According to confirmed reports, “The Ultimate Fighter: Live” coach and UFC bantamweight champion, Dominick Cruz has been pulled from his trilogy fight with Urijah Faber due to a torn ACL suffered in practice.

Shortly after UFC president Dana White announced the news via Twitter, Cruz also took to the social media tool to confirm the injury. “It’s true, Cruz blew his ACL,” White Tweeted Monday afternoon. The following message was posted on Cruz’s Twitter account (@TheDomin8r) shortly thereafter:

“Im bummed people,Thanx 4 the support as i battle this, big sorry to all the fans out there!I WILL recover n I WILL b back 2put on a show!”

The rubber match between these two former WEC rivals was scheduled to take place at UFC 148 on July 7, on the same night that Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen battle it out for UFC middleweight supremacy for a second time.

UFC 148 is slated to take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, and not in Brazil as it was previously announced. According to the UFC boss, as of right now, it is uncertain when “The Dominator” will return to the Octagon or if Faber will fight someone in the meantime. The only thing that he did encourage MMA fans to do was “stay tuned for more info.”

Cruz is expected to continue coaching in the ongoing season of TUF Live, but there’s no timetable for his return as of yet. The only loss of his career came at the hands of Faber at WEC 26. Since then, Cruz has stringed together a 10-fight win streak, which includes winning the rematch (unanimous decision) over the California Kid at UFC 132 in July of last year.

(14-1-0, UFC: 8-0) Junior dos Santos is ready to make his first title defense as he faces former Strikeforce, Dream and K-1 champion, (36-11-1, UFC: 1-0) Alistair Overeem at UFC 146 on Saturday, May 26, 2012.

The MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, will be the site for this historic event, which MMAIntel.com will be covering from all possible angles. But the Dos Santos vs Overeem standup battle for the title is just one of the many must-see bouts at UFC 146!

Also in action will be the No.3 and No.4 ranked heavyweights in the world, as (9-1-0, UFC: 7-1) Cain Velazquez looks put himself in position to regain his title against another former UFC champ in (16-5-0UFC: 14-5) Frank Mir. Coming off his second “Submission of the Year” performance against Minotauro, Mir is riding a three-fight win streak into this No.1 contenders’ bout with Velazquez.

It seems like it was light-years ago that the UFC’s heavyweight division was its weakest of them all. Today, the heavyweights are bigger, stronger and faster than ever before! But the best part of it all is that this weight class is expanding as we speak!

As a result, the Ultimate Fighting Championship decided to dedicate an entire fight card to the monsters of the sport, as for the first time ever, we will see the top four guys in action on the same night! Check out the entire UFC 146 Fight Card and don’t miss the UFC 146: Dos Santos vs Overeem Fight Press Conference Live at 2 PM ET (1 PM CT/11 AM PT) right here on MMAIntel.com!!!

The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s return to Australia promises to be filled with speed, power and unlimited action. The debut of the UFC’s flyweight division should add a positive new wrinkle to the organization, especially considering the little guys always put on great shows and action-packed fights.

The new flyweight class is also a good addition, because it allows smaller guys — that would normally be forced to fight at 145 — to compete at a more natural weight. Given that there are so many 145-pounders currently on the UFC roster sharing this problem, this move makes a lot of business sense.

But let’s be honest here, the best part about adding of a whole new weight class to the UFC is the fact that we’ll get to see some free fights! And in order to establish the 125-pound division, a champion must be crowned, of course — unlike what they did with Jose Aldo.

To do so, the UFC has decided to implement a 4-man tournament format with the last man standing being crowned the 125-pound champ. It’s worth noting that this will be the first ever tournament under the Zuffa banner. It’s going to be interesting to see how well Dana White and the Fertittas handle one of the original practices employed by the MMA organization.

The UFC flyweight tourney gets underway this upcoming Friday night with four bouts broadcasted live on FX. Competing in the first round of the UFC flyweight tournament will be some of the best in the world:

(14-2-0) Demetrious Johnson [USA] vs. (11-2-0) Ian McCall [USA]

(15-2-0) Joseph Benavidez [USA] vs. (19-4-6) Yasuhiro Urushitani [Japan]

UFC on FX 2 gets underway with “UFC: Alves vs Kampmann Prelims” on FUEL TV from 6-9 PM ET, followed by the UFC on FX 2 Main Card airing live from 9-11 PM ET UFC on FX 2. Allphones Arena in Sydney, Australia, will be the site for this exciting event. The Main Event will be one that could catapult one of these guys to earn a shot at interim UFC welterweight champion, Carlos Condit, as:

(19-8-0) Thiago Alves [Brazil] vs. (18-5-0) Martin Kampmann [Denmark]

Of course, we cannot have an MMA event without the weigh-ins! Luckily for you, MMAIntel.com is the best place to catch the live stream of the official UFC on FX 2 Weigh-Ins beginning at 10 PM ET (9 PM CT/7 PM PT)! Check out the complete UFC on FX 2 Fight Card:

Today, FOX-network officials announced the names of the 32 lightweights that will be competing for the lucrative 6-figure UFC contract and the right to be called The Next Ultimate Fighter!

