31st August 2010 – Yes, I agree, this has to be my weirdest Totty Tuesday to date. But hey, what the hell! It wouldn’t do if we all liked the same people. And just for the record, I know one other person who likes him. And not even someone online, someone I know in real life! I think she was as shocked to find another Cera fan as I was, to be fair.

I don’t quite get it, if I’m honest. He’s not good looking. He’s pretty geeky and wimpy looking, really. Even though he does kick major ass as Scott Pilgrim. But it’s not even that… I kinda liked him in Nick and Norah’s Infinate Playlist. Perhaps it’s the geekiness, or the nice guy thing? Who knows? If anyone finds out, can you let me know?

Anyway, whether you think I’m crazy or not, go and check out Scott Pilgrim vs The World. It’s a top film. Seriously ace.

25th August 2010 – Hey everyone! This is just going to a quick post as I’m a busy girly. I’m busy over here. “Here” is my new project. I’ve started a site called Erotica For All which is just that; a place for readers and writers of erotica, and all those in between. The idea is that authors can use it as a promotional tool, and readers use it as a central hub to go and find information about new authors, new releases and even enter competitions.

The site is very much in its infancy. In fact, it’s not even a week old, so there’s not much content there yet. However, I’m currently uploading lots of Author Profiles which I’ve been sent, so keep checking back to find new stuff! If you’re a reader, head on over there and see what’s going on. 24th August 2010 – I watched Role Models again the other day. Such a funny film, if you haven’t seen it, check it out. Anyway, that’s what made me think about having Seann William Scott as this week’s Totty Tuesday. Now, don’t get me wrong, he’s no Paul Rudd, but he’s still pretty damn gorgeous.

In the films I’ve seen him in (which include aforementioned Role Models, The Dukes of Hazzard, American Pie, Evolution, Dude, Where’s My Car? and Road Trip) he always seems to play the joker. Looking at him, you can see why. He’s just got that kind of face, he’s always looks as though he’s about to piss himself laughing and not take anything seriously. But hey, with a body like that, who cares? He seems like a funny guy and he looks good. So let us commence… well, looking at him, I guess. Enjoy.

22nd August 2010 – Fabulous news – eBook Addict reviewed my little antho, The Great Outdoors, and they liked it!

Here’s what they had to say:

The two short stories offered in The Great Outdoors was a walk on the wild side or more accurately two hikes down a fun erotic path of adventurous sex. “A Birds Eye View” and “Fun in the Forest” are tales of eager and uninhibited heroines taking advantage of serendipitous events that afford them uniquely different sexual interludes. “A Bird’s Eye View” was a hot charge of adrenalin that ended on an embarrassingly funny note.  I could see this happening in reality. “Fun in the Forest” is the longer of the two works (though the entire offering is only about 12 pages long) and my favorite.  A Scottish gamekeeper helping a damsel in distress conjured erotic images of Gerard Butler and a mature Sean Connery for me. What can I say?  It’s that accent, yummy!  British colloquialism/verbiage “…a good seeing to” and “doodle” put me in the appropriate frame of mind and setting and I was in the thick of the adventures in no time. The Great Outdoors is a quick fun read I thoroughly enjoyed.  Rule Britannia, Ms. Felthouse!

I’ve read and adored several of Dorothy Koomson’s books and so was quite excited when this one was released. Had I known was it was about, I probably wouldn’t have been quite so excited, but I’d have still grabbed it from the bookshop shelf regardless.

Koomson’s books can be hard to categorise. They’re kind of chick lit, but not. Despite their cute colourful covers, they’re not really light and fluffy. They’re actually pretty dark and deal with some of the more unpleasant facets of human life. Don’t get me wrong, they’re still spectacular and I love them, they’re just not what you’d class as beach reading.

**spoiler alert** The Ice Cream Girls deals with rape, domestic violence, child grooming and murder. So you see, it’s not really chick lit, after all. It certainly won’t make you feel all happy and bubbly at the end. Or at any point, really. That’s not to say it’s not fabulous though, because it is.

It deals with Poppy and Serena, two women who ended up being accused of a terrible crime when they were teenagers. Their faces were all over the papers, and both girls went to trial. Poppy was sentenced with murder, Serena got off. Despite this, Serena’s life was never the same again and she was desperate to get away from her past. Which is why when she met the man she would eventually marry, she never enlightened him about her past and has, to this day, worried that her secret would be revealed and she’d lose everything.

