Your Best is Not Enough

There is a huge difference between doing your best and doing whatever it takes. It's the same thing with your attitude in achieving your dreams. Either you do your best to achieve them or do whatever it takes. If you apply both, much better. If there's one important trait that I would pass on to someone who really want to succeed in life that I got from my Personal Business Coach (Coach Raph), it would be the attitude of doing whatever it takes.

A year ago, my business results were OK. Business doing OK means a little above break-even. That means your business sucks. One time, Coach Raph uttered something about something that impresses me. "Ludwig, you are too busy being impressed," he said. I didn't get it. "If you focus on what's important, you will have better results." It confused me more. Yes, sometimes I don't get things right away. "Tell me, what impresses you?" he asked. "Php 800,000 sales in my business," I replied quickly without thinking. "And what is important to you?"another mind boggling question came. "Clients!" I replied with hesitancy but trying to show all the confidence I got left. "See,"he continued. Then he mimicked my ever usual reply whenever we have these kinds of out-of-this-world conversations, "Oo nga no.." At first, I wasn't really sure what I was supposed to see - or understand what he's trying to point out.

I was doing massive action in my business - or so I thought I was. I was doing business almost 8 hours a day. Whenever doing marketing, I didn't stop until I finish the 8 hour schedule. It was really painful. When I'm done, I felt so productive - or so I thought, again.

Reflecting as to what Coach Raph was saying, I later realized what he wants me to see. If I want my business to zoom up, I just have to change my answers in the questions what impresses me and what's important to me - or interchange it.

Activity is never productivity. 8 hour action doesn't mean Php 800,000 results. If I want that kind of result, there has to be a step closer result EVERYDAY. Again, RESULT - not 8 hours.

Now what does PRODUCTIVITY have to do with YOUR DREAMS? It's EVERYTHING. It's the same with achieving your personal dreams and goals. What IMPRESSES you? Is it the places you can travel? The big bucks you can make in your career? The time you can have for your family when you retire? The things you can do for your country and your countrymen? Then what is IMPORTANT to you? Is it your work? Getting up early so you don't be late and not get fired? Or is it the other way around?

It's the same with what I've read from Francis Kong in one of his articles. He stressed out the fulfillment you can get in personal growth and never take it for granted. If you see a person with huge personal growth, it IMPRESSES you. Now what if you make it something IMPORTANT to you? The time you will say that personal growth is important to you, you will begin to commit. Just wanting personal growth is not the same when you commit to have it. So what is important to you?

One of the Historical Heroes I admire is Hideyoshi (The Swordless Samurai by Kitami Misao). He lived when Japan was in deep turmoil in the Age of Wars. He was the one who succeeded Oda, his mentor who wanted to unite the entire Japan. Oda died so Hideyoshi continued the endeavor and created Shogun. Hideyoshi started as a peasant and became the most powerful leader of Japan. He started with serving as a servant to his lord and mentor.

When Oda noticed Hideyoshi's devotion and really giving full effort in every little task he gives, he considered Hideyoshi as a very valuable asset. He called Hideyoshi as "someone who makes things done." Hideyoshi rose and became a general. Even in war, he displayed excellent achievements. In war, YOUR BEST IS NOT ENOUGH. Lives are at stake. YOU DO WHATEVER IT TAKES. YOU MAKE THINGS DONE. YOU MAKE THINGS HAPPEN.

In my entire lifetime, I never heard the line "make things happen." I didn't hear it in school, in work, in my parents. I first heard it in my mentors. And I am most grateful for hearing such words. My mentors are great blessings to me. I have dreams. You have dreams. We all have dreams. If you adapt the do whatever it takes attitude, there's no way you will not get your dreams. If you don't get your dream, I assure great fulfillment in applying your whole heart and self to your endeavor.

What impresses you? What is important to you? There is no right or wrong answers. At the end of the day, either you get the things that are really important to you or not and if you did whatever it takes and find fulfillment in your endeavor.

Be Aware & Value Your Time

Just read Francis Kong’s article in Star’s December 26, 2010 issue. I’ve been longing to meet this person especially when I have been reading John Maxwell’s books. I want to meet an apprentice of his.

Francis talked about how time flies so fast. He concluded the article with an advice of seeking personal growth for a lifetime. I couldn’t agree more.

It’s true that the uncertainties would be very challenging. And the only thing you could rely on is your wisdom. With me, being exposed in business and the reality of sharpening leadership skills, uncertainties happen almost every day. It’s hard but I’m forever thankful.

As a young boy I envy friends who have all the things they want in life. I envy when they party, when they travel, when they have new gadgets and when they are super drank. Now I pity them. I realized missing out your youth in HS is a myth. At least in my case it’s a myth.

I’m 29 and I’m earning double in my business versus my paycheck in employment 2 years ago. My friends are all comfortable having the time of their life. They go out of town, they party and they go shopping spree. One of them already got married. After a year I know I will increase my income more than 5 folds my paycheck. That means I can go to Kyoto, Japan – one of the most expensive places in the world – every month for 5 days.