“TUF 15: Live” is scheduled to kickoff Friday, March 9th 2012 with 16 live elimination bouts, and as usual, only the winners will become official cast members. The very first episode will be a two-and-a-half-hour show beginning at 9 PM ET, but the remainder of the show will air at 10 PM ET (*It’s worth noting that a delayed version of the live portion of the show will air for those on the West Coast*).

“We’re producing groundbreaking television with ‘The Ultimate Fighter Live,’ and we can’t wait to kick this season off with FX,” UFC President Dana White said in a press release. “It’s going to be can’t-miss TV.”

Unlike past seasons, TUF 15 will be shot over a period of thirteen weeks, with each fight being filmed and edited the week right before each episode airs. The coaches will be reining UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz and No.1 contender Urijah Faber.

“Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber are two amazing guys who also happen to be two of the best fighters in the world,” White added. “They genuinely dislike each other, and I expect this to make for the best season yet.”

The TUF 15 Finale takes place on Friday, June 1st 2012 and these bitter rivals will meet shortly thereafter in what should be a highly entertaining rubber match, with the 135-pound title on the line. UFC 148: Faber vs Cruz is expected to take place on Saturday July 7, 2012, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“The belt’s one thing, but the other thing is people have the idea that Dominick’s the best guy out there. He’s not tougher than I am, I know that,” said The California Kid. “I don’t feel that he proved that he was, and I can’t wait to get in there and fight again for the belt and show everyone who the man is.”

Here’s the complete 32-fighter list for TUF 15 announced by FX:

Dana White’s UFC 144 Video Blog gives MMA fans a good perspective of what happens behind the scenes, especially during fight week in a unique place like Tokyo.

In this particular Vlog, you see the UFC president interacting with various fighters including Quinton “Rampage” Jackson who happened to miss weight by a whopping 5 pounds. Rampage would go on to lose to Ryan Bader by unanimous decision after re-injuring his knee during the fight.

I find it funny that the first thing White does in the Vlog is tap Rampage’s belly and asks him what his weight is! It’s almost like he knew there was no way this guy was going to make weight in time for the fight, but plays it off, nonetheless.

It’s also interesting to hear that Rampage’s kids actually speak fluent Japanese given that his wife, Yuki is from the Land of the Rising Sun. Jackson has four kids: D’Angelo and Raja — from previous relationships — and Elijah and Naname Nakia Jackson with his current wife. All three boys have the middle name “Rampage”, while the girl was named “Page”.

“I wanna stay here for like a year and learn the language, cause my kids be talking s*** about me, man,” he tells Dana. “You know my two younger kids are Japanese. Yeah, they’re fluent and they talk s*** about me right in front of my face, man! I just wanna learn just so I can s*** right back to them!”

A seven-fight pay-per-view card was assembled for the first ever, with some of the greatest names in the sport today, competing in one of the most historical venues in MMA history.

In the end, we saw a new UFC lightweight champion crowned as Benson Henderson defeated Frankie Edgar by unanimous decision, but not without controversy.

“I don’t wanna take anything away from Ben. He did a good job, but I do feel I won that fight,” Edgar said. “He came hard, I knew it was gonna be a tough fight but I thought I did enough to win those rounds.”

In the co-main event, Ryan Bader spoiled Rampage Jackson’s return to the Land of the Rising Sun, dominating him for most of the fight, on his way to a unanimous decision victory.

“If I’m gonna to be critically honest, I’m not surprised I lost that fight,” said Rampage in his post-fight presser. “I almost didn’t make it to the fight but I didn’t wanna pull out for the Japanese fans. I injured my knee pretty bad and my doctor told me not to fight. But, it wasn’t real serious, I didn’t need surgery or nothing, but he told me it wasn’t a good idea to fight. I decided to fight anyway and I reinjured the knee when Bader slammed me.”

