Bumper cars!

2012-09-23T11:23:00.002-07:00

Where Do Old Bumper Cars Go? Remember old bumper cars? I received an email from a friend recently with these AWESOME pictures. Sadly there is no referal link as to who made them, I would love to know. I'd trade in my Renault Clio any day for one of these beauties!

If only I had the money I would love to buy one of these.

Trip to Mum's

2012-08-04T14:54:00.000-07:00

Got a lovely pic of the dog's on my way to mum's for the day to see the family.

Think they're excited?

Zelda

2012-07-13T18:00:00.000-07:00

It's Friday the 13th, unlucky for some. Not for this little darling. Today we rescued Zelda from the local pound. Not many dogs get rescued over here during the summer, but lots get abandoned. I know I can't help them all, but we had room for one more and she's settling in really well. She's a little beauty.

Tattoos 3 and 4 done by the wonderful Zoe at Deja Vu's Tattoos I think I have the bug now.

Project Delia

2012-06-10T15:29:00.000-07:00

One of my current projects is my surreal dresser. Over the course of a few months I collected several random parts including 2 pairs of mannequin legs and 2 bedside tables. All of which were found by the roadside.

I've always been a huge fan of Salvidor Dali and surrealist art. So I played around with the pieces to see what could be made of them.

My upcycled pool bag

2012-06-10T14:57:00.000-07:00

I have always been interested in green issues and over the past few years I have become an avid dumpster diver and try to the best of my ability to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill by finding new ways to use things. When my inflatable pool got punctured after just one summer it seemed a shame to throw it away. I had an old bag that was falling apart so I salvaged the zipper and strap and created a new bag from the parts. I lined it with my favourite shirt that ripped last weekend and I'm really happy with the result.

The original pool was 3m in diameter so I still have lots of plastic for future projects. I haven't been sewing for long, so I would like to improve the quality of my stitching, then maybe sell these as a side business.

My new workshop/office

2012-03-08T14:02:00.000-08:00

After living in the apartment for over 2 years we finally make some progress on the office. I've been wanting to build a workbench in there for ages but the cost of countertop was over my budget. Luckily we managed to find a bit that was the perfect size by the roadside.

My macho man :)

Banksy Tattoo

2011-11-27T15:07:00.000-08:00

Got a new tattoo today. My second, I'm sure there will be many more! I love the street artist Banksy. His work is so political and inspiring. He's my little reminder to myself to not get involved in the whole rat race and enjoy life, by my rules.

Band Tshirt for the Other Half

Harry proudly modelling his first tshirt he made in the office using my plotter.

Ajira Airways Tshirt

2011-06-13T15:15:00.000-07:00

A geeky tshirt I made today that I'm sure LOST fans would recognise. It's made with gold vinyl heat pressed onto the shirt.

Mannequin Lamp

2011-05-31T15:20:00.000-07:00

A mannequin I found at a car boot sale that needed some love.
He is now a lamp, with a dimmer bulb for a head. He's a work-in progress and I am contemplating giving him arms made from architect style lamps.
The colar is from a Dr Who Timelord costume I made for New Years Eve.

Reupholstered chair

2011-05-10T13:28:00.000-07:00

I've always loved big wing back chairs so when I found this little beauty by the roadside I had to snap it up. Luckily it was only down the road from my apartment, I had to cram it in the back of my little Renault Clio, most of it was hanging out the back.

It looked a bit beaten, it was raining when I grabbed it.

Stripping down the old fabric showed that the bones of the chair were in perfect condition. Even the foam was salvageable.

A few million staples removed and hands reduced to bloody stubs later and I have a blank canvas to work with.

Tried this fabric first. Loved how it looked but I didn't have enough...

New fabric, and finished! I LOVE it! One of these chairs in the shop would cost 200€+ and all I spent was 50€ on the fabric. I would have never found one this perfect in the shop.

It gets Victor's approval! He's found his new favourite seat.

LOST cosplay

2010-12-31T23:59:00.000-08:00

On new years eve in a little Spanish town callled Coín they hold a grand street party where the whole town turns out in fancy dress.

Being the big LOST geek that I am, this year I cosplayed as my favourite 'Other' Mikhail!

My first tattoo!

2007-05-05T15:11:00.000-07:00

My first tattoo. It's an ambigram of my name. One way round it reads "Luke", then upside down it reads "Morris". I designed it myself and my cousin Lucy tattooed it for me. The first of many!