Sadly, this looks set to happen. Wrongly convicted, Poppy has served her sentence and is now a free woman. And she wants to find Serena and get to confess and clear Poppy’s name. Trouble is, Serena didn’t do it. Nor did Poppy. Neither woman believes the other. Both women hate the fact they’re being forced to face up to their past, but unfortunately for them, they’re going to have to if they want to have a future.

Overall, this is a pretty harrowing read. There’s nothing in here that’s light-hearted or feelgood, so if that’s what you’re looking for, I’d look elsewhere. If, however, you’re looking for a riveting read which ends up being more like a murder mystery, then give The Ice Cream Girls a whirl. It’s really harrowing in places, and I even found myself having to stop midway through some passages, it’s so difficult to digest. But fair play to Koomson, she summed it up wonderfully in the ‘About the Book’ section at the end (don’t skip to it, it’ll probably give the game away) and she’s done a great job of covering such difficult material.

A great, if not cheerful, read.

Book eight of The Morganville Vampires begins with something pretty normal – laundry. Claire’s screwed up and dyed everyone’s laundry pink. Not the end of the world for her and Eve, but the boys are going to be pretty peeved. Soon, though, it’s the least of Claire’s worries.

Bad-ass vampire Morley shows his face again and demands that Claire use her influence over Amelie to get him and his comrades out of town. Otherwise he’ll kill Eve and Shane. Naturally, Claire agrees, despite having no idea how she’s going to get Amelie to allow it. Soon, it appears her problem has been solved, as some “people passes” are delivered to her. Just as she’s about to rejoice, she realises they’re not for Morley and his crew, but for her, Shane, Eve and Michael. Amelie has allowed them to leave town, just for a little while so they can help Michael chase his dream of becoming a music sensation. That means one thing… road trip!

The four are excited, until they find out they must have someone accompanying them. And that someone, unfortunately, is unpopular vampire Oliver. He’s determined to stop them having any fun, and it appears he’s doing a damn good job of it.  Luckily, his bodyguard status helps them out when the three humans end up in jail for a crime they didn’t commit. Things really start hotting up when Morley, not Oliver, busts them out, only to bundle them onto a bus full of vampires and humans they’ve brought along to snack on.

Claire, Shane and Eve have no idea what their destination is, why they’ve been dragged along, and how the hell they’re going to get out of their predicament. Will Oliver and Michael come through? Or are the humans destined to be a snack after all, far away from Morganville and Amelie’s protection? Only one way to find out…

I’m quite disappointed that the book ended where it did, especially since I’ve got to wait until later in the year to read the next one. However, I thought it was a great read and couldn’t put it down. It was interesting to see the characters somewhere other than Morganville, and how this affected them and their actions. A great read, and with the kind of ending that doesn’t really hint what’s going to happen next… so this could go anywhere! I can’t wait to find out where that is.

Fade Out is the seventh book in Rachel Caine’s The Morganville Vampires series and she shows no signs of stopping. Which is a good thing, because I’m still thoroughly enjoying the books!

Just when you think things are starting to settle down for Claire Danvers and her friends, think again. **spoiler alert** Now that Bishop has been run out of town and Amelie is more or less in charge again, things are getting back to normal. Sort of. Amelie has agreed to do things differently this time around, which includes giving the humans their freedom – so they’re equal to vampires. The scheme is very much in its infancy, but Claire and her friends are happy and getting on with life.

Claire is back to studying with her crazy vampire boss, Myrnin, and Eve has a new love. She hasn’t dumped Michael, of course, they’re just as loved up as always. But Eve appears to have rediscovered acting, and in the process has found herself a new best friend, Kim. Claire is not impressed. Not only does she take an instant dislike to Kim, she feels as though Kim is stealing her best friend and making eyes at her boyfriend Shane. Just to make things worse, it appears Kim and Shane have a past. Great.

