Fique ligado.

RILEY PEQUIN VS. BRENT AUGER – TITLE FIGHT Headlining the amateur fights will be two middleweight MMA fighters who definitely take pride in what they are doing. Brent Auger is prepared to enter the cage for the fifth time this year! Not often will you see a fighter accept a match just a month after their previous bout. This just goes to show the dedication, determination, and drive these fighters will go to prove themselves. Riley Pequin made his debut as an amateur fighter near the beginning of 2014 when he stopped his opponent by TKO in the first round. Pequin is a local fighting out of Calgary, Alberta and will enter HK 39 with a 1-0-0 record. Brent Auger brings a three fight winning streak into HK 39. Auger will be fighting out of Grande Prairie, Alberta and has a record of 3-1-0 with one win by TKO, one win by submission, and one win by decision. It won’t be long before either one of these fighters gets called up to the pro ranks, and a win here could all but guarantee it. This fight will be the perfect conclusion to an extremely talented Amateur lineup. Pequin could try swinging for the fences in this one to combat Auger’s skilled wrestling and ground game. These fighters are going to do anything in an effort to keep their winning streaks going so we recommend getting your tickets to HK 39 now while supplies last!

KARA KIRSH VS. KATIE HOWARD Hard Knocks Fighting knows how to start a thrilling card of professional fights the honourable way, by allowing ladies to fight first! If you think these mixed martial artists do not train for a fight every bit as hard as men do, then you are only fooling yourself. These two fighters have earned their way into the professional ranks just like anybody else. Fighting out of Toronto, Ontario is Kara Kirsh with a professional record of 1-1-0. Although Kirsh narrowly lost her last fight by decision just about a year ago, she won her debut fight in 2012 via submission in the third round. Fighting out of Portland, Oregon will be Katie Howard who is no stranger to the cage and will enter HK 39 with a 3-3-0 record. Howard lost her last fight just about a month ago by a second round submission. Of her three wins, two of them were by decision and she submitted one opponent in the second round by rear naked choke.
When Opportunity Knocks, Gaston Reyno Answers

Titan Fighting Championship will host its 28th event this coming Friday, May 16 in Newkirk Oklahoma. This will be the second Titan FC card to be televised on CBS Sports Network. A vast amount of exciting fighters will be competing for the promotion including the likes of D.J. Linderman, Brock Jardine, Dave Herman and Jason Brilz. But there’s also another name that should be considered on that list, Gaston Reyno. Reyno is a skilled fighter coming off of a very successful amateur career. A native of Uruguay with a diverse background in martial arts, he looks to turn some heads in his pro debut for Titan FC. The skies the limit for this young prospect of the sport and Friday will show just what we can expect from him in the future. Reyno takes on David Nelson who holds a record of 1-1. The fight will serve as one of several prelims that can be seen on CBSSports.com .

Tell us a little about your background and what got you started with martial arts.

I started martial arts when I was 7 in 1994 with Tae Kwon Do. Then when I was 16 I moved to kickboxing. At 17 I had my first fight in Muay Thai and then I moved to Jiu Jitsu. About one and a half years ago I came for a couple of weeks to train with the Grindhouse (MMA) team in Missouri and I fell in love with the team, their like family. From there I went 100% MMA.

You’ve had an extremely successful amateur career, what would you say has allowed you to get off to such a great start?

I think that more than the results, I have a lot of success when I train. You can be 15-0, you can be 20-0 but if you don’t have the correct team you will always be an amateur fighter. (But) my goal is to not just be the best one on my team but to be the best one in the world. I don’t care so much about the record, sometimes I see guys who are like 34-0 and people say ‘wow’ but they are really not that very good. For me the best thing is being with a good team and getting better every day.

Now what’s it like being able to surround yourself with such great fighters?

For me it only makes sense. They’re not only great fighters but also great people. I work with too many different teams all around the world; I worked in Scotland, China, Uruguay, France… when you have such a high level of fighters they usually do not care about the new guy. But that doesn’t happen here (Grindhouse MMA), every person is important. Even the guys that don’t fight and just want to lose weight, everybody is the same when practicing martial arts. That’s the great thing about it.

What’s it like for you to be fighting in and around Kansas City, a place that has produced some tough, well known fighters as of recent?

It is great. I love it very much. I haven’t been here very long but I can see that this area lives and breathes MMA. There’s events every single weekend and I’m also excited to go to Oklahoma (where Gaston is making his Titan FC debut), I’ve never been there.

What was your initial reaction after signing with Titan Fighting Championship?

