New Year’s Day—Enjoy the gorgeous vibes today. There’s a joyful moon in Leo in wonderful alignment with sparkling Venus in Sagittarius, and Mercury, also in Sag, who is ultra-interested in chatting and connecting. Chill out, and get in touch with your dreams, because from March to December 2013, dreams are easier than usual to turn into reality. More about that in future forecasts. For today, it’s just time to kick back and celebrate the wonder that is you.

New moon in Capricorn Jan 12. There’s an abundance of practical energy around from now until the end of the month. Get grounded; get real; get into action. Implement the next step in your master plan anytime from now onwards.

Mars in super-detached Aquarius gets cross and cranky with Saturn in Scorpio all month—probably worst around January 8. Not a good day to pick an argument with anyone—especially not an Aquarian, Scorpio, Taurean or a Leo. Stand back and watch. That’s safest right now. If you must assert yourself, do it brilliantly, in one great sweep, or honestly, don’t do it at all.

Jupiter triggers Chiron on January 15—a sensitive time, but then again, pretty much the whole of 2013 is a “sensitive time” for those who are planning to get on with healing themselves and their lives. What I’m saying here is, keep your sense of humour. What makes you writhe with grief or despair today could seem not so drastic tomorrow. This is a wonderful transit for wailing and weeping and generally letting go of the past.

The month of Aquarius begins on January 20. Happy birthday, celestial water-bearers! It’s your time of the year to be whoever you want, whenever you want, as often as you want. Who cares if no-one else understands you. You get you…and that’s the main thing. This is an exciting year for you, with Uranus, your ruler, still in fiery Aries all year long. Take leaps. Take bounds. Open up. Go forth. Do whatever your heart desires, and just add flash, colour, and fireworks. This is your creed for the coming year.

Full moon in Leo on January 27. Aha! Now we’re really feeling the heat! The first month of this wonderful year ends on a high, with a very potent full moon in Leo, sign of celebrity nonsense, celebrity chocolate, and stardom in general, major or minor. This is the day for pitching, playing, laughing and putting yourself forward. The bigger and bolder the idea, the better reception you get. Isn’t it wonderful when the stars help you out like that? But another possible outcome is this: people mess things up all by themselves…and then blame you. If you don’t want to be blamed, don’t preach, don’t be clever, and don’t blab on about nothing at all when the simple truth would be more expedient. Acting with integrity is paramount this month.

The sun begins in Sagittarius.

December 11: Mercury joins the sun in Sagg and stays till New Year’s Day. This is one of those times when everyone has very lofty ideas which they can’t wait to share with you; friends adore each other and want to hang out lots; and lovers make love via witty text messages. You may as well go along for the ride/party/life-enhancing conversations/hysteria/pontificating.

December 13: New moon in Sagg. Liberate yourself. This is the best day all month to express yourself freely, and speak your truth.

December 16: Venus also visits Sagg until January 9. Is there a down-side to Sagittarius? What could possibly go wrong? Count to ten before you a) leave your job for a hole in a ditch with potential; b) Marry someone off the plan; c) Ask someone to apologise. But I can recommend living in the moment. Meaningful socializing. Philosophical slumber parties. Venus in Sagg loves these sorts of things.

December 21: Summer Solstice. Mayan Calendar parties/hysteria. The month of Capricorn begins. How on Earth will we fit it all in? This is the most powerful day this month to meditate, swim in the ocean, take time for yourself, make a vow, or just do nothing for the whole day. Some say that the world will end. The only thing that will end, said the Mayans, is misery; one person at a time.

But just in case you wobble out, here’s my “Emergency Not-The-End-Of-The-World Drill”. Feel free to stick it to the fridge, bed-head, or family dog for handy reference.

1) Simplify your life as much as possible as soon as possible. You can read pages and pages and pages of astrological advice on the internet—but this is the spiritual key to our times. I cannot emphasize this enough. It’s probably what the Buddha was trying to say about two and a half thousand years ago. But the Buddha was a Taurean, you know, so he’s not talking about doing it tough. You can still enjoy an insanely high level of affluence if you want to. I’m talking about the stress. Oh the stress! Cut it in half and experience an instant spiritual awakening.

2) Be allowing. When you put up a wall to something or someone, your entire energy field shuts down, and that makes it more difficult for you to receive from anything and anyone. Instead of putting up a wall, practice being the Rock In The Stream. Allow things to stream around you, without judging them in any way. Judging binds you to what you judge.

