At first glance its proportions speak for themselves: at 5.76 metres, Project Nightingale is enormous for a two‑seater. Its look draws on Streamline Moderne — the late Art Deco emphasis on pure, unadorned form — and also references Rolls‑Royce’s experimental “EX” cars of the 1920s. These red‑badged prototypes, among the marque’s rarest and most coveted, directly inspired Nightingale, especially 16EX and 17EX.

The absence of an internal‑combustion engine lets the front remain clean and flat. Complementing that purity, Nightingale adopts thin, vertically aligned headlights at the outermost points of the front face instead of the marque’s typical horizontal lights.

The car’s stance is further elevated by record-breaking 24‑inch rims—the largest ever fitted to a Rolls‑Royce. All four wheels are directional, ensuring the left and right designs perfectly mirror one another, while the rear pair is noticeably broader than the front.

The ‘Starlight Breeze Suite’ Interior

The interior is equally opulent: seats trimmed in pastel Charles Blue leather with Grace White accents and Deep Navy inserts, while the retractable soft top is finished in a light silver.

Without a fixed roof, the traditional Starlight headliner is replaced by the new Starlight Breeze Suite — 10,500 ‘stars’ that run from the door panels behind the seats, wrapping the driver and passenger in a horseshoe of light.

Powertrain, Pricing, and Exclusivity

Powered entirely by electricity, Project Nightingale carries an upgraded, heavily modified version of the Spectre’s drivetrain beneath its striking exterior.

Last month at Mecum’s Las Vegas auction, this ultra-rare bike sold for $313,500—making it the most expensive Japanese motorcycle ever sold, according to Hagerty. The jaw-dropping price reflects just how significant this early production model is to motorcycle history.

The True Pioneer of the CB750 Legacy

Few motorcycles can claim to be true firsts, but this one can. Built in October 1968, this CB750 Sandcast Prototype was the original CB750 sent to American Honda—used to test the revolutionary 4-cylinder engine and build anticipation for its public debut. It predates the four pre-production samples that arrived for the January 1969 Dealer Convention in Las Vegas, making it the true pioneer of the CB750 legacy.

While the four pre-production samples closely mirrored the production bikes that would follow, this 1968 prototype stands apart as a singular, hand-built masterpiece. Not a single component carries over to those later samples. The design is distinct, the functionality is unique, and even when you compare it to the final production model, the resemblance is only superficial. This is a machine unto itself.

A Restoration That Revealed History

Vic World acquired this motorcycle in the mid-1990s and restored it at World Motorcycles in San Bruno, California. The restoration revealed numerous experimental features that document Honda’s design process.

The side covers are asymmetrical, with a shorter right cover exposing the airbox and an extended left cover concealing it. The valve cover is cast with “HONDA” rather than the later “OHC 750” marking. The sand-cast front brake master cylinder features minimal fluid capacity, a steel line, and an inward slant—evidence of Honda’s early exploration of disc-brake technology for motorcycles.

Unique Engineering: The Rear-Hinged Seat

This prototype is the sole CB750 ever made with a rear-hinged seat that flips up from the front. Beyond this distinctive feature, the vast majority of its components differ from production CB750s. The only notable exception is the handgrips. The engine itself is narrower than production units, beginning with a billet crankshaft—a fundamental difference that extends throughout the powertrain.

The “Unconventional” Carburetor Setup

One of the clearest examples of Honda’s trial-and-error development is the carburetor setup: a set of four one-off, sand-cast Keihin units that bear little resemblance to those on production CB750s. Notably, these prototype Keihins share a single float chamber between every two carburetors.

The carburetors are Honda’s experimental blueprint made visible. Four one-off, sand-cast Keihin units—nothing like what ended up on production CB750s. The kicker: they share float chambers in pairs. It’s unconventional, it’s weird, and it’s exactly what you’d expect from a company still figuring out how to build the perfect four-cylinder motorcycle.

The methodology is akin to an artist building a canvas. It begins with a dark base coat followed by protective clear coats, and finally, a lighter top layer. A specialized laser then delicately etches away just 145 microns of that light paint to reveal the darker shade underneath. A final round of hand-sanding brings out the crisp, intricate Mashrabiya pattern.

This technique draws inspiration from Sgraffito, an ancient Italian artistic practice of scratching away surface layers to reveal contrasting colors beneath.

Inside the Phantom Arabesque

Step inside the Phantom Arabesque and the mashrabiya story continues. The geometric pattern flows through carefully selected woods: rich Blackwood and Black Bolivar create visual rhythm across surfaces, while Selby Grey and Black leathers wrap the cabin in sophisticated elegance. But the designers didn’t stop there. The glowing tread plates even mirror that stunning hood engraving in cross-section detail—so every time you step in, it’s a little reminder of the artistry hiding underneath.

The Price of Exclusivity

What’s the true price tag on this artistry? Rolls-Royce isn’t telling. A base Phantom starts at $520,000, but the Arabesque? It’s surely a massive leap—maybe even seven figures. The owner’s name stays secret, but its starring spot in their elite collection says it all about its legendary status.

