Has HRC Sold Out by Appointing Lloyd Blankfein As Spokesman?

If you haven't heard, the HRC (Human Rights Campaign) has appointed Goldman Sachs Chief Executive Lloyd Blankfein as their newest spokesman for marriage equality.

This decision has caused an uproar within the gay community, making HRC look like a $ell out. Last weekend HRC also honored Goldman Sachs at their annual gala.

Lloyd Blankfein is one of the wealthiest men in American, and he's running one of the biggest financial firms in the world. Not to mention, Goldman Sachs has a lot of political clout (HUGE), which is where the name "Government Sachs" came from (Google it).

Although it looks as if HRC is using Goldman Sachs as its money bag, the organization will become even more powerful in the White House and it can't really hurt the gay community...right?

Lloyd Blankfein is a long time advocate for marriage equality and Goldman Sachs even helps LGBT employees via domestic-partner benefits, etc...

This could ultimately be a good match, both politically and financially. Lets just hope HRC doesn't get too greedy.

Is The New Vanity Fair Cover "White-Washed?"

If the cover of Vanity Fair is to be believed, young Hollywood is a very white place. Yet again, the magazine has relegated black actresses to the inside fold of the cover of their "Young Hollywood" issue.

“We have the magazine producing this idea of the next generation of Hollywood that remains racially segregated and that is a problem on so many different levels,” said Princeton professor of African American Studies Dr. Daphne A. Brooks. “This has become a tradition at Vanity Fair.”

On the cover, "Dragon Tattoo" star Rooney Mara, "The Help" star Jessica Chastain, "Alice in Wonderland" star Mia Wasikowska and "The Hunger Games" star Jennifer Lawrence are featured in the Mario Testino art deco shot. They are all white.

Of the 11 women chosen by Vanity Fair Features editor Jane Sarkin to grace the fold-out cover, only two are women of color—“Mission Impossible” star Paula Patten and “Pariah” star Adepero Oduye. Those two women appear on fold out panels two and three.

Rounding out the spread are Elizabeth Olsen, Shailene Woodley, Brit Marling, Felicity Jones and Lily Collins.

Rinehart Wealth Doubles To $18 Billion On New Deal

Australian Gina Rinehart could soon become the world's wealthiest woman after amassing an $18 billion fortune from mining and media investments, Forbes magazine says in its latest list of the wealthiest people in Australia.

The 57-year old widow saw her fortune almost double after a deal signed last month that will see South Korean steel giant POSCO take a 15 percent stake in her Roy Hill iron ore mine in Western Australia's Pilbara iron belt.

The deal valued the project at $10 billion, boosting Rinehart's fortune dramatically.

In the next few years, Rinehart also has plans to expand her iron ore operations and develop two coal collieries.

If commodity prices hold up, Rinehart could challenge Christie Walton, worth $24.5 billion, as the world's richest woman, Forbes said.

Luxury Suites Rule In Professional Sports Revenue

All 137 luxury suites at Lucas Oil Stadium were sold out months before the opening kick-off for Super Bowl XLVI, according to stadium officials in Indianapolis.

With a minimum reported price of $80,000 per box, that kind of money has turned luxury suite revenue into one of the most dominant forces in sports, analysts say.

In the past 20 years, 75 percent of American sports teams have either built or remodeled their venues, with luxury suite additions being a major reason for the construction and renovation.

Ticket sales, once the main source of any professional team's financial success, are now just part of the revenue mix, along with television contracts and heavily marketed merchandising.

While the number of suites varies — the new Yankee Stadium has 68 while Dallas Cowboys Stadium has 300 — any given suite can sell from $224,000 to more than $900,000 per year.

Rolls-Royce Year Of The Dragon Phantom Sold Out

GOODWOOD, England — Wealthy Rolls-Royce buyers in the Middle East and China are snapping up custom models, including the 2012 Year of the Dragon Phantom, propelling the automaker to explosive growth.

Custom Phantoms delivered to Middle East clients jumped from 75 percent of the sales mix in 2005 to 99 percent in 2011, said Rolls-Royce, which added, "In some markets in the Middle East, every Phantom featured bespoke content."

Custom Phantom sales increased from 30 percent to 84 percent in North America in 2011.

Rolls-Royce last year doubled the number of custom experts in its bespoke operation and in February will break ground on an expanded manufacturing facility.

The automaker has sold out of a $1.2-million 2012 Year of the Dragon Phantom model in China, according to Bloomberg.

BMW Beats Mercedes In U.S. Luxury Car Sales

The BMW brand sold 247,907 vehicles in 2011, up 13 percent from the previous year. Mercedes-Benz brand sold 245,231 vehicles, also up 13 percent.

BMW's surge ended the streak of 11 years for Lexus as the top-selling luxury brand in the U.S. market. Lexus was third in 2011, selling 198,552 vehicles, a drop of 13 percent. Toyota and Lexus sales suffered from the effects of last March's earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

Toyota officials projected on that Lexus' 2012 U.S. sales will increase by more than 20 percent.

MILAN -- French luxury groups are on the prowl for promising Italian menswear brands after France's PPR bought Italian tailor Brioni this month, fashion doyen Giorgio Armani said last Tuesday, adding that his business was not for sale.

PPR, which owns luxury Italian handbag and shoemaker Gucci was well as French fashion brand Yves Saint Laurent, finalised its acquisition of Brioni this month, reviving market expectations of a new consolidation trend in the industry.

“The French are very aggressive, they are looking for fantastic brands with an established business and share markets,” Armani told reporters at the Milan menswear week ending on Tuesday. “This is not over yet.”

Armani, who has just opened a second luxury hotel with room prices ranging from 500 euros ($630) to 11,000 euros, said he was confident about 2012 despite economic turmoil.