I’m doing well in business because of my commitment to personal growth. It’s not about business. It’s about growth. At age 65 I will have already fulfilled almost everything I want to do today. I don’t know with my friends. They have their time today. What would they have when they age?

But what’s more important than having your youthful activities when you are financially free up to forever is the experience and realization of your full potential. Do you firmly believe your environment today fosters personal growth? If it does, take yourself to the extreme. If not, find one.

Are you growing overtime? Or are you being stagnant? As they song “Next in Line” goes “What has life to offer me when I grow old?”

How would you know you can grow in an environment? It’s when you know you can grasp and realize the achievements of your idols or heroes. For me, I know I can attain the level of Bill Gates, to be the richest man in the world. That’s because I’m in business. If your hero is an actor, how can you attain his level?

The first step to really attain virtually anything and more importantly to keep it is to be financially free. I met a retiree doing what she loved then became broke. She really loves what she does which are acting and theatre arts but the financial challenges stop her from pursuing growth in acting.

I firmly believe in growing oneself in financial education since everything is really affected by money. In my experience, first gain financial growth and leadership growth and then anything that you really want to attain in life. You don’t have to follow this formula. You can create your own. My general advice would be make growth a priority. I promise you that you would wish you have started to personally grow years ago. But don’t feel bad. Just start today and continue to grow daily.

What an Out-of-School Kid Taught Me

Experience is the best teacher as they would say. Sometimes unexpected encounters will show you a path you never thought you would take. I never imagined I would find the meaning of my life in an event that I first thought was meaningless.

When I was a freshman in Ateneo de Davao University, I felt the rush of vigor and competition. I will be the best Electronics and Communication Engineering Student in my class. I had classmates that came from Ateneo High School. Some people look up to them like how people look up to UP Students. "I will show you what is the real meaning of excellence,"I would silently say to myself whenever I see them. Individual competition can really be felt and very evident. "What's your score on our quiz?,"some classmates would ask.

My impression when I first saw my college bestfriend was the guy didn't have guts and he may not be that witty. Maybe he could use some of my help. He was wearing a faded shirt and denims. His shoes was a bit tored down chuck taylor. He seats at the corner with his high-school friend and very silent. I was beside a girl and we were a company-not a couple. She's my elementary, high-school and yes, became one of my college classmates. I remember she's my crush when I was in Grade 1 and she kissed me when we were 4th year high school in our Christmas party when she gave her gift to me. It sometimes dawned to both of us if we were meant to be. But we also thought that we see each other too much already so we have to look for other buddies. She found two girlfriends to be with at lunch, and me with my soon-to-be bestriend and his buddy.

"Who do you think is the most intelligent in our class?"I asked my bestfriend. I thought it would be best to be friends with intelligent people. He pointed to an Ateneo high-school graduate. It turned out the guy he was referring was our neighbor back when I was just a little kid. They moved to another place so I never saw the guy when I was a kid and I just knew that we were ex-neighbors when my mom told me. I'm not comfortable approaching him. I'm stuck with the not so witty guys.

To my suprise, my bestfriend who is one of the not so witty guys became the top of our class. We became a great team. He influenced me to be the best. "You don't know that?"he asks me that question a million times. He asks that question when I ask him something I don't know and if I get a wrong answer in a problem. His high expectations sometimes offends me. We were also exclusive cheatmates - we only share answers with each other. We don't give answers to parasites. We trust each others' opinion and analysis only. We know that both of us can only get the right answers in a very difficult exam our best professors can create.

My future career was important to me. And I can see a bright future ahead of me back then. This was the meaning of my life. A life of being a successful engineer. But things changed when we have to go to a community of fisherfolks. Something started to creep into me when we did that when I was a freshman.

I don't remember how they define that minor subject. It was something like First Year Values Education. It's similar to Good Moral and Right Conduct something or Homeroom. And don't complain if I won't research for it since I know that the readers of this article are smart enough to understand. So let's just call it FYVE(First Year Values Education).

We were required to get a community profile of fisherfolks in the locality. I arrived at school early in the morning and I was really sleepy. It was 7:30 am. It was on a weekday. This minor assignment really got in my nerves. How would this help me in my career? I would prefer to be at home preparing for major subject quizes and requirements. Maybe this school just love to put a lot of minor subjects we don't need to increase our tuition. Thinking that we have to be there and live with the folks for a day from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm was excruciating. I was already thinking of the hassles at lunch.

Black sand and you can see the sea from the horizon behind the little houses of the community. Their little boats can also be seen banked from afar before the seashore. Three students will be assigned in each house to immerse with the community for 7 long hours. Their houses are made of plywood, bamboos and rusty iron ceilings. Me and two classmates were assigned to a family composed of a 40 something fat mother, 10 year old gay and two below the age of 7 children. We were introduced, got the community profile and 20 minutes later the mother left for work. So we became baby-sitters.