3) Laugh at yourself regularly.

4) Take regular walks amongst leafy green objects—preferably living ones like trees. Also take baths, and possibly niacin. Definitely magnesium. Even coffee enemas are de rigeur for these awesome but periodically confronting times.

5) Be yourself and bless yourself. Every cell. Every thought. Every moment. Everything you love.

Christmas Day 2012:  Holy goat-herder, everyone is volatile— including your merest and dearest relies. Don’t have a family? The only other person within one mile of your hide-away in the forest will probably find something wrong with you today. As I said—be the Rock In The Stream. Allow people to be as they are for as long as you can manage it, and then nick off to sunbathe on the nearest roof in your best dress, or roll on the lawn just because you want to.

December 27: Sensible Saturn aligns with Pluto the Volcano. Creative victories. Success. Act on your hunches today with authority and confidence. Scorpios, Leos and Aquarians are (yippee!) negotiable, so corner one of those if you need to.

December 28: Full moon in Cancer. Touchy. Ouchy. Sensitive. Emotional scenes unless you are well-ensconced under the table. If you’re up for it, go ahead, emote all over the place. Sometimes, there’s nothing quite like a catharsis.

December 31: New Year’s Eve. Tonight is blessed by an effervescent moon in Leo. If you are a laid-back Earth sign or Water sign, prepare to bunker down. If you are a Fire sign or Air sign, bless you for not caring what the Hades anyone thinks of you. The things you ceremonially let go of tonight will be easier than usual to shed, with Chiron the Centaur also prominent—known by the ancients as a masterful healer. Release yourself. Now is the time.

And that is it and if we get through it, we will surely be enlightened.

August 2:  Full moon in Aquarius.

August 8: Mercury goes direct. At last, this Mercury retrograde phase is over, and life gets back to normal again. But oh dear, what is “normal” these days, when our entire view of reality is morphing quicker than you can say “Galactic Butterfly”? The answer is this: life will be “normal” in the sense that people will actually answer your questions without getting completely side-tracked. Also, people will also be able to conduct a conversation without first demanding a million compliments.

August 18: New Moon in Leo. This is a brilliant new moon indeed, so take some time to set your intentions for the glorious month ahead. But Mars and Saturn are active too, meaning that if someone is bluffing you, it’s a wonderful time to call their bluff. Don’t be shy; speak your truth.

August 23: The month of Virgo begins. Virgos often get a bad rap, but honestly, where would humanity be without spreadsheets? Not to mention water filters, worm farms, and the nearest espresso machine. Inventing all these handy things is what makes Virgos total geniuses. But don’t be fooled; they’re deep as well, with gracious souls and delightful dreams, if you know how to open them up. In a word: patience. Oh and respect. Well, that’s two words, but they will work wonders.

August 31: Full moon in Pisces. If you feel overwhelmed by everything, cuddle up on the couch with someone, or listen to some soothing music, because this full moon, and the days leading up to it, are a very sensitive time. If you have information overload, this is definitely a day to unplug and drift off into another realm. Living quietly in your heart will get you so much further today. Actually, that goes for every day as this incredible year unfolds, and the mind and the heart become as one.

July 4: Full Moon in Capricorn. The month of Cancer is still in full swing as the month of July begins, and this full moon is definitely a time to live like a Cancerian super-nanny. It’s time to get warm and cuddly by the hearth, and treasure the people that treasure you. But if you feel you are not on track, this full moon could be rather testing. Picking fights won’t help a bit. Relaxing is the way to go. It’s so important to be kind to yourself as the massively transformational stars of 2012 unfold.

July 15 to August 8: Mercury moves retrograde in Leo. Holy lioness, this could be testing! Leo likes action, colour and passion. Well, Mercury retrograde in this blazing star sign could be action aplenty! But will it be of a constructive nature? Storms in teacups ought to be avoided, and you can do that by communicating clearly with all sentient beings at all times. Aim to stay calm and infinitely collected. Tempers may fray, and romances may go temporarily bonkers. Chill, people, chill!

July 19: New Moon in Cancer. Ah, now, this new moon is divine. Isn’t everything about the sign of Cancer? On the spiritual level, it’s all about love—of the unconditional kind. If someone is not giving you what you want, just send love and let them go. Do not interfere in their choices, no matter how insane they seem. On this night, pray for the strength to leave loved ones alone. If they call you, well, that’s different. You can be there, but remember to breathe!