In other action: Mark Hunt defeated Cheick Kongo via first round TKO, Jake Shields grinded out a unanimous decision over Yoshihiro Akiyama, Tim Boetsch mounted a furious comeback and knocked out Yushin Okami and Anthony Pettis knocked out Joe Lauzon with a brutal head-kick in very first round.

As far as the fight bonuses go, Fight of the Night went to Edgar vs Henderson, Knockout of the Night went to Pettis, and England’s Vaughan Lee was awarded with Submission of the Night. Each fighter cashed in with an extra $65k for their efforts.

Like most decisions these days, there was some controversy as far as how the judges scored the main event – 49-46, 48-47, 49-46 — which many thought would lead to an immediate rematch between “Smooth” and the “Answer”. However, the UFC didn’t quite see it that way, as it appears Showtime will be next in line at a title shot.

Pettis was the last man to defeat Henderson when the two faced off at WEC 53 for the belt back in December of 2010. Highlighted by the kick heard around the world, Pettis believes he will be the next 155-pound king. After disposing of J-Lau in spectacular fashion, the last WEC champ ever, believes Henderson will be a one-hit wonder in the UFC.

“I’m the last to beat him, so it makes sense for us to have a rematch,” he said of Henderson. “I’m the last guy to beat him in the WEC, took his belt there and looks like I’m bound to do it again.”

But the loss actually motivated Bendo to evolve and improve as a fighter, evidenced by the fact that he has gone 4-0 since then, with all og his victories coming against UFC talent. There’s no question that a rematch with Pettis makes complete sense from a financial, as well as a competitive standpoint. These guys are two of the most athletically-gifted fighters in the division and the fact that they have history already certainly doesn’t hurt the marketing aspect.

For Pettis, this would be a perfect time to show the world that, like Henderson (4-0 in the UFC), he has also become a better fighter since their first encounter. Unlike the newly crowned champ, Pettis hasn’t been able to duplicate the success he enjoyed in the WEC since the merge. After last night’s win over Louzan, Showtime is now just 2-1 in the UFC, losing to Clay Guida before earning a Split Decision over Jeremy Stephens at UFC 136 last October.

“It really doesn’t matter to me. I wanna defend it, however many times Anderson Silva defends his, plus one,” said a late-arriving Bendo when asked who he preferred to fight next. “So, who ever happens to be, whether it’s Frankie again, I’m down for that. Anthony Pettis, I see you doing big things, making waves, great fighter! Very spectacular! If it happens to be Anthony, so be it. Whatever it is, I’m okay with it.”

As far as Edgar goes, the UFC will surely persuade him to move down to Featherweight and challenge reigning champion, Jose Aldo. When asked about it after his fight, Edgar didn’t seem too excited about the idea, but that could change in the near future.

“Yeah, I don’t know, that’s not something I’m thinking about right now, to be honest with you,” Edgar said.

For years, Aldo has been highly regarded among the top-5 best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, not to mention the fact that he’s unbeaten in 14 encounters. With no one else to challenge him at 145, an Edgar vs Aldo megafight is certainly a very interesting matchup for UFC fans.

Stylistically, the bout may favor the American because of his boxing, wrestling, heart, and ironically his size, believe it or not. One has to believe that Edgar, who would actually be a big, powerful Featherweight, could present a lot of problems for Junior should this fight happen in 2012. Not only do I believe it will, I think it must!

Other UFC 144 Results include:

Hatsu Hioki defeated Bart Palaszewski by unanimous decision

Takanori Gomi TKO’d Eiji Mitsuoka at 2:21 of Round 2

Vaughan Lee Submitted Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto by Round 1 Armbar

Anticipating such complications, event organizers decided to host UFC 144 at a time MMA fans are used to watching in the States. To make the transition easier for U.S. pay-per-view buyers, UFC 144 will take place this Saturday night live from Saitama Super Arena in Japan, which would, of course, mean Sunday morning for those in the Land of the Rising Sun.

So, here’s the official schedule: UFC 144 Main Card (PPV) will start at the usual 10 PM ET (7 PM PT) time, the UFC 144 preliminaries will get underway at 8 PM (5 PM PT) on FX, and the lone Facebook bout will start at 7:30 PM ET (4:30 PM PT) on FB.

This past Wednesday, the UFC hosted its UFC 144 pre-fight press conference featuring all the big names involved in the stacked 7-fight UFC 144 Main Card. Without further ado, here’s the entire UFC 144 Fight Card along with a live version of the UFC 144 pre-fight press conference!

Public feuds between MMA companies and boxing promoters regarding skill-sets are just some examples in which the two combat sports have bumped heads in the past. We can now a new wrinkle to this developing saga, as UFC president Dana White recently called Floyd Mayweather Jr. a “racist”.