"7 hours is not that long. I will survive this day," I said to myself. Then I noticed one of my classmates started to talk with the children. Great! He can baby sit them and I don't have to do anything. I remember we also have to interview the children of their background. So I decided to ask some questions to the eldest which happens to be gay. "You're supposed to be in school. You're in the 4th grade, right?" He replied,"No, I'm still in grade 1. I have to take care of my siblings so I have to stop. When they start school, I will be studying again." "Where's your father?" I asked. "He left us." He continued,"That's why I want to go back to school so I can help my mom."

A typical conversation and a lot of similar sad stories but it started to get into me. Seeing them having fun playing despite their situation was like watching a tv soap. Why am I here? Would I trade this experience and do the assignments of my major subjects instead? No. I can do something for this children. Lunch finally came.

"Do you have a can-openner?"I asked the eldest gay. "We have a knife over there." I have to admit. I'm not good at openning cans using a knife. I tried but it was really embarrasing I can't even drive a whole. My classmate who first mingled with the children tried. He openned the can 3 inches. The 10 year old gay laughed a bit and offered to continue to open the can. He's the best in can-openning! We had a great lunch and conversations and around 3:00 pm we have to go. I thought we still have an hour.

"I want to go back here. I want to visit them again sometime soon," I told my FYVE instructor. "There will be more outreach programs before you graduate and in your Theology subjects," she replied. That was the first and the last that I saw the fishfolk family again.

I realized there is more to life than major subjects and assignments. I'm thankful my Alma Mater gave us a lot of minor subjects. I would say I got their message that we become man for others. Aside from learning how to open a can with a knife, to which I'm still not an expert, the meaning of my life began to show. I will become a great example of success and provide education to out-of-school children. I will also raise my children become great leaders of our country.

I'm glad I'm now a businessman. I can do more being an entrepreneur than just being an employee. My education made me a professional. The experiences that showed me the meaning of my life and created a passionate heart inside made me commit to be more and give more. It showed me to become a big businessman who can contribute more than just an employee who can barely provide for himself.

They say life is empty. It's up to you how you create something out of it. Listen to your heart and let it show you the meaning of you life. What does it tell you?

Tingnan Natin Sino Yayaman Sa'tin

Being at the top of the class does not guarantee life success. Having good grades will not mean it will give you wealth. It may give you a better chance though. But most of the time, it would depend on how determined are you to get that fulfillment.

One morning, when we were about to start our review class for the board exams, I remember my friend told one of our classmates that it would be hard for her to succeed in the boards since she's not that serious in her studies. "A ganun, oo mga cum laude kayo. Pero yayaman ka ba talaga diyan? Tingnan natin sino yayaman sa'tin!" She blurted out. My friend is a really naughty guy but he's one of the class achievers. The girl has Japanese blood. They have businesses. I was also one of the average achievers. What she said a long time ago somehow struck me. Would I really get rich?

After the boards, we passed and the girl was one of those who failed. What awaits us after school? The girl went to Japan. We were looking for a job.

A few years passed and I get to connect with them. The girl is working in an electronic company. The guy, I'm sure he has a job. Now, I'm in business. Are we all going to get rich? Who among us will be? Who will find fulfillment?

Learning more about money and business and gaining more experience and track record, there's one thing I'm sure, you don't have to have good grades or be very intellectual but you do have to be smart. What is being smart? It's what we call having common sense.

Making your life simple and thinking about it in simplicity is common sense. How are you going to use your common sense in getting rich or being fulfilled? How are you going to get it in the most simple ways?

Getting rich is simple but never easy. It's so simple it's so boring. You would wish you would do complicated science or calculus instead. But do you prefer to be bored and be rich? I do. Since I know I will be fulfilled if I get really, really, really rich! Or are you fulfilled right now?

I always get the lines like,"I don't aspire to be rich since I'm already contented having a simple life. And I don't want to aspire more since it would make me greedy." Great for them that they are already fulfilled with their life. How I wish a lot of people are fulfilled that way. But behind those words is dishonesty. At the back of their minds they complain for having just a mediocre life. If you are really contented, you won't hear any complaining and blaming inside your head.

If you want to be successful or fulfilled, start with being honest. Honest not only to the people around you but also to yourself. Are you really fulfilled? Or would you prefer to do more and give more?

I didn't settle for only having a secure job and live this life being secure all my life. I preferred to do more and give more to a lot of people. One of my business mentors said that when he became successful, he felt nothing. But when he saw one of his apprentices became successful, it got him into tears. How would you feel if you guided someone and that someone became a huge success?

Sino ang Yayaman sa Amin? It doesn't matter. What I wish is they are all fulfilled. For me, I will only be fully fulfilled when I have really given a lot of blessings to a lot of people. And one way to do that is to be really, really, really rich.

Entitlement Mentality and The Rich Mindset

I used to think I'm entitled to a lot of things-retirement, pension, love, attention, success, wealth, etc. I never thought that attitude will make me broke. Good thing I discovered how to have a rich mindset.

