The Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act requires two reports to Congress about Tribal transportation safety. Your participation is sought in a survey developed to gather information for these reports which may influence future federal programs.

The Tribal Technical Assistance Program is part of a nationwide effort sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The intention of TTAP is to relate the latest technology and information on tribal roads and bridges, tourism and recreation, and related economic development to tribal transportation and planning personnel. TTAP provides technology transfer through training workshops, a quarterly newsletter, and the operation of free publication and videotape training libraries.

The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) is now soliciting applications for the Fostering Advancements in Shipping and Transportation for the Long-term Achievement of National Efficiencies (FASTLANE) Grants. FASTLANE Grants, authorized under the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act’s Nationally Significant Freight and Highway Projects program, will fund critical freight and highway projects across the country. The FAST Act authorizes $800 million in funding for FASTLANE Grants for fiscal year 2016, with at least 25 percent reserved for rural projects, and ten percent for small projects that do not meet statutory minimum project size requirements. Prospective applicants are encouraged to look through the full Notice of Funding Opportunity. Applications are due by 8:00 PM EDT on April 14, 2016.

The Nationally Significant Freight and Highway Projects (NSFHP) program, established under the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act (FAST Act), Pub. L 114-94, section 1105 (23 U.S.C. 117), will provide Federal financial assistance to projects of national or regional significance. The NSFHP program is authorized at $4.5 billion for fiscal years (FY) 2016 through 2020, including $800 million for FY 2016. Later this month, the Department will issue a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) soliciting applications for FY 2016.