July 22: The loveable month of Leo begins, and Jupiter aligns with excitable Uranus. Sages of the world unite! Avatars, please come out from under the table! This is one of those excitable moments when you can change your mind-set in a heartbeat. Be very brave. Be very bold. Allow yourself to embrace your dreams. Change may not be instant, but it will come, so keep the faith.

June 4: Full moon in Sagittarius plus lunar eclipse.

The month of Gemini is still in full swing as June begins. Following on from the solar eclipse on May 21, this lunar eclipse signals “long-awaited breakthroughs” for those who have been busy in their alchemical laboratories. So how exactly do you turn lead into gold? It’s a metaphor, of course, about moving from your head (judgement) to your heart (self-acceptance). This is the biggest astrological theme for 2012, so let’s action it!

June 6: Venus-Sun Occultation.

A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness Venus crossing the sun. The last time this occurred was 1882, and it won’t happen again until the year 2117. It always occurs in pairs; this time around, the first occultation was in June 2004, and this is the second. The ancient Mesopotamians and the Mayans considered this a powerful time to connect with higher spiritual forces – and it will be clearly visible from Perth at dawn, and from the eastern states of Australia from about 8am onwards. This is truly a wonderful day to open up your third eye chakra, and to give and receive healings.

June 12: Jupiter enters Gemini.

For the coming year, Jupiter will be helping us transform the way we think. All our ideas, and the stories we tell about ourselves, are going to be upgraded. Especially good for anyone whose life purpose is to generate positive and uplifting ideas. Hey, isn’t that all of us?

June 20: New moon in Gemini.

The month of Gemini comes to magnificent close. A super-powerful day for setting your intentions for the coming twelve months. Also a wonderful day for changing your name, or your direction in life.

June 21, Winter Solstice.

The cuddly month of Cancer begins. Cook up an Ayurvedic soup for the soul; forgive your family; adopt a puppy; support a rainforest; or all of the above. A window to the higher realms opens on this day.

June 24: Uranus squares Pluto.

Change on the personal level; change on the global level. Of course, this can bring periods of upheaval. If that is your situation, imagine you are on an ocean. The wise traveller does not worry about the waves that toss the boat. She is content to trust her Soul to carry her safely over the sea to a calmer and happier place. In shaky moments, I recommend this mantra: “I AM LOVE. LOVE IS THE ONLY REALITY.” It’s potent. Try it and see.

Full moon in Libra April 7: Big full moon, big ideas, big enthusiasms, big crushes, big mistakes (but they are just beautiful “learning curves”, so go right ahead!)

Grand Cross April 6 to 13! Venus entices you to look back to the past. This is a place astrologers generally say it’s wise to leave behind. But right now, the past has something wonderful to teach you, or to remind you about. So climb into your Inner Hammock and go right ahead and get all nostalgic; it could lead to a brand new insight. Reconnect with wise old friends, or even a not-so-wise younger version of yourself. There’s magic about, as always with Venus, and crazy ideas could be really blessed. Mars may not be happy…he thinks there is a tonne of merde you need to deal with. He’s sort of right, so make a bit of time for him too.

Uranus calling, April 17: Holy Ram’s Horns, this is a beauty. It’s big and it’s rare, and there is nothing you cannot begin under these stars. So begin something wonderful. Leave the dishes in the sink and go swim in a rainbow with a friend. Launch a business, or launch an internal revolution – a revolution of the heart. The stars are definitely excitable, with great results. Be ludicrous, daring and light-hearted.

Month of Taurus begins April 20, followed by the new moon in Taurus April 21: Gather round, all ye Taureans. This is your month and Jupiter is still on board to help you prosper and expand. Capricorns and Virgos have loads of energy, too. If you’re not an Earth sign, get as earthy as you can. I don’t mean roll in the nearest patch of mud; I mean take a practical, even (gasp!) sensible step forwards in life, preferably with rock-like self-confidence.

As I’ve said before, the first half of 2012 is all about going for it; but in a way that doesn’t burn out your adrenals. Earth signs never give up in the middle of a big moment, and honestly, 2012 is one long grand “moment”. The affirmation I recommend for this year is one that brings your future right into the present. Try sentences beginning with: “I GIVE THANKS FOR BEING….(fill in the gap)….” It’s simple yet powerful. Earth signs love this kind of thing. They don’t use convoluted affirmations that require you to repeat the names of all the Ascended Masters whilst riding a uni-cycle. If you think Taureans are a smug lot, think again. Maybe they’re just relaxed?