I was just reading my very 1st blog when I decided to create an account in my journey to the vast business world(http://ludwigrich.blogspot.com/2008/05/some-of-things-i-learned-in-my-first.html). I remember I was so inspired with my very 1st business book WHY WE WANT YOU TO BE RICH. I was so moved to take action by purpose - and by fear.

Today, I consider myself to be entitled to have huge wealth since I took action and I'm committed to create it. But I will always respect the rules in wealth like the 90-10 rule. I am not entitled to have my desired results if I didn't do whatever it takes to create them.

That's the difference between the poor mindset and the rich mindset in entitlement. Most poor people blame, justify and complain for they think they are entitled to be taken cared of by the government and the companies they work on. I do not blame them especially that they are not informed like what I read in business and in my experience. But to those of you have the capability, my advise is that take responsibility and learn more to be financially independent. This way, you can teach it to others how you did it. As you teach more people, you bless more people. That's a simple rich mindset advise for you.

Some people say they are busy. When would that end? After 20 or 40 years? Then they look at their life only working for money. Do they find fulfillment, happiness or peace? Of course they do. They felt very productive all those years. What does it mean to be productive?

We have two assets: money and time. That's one of the things I learned in my first business book WHY WE WANT YOU TO BE RICH. I wish I have read it before I was twenty but at least I was informed before I'm 30. The authors said most people work to have more money and rich business people work to have more time. But, aren't we taught to work because we need money?

When I was younger and watched the television, I see rich people having no time for their children. They were so busy that their children were neglected and turned into drug addicts. I told myself, I will never be a businessman so I can have more time for my children and I don't want to be rich. Just to find out it wasn't always the case. I learned to never believe in movies.

People who have no time are busy people. They are not businessmen. They just couldn't stop their busy-ness. People who have drug addict children in the movies were either a highly-paid EMPLOYEE, who have a lot of responsibilities in the office, and SELF-EMPLOYED or the so-called FREELANCERS, who think they are businessmen because they don't have bosses. These people value MONEY more than TIME. Then some people think they value TIME and think that striving to earn more money is valuing MONEY. They never bothered to ask, how do rich people earn money but still have time?

The people who think they value TIME and are not rich are the people that fascinates me the most. A lot of my office mates told me that they do not want to be rich because they might become greedy. They told me that it depends on the person's contentment. Well it's true. I want to be rich because I'm not contented with the TIME I'm giving to my FAMILY, FRIENDS, DREAMS & ENDEAVORS. They thought I value MONEY. They never knew I value TIME. These friends go out all the time. They play paintball, go out-of-town, play basketball & many more. They think they have TIME. They have time to celebrate with their family and friends during birthdays and occasions. They were BLINDED that they have TIME. They never saw how much TIME THEY WORK FOR MONEY versus HAPPY TIMES.

I hated every time going out-of-town or playing with friends on a day-off then those days end and thinking again of work tomorrow. In a week, the ratio of happy time and work time is 2:7. Then some people say that's why you have to find a work that you think you are happy and make happy time 7:7. But actually, deep inside them, just fool yourself you are happy with work time. Is there a work that makes you happy? Yes, of course. Do they pay you with what you need? It's too rare.

Just imagine if you can have happy time 7:7. And that happy time is a REALLY happy time for you! What are you doing in your happy time? For me, it's to be with my family, friends, loved-ones, playing games and many more. And now that I can really see myself having more time, I would want to have more TIME to teach people also have their OWN TIME. And you can only have more time if you are RICH WITH PASSIVE INCOME. That is if you are aware that you can really create passive income.

What is it that you value the most? Is it working for 20 or 40 years? Or is it your time for your family? Or is it doing more good to others and not just working for your boss? What are your REAL DREAMS? Do you value your time for them? Do you take ACTION to BRIDGE to those DREAMS? What are those ACTIONS?

Some people go into business and they prefer to sell or service at a lower price. Sometimes it makes them lose or break-even for a year- if they are lucky -or more. And they wonder why they lose. They think this way because they want to market in the "PHILIPPINE SETTING." Because they think that the "PHILIPPINE MARKET" wants cheap products.

PSP, Sony Vaio, Acer, Louie Vitton, Armani-what else are expensive? Or you think are expensive? Flat Screens and New Cars? What else? Why are they staying for the last many years? 3D movies anyone? Why do the businessmen who sell these products sell here in the Philippines? Why do they stay? What are they seeing in the "PHILIPPINE MARKET?"

When I was in College, the first time I saw my Public Speaking professor, I was so amazed and astonished at his personality and the way he introduced the course. A lot of us were inspired and motivated to learn more. My passion for public speaking grew more. It's even surprising how I got interested in the subject.

Back in Elementary, it's fine with me to fail my grades as long as I don't speak or sing or present anything in public. I remember I sang "Heaven knows" in our Audio-Visual Room and it stinks! I hate myself! But all of these presenting and singing changed when I entered high-school.

