Temporary Stop Relocation at Southridge Due to Construction Effective 2/6/2012

Effective Monday, February 6, 2012 the current bus stop for Routes 14, 55, 64 and 76 at Southridge will be temporarily relocated due to construction. During this time please board buses at the bus stop to the north end of Sears (upper level). Look for temporary posted signs which indicate the new boarding area.

Route 52 New Evening Service Added Effective 2/2/2012

Effective Thursday, February 2, 2012 evening service will be added to the Route 52 in both directions on weekdays and on weekends. Thank you for your continued patience during this major service change. Please see new trip times below.

Important Message Regarding Route 68 Service

The Route 68 name and number will be retired as of Sunday, January 29, 2012. While service on Green Tree Road, Lake Drive and Brown Deer Road and also on Port Washington Road, between Capitol Drive and Keefe Avenue will be discontinued, the majority of service has been transferred to other routes. Those transferred sections are as follows:
Transferred Segment to Route 63 – on Port Washington Road between Bayshore and Brown Deer Road
Transferred Segment to Route 15 – on Port Washington Road between Capitol Drive and Bayshore

Important Message Regarding Route 18 Service

The Route 18 name and number will be retired as of Sunday, January 29, 2012. While service on 92^nd Street between National Avenue and Greenfield Avenue will be discontinued, the majority of service has been transferred to other routes. Those transferred sections are as follows:
Transferred segment to Route 23 and BlueLine – along 2nd Street and National Avenue from Wisconsin Avenue to 70th Street & Greenfield Avenue
Transferred segment to Route 56 – on Greenfield Avenue between 70th Street to 124th Street
Transferred segment to Route 54 – on National Avenue and Cleveland Avenue between 92nd Street and 108th Street

Important Message Regarding Route 11 Service

The Route 11 name and number will be retired as of Sunday, January 29, 2012. While service on Bolivar, Pine and Layton will be discontinued, the majority of service has been transferred to other routes. Those transferred sections are as follows:

Transferred segment to New Route 56 – on Greenfield Avenue between 1st Street and Miller Park Way
Transferred segment to Route 15 – on Milwaukee Street and Holton Street

Important Information About Holiday Schedules During Christmas and New Years 2011

Because this year Christmas Day and New Years Day fall on Sunday, each holiday will be observed one day later on the Monday of the following week. This means that buses will be running a holiday schedule on Monday, December 26, 2011 and again on Monday, January 2, 2012. Please note that this means there will be no Freeway Flyer service on those days, which includes Route 143.

Route 15 Temporary Detour Due to Parade Effective 11/27/2011

Effective Sunday, November 27, 2011 from approximately 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm Milwaukee Avenue between 12th and 15th Avenues and 15th Avenue between Milwaukee and City Hall will be closed due to the City of South Milwaukee's “Old Fashion Christmas Parade”. Route 15 will detour as follows:

Southbound: From 17th and Milwaukee Ave., west on Milwaukee to Nicholson Ave., south to Manitowoc Ave. east to 15th Ave., and south to regular route.

Routes 10 and 15 Temporarily Detoured Due to Whitefish Bay Holiday Stroll Effective 11/26/2011

Effective Friday, November 25, 2011 from approximately 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Silver Spring Drive, between Lydell and Lake Drive, will be closed due to the Whitefish Bay Holiday Stroll. Routes 10 and 15 will be detoured. Detour routing is as follows:

Northbound: North on Santa Monica to Henry Clay west to Lydell, north to Silver Spring, and west via regular route.
Southbound: East on Silver Spring to Lydell, south to Henry Clay, and east to Santa Monica, south to regular route.

