TV: Did you watch VH1's 'Single Ladies'? Everyone's buzzing about it

2011-05-31T16:31:00.001-04:00

(Luv the Buzz - Media) The new VH1 original series "Single Ladies" premiered starring LisaRaye and Stacy Dash, and although its not another reality show thank goodness. It's getting tons of BUZZ. It was the talk of Twitter over the holiday weekend when it aired and New York Times blogger had this review

Rather than soliciting your judgment of a money chaser, the show invites it for April (Charity Shea), a dimwitted white woman with no clear goals of any kind. April has a devoted black husband who offers to rent a villa for her in the Mediterranean when the inkling of a bad mood sets in. But April is also carrying on with the city's black mayor, a hound of a guy who seems to be getting busy with half the neighborhood of Buckhead. She has no explanation for her affair other than a vague sense of boredom, and her black friends resent the lack of racial solidarity the men in her life display by having fallen for her.

Out for dinner with a handsome black guy she meets online, Val is bidden to anger when she learns that he usually goes out only with white women, whose hair and manner he tends to find less objectionable. "Single Ladies" has issues with black men, who are depicted as way too self-regarding, and blond women, who are simply taking up too much space on the planet. Not altogether predictably, the show reserves a certain kindness for that forgotten minority: the boyish white man. Apparently "Single Ladies" has yet to see "The Hangover Part II."

Whatever the case may be VH1 may have a hit on its hands as so few original shows are on television featuring black actresses as lead characters. Let's give the show time and see if they can get the kins worked out.

(Luv the Buzz - Media) New Details are emerging on singer Sean Kingston's terrible jet ski accident over the holiday weekend in Miami. Here are all the details:

The heroic rescuers who came to Sean Kingston aid following his jet ski crash yesterday have described how they discovered the singer vomiting blood and almost drowning. Jonathan Rivera, who by chance was a member of the Coast Guard, and friend Jimmy Vega were in a boat approaching Palm Island Bridge in Miami where they witnessed the aftermath of the accident. They quickly jumped into the water where they found Kingston 'extremely dazed' and 'coughing up blood'.

His life jacket had come off in the smash and he was 'in danger of drowning,' according to his rescuers. The Hip-hop singer, who was initially described as in a critical condition, was today stabilised and moved to the intensive care unit at a hospital, a spokesman for the 21-year-old star confirmed.

A female passenger with Kingston was also injured and is receiving hospital treatment too. Rivera say he was called over the scene by another man and a woman on a jet ski, who were struggling to keep Kingston's head above water.
The Coast Guard worker helped by grabbing hold of Kingston, recalling how he was 'puking up blood' and convulsing, TMZ.com reported.

Vega told RadarOnline that Sean had a severe gash to the neck and was conscious, but didn't appear to be bleeding from the head. '[He was] extremely dazed and was in danger of drowning,' 34-year-old student Vega recalled. After around 15 minutes a police boat arrived and Kingston was taken to an ambulance where paramedics took over. READ MORE HERE

Mag Cover: Kim Kardashian reveals she is engaged to People Magazine!

2011-05-25T15:20:00.000-04:00

(Luv the Buzz - Media) Reality TV star Kim Kardashian revealed to People Magazine that she is indeed engagnged to NBA player Kris Humprhies. The proposal took place one week ago, on May 18, when the 26-year-old Humphries surprised his 30-year-old love in her Beverly Hills home. When she entered her bedroom, she saw Humphries already on bended knee with red rose petals forming what was by then a hopefully obvious question: "Will you marry me?"

"I didn't expect this at all," the bride-to-be told People. "I was in such shock. I never thought it would happen at home, and I never thought now."Another thing she couldn't have expected: the size of that rock. Humphries' question was eased along by the offering of a custom-designed 20.5-carat Lorrain Schwartz diamond engagement ring. Kim's family seemed to be surprised by the news just as we all were. They were tweeting congratulations to the new couple all morning. Guess we'll finally get that Kim Kardashian Wedding Special we've been waiting for.

WOW!: Osama's alleged mistress beefing with rapper Wale on Twitter

2011-05-24T16:54:00.001-04:00

(Luv the Buzz - Media) The alleged mistress of Osama Bin Laden Kola Boof is beefing with Wale here's the BUZZ!

We've caught quite a few episodes of Twitter gone wild, but nothing's beating this slice of crazy cake. A few weeks after Osama Bin Laden's alleged novel-writing mistress Kola Boof spilled secrets behind her affair with the most dangerous man on earth, she's found herself an American man to go after. And his name is Wale. Yesterday Kola randomly lashed out on Wale for not featuring enough midnight-toned video vixens in here eyes.