My Favorite English Teacher was also not good in singing. But she shared to us one story that she sang her heart out and many people applaud. How did that happen? It was all about breathing. It got me curious. Can I learn how to sing? My curiosity boost me in being more attentive in her subjects and guess what, I perfected the pronunciation recitation!

When I was in 3rd year, another English Teacher astonished me. Not only was she good looking like my 1st year English teacher but I remember she was so amazed as how I presented our group report. She said,"Ludwig was so professional." Thanks to my father he helped me construct our report and I really practiced and practiced to present it.

What does my presenting and reporting and singing got to do with the "PHILIPPINE MARKET?" I say it's EVERYTHING! It's all about CONFIDENCE! What do you think made me EXCEL? What got my INTEREST? Still don't have an idea how to CONNECT these things?

Selling Cheap IS Looking Down at Your Brethren. Every time you say THAT IS TOO EXPENSIVE FOR FILIPINOS, you are looking down at our countrymen. How dare you to look down at your once proud race. Again, what do you think made me interested in public speaking which was MY GREATEST FEAR that I could give up my Grades and My Future when I was still Young?

I was perfect in pronunciation- I get appreciation. "Ludwig was so professional"- I was APPRECIATED. My public speaker professor INVITED ME TO JOIN THE DEBATE TEAM-I WAS SEEN I HAVE POTENTIAL! It gave me CONFIDENCE!

What if I were the "PHILIPPINE MARKET?"

"That won't sell in the 'PHILIPPINE MARKET' because that's too expensive and they only want necessity" is the same as saying to me that:

1. I am not capable of earning more.
2. I can only earn at minimum wage or less.

"Food is the most lucrative opportunity in the 'PHILIPPINE MARKET' is the same as saying to me that:

1. My top priority is eating and that is the only thing I can afford.
2. I don't have to think about pampering myself because I don't deserve that kind of life.

What else are you saying about the capabilities of the "PHILIPPINE MARKET?" What else are you trying to say to me? How do you see your countrymen? What are their capabilities? Are you confident at your brothers and sisters? Do you give them confidence?

Believing in people starts in believing with yourself. You are part of the "PHILIPPINE MARKET."(If you are not a Filipino, you are invited to feel like one). Do you believe you can do great things? Do you believe you are an achiever? Do you give yourself CONFIDENCE? When you start having more of that, please do share that CONFIDENCE. Do you think you deserve to have more of it? Do you think people deserve it? Do you think our countrymen deserves CONFIDENCE?

We had a great Cashflow and Millionaire Mind Gathering Yesterday. All the participants had a great time and a lot of people realized more about money and their dreams. Majority of them was so happy that they could talk about aspirations and big dreams while in the event because these subjects are never mentioned or talked about in their homes. But what I love the most is what one of the speakers in the event said. She's a doctor and a member of our business community.

"I don't like getting people out of Death. I like getting people into life,"Doc Yoyi said. She has been doing surgery for many years. Saved some people. Saved some for a few days. Saved some for a few hours. She doesn't want to just save people for a few days or hours from their deaths anymore. She joined the community to bring LIFE to people instead.

Many of us longs to be a contribution. Some do it through employment. Some do it through volunteering. Some sacrifice the mockery, the constant discouragement of loved ones and neighbors and rejections while striving to be a huge success in business. They do business to create jobs, add value and give life to more people. They teach business and how to manage money as part of charity. They survive the constant negative batterings of others and failures by being with a team who will support them all the way to their success. This is one of the things I love the most in our business community. We want to give more life and light to people and support each other for success.

Would I Ever Be A Contribution?

When I saw little children not going to school because of lack of finances, I began to ask myself, "What can I do for them?" At first I thought of raising my children to be great leaders for our country. I knew it would take a lifetime to achieve it - or maybe even more. I wanted a president from my descendants who will lead our country. Would it ever happen? If not, would I ever be a contribution?

"To share often and much...to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

At least one has breathed easier because you have lived. I heard that from my favorite philo teacher. I made a commitment that day that I would do everything that I can be a contribution to at least one in need in my entire lifetime.

"Money or Values?"

"I've already decided that money would be more important than values. I study to earn money when I graduate." That's what my colleague said when that same philo teacher asked us what is more important to us. I silently told myself, values is more important to me.

"I commit to be Rich to be part of the Solution."

Everything changed when I read Why We Want You to be Rich. Both Money and Values became important to me. I can be a great contribution when I have more money. Money will just enhance who you are.

Do I still want to have descendants who will be great leaders? Yes. But I can do more if I lead leaders. I can give more if I have more. And it would save more time. I choose to save time to shorten the pain of our countrymen suffering from poverty. This is my path to be a great contribution.

Why do you think we Filipinos are smart?

A lot of people think that we Filipinos have a lot of negative traits and that it seems so hard for us to prosper. But that is about to be changed!

One day I created a forum "Yayaman ka pa din ba kahit sino ang presidente?" And I was so happy with the replies! A lot of our countrymen replied that we can really be successful whoever will win!