So we were checking the internet for Lux Millionaire and low and behold, a "hair salon" in Atlanta has basically stolen our name.

"Millionaire Lux" is a random hair salon in Atlanta, GA that popped up immediately when typing "Lux Millionaire" into the search engine.

On top of all this, the "salon" had the audacity to give its domain "Millionairelux.com!" What kind of hair salon names itself "Millionaire Lux?"

Do you know what Lux Millionaire's domain is? Take a look at the url above.

Its obvious this "salon" used Lux Millionaire's name to its advantage in order to attract clients or receive google views. And we find it a bit disrespectful (sorry but seriously)...

Lux Millionaire and the Lux Millionaire Corporation is in NO WAY, shape, or form, affiliated with this "Millionaire Lux" hair salon located in Atlanta, GA. Make no mistake folks.

Fashion News: UK fashion Giant 'Peacock' Collapses

Saddled with £240 million debt, British value clothing retailer Peacocks was placed in administration overnight.

It’s the UK retail sector’s biggest collapse since the high profile demise of the Woolworths variety stores in 2008.

Peacocks has 611 stores and 49 concessions and employs 9600 staff.

KPMG has been appointed administrator and says it will keep the business trading while it assesses options for sale as a going concern. No stores have closed as yet and no staff made redundant.

Where Did Haiti's Earthquake Relief Funds Really Go?

Haiti, a close neighbor of the US with over nine million people, was devastated by an earthquake on January 12, 2010. Hundreds of thousands were killed and many more wounded.

The UN estimated international donors gave Haiti over $1.6 billion in relief aid since the earthquake (about $155 per Haitian) and over $2 billion in recovery aid (about $173 per Haitian) over the last two years.

Yet Haiti looks like the earthquake happened two months ago, not two years. Over half a million people remain homeless in hundreds of informal camps, most of the tons of debris from destroyed buildings still lays where it fell, and cholera, a preventable disease, was introduced into the country and is now an epidemic killing thousands and sickening hundreds of thousands more.

It turns out that almost none of the money that the general public thought was going to Haiti actually went directly to Haiti.

Right after the earthquake, the US allocated $379 million in aid and sent in 5000 troops. The Associated Press discovered that of the $379 million in initial US money promised for Haiti, most was not really money going directly, or in some cases even indirectly, to Haiti. They documented in January 2010 that thirty three cents of each of these US dollars for Haiti was actually given directly back to the US to reimburse ourselves for sending in our military.

The New Year is here and after posting over 400+ articles on this site (among others), I felt it was time for a very small "addition" to the Lux Millionaire website; a feature article about the owner...me.

As quoted from The Social Network: "The internet isn't written in pencil, its written in ink."
With that being said, I understand that by writing this article, there may be negative reactions, but hopefully, positive ones as well. Lets just see where it goes then, shall we?

How did I get here?
When I was 18 I started a blog called "Ricardo's Celebrity Dish." It was a Perez Hilton kind of site, dedicated to celebrity obsession and gossip. After a few months I received an email from a college magazine, basically offering me a contributing author internship about my university.

I applied for the internship and in a few hours (literally) I was accepted. I spent the next three months writing a cool guide for the company about my university. That internship is now its own website and an e-book, featured all over the internet. That same year I also won a university writing contest. I submitted a short story called "Chelsea Livid," which the university published and paid me for (WOW).

SIDENOTE: Chelsea Livid is about a girl named Chelsea Livid who becomes this big socialite and flies in private jets, goes to the Hampton's on vacation, and jet sets to London with the hottest celebrity guys. The story ends with a huge scandal! Google "Chelsea Livid" for more information.

Until Chelsea Livid, I never received payment for writing anything, so I was excited! It seemed the planets were aligning...then I shut down the celebrity dish website. It was too much gossip and that wasn't what I wanted to be known for.

Along came "Luxury Millionaire"
Lux Millionaire (originally Luxury Millionaire), came about the summer of 2010 at a friends house. I just came back from a trip to Seattle and I was inspired to do something...different. After watching back to back episodes of VH1's "The Fabulous Life," reading a variety of fashion and lifestyle magazines, and daydreaming about celeb-reality, I decided to create my own world of all the above. I figured that the world (America especially), was obsessed with celebrity culture, wealth, bling, and the good life. Looking at Lux Millionaire 18 months later, it appears I was right. However, I would never have guessed that my tiny blog would become an internationally viewed website, or that I'd actually turn it into a business.

Within two weeks I received my very first client. Every month after that more clients and more viewers came along (but still not enough...obviously). In just a few months Lux Millionaire received viewers from 50 parts around the world, and in less than a year, over 120 parts around the world. Now that Lux Millionaire is 18 months old, the site has received over 375,000+ views from over 130 parts around the world, and its growing faster than ever. That's pretty good for no overhead and free publicity.

After months of changes and style upgrades, horrible clients (and boy do I mean horrible), amazing clients, and added websites and brands, Lux Millionaire is no longer just a site, its a corporation. I incorporated the "Lux Millionaire Corporation" in November 2011 and I have big plans for it...I hope. I plan to continue with weekly content updates, more social networking publicity, launching an online magazine via Issuu.com, and reaching 1,000,000 views by the end of the year. I added a PR service called the "Lux News Group," which gets press releases and popular news out via the world-wide-web, and that's gradually growing as well.

On another note:
I watched the first episode of "Its a Brad Brad World," and it inspired me to continue building my brand and my life, and it showed me that I'm not alone in this crazy world of business, even when it feels like I am. I've been given some crazy life cards to play with, and I plan on winning the game of life my way and by my own rules. I have no idea what to expect for the future, but I know I've been given a great opportunity and all I need is the right door to open and boom! I'm busting in like a bull on a mission. That was cool...right?