KOLA:

“There wasn’t a single Black woman in “Pretty Girls”…so what in the f— was he saying about African women?? His own race?” @WALE is a little Punk B—h Nigerian Skin Bleacher who wants to escape his own people & gets PAID 2 do s. I know enough about @WALE …and he’s a LOSER a– Motherf—er in my book. Don’t give a s–t who’s IN DENIAL. F–k WALE

If #WALE was my g–damn son I’d drown that Chimp-brained Nigerian N—erstock motherf—er. And feed his a– to the Red Ants. Loser mofo! And Black Women….keep making excuses & supporting these mofos…..that’s what IRKs me. Dumb a– Black Women. You would think Black Women would have 2 halves of a brain to tune out these mofos..but they the #1 supporters. This man HATES US…hates our whole f—ing existence & wants to escape blackness…and we making him rich!!??

“To me….a man like WALE….is no different than a f—ing Clansmen. He just gets away with his s–t bec. he’s dark black. But let WALE have to decide between saving YOU from drowning and a European. He’s a skin bleacher. Might as well be Jergen. NO DUMB A–….he doesn’t “REP” Nigeria. You’re just too stupid to see his messages. He promotes f—ing SKIN BLEACHING!

Why wouldn’t NIGERIAN children want to bleach their skin after watching a WALE video?? How could they not? Think about the IMAGES in Wale’s videos….and then look at why Nigerian kids, both male & female, want to skin bleach. HIS VIDEOS!! partly. Just remember….that KOLA will kick your f—ing a– @WALE ……you’re f—ing GUPPIE! OH PLEASE….people are acting like I can’t cuss someone out because I’m a Novelist?….I’m harder than ANY f—ing rapper. Oh please….I’m HARDER than any rapper…….you insecure little colortsruck roach invaders.”

WALE:

“Kola boof… I won’t beef with you as a rapper, but as a proud black man with intellect. We can show the world what ignorance looks like. Excuse me @KolaBoof.

According to this lunatic @kolaboof I promote “skin bleaching” and I hate black women. And @kolaboof thinks that because she contributed to writing a few books, that she can talk down to me. With all due respect ms @kolaboof I can sit up here and say you were porking terrorist…like a lot of your peers say. But I’d rather not, because I’m ignorant to @kolaboof whatever relationship you had with Ol’ Boy [Osama bin Laden]. ..and my ignorance to THAT particular subject will keep me quiet. W/ that said u should 2. @kolaboof your pretentious. Your a disgusting human being, an absolute disgrace to the very people you pretend to endorse.“

Props to Wale for not going deeper than he could have and props to Necole Bitchie for catching the story.

[Inside Info]: Will Jennifer Lopez come back to 'Idol'?

2011-05-24T16:02:00.001-04:00

Jennifer Lopez's days as one of the American Idol judges could be numbered. As the American Idol 2011 season comes to a close the question remains if JLO wants to commit to another season. Among the reasons for Jennifer Lopez to stay on as an AI judge are the salary -- she raked in a whopping $12 million to judge this season -- and the increased visibility she has gained from being part of the television series.

One source is quoted as saying the chance Jennifer will return for a second American Idol season is pretty good. "She knows what Idol has given her, but she also knows how to work it to her advantage," Earsucker reports. "She’s been around the block, so to speak before and knows how to negotiate. I’d estimate there’s a good 80-90 percent likelihood of her returning as judge next season."

News: Oprah's finale this week

2011-05-23T01:56:00.001-04:00

By Michael Howard
(Luv the Buzz - Media) Oprah's final three shows start airing today and with her exit she will leave a major void in the talk show world. Oprah has been on the air for 25 years. She's covered all kinds of topics, had some of the biggest celebrities sit on her couch, and she's revealed some of the most personal things about her own life to the world all on her talk show.

Few if any have come close to how she's connected to her audience and she's created a brand out of being who she is. This fall TV networks will all be trying to introduce the next "Oprah" show that will try to claim that same connection with viewers.

This fall TV stations across the country will have to fill Oprah's time slot with someone new. Some station will air local news during the hour, others are moving shows like "Dr. Oz" or "Ellen" into the new time. CNN anchor Anderson Cooper is debuting an new daytime talk that will also air in many cities during the time Oprah airs now. TV executives are worried that Oprah's over six million daily viewers will not return to daytime TV once she's gone. The key will be to connect with viewers on a personal level like Oprah has.

The Oprah Winfrey Show will air its last original episode this Wednesday. Check your local listings for times.