It's really great to know that a lot of us are starting to think independently from the government especially small and big businessmen and aspiring entrepreneurs. I'm so happy that we can really create a huge difference for our country by striving to be successful and provide more opportunities and I believe this one of the many evidences that we Filipinos are smart people and that we can become world-class people.

It' fine with me whoever the president will be. But I actually prefer government officials that supports the business sector since businesses provides opportunities and jobs. As long as the president doesn't get in the way to our progress, everything will be fine. How do you move on as to whoever the president will be?

IF YOU ARE A POOR PERSON.

If you are a poor, you can continue to create money through recycling garbage. You can also ask to rich people for money. Just continue to beg and you'll be fine. If you can find a sponsor who will give you scholarship, that would be great! You may have the chance to be a MIDDLE CLASS. So grab the opportunity whenever the president will give you one. If you are one of those unlucky people, then just wait for the rich people to notice you and hope that they would pity you.

IF YOU ARE WELL-OFF OR MIDDLE CLASS.

How do you define a middle-class nowadays? As long as he is employed and can buy new cellphone, have time to watch movies, etc. can we consider it as middle class? Let's stick to this context as the minimum. If you are in this category you can still move on by strengthening your investments and you may also start a business. How would the president help you with that? How would he be a hindrance to you? Can't find answers? That's the point! It doesn't matter who the president will be. You still move on with your life.

What if you are a lazy middle-class then you retire at the age of 60 and you have the highest medical expense ever? How would you support yourself? Would you be downgraded as POOR? You can think that way or you can regret why you are such a lazy person and you really are going to be downgraded. What will happen to your children? Would they be like the poor people who would wait for scholarship and food from rich people?

What if we were lucky and the president will teach you financial literacy? Then you become good in investments and do good in business. Now you became a business tycoon and you can actually provide jobs for other middle-class. You have upgraded into a RICH person! Isn't that great?

Actually, you can start to learn financial literacy by buying books at bookstores or hardware if you're lucky to find a good one there. You can then find a mentor to guide you through business and become a business tycoon like him. You think it's a hassle? Well you can pray that you will be healthy all your life until 60 and hope you would not have the destiny like the lazy middle class as described above. Then you bite into it! Then you become a business tycoon like the industrious middle class above! Now you can also provide opportunities! No more OFWs since you can provide quality jobs for them.

What if you are a rich businessman? Well you can teach ordinary people become like you and hand-in-hand you can provide more jobs and opportunities.

How would the president affect you? More Tax breaks or less would be the deciding factor. If less,you can always invests in other countries to save more taxes. Well, rich people are too smart and the government would be too stupid if they would lessen the tax advantages for businesses and kill the source of opportunities and chances for providing more charities and foundations.

NOW WHAT?

Whoever the president will be or the government will be, you can still become rich and not downgrade up to a poor person. Take responsibility and do not become like the lazy middle-class or rich person then downgrade yourself. If I Give You 1 Million

How would a person with a rich mindset use money given to him for free or inheritance to make him richer? Do you know people who inherited millions then lose all the money in less than a year? I'm sure you've heard lottery winners and government beneficiaries who also lost money and they're lucky if it spanned for a few years. The longest I heard was 2 years. Would it be great to have a record in the Guiness with the longest to lose lottery or free money? Or how about the shortest? What would you be interested to learn, to lose the money shortest, longest, or create more wealth from it?

I was seating at the backseat of an old Mercedes Benz. The driver-and also the car owner-was a businessman and a residential client of my cousin. My cousin, a property consultant, was on the front seat. We were on our way to Shakey's Tomas Morato. It was around 8:00 pm when we were on the road going to Quezon Avenue from the residential condo site area in Pasig. My cousin just told the client that we want to learn and do business. "If I will give you 1 million, what would you do?" The client asked me. "I would buy a condo or apartment or anything as rental property." I replied trying to sound as credible as I can to cover any hint of hesitation. "Do you know how much real estate cost today? 1 million is not enough to get you started in real estate business."

I did have an idea how much real estate cost at that moment. And he was right that 1 million would not be enough. When I was studying real estate back then, yes, 1 million is not enough. But if he asked me that same question today, I would reply differently and I would show him that it was more than enough.

Before being really committed in doing business, I just thought of doing buy and sell and other small business stuff. But when I started to read business books, I realized I can really do big business. I tried to apply what I learned from books so I can gain experience and finally be in big business. It was hard to get into big business on my own to the point I'm willing to do anything just to learn.

I started with reading WHY WE WANT YOU TO BE RICH last January 31,2008. I remember I really want to be part of the solution and not part of the problem. Then I committed to really be in business.

I shared to my family the books that I read. We started businesses and learned together. The experience was not enough to take me off to big business.

