I come across the North Borneo WW1 Memorial Monument which is not far from Gaya Street

The memorial which was unveiled on 8 May 1923 to commemorate the death of 13 local North Borneo soldiers who enlisted in the British Forces during World War 1.

The members of the Malaysian Armed Forces who lost their lives during the Indonesian Confrontation from 1963 to 1966.

Taiwan Trip - Chiang Kai Siek Memorial Hall

The Chiang Kai Siek Memorial Hall is a famous monument, landmark and tourist attraction erected in memory of Chiang Kai Siek the former President of The Republic of China.

The monument, surrounded by a park, stands at the east end of Memorial Hall Square.

The structure is framed on the north and south by the National Theater and National Concert Hall,

I almost miss out the change of guard ceremony but couldn't get to the front as there is so many people photographing the ceremony.

Lots of people there photographing the ceremony.

The solemn guard with serious facial expressions and manners until next hour.

Taiwan - Martyr's Shrine Change Of Guards Ceremony

The Martyr's Shine was built to commemorate soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country during the War of Resistance against Japan and Civil War between Nationalist Government and the Communist Party.

The Martyr's Shine was built in 1969, with the main architecture designed similar to Taihe Dian Imperial Palace in Beijing. The grand design symbolizes the braveness and selfless spirits of the martyrs.

The highlight of this scenic spot is the performance of shifting guards at the beginning of each hour. This noble performance often attracts crowds of onlookers from all over the world.

When finishing change of shifts, the shifted soldiers will then stand still in front of the Martyr’s Shrine for the next hour like solemn statues with serious facial expressions and manners until next hour.

United Buddy Bears At Pavilion KL

I was last month for a short trip in KL, got to Pavilion and saw The United Buddy Bears exhibition in front of Pavilion about 143 of them.

Under this motto, the United Buddy Bears promote living together in peace and harmony on their global tour. About 143 Buddy Bears represent as many countries recognised by the UN. Since the first exhibition in Berlin in 2002, more than 25 million visitors world wide have been able to admire the United Buddy Bears.

The Buddy Bears stand together "hand in hand", symbolising the future vision of a peaceful world. Each bear stands for the people of the different countries and their culture, yet not for political system.

Each Buddy Bears shows the individual design created by different artists on behalf of their native countries. The international artists' different styles are joined together in one work of art, spreading zest of life. The diverse design of the Buddy Bears-always typical for the respective countries-enables the visitors to experience a journey around the globe.

The Malaysian United Bear was painted by our very own local artist A. Rahim Muda.

The Sultan Abdul Samad Building At Kuala Lumpur

The Sultan Abdul Samad Building is located in front of Dataran Merdeka (Independence Square) in Jalan Raja is one of the most well known landmarks in the city. The construction of this building started in 1893 and was completed in 1897. Initially the building was designed to house the colonial State Government of Selangor but when it was completed, it housed the entire Federated Malay States (FMS) admninistration.

The building boasts a 43.6 metre high clock tower with a large dome, which is one of its most famous features.

There are two smaller towers near the main entrance, both which also domed. The domes are very unique.

The smaller domes were originally made of copper sheets placed over wooden frames and painted black. These were later replaced by proper copper domes that were gifts from the Australian government. The new domes were not painted but coated with high quality varnish to retain their shine.

The building houses the offices of the Ministry of Information, Communications and Culture of Malaysia.

The foundation stone of the building was laid by the Governor of the Straits Settlements, Sir Charles Mitchell, on 19th October 1894.

It formerly housed the superior courts of the country: the Federal Court Of Malaysia, the Court Of Appeals and the High Court Of Malaya.

The building has undergone several renovations. These included building extensions at the back to house officers and canteen and overhauling the wiring system to allow more lighting and the use of air conditioners. It Is 122 metres long.

The Shenyang Imperial Palace is famous for its Manchu characteristics and is the founding area of the Qing Dynasty. In 1616, Nuerhachi the chief of Nuzhen tribe in Jianzhou in the Ming Dynasty, unified all the Nuzhen tribe and declared himself "Khan" or King.

After the Qing Dynasty moved its capital to Beijing in 1644, the Shenyang Palace was preserved and continued to expanded. From 1671 to 1829 the Qing emperors including KangXi, QinLong, Jiaqing and Daoguang all stay in the palace during their visit and offer sacrifices to their ancestor ceremonies and held celebrations.

Pinang Peranakan Mansion - Penang

The Pinang Peranakan Mansion was originally the home of Kapitan Chung Keng Kwee.

The building was refurnished and turned into a “Baba Nyonya” Museum to showcase the lifestyle and culture of the eclectic Chinese Straits Settlement in Penang called the Peranakan. The gentlemen were known as “Baba” and the ladies as “Nyonya”.

The mansion was the locations for the filming of the Little Nyonya, a 34 episode drama series by Singapore MediaCrop TV Channel 8.

The first Sarawak State Legislative Assembly was establish after its inaugural meeting in Bintulu 8 September 1867.

The council now is 144 years old and located at Lebuh Abang Galau in honour of one of the founder council members.

The Bristish officers were James B. Crookshank, William H. Rodway, Alfred R. Gouhton, Thomas S.C. Chapman and James H. Nelson. Locals recorded attending the meeting were Pengiran Matusin (Datuk Bandar), Pengiran Matahir, Pengiran Abu Bakar, Abang Matassan, Tuan Khatib, Awang Dulla, Mani, Abang Ain, Abang Tek, Abang Apong, Abang Leman, Abang Man, Abang Galau, Abang Ali and Abang Usup.

I come back again during the night to shot the night view of the monument.

The monument is located at the Popular Corner Seafood Restaurant.

Sibu BASE Jump 2011

The next day we travel to Sibu to watch Sibu BASE Jump at Wisma Sanyan, after we watch the International Borneo Kite Festival 2011 in Bintulu.

By the time we reach Sibu there is lots of people waiting for jumpers to jump from the 27th floor of Wisma Sanyan. There is 23 jumpers 19 jumpers are foreigners from Australia, UK, USA, Netherland, Austria and New Zealand and 4 jumpers from Malaysia.

All the jumpers had to jump from the 27th floor of Wisma Sanyan....

After they landed, the crowds all gather to take picture with the friendly jumpers

I have fun watching the BASE jump for the first time although have to wait under the hot sun for the jumpers to jump at the top floor of Wisma Sanyan.