Several Downtown Routes Temporarily Detoured Due to Milwaukee Holiday Parade Effective 11/19/2011

Effective Saturday, November 19, 2011 there will be several downtown detours due to the staging and parade portion of the Milwaukee Holiday Parade. Details are as follows:

From approximately 6:30 AM, the Route 10 will be detoured due to staging. Detour routing is as follows:
ROUTE 10
Eastbound: East on Wisconsin to Van Buren, north on Van Buren to Juneau, east to Astor, and north to regular route.
Westbound: West on State to Jackson, south to Wisconsin, west to regular route.

From approximately 8:40 am until approximately 12:00 pm, the parade route will be closed and the following detour will be effective during that time:

Because UWM will have Final Exams, and both UWM and MATC will be on break for Winter Recess, UBUS service will be altered. Please read carefully:

Several Downtown Routes Temporarily Detoured Due to Veterans Day Parade Effective 11/5/2011

Effective Saturday, November 5, 2011, several downtown routes, including Routes 10, 11, 15, 18, 19, 30, 33 and 57, will detour due to the staging and parade portion of the Milwaukee Veterans Day Parade. Details are as follows:
Staging will take place on Kilbourn Between 6th and Plankinton, 4th Street between State and Wells, Old World Third Street between Kilbourn and State. This detour will begin at 8:00 AM and routing is as follows:
ROUTE 19
Southbound: South to State, west to 6th, south to Wells, east to 2nd, and south to regular route.
Northbound: North to Wisconsin, west to 6th, north to Juneau, east to 3rd, and north to regular route.

ROUTE 33
Eastbound: Continue south on 6th street to Wells, east to 2nd street, south to regular detour route.
Westbound: North to Wisconsin, west to 6th street, north to Juneau, west to regular route.

Effective Wednesday, November 9, 2011 through Saturday, November 12, 2011 between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM each day, or when barricaded, due to construction on the bridge and at the intersection of Erie and Water Street, Water/1st Street will be closed between Pittsburgh and Erie, and the Route 15 will detour as follows:
Northbound: East on Pittsburgh to Broadway/Young to Milwaukee, north to Chicago, west to Water Street, north to regular route.
Southbound: East on Chicago to Milwaukee, south to Young/Broadway, southwest to Pittsburgh to 1st street, south to regular route.

Route 40 Detour Effective 10/3/2011

UPDATE: Effective Monday, November 21, 2011, the SOUTHBOUND detour for Route 40 will end due to the opening of the College Avenue southbound ramp on I-94. The northbound detour is still in effect until further notice.

Effective Monday, October 3, 2011, Route 40 will detour due to the closure of the College Avenue ramps to I-43/I-94. Once construction has started, buses will detour as follows:
Northbound:
From College Avenue Park-Ride lot east on College Avenue to 13^th Street, south on 13^th Street to Rawson Avenue, west on Rawson Avenue and to northbound I-94 and to regular route.

Southbound:
From I-43/I-94 to Howard Avenue Exit, west on Howard Avenue to 13^th Street, south on 13^th Street to College Avenue, east on College Avenue to College Avenue Park-Ride Lot.

Additionally, to ease congestion during construction, extra funds have been made available to add three extra trips, one AM and two PM trips, to the existing Route 40 schedule. New schedules reflecting these changes will be available on board buses and online at RideMCTS.com starting Monday, October 3, 2011. The additional trip times are as follows:

Wisconsin Avenue Routes to Detour During Long Term Construction Effective 10/3/2011

Effective Monday, October 3, 2011, Routes 10, 12, 14, 30, 31, 40, 43, 44, 46, 48, 49, 79, 90, 137 and 143 will be detoured off of Wisconsin Avenue

between 2nd Street and Broadway Street due to construction on the Wisconsin Avenue Bridge. Routes traveling both eastbound and westbound will be detoured . To reduce congestion, routes will be taking two different detours with Routes 12, 14, 31, 40, 43, 46, 48 and 137 traveling via Michigan Street and Routes 10, 30, 44, 49, 79, 90 and 143 traveling via Wells Street and Kilbourn Avenue. Route 76 Temporary Detour 76 Street Trips Only Effective 9/3/2011

Saturday, September 3, 2011, starting at approximately 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, 76th Street will be closed between Madison and Orchard and the Route 76, (VIA 76TH STREET TRIPS ONLY), will detour as follows:

Route 76 Detour 68 Street Trips Only Effective 8/30/2011

Due to construction on 70th Street between Main Street and Adler, the Route 76 Via 68th street trips ONLY will detour as follows:
Northbound: Continue north on 70th street to Kearney, east to 68th street , north to regular route.
Southbound: West on O’Connor to 70th Street, south to regular route.