I'm willing to do anything just to learn. Find a mentor, buy a food franchise or enter network marketing. I would do anything just to learn the basics of big business. I knew I needed to learn PEOPLE SKILLS and TECHNICAL SKILLS. People skills was the hardest to learn and the most important. I'm ready to anything just to increase my people skills which include leadership, communication, sales, negotiations, etc.

Our Dream That Almost Got Us Separated

My father told me,"Mark, we shouldn't be silent about this. We should talk about it." I was lying in my room. The door was open. The only light that was turned on was at the living room. It was night time at about 11:00 pm. I was looking at the ceiling and my father was sitting on a stool just outside the door. "There's no sense not talking about it. We should get it done. We're just half-way through."

My mother is workaholic. She likes to do everything hands-on. Yes, a typical self-employed. "Ma, wash my clothes it's dirty and clean my room. It's been messy for days,"I would sometimes jokingly command her to make her realize what kind of a martyr she is. I remember she said she really love washing clothes. Sometimes I would think that is her passion. This reflected on business. She loves to take action right then and there. It's a great character for an entrepreneur. I mean the taking action part but not the hands-on.

Ever since we were kids, my mother holds the money. Both of my parents are high-school teachers. She is the only one who withdraws from both of their ATM's. I think my father do not even know how to use an ATM. "I let your mother take the money because I'm not good at handling it,"he would say. "That's why if I have to buy something for me, I'm just like you. It's like I have to ask for an allowance from her. Or I can run and referee as part-time and then I'll buy something for me with the extra money I earn." I envy him sometimes because he got a lot of basketball shoes. I only have one for the entire school year. "But it's really tiring to do sidelines, you know. Your mother should give me money for myself," he would complain.

"Your father has a lot of money,"my mother would say. "I gave him Php 100 to buy 2 kilos of rice and he didn't give me the change." At that time, 1 kilo of rice was Php 17-Php 23. I hear this all the time. "What he earns whenever he referees in basketball is for himself. He wouldn't give me a penny." Who is really selfish, my father or her?

It's funny sometimes I notice them they try to get me on their side. I'm always dominant in family matters and business decisions. I sometimes look at my deceased older brother as younger than me when he was still here. Our youngest sister have a mind of her own. She doesn't mind what's going on in the family. I have control to where I want the family would go. At least that was what I thought I was.

The year 2008 when I realized that I am bound to be a business tycoon. I was in Manila. I told my parents to retire early because we have to make time in learning business. We can live by reviving the farm. It can really support the whole family. I wouldn't say that we took the farm for granted but we didn't took notice of it too much. When I went home to Davao for vacation, I showed them that building businesses would provide us abundance and our generations to come. They retired and we thought of more businesses other than the farm. They started to read the business books that I read.

When I came back in Manila, my mother initiated to renovate our 2nd home into a rental property. When I took another vacation to Davao, it was 20% finished. It was as if my parents and me are business partners. The three of us would also check the farm. It was about 10% revived. My mother was also starting to spot for more properties to acquire as rental properties.

The travels, transactions and planning was really exhausting. The exhaustion got into us. "I'll go home early. I think you don't need me here anymore,"said my father. To which my mother replied,"What part did you take? I almost do everything here." My father blasted,"Let the crew do it!" Then I am the referee. This kind of picture happened even when we were young. Even when we haven't yet started any business. They grew distant as years go by. They used to go home together. It was world war when they are together as we grow older. And it came to a point when they go home on their own.

Every morning, whenever we hold meetings, there was always a heated conversation. My sister would lock herself in her room and turn her radio on. I heard from my mother that my sister cries every time she witnesses it. I don't mind. I want to get things done. I don't care if I would even shout to my father or my mother, or to anyone. I remember I even slammed the table at their faces because I was so disappointed with how they get off the topic.

One night on one of the heated conversations. Since it was really hard for my parents to work as a team, they decided to separate. My father will live at the 2nd house which is the rental property and my mother and my sis at the original house. The heat went on. My mother wants my father out. He would not have anything and let him live at the streets. My father agreed with pride. He is old and smart enough to make a living. It was the time when I could not control my mother. She became dominant. I think I got her war-freak attitude. When she really gets angry and her ears closed, it's as if she is in blood-lust. It was agreed that they would separate and the businesses will be stopped. Then there was silence.

I was in my dark room. "We started the plan. We can straight things out,"my father continued. "If we would separate, then what would happen?" He was right. "I know. I just let both of you be to make you realize what you just agreed on," I replied. Deep inside me I wanted to say,"Good thing you realize how both of you make stupid decisions." But I also realize how stupid I was.

It's really funny seeing old people realize with there immaturity. When everything cooled down my mother opened up that they really agreed she would manage the money and whatever my father can earn outside their regular paycheck is his. All along I was confused who was selfish. I just knew it when I am at my mid 20's. And every time my father want to go home early, she just couldn't say that she needs his support even just with his presence. Even if he does nothing. Then my father opened up that he also want to do his part. It's just that he is not given the chance since my mother love to do everything. The experience moved us to be honest. And it made me realize the importance of leadership.

