Episode 22 provides us relief from motorcycle recalls! It is about time. We spend the first minutes of the show talking about the recent Ride for Kids in Indianapolis which raised money for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. Click on the Foundation link and see what they are all about and then click on Ride for Kids to find out where the nearest ride is to you. You can either volunteer to work the event or at least go and have a great ride.

Once we are done there we take the opportunity to speak with artist Matt Feaster. Matt took an old helmet his brother had and drew all over it with a Sharpie. After deciding he liked this artform he decided to create a rolling masterpiece in the same manner. You can see his first creation here. Here is a shot of the latest bike.

Episode 21 – Ride for Kids Indy

Episode 21 shares our usual motorcycle recalls and then spends time with Rex Harrold, Indiana Task Force Leader for Ride for Kids. We discuss the history of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and the Ride for Kids. Then we discuss the Indianapolis ride which takes place on Sunday September 11th. Find out where the ride is near you and support the kids who have been stricken with this terrible trial. This ran a little long but all the information had to be covered.

The Ride for Kids will be the official Ride of the Motorcycle Nation Podcast. We will be riding next Sunday and will get more involved over the next year behind the scenes. We will still support the Miracle Ride for Riley Hospital as well. Both organizations deserve our help and our family, having a child fighting a brain tumor, is fortunate to have two places to turn to. American Superbike X is a series of candid portraits of the 2010 AMA Pro Racing season by motorsport photographer Dan Lo. The dawn of the post-Mat Mladin/Ben Spies era is documented from the floodlit 69th running of the Daytona 200 to the final rain-drenched laps at Barber Motorsports Park.

Photographer Dan Lo has put together an awesome compilation of some of his best photos. Racing enthusiasts will find this compilation amazing as Dan has proven himself one of the top motorsport photographers around. 2011 Indianapolis Red Bull MotoGP is Here

The weather is sunny and beautiful and the tickets are waiting to be used. Yes, race day has arrived for the 2011 Indy MotoGP and we are getting ready to leave for the track. There are advantages to living in the Indy suburbs like the twenty minute drive to the front gate of the Speedway.

Today we at the Motorcycle Nation Podcast will be rooting for Nicky Hayden first and Ben Spies second. Oh shoot, let’s just go for an All-American podium and throw Colin Edwards in there as well! What is your dream podium for the race today?

If you have kids then you will surely recognize those words from the “Finding Nemo” movie. This picture was taken this past Sunday following a downpour in Indy and, from the looks of it, after the water receded some. The shot was taken by fellow instructor Scott Headley, we prefer instructor to RiderCoach here, while teaching an Experienced Rider Course at ABATE of Indiana’s Downtown Training facility located at Shorewood packaging.

Any time you get a hard downpour, this range will flood right in the staging area and the worst I have seen had us wading through knee deep water to remove training bikes from the area. All we can tell the students in this situation is that we don’t charge them any extra to teach them how to stop with wet brakes!

Indy Mile Canceled

Due to the recent weather tragedy that claimed the lives of six people prior to the Sugarland concert at the Indiana State Fair the Indy Mile Flattrack race has been canceled. The tragedy is still being investigated and up until now the scene has not been cleaned up. The stage lighting and roof structure gave way during high winds and collapsed partially on the very track that the motorcycles would use thus causing the cancellation. Fans can still look forward to the MotoGP race to be held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway but will have to wait another year before seeing those bikes sliding through the turns sideways.
