Do I have some sort of virus and if so (and in any event) is there any software out there that can search for viruses in any application?

Hope this will save someone else a headache.

I made the mistake of attaching a 120MB file to an outgoing email using my gmail account in Mail. Of course, it popped up a message telling me the max file size was 34MB. Ok, silly me.

But that wasn't the end of it. For the last three days, Mail has run with a spinning ball on gmail in it's attempt to send that message. No other messages could be sent or received thru the gmail account. And the network showed 225kb data sent continuously.

I couldn't delete the message either. The message was not located in drafts or sent items. Spotlight couldn't find it either. Not even with all hidden files shown.

Meanwhile, it placed that email in a new folder called Recovered Messages no less than 40-50 times a day. Hadn't had time to mess with it until tonight.

After a search through the Mail folder, found the key location.
Delete everything in the following folder:
~/Library/Mail/IMAP-email@gmail.com/.offlinecache

Hello everybody,

This morning, my sister messaged me over Skype and asked me for help regarding a cracked DVD of hers that she bought from Japan. It is some limited edition DVD that she bought, so she'd really like to recover the contents of the DVD and then duplicate it on a blank DVD.

The DVD has a crack in the middle near the plastic ring, about half a centimeter in length, and she is really nervous about running it in a drive, because I told her about the possibilities of it cracking further, and then being stuck in the drive. The only computer capable of burning a DVD in the house is my iMac, but I am currently not in the country to figure out how to do it. I tried to create a new disk image and then burning it from Disk Utility, but there seems to be some kind of copyright protection on the DVD, and I think it said something about me not having the permission to do what I was doing. I couldn't create a disk image, and now we are stuck.

Anyway, I am wondering if there is a way to safely extract the contents of the DVD (hopefully with the menus and everything) and then burning it onto another DVD. Also, it has to bypass the copyright stuff, if possible. I don't suppose this topic is off limits, since my sister did buy it herself, right?

Hi all
My other half recently bought a MacBook Pro running 10.5.8 for her new business. I was running the Time Machine backup when she started Entourage halfway through.
Once the backup had finished I launched Entourage and all emails and the user account details had 'disappeared'.
I did some research online and identified the database location. There is a 22mb file in the 'Main Identity' folder. I have run the Microsoft Database utility and it says the database is fine.
However, whatever I do (creating new identities, renaming identities, etc) I can't get Entourage to 'connect' to the database although the emails are in there (I found the vrge08 files).
Please help as all her business emails are in there and she needs them back.
Thanks
Ben

I have been hunting around for weeks, and I am unable to find a suitable Remote Desktop Manager.

I am trying to get away from Windows altogether, and until I can find a suitable application that will fit my needs, I'm stuck. I really want to wipe my bootcamp partition.

The one I currently use with windows is VisionApp vRD, and it works perfectly in Windows, but they just don't offer anything for the Mac OS.

Basically what I am looking for is an application that when I open it up will have a pane of some sort that will allow me to save RDP connections in a directory tree type of format.

So that when I need to log into say one of my Domain Controllers all I have to do is expand the Domain Controllers folder and click on the domain controller that I need to log into. It would then in turn launch a remote desktop connection in a tabbed window. By doing it in a tabbed window it allows you to be able to control more than one RDP session at a time, just by going back and forth between tabs.

Does anyone know if anything like this or similar exists for the mac?
