Noel McCormick Presents at First “Ignite Tampa Bay” Event

Our own Noel McCormick was one of the presenters at the first “Ignite Tampa Bay” event held on July 28, 2011 at the Wyndham Hotel in Tampa. ”Ignite” events have been held all over the United States, and provide an information exchange for fostering and inspiring an area’s creative community. In one evening, you hear passionate speakers from the local arts, technical, health, education, and business communities talk about their current projects or favorite ideas for just five minutes.

Presentations will educate and inspire you, and maybe make you laugh in the process. The presenters are limited to 20 slides and 5 minutes. Not a second more. The presenters need to get to the point quickly and make it exciting and engaging. They welcome topics about anything that other people will find interesting.

McCormick Stevenson Engineering & Design was proud to host Congressman Gus Bilirakis at our facility in May. A staunch supporter of small businesses, the Congressman was looking to gain insight and ideas regarding ways to improve our economy. Stress Analysis in Caesar II

McCormick Stevenson is providing pipe stress analysis support to Industrial Piping Systems, Inc. on the Benzene Unit Conversion project at the Murphy Oil Refinery, located in Superior, Wisconsin. Working closely with IPS’s designers and fabricators, over 60 high pressure and high temperature lines have analyzed and designed to meet code using Intergraph’s® Caesar II® software.

MCCST Helps Protect Our Warfighters

McCormick Stevenson provided mechanical engineering and design expertise to Sypris Electronics, LLC to support their development of a next generation cryptographic key loader. The RASKL has been certified by the National Security Agency and selected by the U.S. Air Force to be the sole replacement for the aging KYK-13 product. McCormick Stevenson is proud to have made a significant contribution to a device that will help protect our warfighters long into the future.

Houston Supports NASA

Plans are underway for a large contingency from the Space Center Houston area to head to Washington in early March to meet with Freshmen Members of Congress. This will be a very important trip, planned to help educate these new members on the benefits of a healthy space program for our country. Many of these new members were elected in hopes of them cutting the federal budget, and they need to know that space exploration is an investment in our country’s future and that the NASA budget is less than ½ of 1% of the federal budget.

McCormick Stevenson Hosts Successful MRL-131 Kick-off Meeting

Members of the MRL-131 Development Team, including ATK Advanced Energetic Systems (out of Radford, VA), Arnold Defense & Electronics (out of St. Louis, MO), and ATK Defense Electronics Systems (out of Clearwater, FL) attended the program Kick-Off meeting here at McCormick Stevenson. The two day meeting was a huge success and the Florida weather contributed to the positive vibes. The program will run until a planned test flight in November/December time frame.

As a result of our successful relationship with Symetrics Industries, we were recently approached by their sister division PhotoTelesis, Inc. in San Antonio, TX. Faced with a thermal challenge on a new piece of flight equipment, PhotoTelesis contracted McCormick Stevenson to provide computational fluids dynamics (CFD) analysis of the product in its thermal environment. Our mission was to identify opportunities for thermal optimization throughout the design, and demonstrate the return on the investment analytically before the first piece of metal was cut. PhotoTelesis recognized the value in cost and schedule savings that could be realized through the careful application of finite element analysis.
