										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><em><strong>Mrs. Dora Russell Goes to Her Reward</strong></em></p>
<p><strong>Mrs. Dora Russell</strong>, aged 61 years, died at her home in the Kirbytown section of the county at about five o’clock Thursday afternoon of last week after four years of ill health, attributed to cancer. She is survived by her husband,<strong> Elijah Russell;</strong> one son,<strong> Lawrence Russell,</strong> with whom she made her home; one daughter, <strong>Mrs. Sam Dyer</strong>, of Nashville; a sister, <strong>Mrs. Alice Shrum</strong>, of Illinois; and three brothers, <strong>Frank, Benton, and Claude Steen</strong>, all of Lafayette or nearby.</p>
<p>The remains were laid to rest about three o’clock Friday afternoon in the Nelse McDonald Cemetery, following funeral services conducted by<strong> Elder Calvin Gregory</strong>, The deceased, who was the daughter of<strong> Elihu Steen,</strong> was a member of Beech Bottom Baptist church for many years. She was a hard working woman and was highly esteemed by a large circle of friends</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Mrs. Sarah Pirtle Is Paralysis Victim</strong></p>
<p>After having suffered a paralytic stroke some years ago and a second stroke recently, <strong>Mrs. Sarah Pirtle</strong>, aged 80 years, died at the home of her nephew, <strong>O.C. Green</strong> in Lafayette about one o’clock Monday afternoon. She had resided until recently in the Williams section where she had made her home for many years. She was the widow of the late <strong>John Pirtle</strong>. They had no children. She left a half-sister, <strong>Mrs. Muncie Cooper</strong>, of Aurora, Illinois, and about a dozen nephews and nieces as her only immediate surviving relatives.</p>
<p>Burial was made about noon Wednesday in the family graveyard near Williams, following funeral services conducted by <strong>Elder John Carter Holland</strong>, from the Williams Church of Christ, of which she had been a member for a number of years. She was a good old woman, and was highly esteemed by all who knew her. She was the daughter of <strong>Thomas J. and Nancy Shrum Green,</strong> and was born in the Brown’s section of this county.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Nellie Hire Perdue</strong>, age 76, formerly of Macon County, passed away last Wednesday at Frank Anthony Hospital in Louisville, KY. She was a native of Macon County, the daughter of <strong>James Franklin and Ellie White Hire</strong>. Her husband, <strong>Herbert Perdue</strong>, and one son, <strong>Clessie Perdue</strong>, preceded her in death. <strong>Clessie</strong> was killed in WWII.</p>
<p>Funeral services were held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Austin Funeral Home in Lafayette by Rev. H. S. Jenkins, interment was in the Underwood Cemetery.</p>
<p>Survivors include three sons<strong>, Dennis and James Perdue,</strong> both of Peoria, IL., <strong>Darrell Perdue</strong> of Tipton, IN.; four daughters <strong>Mrs. J. C. Weems</strong> of Franklin, KY.,<strong> Mrs. Roy Claiborne</strong> of Lafayette,<strong> Mrs. Robert Guinn</strong> of Louisville, KY., and <strong>Mrs. Alford Gosnell</strong> of White House, TN.; three brothers, <strong>Lewis Hire</strong>, Woodburn, KY., <strong>Albert Hire</strong> and<strong> Leo Hire</strong>, both of Lafayette; one sister <strong>Mrs. Elsie Jenkins</strong>, IN; 22 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>After a brief illness from flu and pneumonia, <strong>Mrs. Gertha Perdue</strong>, aged 40 years, died at her home in the Underwood community just after midnight Thursday. She is survived by her husband, <strong>Ezra M. Perdue</strong>; nine children, <strong>Tilden, Hildreth, James, Kenneth, Hollis, Marie, Irma, Jewell and Mildred Perdue</strong>, all of Underwood; and <strong>Mrs. Gracie Wooten</strong> of Indianapolis; her step father and mother <strong>Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Bandy</strong> of Lafayette; one sister, <strong>Mrs. Lonnie Hire</strong> of Oak Dale; two half-brothers, <strong>A. R. Bandy</strong> of Oklahoma City and <strong>Louis Bandy</strong> of Nashville; one half sister <strong>Mrs. Ida Meador</strong> of Scottsville; and step brothers <strong>Britt Bandy</strong> of Lafayette and <strong>Burton Bandy</strong> of Spring Creek.</p>
