Due to it not connecting to wifi, I was told to restore my iphone 4s. I did this tonight after being assured certain apps would not disappear but they did.

The instagram app, the ibg star app and many others were completely deleted along with their info apparently.

I'm getting a new phone tomorrow and I wonder how I can get these back on my phone. Is my instagram account still there? Will I be able to see all my photos and followers/followees etc? I have an online instagram also which shows all my photos but I can't tell from there what to do with regards to this.

Are all of my blood glucose records now gone forever? I spoke with someone at sanofi today who said they would be stored in an itunes back up.

Someone at apple care told me to back up to icloud as well, but I wasn't able to do that due to not being able to set up an icloud account email from my phone due to no wifi. I only use free wifi, no data package.

I'm not sure what to do now? Can you help me?

I'm astounded that apps I paid for at itunes/app store or downloaded for free can't be properly backed up and restored from there also. There was a message before I did the restore that said some things will be deleted and you will have to pay for them again.. this is crazy. Why can't they do a better job of this? I wasn't sure what to do at that point since I didn't know which apps they referred to, the above were free as far as I remember and apple wouldn't give me a new phone without me doing a restore to see if not being able to connect to wifi was a hardware issue, which I now know it is. It would have made more sense to just give me a new phone and do a backup without deleting this info off my phone if possible.

Ever since I got my iPhone 5, the screen after the lock screen where you type in your 4 digit pin doesn't fill the whole display. When I'm looking at the keypad screen to unlock it, there is a 1/4 inch blank (black) part at the bottom. It actually cuts short the bottom row of the keypad where the "Emergency Call, 0, and Cancel" buttons are located. I just want to know if anyone else has seen this, and if it's something I should contact Apple about.

She complains about it constantly. The most recent complaint is that it turns off before the battery shows that it's completely depleted. I'm tempted to replace the battery, though it's only about a year and a half old.

As a stopgap measure, I'm thinking about picking up one of these external battery cases they make. It seems like the top dog is the Morphie Juice Pack Plus, and I like that I can get it in purple, which is her favorite color. Are there any other units I should consider? Key criteria are that it has to be easy to use and it has to allow some kind of passthrough for the dock connector, since she uses it constantly in her car with iPod integration.

Assuming everyone agrees that the Morphie is a good pick, does anyone know where I can pick up a genuine unit at a good price? I see Amazon has it out there for $89 in purple, but it comes from a third party seller (fulfilled by Amazon), which is kind of concerning as I've heard many people complain of counterfeit units that are nearly indiscernible from the real model, though they are not built as well.

My question is, does anybody have a recommendation on something that can convert the hdmi output to a composite rca cable. The reason why I need this is because I plan on using this setup in my car for the kids in the back seat so they can stream netflix of something while we go on a long road trip. The problem is the built in entertainment system doesn't have an hdmi input. It has the old school red, white, and yellow composite rca jacks.

It seems that the only thing that Apple offers that allows the iphone 5 to output the a/v is the lightning digital a/v adaptor. I'm then thinking of buying an hdmi cable to plug into some kind of device that can convert the signal to composite rca. I'll then buy an rca composite cable to plug into the output end of this convertor device and then I'll plug the other end of the composite rca cable into the entertainment system in the car.

I found one from Etekcity. Has anybody tried this or heard of it and if so, can you provide some feedback on the product? The only extras I have is a car charger. Which I don't use very often. But I do from time to time. It's comforting knowing I have it. I'd hate to drop another wad of money on a new charger just because the 5 has a different charging port. And I think Apple charges too much for an adapter. Can anyone suggest an after market product/company for my car charger that won't ask for my first born? One that really works? I've heard some stories about after market products for Apple. Most not good.

This may sound like a stupid question, but I'm am clueless on the subject of smartphones. I am getting my first smartphone and I am choosing the iPhone 5 with IOS 6 through Verizon. I am also getting my mother-in-law her first smartphone and am getting her an iPhone 4S with IOS 6 because her coverage area only has 3G. We are trying to find the best way to learn how to use the phones. Should be be concentrating on the model of iPhone or on the version of the operating system? or both? And do you have any suggestions on the easiest way to learn? We're both total newbies. I've been a Mac user for a few years now so I don't have any problems syncing the phone with iTunes or over iCloud.

for some reason i have no clue about, my trusty iPhone 3GS has started showing these lines or stripes horizontally across its screen.
in everyday use they don't REALLY interfere but they ARE annoying & i'm afraid if left unattended they might develop into something worse ?
if the screen background is clear ( white, tray, etc.. depending on app used ) the lines display as black & vice versa - very odd....

as you can see on the attached photo, i chose to photograph the iPhone's screen just before it disconnects so you can clearly see the lines

does anyone have ANY idea why this is happening ? & how to cure it if possible...

Mainly because I want more storage, 16 Gb is not cutting it plus the battery on this drains way too fast and I will be using it a lot there I'd think (no, location services, bluetooth and all of that is not on).
I have been getting A LOT of flack from Verizon about possibly upgrading a whopping 1 week early and they just keep saying no it's impossible, which I don't believe. The power button on my iphone 5 is malfunctioning. The exact problem is that it sometimes works and sometimes not. I went to the local apple dealer and complained about the phone. They accepted the fact that the power button was malfunctioning and agreed to replace it. However, they noticed a small dent/scratch and said that due to this warranty is void and they will not be replacing the phone with a new one.

The dent/scratch is very similar to the pic here

While changing the battery for my iphone 4g I tore it down and now while fixing screwing it back I am not able to make it out that from where it have arrived ??