Tobias Sicheneder, General Manager of the Exterior Surface Centre, highlights the future implications of this technology:

Measuring 43 mm in diameter, 51.73 mm in length, and 14.55 mm thick, it’s crafted from a composite ceramic reinforced with glass and carbon fibers in a polymer matrix—making it far more shatter-resistant than traditional ceramics.

The black DLC-coated titanium caseback offers a view of the full aluminum rotor, adorned with sun-inspired rays and circles that symbolize the Sun powering the UR-12.02.

At the heart of the UR‑100V LS Ceramic is the UR 12.02 automatic calibre: a Windfänger air‑resistance system governs winding to curb excessive input, and twin barrels supply a 48‑hour reserve as the movement beats at 28,800 vph.

A 1980 BMW M1, previously owned by three-time Formula 1 champion Niki Lauda, will be offered at Mecum’s Kissimmee auction in January 2026 and could sell for almost $700K. With styling by Giorgetto Giugiaro, the M1 is BMW’s one true mid-engine supercar and the debut bearer of M badges.

What makes this vehicle exceptional is its origin story. Lauda didn’t purchase this M1; BMW awarded it to him for taking the 1979 M1 Procar crown. The single-make series matched F1 drivers in identical mid-engine racers and delivered frantic racing. While the track versions became canvases for legends like the famous BMW M1 Art Car by Andy Warhol, Lauda dominated the series through steady speed. Despite retiring in three of eight events, he won the championship, claiming this specific road car as his prize.

This sale represents Phillips’ highest-ever U.S. watch auction result since the nearly $17.8 million Paul Newman Rolex Daytona in 2017, and it marks the record for the most expensive F.P. Journe timepiece ever sold. According to the press release, an anonymous buyer won the piece after an intense 11-minute bidding battle.

A Challenge from The Godfather Director

It began in 2012 when Coppola, the director of The Godfather and Apocalypse Now, asked Journe if any watchmaker had represented hours the way the ancients did — by counting them on fingers. Journe embraced the challenge and, after seven years of development, introduced a wristwatch featuring his Octa automatic movement with a remontoir d’égalité.

Inspired by 16th-Century Prosthetics

One of just two produced, Mr. Coppola’s prototype is defined by an innovative automaton: a sculpted hand whose five fingers indicate the twelve hours. Journe was inspired by Ambroise Paré, the 16th‑century surgeon known for early prosthetic hands, whose articulated iron design informed the watch’s almost steampunk appearance. It evokes a near‑steampunk feel, with overlapping metal plates and exposed screws that call to mind medieval gauntlets built to shield the hands and wrists in combat.

Technical Mastery: The Octa Caliber

After seven years of work to integrate and validate the design, Journe delivered a complex yet reliable watch driven by the Octa caliber 1300.3 with remontoir d’égalité, with the movement measuring a mere 8.1 mm thick.

Ressence and Newson now present the TYPE 3 MN, an 80-piece limited edition timepiece that merges Newson’s soft futuristic aesthetics with Benoît Mintiens’ refined minimalist approach to timekeeping.

At first glance, the new Type 3 MN evokes Newson’s Ikepod era with its smooth, pebble-like silhouette that challenged conventional watch design, while preserving the core elements of a classic Type 3.

The 45mm‑wide, 15mm‑high Grade 5 titanium case might look imposing, but its lug‑free round construction slots the strap into the case ends, giving the sides an inherent downward tilt. Inside, two hermetically sealed sections separate 4.15ml of oil in the upper half from the mechanical base movement in the lower half.

Dial and Movement: Oil-Filled Mechanics

The sleek case serves as a quiet canvas for the intricate dial, keeping every Type 3 detail but filtered through Newson’s style. The scheme is largely greyscale with bold yellow pops.

White‑on‑black marks the outer date and 60‑minute scales, the ROCS disc is a soft grey, and the weeks, hours, seconds and oil‑temperature sub‑dials are black‑white with yellow hands, reminiscent of the high‑contrast warning graphics found in factory safety signage.

He played this guitar extensively during the recording of Nirvana’s albums “Nevermind” and “In Utero,” performed with it live during the band’s peak years, and famously wielded it in the “Smells Like Teen Spirit” music video.

Riva 112′ Dolcevita Super Main Deck & Salon Design

The salon on the main deck, which is more than 50 m², has high ceilings that create a light and comfortable atmosphere. The ceilings are over 2 meters high everywhere and up to 2.25 meters at the highest point. The black hammered leather and glossy lacquer absorb the sunlight from the large glazed side panels, and the decor emphasises glossy rosewood, light carpets, and ceilings for a polished feel.

The inaugural Riva 112′ Dolcevita Super’s lounge features an entrance dining area centred on an Acerbis Int table with a stainless‑steel base and glass top, seating ten on MDF Italia leather chairs. The midship salon comprises three Poltrona Frau sofas (leather frames, fabric cushions) arranged in a horseshoe around a Poliform coffee table to create a cosy, balanced layout.
