Hey guys, I'm wondering if there is a chance to get a near new or new MacBook White, the poly version which was made until 2009. I had one before but I threw it out and now I'm getting really sentimental about it. I love that thing and the design, it's a CLASSIC! I have a couple of MacBooks now but I still want that one as a collectors item. Only problem is most used ones I see are badly worn, have hardware issues or both. I guess that's inevitable with use and age. My question is, is there anywhere I haven't looked which maybe has "collectors" MacBook Whites?

I'm on an extremely limited budget, but need the capability to run all current software including Avid Pro Tools 10.

I'm basically willing to look as far back as the first Intel machines that meet my needs. I'll get the nicest one I can afford obviously, but I'm talking <$500 used market.

Any do's and don't's as far as lemons, reliability, stability, up-to-date-ness?

Thanks!

First and foremost, i in no way have a affiliation with this, BUT i do think its the coolest thing since Kool Aide.
The idea, is to draw a 5 Level game on special gridded paper. Take a picture of it and with the iPhone/iPad/Mini. The App magically turns it into a game for you to play. After testing, you go ahead and design it the way you want it to look.
This is called Pixel Press and you can check it out on KickStarter Pixel Press: Draw Your Own Video Game by Robin @ Roundthird — Kickstarter.

This is such a brilliant concept and who knows where it will go. Updates there will be monsters, enemies and so on.
I have backed this as a Beta Tester and my 9 yr old son is drawing up his game, but i thought i would share, because i now there would be a lot out there that like the old Pixel Games and have the option to make your own and upload it to the website (just like they do in mine craft) and have others download it, comment, and play your game is thrilling.

Well really i backed it for my son, as he is good with Mac's and wants to make his own games and this may be the stepping stone he needs for a kick lol

Anyway, have a look at the video at the top of the page, and that explains everything.
Hope you enjoy, and even give a bloke a break and a Startup that he might need :)

I fired up Windows 7 in VirtualBox for the first time in a couple months or more, and quickly found out my browser searches had been hijacked. This despite having ClamWin installed and I always update it any time I run VBox (which is pretty rare). I finally was able to get a tool downloaded from Kaspersky and it found a virus. Cleaning that cured the problem.

What's baffling is HOW I even got a virus. The only thing I use VBox for is a couple games, and I have clean installers of my own for those. Also a couple media tools, all of which are clean. Java was a bit outdated... I may have been victimized by one of those recent vulnerabilities, though how I could have been is baffling also. *shakes head* No wonder I ditched that walking disaster of an OS.

So if you read what experts say we are approaching the post-pc era. In this new time computer users will access their adobe, auto cad, office type products etc via the web. I can only assume that this will catch on because Google, Microsoft, Adobe etc will offer cheaper prices starting out and people will be able to spend less on their computer making the initial investment much lower. I do not have heavy computing needs, I do research and like to open many browser tabs and run multiple programs on two monitors. A little much for my mbp but not terrible. I am against the new computing age. I don't like the idea of having an underpowered chromebook style computer. I guess I'm old-fashioned, I want a badass computer and to own my own content. Anyone else with me? I wish for a new mac pro even though the need for it may be non-existent in two years.

I'm on this kick for trying out new beers and thought this would be a good thread start and see what others like. I'm not talking about the typical US domestic swill here. I'll start off with some of my favorites.

Young's Double Chocolate Stout.
This is a pretty good dark beer that was in my top 3 list for a few years now until recently.

Crooked Line Oak Jacked Pumpkin Ale.
I love pumpkin anything (bread, muffins, pies, you name it) and have long looked forward to a good pumpkin ale when fall rolls around. I first discovered this a few months ago and it is one of the tastiest pumpkin ales ever made. It has a strong taste of honey to it and is aged in oak barrels. which adds to the flavor. It's truly amazing.

New Belgium Imperial Coffee Stout
I first tried this a few months ago also on the recommendation of a co-worker. I'd already developed a taste for coffee stouts, thanks to one that Sam Adams put out a couple years ago, and to another by Kona Brewing. This one makes those look like tap water.

Hoppin' Frog B.O.R.I.S. The Crusher Oatmeal Imperial Stout
This is currently my favorite. By far. No contest at all. I like oatmeal stouts (Sam Smith comes to mind) but this is a whole new level of deliciousness. It's aged in whiskey barrels, and you can taste the hint of whiskey in this beer. I HIGHLY recommend it. It has won a couple awards, and it totally deserved them.

Uinta Dubhe
This is a dark IPA brewed with hemp seed. I don't normally like bitter beers, but this one is pretty good once you get past that.
