with me awhile, but if you’re new, let’s go over one of my big hairy audacious goals again.

A long time ago, I moved to Los Angeles to make movies.

I won a couple of awards for comedy shorts, and I pitched a lot of producers while I wrote scripts and knocked on doors and begged.

Then life intervened and in this timeline, at least, I went corporate for awhile and small business owner and now…

ONE MAN MEDIA COMPANY

Where I write books, and make videos and audiobooks for myself.

But I hold a not so secret hope in my heart

I’m going to make movies (based on my stories) and I keep experimenting with it.

I have a project in what I’d call pre-production right now, where I’m storyboarding a script for a brand new story- did you know there were women terrorists in Victorian London?

And then I ran across these guys, the Old Bastards.

It brought to mind Saving Private Ryan, and Band of Brothers, which were both close to perfect. It brought to mind the sequel to Band of Brothers, The Pacific (was that the name?) which wasn’t quite as good, but then, it had to live up to the Band of Brothers hype.

And I put this on the TO BE MADE list

There are some steps to it: I’ve got the book done, I’ve got the audiobook done.

Next is the Script and storyboards, and then prompts for AI on the storyboards.

And they have to release SEEDANCE to us and make it affordable.

Then it’s prompting about 1000+ 8 second clips, organize them by scene and compile into a movie

Add effects, Add voices, Add swelling orchestral score

And then…

Fix it. Make it better. Improve it.

I need a team of folks to help me build it, even though I did all the other stuff in the past by myself.

But that’s the goal: Get better every day by one philosophy…

GET AFTER IT

So what I want to know: that’s my big goal. Tell me yours in the comments.
