The guitar is one of the oldest and most popular forms of musical instrument in the world; in fact almost every culture has its own version of the standard acoustic guitar. Even after thousands of years of existence we can still hear the catchy rhythms and complex leads of the guitar being incorporated into a wide variety of modern musical genres. Each day hundreds of people decide to pick up and learn the guitar, but of those that do only a small group of individuals actually stick with it and master this instrument.

The reason most newbie guitarists give up is because of the lack of patience, they expect to quickly learn the chords and scales and then instantly be able to play catchy tunes in no time at all. Though, if you want to learn how to play guitar you need to study several key skills such as learn to play guitar notes, learn to play guitar chords, master the scales and keep learning other peoples songs so that you can actively see how things work together to form music.

Getting Started - The Basic Skills
There is no sure way to learn guitar fast; you should first begin with offline or online guitar lessons for beginners to help you master the key areas. Luckily the internet provides us with the perfect resource for free information, tips and tricks; you can easily pick up chord charts, scale charts, tuning software, MP3's, learn how to play guitar video tutorials and a lot of other useful advice. To help you get started on your road to stardom, here are some tips and tricks to help you speed towards playing like a pro.

Practice and repetition - This goes without saying, but ignoring this is one of the main reasons people give up learning the guitar. When studying something we need the satisfaction of marked improvement otherwise we tend to give up. It is only through regular daily practice and repeating what we've learned over and over that we both get better and learn the guitar quickly. It is a fact that our brains only learn and remember new information after hearing or doing it a minimum of 14 times, and in order to burn this information into our heads we need to do it double that amount.

Picking and strumming - There are hundreds of different types of picks, those for strumming, fine note picking and thumb picks. Each individual pick has a particular size and grade of hardness, it's a good idea to go to your local music store and buy a variety of picks to experiment with before choosing the right one for you.
There are 2 right ways to hold a pick, either holding it between the pads of your thumb and index finger or between the thumb and side of the index finger; the second method is best for strumming while the first allows you more precise single note picking.

Holding chords or fretting - Getting your fingers positioned correctly to form chord patterns is an important skill that comes with time and practice. When learning a new chord try to visually memorize the position of your fingers and the placing on the neck, this will help you change between chords without having to always look at the guitar. To avoid overlapping the fret only use the tips of your finger to push down on the strings and if you hear a buzz instead of a clear ring immediately reposition the chord and keep repeating until you get a clear sound.

Gain Free Access Now!!

If you want to learn to play Guitar, you would probably want to know what the different approaches are and might even consider wanting to figure out the right way in which you can go about this. While there is no right or wrong here, you should definitely know the different approaches so that you can easily tread on the right path. In this manner, you will be better prepared and won't go in with something that you are not completely sure about. Needless to say, this is something that you would want to think very carefully about if you want to reach your goal.

The first method to be discussed here will be the one that involves learning on your own. Some people use their own techniques to learn instruments. While this is not particularly bad as such, you should be careful as you might be limited by your own abilities. Therefore, if you want to learn to play Guitar according to your own speed and needs, this might be the thing to go in for. However, people who want to get done with it in a short period of time might find success in some of the other techniques.

You could consider the option to learn to play Guitar by taking online lessons. This is a technique that many people have made use of and have even succeeded in their efforts. The reason why this tends to be more successful is because the online medium has evolved quite a bit over the past. It is also quite affordable. However, since this is still a medium that can be controlled by you, the results could vary. Therefore, don't go in for this unless you have no other option to think about. It could be considered to be better than the previous option.

Another thing that you could make use of in order to learn to play Guitar is to learn from another professional in person. This time-tested method seems to be extremely successful but also requires more dedication and depending on the case, could cost more. Therefore, you should opt in for this only if you have the money to do so and find this to be something that could potentially help you get ahead in the long run. Dedication will be forced out of you by the instructor whenever there is a lack of it and you can have any and all doubts clarified right away.

There might be other approaches that can be used to learn to play Guitar. You should look into each one of these and figure out the one that could work best for you. Don't be worried about experimenting in order to figure this out. Over a period of time, you can easily determine which the best technique is and what exactly you ought to give priority to. It is possible that you will make mistakes at first, but not something that is too hard to fix or correct.

Learn Guitar Fast and Easy - Free Access Official Adult Guitar Lessons Website!

Millions of people dream of learning how to play guitar. For many, it's an un-quenched passion lying dormant for years just waiting for the right spark to come along and light the flame.
And when it finally does, the number one question is, "how do I get started"?

There are a number of avenues you can take to learn how to play guitar - private lessons, books, DVDs, online lessons and home study courses - but sometimes beginning guitarists choose to "go it alone".

Many times students decide to learn guitar on their own due to economic reasons, or a lack of desire to take part in a regimented course of study. Sometimes it's just a matter of wanting to accomplish something without any outside help.

Either way, if you've decided to teach yourself guitar then here are some ideas to help you get going.

1. Make sure your guitar is a "good fit"
Human beings come in all shapes and sizes, and so do guitars. Take the time and do the research to make sure your first guitar fits your body, arms and hands properly.
A visit to your local music store will help greatly in this process.

2. Learn the "basics" first
Spend some time working on learning the basic mechanics of playing guitar such as - how to hold the guitar, how to how the pick, how to read TAB and music charts, how to "fret" the guitar, and proper strumming techniques.

3. Learn how to tune the guitar
A properly tuned guitar is essential, and learning how to tune it is something you should work on before you try to play the first chord.

4. Learn the "CAGED" chords first
The "CAGED" chords are the major open chords on the guitar, and the foundation for which most other chords are formed. This is an important first step.
"CAGED" is simply an acronym for the open chords:
C - A - G - E - D
Get comfortable learning to play these first five chords early on.

5. Learn the "major" scale
The major scale is a great starting point for the study of scales and should be learned first. By knowing this scale and learning the "pattern" of the scale on the guitar neck you will have a solid foundation for learning how to play other scales and modes on the guitar later on.

6. Use technology
With the advent of the internet there are many places you can obtain all this information for free.
There are many sites that offer tutorials on learning the basic chords on guitar, as well as scales, modes licks and riffs.

In Summary

Learning guitar on your own can be a rewarding experience. Many great guitarists over the years have learned to play by teaching themselves.

However, most of the top guitar players that are "self taught" will usually admit to having a mentor somewhere along the way. Someone who took them under their wing and showed them some techniques.

The good news is that, nowadays you can have many "mentors" right at your fingertips. Quite often, learning riffs, licks and songs by your favorite guitar player is only a matter of doing a search on sites like YouTube.com or other guitar related sites.

Most of all, be patient with yourself and have fun! Learning how to teach yourself guitar is a challenge, but one that will give you years of satisfaction.

Hope you have been practicing on your guitar? Since lyonsmusic.com

has gone online, one of the most common questions that many guitarists ask
me is "How can I learn the guitar quick and improve my guitar playing skills?"

The answer to this question is very simple. All you need to do is make a conscious effort
to practice the guitar for at least 15 minutes everyday (which must include a good
practice plan of course...).

Short regular practices of 15-30 minutes every day is a far
more effective way than spending 5 hours at one go on the guitar. I know it is
hard to keep to a regular schedule with all the other commitments like
school, work or family. However, once you get used to the regular practicing,

guitar playing will become like second nature in your everyday routine.

Remember, a little practice everyday is the key to improving FAST and mastering the guitar.