Well first off I was born ready. Signing with Titan or any other organization is not a big deal to me. If in 3 fights I sign with the UFC I promise that would not be a big deal to me either. I use every single day to try and get better. I try to be better than the last day. If I fight in Titan good, if I fight in the UFC good but it is the same to me. Now when I say that it doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate the opportunity in front of me. I saw Titan FC before when I was coaching the last time in Kansas City and I was in love with the place that hosted the event and the people in the crowd and I said ‘I really hope one day I can fight here’. That was 2 months ago and now I’m going to fight, I’m super excited.

When it comes to your past fights you have had a killer instinct, what will it take for you to keep that going at Titan Fighting Championship 28?

It’s my life. I’ve fought this way all of my life. To even have the opportunity to fight is a dream, I couldn’t even speak English when I first got here and now I’m in this situation. This guy (David Nelson) is going to try and take my dream, I would never, never let him do that. This is my dream and I want to keep it alive.

You’re taking on David Nelson, have you created a specific game plan or are you the type of fighter to react as the fight goes?

I follow everything that my corner says. They know a lot about this guy and they made the game plan so I will do exactly what they want. At the same time this is a huge opportunity for me so I personally want a TKO and I will definitely look for that in the fight

What is your final message for your opponent before the cage doors lock and you settle things on May 16?

Thank you for the opportunity, without him I wouldn’t have a fight so I thank him for taking the fight. I will try to take him out as soon as the bell rings and then afterwards we can be friends.

SUPERKOMBAT® World Grand Prix – Final: Official Results

SUPERKOMBAT® World Grand Prix – Final, held in Galati, Romania, was a huge success. Benjamin Adegbuyi shocked the audience and won the rematch over Pavel Zhuravlev, Andrei Stoica and Igor Bugaenko captured the SUPERKOMBAT® titles.

Due the humanitarian campaign initiated by SUPERKOMBAT®, all the incomes from the tickets sales were donated to the flood victims of Galati.

In one of the most exciting fights of the year, Benjamin Adegbuyi won the rematch with Pavel Zhuravlev, SUPERKOMBAT® champion of 2012 tournament and Legend champion. Benjamin Adegbuyi landed powerfull left hooks, Zhuravlev being counted twice in the end of the first two rounds. A KO artist, Benjamin Adegbuyi managed his 15th win of his career with a perfect right hook after 0:35 of third round. “Outside the ring we are friends, Pavel Zhuravlev is one of the best fighters in the world, but I was better this night. I was preparing this rematch since last year so I’m happy because I ended an amazing season with another big success. Next year I want to win the final tournament of SUPERKOMBAT®”, said Benjamin Adegbuyi, who won this year also against the K-1® World Grand Prix – Final runner-up Ismael Londt.

Back in the ring at SUPERKOMBAT® World Grand Prix – Final Elimination, Raul “Iron” Catinas impressed again with another brutal KO this time against one of the greatest brawlers in the world, Paul “The Sting” Slowinski. With a sustained offensive and aggressive style, Raul Catinas mixed his uppercut shots with left hook and in at the end of the third round he knocked-out Paul Slowinski, after he was counted two times before. “I’m not 100% myself in this moment, but I promise you that in 2014 will be my year”, declared Raul Catinas in an interview for Samuel Pagal of Eurosport.

For 15 minutes, Stoica brothers entered the history of the professional kickboxing as the first brothers with world titles belts. Former world-muay thai champion risked everything in the last round, but Stoica blocked the shots and was declared the winner by unanimous decision. This was the first defeat of Hutnik since march 2008 after serie of 29 wins in a row.

The official challenger for the cruiserweight title of Bogdan Stoica, Igor Bugaenko dominate the fight and he became the new SUPERKOMBAT® cruiserweight champion after all three judges took a unanimous decision for him: 30-28, 30-29 and 30-28. Shortly after the fight, Stoica announced he wants the rematch. “It’s the most beautiful day in my career, Bogdan Stoica wasn’t expecting of me to block his flying knees. I’m ready for any fight now, including a rematch with him”, said Igor Bugaenko who scored his 51 succes of his career.

In the entertainment fight of the night, Alexandru Lungu (165 kg) knocked-out Mike Bourke in the first round after a vicious right hook and the local star of Galati, Alexandru Nedelcu, won by KO in the second round with a spectacular high-kick over Mohammed El Boulahiati.

Frank Munoz became the third SUPERKOMBAT® World Grand Prix champion, after Sergey Laschenko and Pavel Zhuravlev, winning the final tournament of 2013. “I can’t believe, I’m extremely happy, I can’t describe with words what I feel now. I had a great day. Two powerfull opponents. Even if Redouan Cairo is my gym colleague, both of us tried to win this final, but I was better”, declared Frank Munoz, which who was greeted by dozens of fans at on his comeback in Spain.