Ripping the reigning WBC welterweight champion for his remarks regarding New York Knicks overnight star, Jeremy Lin, White went off in true Dana White style. Airing last night on FUEL TV’s “UFC Tonight” show in a segment titled “Presidential Address”, White rips Mayweather for his Twitter comments on Lin, among other things.

“First of all, what he said I think was racist. He’s made a couple of racist comments and, yes, Floyd, you’re racist with the stuff that you’ve said,” he said. “First of all, Jeremy Lin gets all of this credit because he’s an Asian player in the NBA that African Americans never get? Yeah. He’s getting all this praise because he’s an Asian guy playing in the NBA.

“You say that African Americans don’t get it? Really, Kobe Bryant doesn’t get any praise? Michael Jordan never got any praise? The list goes on and on of the guys who completely get praised for being great NBA basketball players. Not only can he compete and make it in the NBA, the guy is tearing it up and is breaking records, you knucklehead. OK?”

But the UFC boss didn’t stop there in stating his case for Mayweather being a racist. Referring back to the chauvinistic, homophobic comments Pretty Boy Floyd made about Manny Pacquiao in late 2010, White sounded off again.

“You said Manny Pacquiao should go make some sushi somewhere… sushi is from Japan… he’s from the Philippines, dummy! Don’t worry about what all these other guys are doing and shooting your big mouth off on Twitter,” White continued. “What you should worry about is getting in there and making the fight that all the boxing fans want to see.

“Get in there and fight Manny Pacquiao. You don’t deserve more of the purse. If ever there were a fight in history that should be split 50/50, it’s the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight. Shut up! Both of you split the money up and put on the fight that everybody, including me, wants to see.

“Yes, I run the UFC and all this stuff. I’m a boxing fan and I want to see this fight, too. I know that I speak for millions and millions of other people. Shut up and make the fight, Floyd.”

But as we all know, Mayweather and his people aren’t really the ones to take the high road when it comes to these types of confrontations. And as we also all know, news travel very fast in this industry. What White’s comments have done is set off a back-and-forth between the two sides worthy of national attention… or perhaps Jerry Springer:

“He needs to shut the [expletive] up and mind his own business, stay in his own lane and keep on taking advantage of the UFC fighters, while underpaying them,” said Mayweather’s manager, Leonard Ellerbe in response. “If he keeps on running his mouth, we may decide to give a free seminar to all of the UFC fighters on how the pay-per-view revenue should be distributed. This is typical Dana, who is always prone to ignorant outbursts. He should be the last person to try to judge someone else.”

Didn’t I say this was a back-and-fourth? Well, here’s Dana’s reply to Ellerbe’s rebuttal!

“Just for the record, shut the [expletive] up! I wasn’t talking to you,” said the former boxing manager via text. “I was talking to Floyd. We’re doing something amazing. We’re building a sport while you guys are destroying one.”

The bad blood between former UFC light heavyweight champion, (17-1-1) “Suga” Rashad Evans and reigning 205-pound king, (16-1-0) Jon “Bones” Jones has been well documented, which makes for a very entertaining pre-fight press conference!

The UFC and its marketing team are very well aware of this, and thus, decided to put Jones and Evans in the same room to begin hyping one of the most anticipated bouts in MMA history!

UFC 145: Jones vs. Evans is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, live on Pay-Per-View.

It’s almost hard to believe that after years of schedule complications and unexpected injuries, these former sparring/training partners will settle their score once and for all. This event was initially slated to take place at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on March 24, 2012.

When the UFC was forced to cancel the show, UFC 146 in Atlanta, became UFC 145, and all the fights on the Montreal card were transferred over to this one — hence, the reason why you’ll find so many Canadians fighting in this card.

Without further ado, here’s how the full fight card for UFC 145 stacks up, and don’t miss the UFC 145 Pre-fight Press Conference between Evans and Jones: UFC 145 Main Card (PPV):

Jon Jones vs. Rashad Evans (UFC light heavyweight championship bout)

Rory MacDonald vs. Che Mills (welterweight bout)

Brendan Schaub vs. Ben Rothwell (heavyweight bout)

Mark Bocek vs. Matt Wiman (lightweight bout)

UFC 145 Preliminary Card (FX):

Miguel Torres vs. Michael McDonald (bantamweight bout)

Keith Wisniewski vs. Chris Clements (welterweight bout)

Marcus Brimage vs. Maximo Blanco (featherweight bout)