Looking back, I'm glad I found Create Abundance 2020 Business Community. It has become a space for me to grow as a leader. As I teach my apprentices and business partners, I get better and better. The most challenging part is finding the strengths of people. I also learn many things from them. I get to know more about my strengths as well.

As we embark the journey to our dreams, here will be obstacles and conflicts. There can also be probability of getting separated. But these are only challenges and opportunities for us to grow into a better person.

Jose Rizal's Pen

Jose Rizal used his pen for the future of the Philippines. He wrote books and articles to free our country from oppression. If you were to write books and journals today, what would be your intention? Is it to become rich and be a best-selling author? Or do you carry the heart of our National Hero that thinks not what his country can do for him, but what he can do for his country?

My mother never liked Jose Rizal. Or maybe it's my misinterpretation that she likes Andres Bonifacio more. She told me that the latter should be the National Hero because the former was a coward. I have nothing against our Heroes whether they used swords or pens. What matters is we live a bit peaceful and independent lives today because of their huge efforts. We owe our present comfor to them.

The Philippines is still a third world country. Poverty is very evident. And a lot of people are separated from their families because they have to work abroad. If not abroad, they have to live their provinces to seek more opportunities in bigger cities. Today, our country can really use a great leader like Jose Rizal. If he were alive today, what would he do?

If you would think like our National Hero, there are a lot of things that we can do. If our heroes from the past aspired independence for us, what can we aspire for the next generation? It can be a clean and orderly environment like Makati - or cleaner and more orderly. It can be more jobs and abundance. Or, it can be 1st World Philippines. How would that look like?

And that is why I aspire to be a huge success. I aspired to be an entrepreneur and share my great successes. I am happy to have found my business mentors and a great business community. Through entrepreneurship and with a great team, our country can flourish and realize the dream of becoming a 1st World Country.

Entrepreneurship is like your pen. You can choose to write down a great future and a strong economy for our country.

The 65th Birthday Party

At the age of 65 I will have created a lot of contributions to many people. I have travelled the world and I have a huge empire. And at that time, I would have been financially free for 35 years since I plan to have huge passive income at the age of 30. I'm "something" years old now. I'll leave you guessing for a while.

It was friday night. I went to Regency at Salcedo. It was the 65th birthday of my tita. A lot of relatives and friends came. It was a nice party. The program started with a service before the main event - my favorite part -which is having a sumptuous dinner.

I realized and knew more about my tita at the party. She worked for 41 years in service to the government. To which her daughter gave a comment with awe that she may not have done what her mother accomplished. She said maybe only for 20 years. Same goes with the youngest son who strongly agreed. I'm not sure if what would the eldest son's response if he was at the party. He lives in Chicago.

I've been an employee for 5 years. I noticed I could not do what I really want if I stayed on that path. And I have no plans in going back in it ever again. I choose to be an entrepreneur. And if I have to react with my cousin's comment, even 20 years would be too long for me. I can feel the excruciating stress and struggle staying as an employee that long.

Another thing I learned about my tita is her utmost generosity. And I am one of those who benefit from it. I got my last job with her assistance to a prestigious company. And I did witness her kindness in so many ways. She was a mother to me when I was here in Manila. I'm actually from Davao and my family stays there. I'm grateful to feel as if I am one of her children. And I strongly believe she is blessed so much because of her trait.

Entrepreneurs solve other people's problems at a profit. Just like my tita, I want to be very generous. The difference is I commit to be one at a larger scale. And this is another reason why I choose to conquer the business world. I've always wanted to aleviate poverty of our country and provide education to street children. I used to think of raising my children to be great leaders for our country.

One of the things I learned being an entrepreneur is the meaning of affluence. It actually means "flow." The flow of money and blessings must be constant else it would clog. If you give more- like adding value to the live's of more people- you will have more. If you will hoard all the money in the world, you will find it as a very struggling endeavor and there will be no peace of mind.

The last thing that struck me on that event was when my tito-the husband of my tita- gave a sermon. He is a pastor. He told us the story how they met and knew each other. My tita is very sickly. She was studying in UP and because of her being sickly, she had to take some rest. She took a vacation in Davao. She met tito in a Christian Church. Tito is a methodist and tita is from UCCP. And I am Catholic by the way. Tito stressed the blessings despite failures or illness. If tita wasn't sickly, they might haven't met. And yes, there were some cheezy parts of the story like him telling her,"Did you miss me? Because I've been missing you."

In my business experience, I notice failures and breakdowns make you grow as a better person and a more skillful entrepreneur. It's part of the learning curve. And it's standing up every time you fall down that really counts. And like tita, being a very sickly person, never gave up and as if she was very healthy , she continues to be of service and giving more blessings to more people.

There's nothing wrong with being an employee for very long. But some people choose to take the path of entrepreneurship for they commit in having more time. Also, you can become a great blessing if you are one that has a great and noble purpose. And lastly, you will endure the pain and failures a long the way if that purpose is really important to you. Then you can say it was a great journey.