<p>Burial was made at 3 o’clock Friday afternoon in Underwood Cemetery with funeral services conducted by the <strong>Rev. M. D. Claybourne</strong>. The deceased was a professed Christian although she was not identified with any church. Her early death and the bereavement of so many children and other relatives occasioned many expressions of sorrow and sympathy.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Dellie Aulene Perdue</strong>, age 77, of Lafayette, TN., passed away Saturday, April 17, 1993, at University Medical Center in Lebanon, TN. Mrs. Perdue was born in Macon County, the daughter of the late <strong>Claude and Francis Driver Fox</strong>. Her husband<strong> Ezra Perdue</strong>, preceded her in death. Also, two sons, <strong>Willard</strong> and <strong>Jewell Perdue</strong>, preceded her in death. She was a homemaker.</p>
<p>Funeral services were held Monday, April 19, 1993, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home in Lafayette by <strong>Bro. Thomas E. Roark</strong>. Interment was in the Underwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were <strong>Ricky Lawrence, Jonathon, Scottie, Eric, Tony, Shawn and DeWayne Perdue, and Michael Wright.</strong></p>
<p>She is survived by five sons, <strong>Bill Perdue, Charles Perdue and Randall Perdue</strong>, all of Lafayette, TN., <strong>Roger Perdue</strong> of Hermitage Springs, TN., <strong>Steve Perdue</strong> of Mt. <p>Obituary: Mrs. Sarah Patterson</p>
<p>Following a brief illness from pneumonia and complications,<strong> Mrs. Sarah Patterson,</strong> aged 84 years, died at her home in the Union Camp section at 11 o&#8217;clock Wednesday morning. She is survived by her husband, <strong>Geo. Patterson</strong>; a large number of stepchildren; and a few distant relatives, all her sisters and brothers having preceded her in death. She was a Miss Leath prior to her first marriage which was to Dan Norman.</p>
<p>Burial was made in the Wilmore Cemetery, near the Patterson home, at two thirty o&#8217;clock Thursday afternoon, following funeral services conducted by <strong>Elder Calvin Gregory</strong>. <strong>Mrs. Patterson</strong> was a good Christian woman and was highly esteemed by a large circle of friends.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><em><strong>Funeral Services For Graves Nichols Held Friday</strong></em></p>
<p><strong>Robert Graves Nichols</strong> (age 84) retired farmer passed away at his home in the Ebenezer community last Wednesday afternoon.</p>
<p>A native of Macon County he was the son of <strong>Drury and Liza Shrum Nichol</strong>s. His first wife, Mrs. Ella Hooper Nichols passed away in 1917. Later he married <strong>Mrs. Annice Gammons Nichols</strong>, who survives.</p>
<p>Funeral services were held Friday at 2:00 PM at Alexander Funeral Home by <strong>Elder T.C. Jones</strong> and <strong>Elder E.C. Butler</strong>. Burial was in the Haysville cemetery.</p>
<p>Survivors other than his wife include one son, <strong>Graves Nichols</strong>, Lafayette; two daughters, <strong>Mrs. V.C. McDuffee</strong> of Scottsville, Ky., and <strong>Mrs. Elton Brawner</strong>, Lafayette; one brother, <strong>Thomas Nichols</strong>, Ebenezer; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><em><strong>Odell Nichols is Summoned by Death</strong></em></p>
<p><strong>Simpson Odell Nichols</strong>, aged almost 60 years, died at his home on the old county farm two miles east of Lafayette, at four o’clock Monday afternoon. He had had high blood pressure for some time and was taken suddenly worse only a short time before the end. He was in charge of the farm and had been given the same position on the new county farm located west of town for the coming year. The deceased is survived by his wife, <strong>Mrs. Lottie Nichols</strong>; two sons, <strong>Asa Nichols</strong> of Indianapolis; and <strong>Pfc Graylon Nichols</strong>, now in the Hawaiian Islands; four daughters, <strong>Mrs. Evie Dalvy</strong> and <strong>Mrs. Florzelle Leath</strong>, both of Detroit; <strong>Mrs. Gracie Smith</strong> of Old Hickory; and <strong>Mrs. Bevie Dickens</strong> of the Ebenezer section of the county; two step-daughters <strong>Mrs. Claudia King</strong>, of the Underwood community and <strong>Miss Jessie Jack Steen</strong> residing with her mother,; fourteen grandchildren; and two brothers, <strong>Robert and Thomas Nichols</strong>, both of the Ebenezer section.</p>
<p>The remains were laid to rest late Tuesday afternoon in the Haysville Cemetery, following funeral services conducted from Haysville Baptist church by <strong>Elder Calvin Gregory</strong>. The deceased was converted as a youth and united with Ebenezer Baptist church. He was a native of that section and was the son of<strong> Drury and Eliza Shrum Nichols</strong>.</p>