Temporary Wisconsin Avenue Detour Effective 8/23/2011

Effective Tuesday, August 23, 2011, from approximatley 4 am until 6 am, Wisconsin Avenue will be closed over the Milwaukee River for an inspection. At that time all routes on Wisconsin Avenue will use alternative routing. The detour routing is as follows:

Eastbound: East on Wisconsin Avenue tp 2nd Street, 2nd Street to Michigan, Michigan to Broadway, Broadway to Wisconsin Avneue and to regular routing.

Westbound: West on Wisconsin Avenue to Broadway, Broadway to Michican, Michigan to Plankinton, Plankinton to Wisconsin Avenue and to regular routing.

Important Message on Route 44 Service During State Fair August 4-14th

For those passengers who use Route 44 weekday service during the Wisconsin State Fair August 4-14^th, the State Fair Park-Ride Lot will not be available for use. New for 2011, alternative parking will be available on the north side ONLY of O’Conner Street, east of 76^th Street.

Passengers will still catch the Route 44 in the AM at the State Fair Park-Ride lot shelter. During the PM, a temporary bus stop at O’Conner Street and 75^th Street will be served to assist passengers during this time.

During the fair, please follow all parking restrictions in the area to avoid ticketing.

On Sunday July 24, 2011 Routes 10 & 15 will be detoured due to the Whitefish Bay Classic Bike Race. Details are as follows:

Special Message About July 4th Holiday and Weekend Service

Please note that Fourth of July will be observed on Monday, July 4th, 2011 which means all MCTS routes will be running a Holiday/Sunday schedule. Additionally, this means there will be no Freeway Flyer service on that day. This also includes all Summerfest service, as the festival will not be open on July 4th.

Also, please be advised that due to a number of parades and other holiday festivities in the area, buses may be delayed during the holiday weekend and also on the 4th. We appreciate you patience and we thank you for riding with us.

Route 18 Detour Due to Event Effective 6/5/2011

Effective Sunday, June 5, 2011 from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm, or when barricaded, Route 18 will detour off of Greenfield between 70th Street and 76th Street due to Greenfield being closed for the West Allis Ala Carte event. The detour as follows:

Route 44 Temporary Service Change Due to State Fair Effective 8/5/2010

For those passengers who use Rt. 44 weekday service during the Wisconsin State Fair, August 5 - August 15, the State Fair Park-Ride Lot will not be available for use. However, MCTS will provide regular Freeway Flyer service and unrestricted parking will be available on ONLY the EAST SIDE of 84th Street from Honey Creek Parkway to Hill Street. Please observe any parking restriction signs on the east side of 84th Street. PLEASE NOTE: DO NOT PARK ON THE WEST SIDE OF 84TH STREET BECAUSE IT MAY RESULT IN YOU RECEIVING A PARKING TICKET.
During this time a shuttle bus will make stops southbound on 84th Street from Hill Street to Kearney Street each morning to shuttle riders to the State Fair Park-Ride Lot bus shelter where Route 44 can be picked up. The shuttle bus will leave Hill Street approximately five minutes prior to the scheduled arrival time of Route 44.For return trips, passengers should get off the Flyer at 68th Street and O’Connor where the shuttle will be waiting to return riders to their parked vehicles. There is no fare to ride the shuttle, regular fares apply for Route 44.