But then Kim disappears and the residents of the Glass House discover that Kim has betrayed them all in the worst way. Not only has she been waving cameras in their faces to make her precious documentary, she’s also planted secret cameras all over town. Including several in the Glass House, with two in Michael and Shane’s rooms. Despite their anger, Claire and her buddies have to find Kim, before the vampires find out she’s also planted cameras in their part of town…

Overall, I thought this was a great book. It took the storyline in a whole new direction. Although the main characters are still there, with some taking a back seat Fade Out did a great job of introducing some new characters with new dilemmas, meaning everything wasn’t constantly focused on the same people (or vampires). Recommended.

17th August 2010 – This week’s Totty Tuesday is McFly’s Harry Judd. Despite fancying the pants of off him since McFly began (hey, they’re the same age as me, so even seven years ago it wasn’t wrong!), I couldn’t find a hugely sexy photo to post, because they’re all ones of him looking awfully young, which makes me feel awfully old, and look more than a little perverted.

Sooo… I decided to post a video instead. It’s the trailer to a short film being released by the boys next month, and it contains many of my favourite things: Harry (of course), vampires and sex. Harry also appears to be a vamp in the video, and he’s topless quite a lot, with nice rippling muscles and the like. This has inspired lots more Harry-induced lustiness in myself, so I thought I would share it with you all. And before you say “ooh, they’re very young” – they’re the same age as me, so I’m allowed, OK?

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to watch the trailer again. Mmm…

Book six and the storyline is still going strong. **spoiler alert** – Claire and her friends are still pretty much in one piece, even after everything that has happened to them. Claire is still being forced to work for evil vampire Bishop, although she’s still loyal to Amelie.

Bishop is still revelling in his victory, ordering people around left, right and centre. And although most people are just going along with it for a quiet life – and to stay alive – there are some who are  seriously unhappy. There’s an underground resistance which is rapidly making its way to the surface, and Bishop must find a way to contain it before it’s too late. His plan is as brutal as all the rest – obliterate everybody that stands in his way, human or vampire, and raise the town of Morganville to the ground.

Naturally, Claire and her buddies are unwilling to stand by and let this happen, and they gather as many allies as they can to battle Bishop – whilst all the time making him believe they’re still on his side.

Meanwhile, Claire is learning more and more about the workings of Morganville and how to manipulate them. The trouble is the more she knows, the more valuable she becomes. Before she knows it, Claire is a pawn in a very important game of chess. But what happens next? Only time will tell…

Another powerful book in the series, this one is totally action packed and easier to follow than the last one. I really enjoy the way that more and more information unravels about each character as time goes on. Just as you think you know somebody, you find out something else. It really keeps your interest in the story as a whole as you’re digesting one small part of it. An excellent read.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from Scandalous Innocent. As a Mills and Boon book I knew it was going to be romantic, but it had also been touted as a bit saucy too – surprising as it’s in support of The National Trust. The book has The National Trust’s property, Ham House, as one of its settings and is selling it in many of its outlets, as well as more traditional book retailers.

When I started reading, I was impressed right away. Although the first part of the book is set in 1676 and the dialogue felt authentic, it was still easy to read and follow. The narrative also followed a pretty smart pace and made you want to continue reading. The first part of the novel tells the tale of a young woman with no family. Due to the deaths of her family, she’s been left with a great deal of money and has fun spending it. She’s beautiful and independent, and yet has no husband. The one man she ever cared for publicly snubbed her, and she’s never forgiven him.

The second part of the novel deals with Phoebe, a woman also emotionally damaged by a man. She’s a direct descendent of the first lady in the novel. She, her daughter and her household staff live in a property gifted to her by her brother. Phoebe is happy and content in her house, but soon her comfort is spectacularly ruined. Her brother, a drunk, obsessive gambler has frittered away his property, leaving her homeless. The first she hears of it is when the new owner turns up to tell her. It doesn’t help, of course, that she deeply despises the man and has done for some time. Viscount Ransome, however, has different ideas. He would like to make Phoebe his wife, despite all her protestations. It seems Phoebe’s life is about to get very uncomfortable…

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I was surprised that Ham House didn’t feature in the book more, but really both tales were character led as opposed to location led, so the house itself didn’t play a huge part. The narrative flowed really well, was easy to read and certainly didn’t live up to the stuffy reputation that The National Trust is still trying to shake off. It was beautiful, romantic and quite naughty in places! I definitely wouldn’t call it erotica, but it’s a more risque kind of romance.
