The essential challenge for for our country in the next decade will be achieving energy independence. It is essential to help keep more of our money in this country as well as make sure our enemies and potential adversaries cannot hold us hostage by witholding vital strategic resources from us in a period of dire need. In the meantime, gas prices are sky-rocketing, and dragging our economy down.

Barack Obama has made no proposals to give working Americans a break at the pump. The fundamental thrust of his energy plan is reducing carbon emissions and addressing climate change. He is completely opposed to domestic drilling, he is opposed to new nuclear plants, and is basing his energy policy on the HOPE that a scientific breakthrough will yield affordable green technologies in the next few years. When it comes to solving problems in the short term, he is truly Dr. No. The only thing Barack Obama has said YES to is taxes on oil companies, natural gas, and coal.

John McCain has put forward a broadbased approach for energy independence, leading with lifting restrictions on domestic oil drilling. Also included is support for alternative technologies, nuclear power, flex fuel vehicles, and addressing, through regulation, speculative oil pricing.

"America is going to meet this great challenge, but we are not going to do it as a supplicant or as a plaintiff. We are not going to meet it with words at all. We are going to meet it with action. And we are going to meet this challenge in a way consistent with the character of our nation. Three decades of partisan paralysis on energy security is enough. Since I am not president, I cannot say the buck stops here -- but I will say that it must stop now."

John McCain has the right approach for energy independence and reducing fuel prices. It is based on a pragmatic view that refuses to reject any solution because it fails to mesh with an ideological viewpoint.

Unfortunately, even John McCain cannot solve 30 years of a non-existent energy policy overnight. Drilling will work in the short-term, but not in the IMMEDIATE short term. To find immediate relief, all of us are going to have take measures -- as individuals, families, and businesses -- to ease the impact of high oil prices on our lives.

To address this, some of our MacPac08 friends will be posting some ideas and suggestions over the next few days about how YOU can help achieve energy independence. Please check back in and comment when you have your own ideas to share.

Who is Raila Odinga and how is Sen. Obama connected to him?

Raila Odinga is the Muslim extremist who recently lost the Kenyan Presidential election to a Christian. Raila is a “paternal cousin” to Mr. Obama and has visited with him in both Illinois and Kenya.

Who is Abongo “Roy” Obama?

Abongo is Barack’s brother who recently preaches that the “Black man must liberate himself from the poisons of European cultures and western values”

What is Sen. Obama’s race?

Mr. Obama is bi-racial, his father is a black Muslim and his mother is white. However, in most of his activities, speeches, and a myriad of voting patterns he votes primarily as a black centric man.

What is Sen. Obama’s belief in Black Theology?

Did Mr. Obama fail to hold his hand over his heart at a recent democratic event where the National Anthem was played?

Yes, during a recent democratic hopeful debate involving Mr. Obama, Senator Clinton, Gov Richardson, and Ruth Harkin he was photographed failing to show the flag of the U.S. respect by holding his hand over his heart for the playing of the National Anthem.

Are Mr. & Mrs. Obama Anti-American?

Sen. Obama is friends with an admitted terrorist William Ayers, who has no regrets about bombing the Pentagon. He won't wear a Flag Pin, because he doesn't need a symbol to show he is patriotic. To me it shows he is Anti-American. If you won't wear a symbol of freedom, you can just as easily burn the flag, although a "right", very un-American. Mrs. Obama has said, "for the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country". Why, because her husband is black?

Today it was revealed that the "New Yorker" Magazine's 21 July cover will feature a satirical caricature of Senator and Michelle Obama that their liberal media lapdogs are falling all over each other to condemn, even before the edition has appeared. We here at www.macpac08.com agree -- it is completely offensive. The McCain campaign has shown the decency to condemn it as well.

We also think that its important to note that not three weeks ago "Rolling Stone" magazine published a hit piece with a caricature of Senator McCain bound up in a tiger cage, being poked and prodded by his Vietnamese captors. Did any member of the media step up and mention this, let alone condemn it? Did Barack Obama or any member of his campaign show the slightest bit of class and condemn this? HELL NO! Did anyone hear the McCain campaign do any complaining? Again, NO.

What would Obama, the media, and their legion of drones do if Obama and his wife got burned in effigy, or worse, heard crowds in Pakistan or Iran chanting "Death To Obama?" Politics is tough -- wear a cup!

More and more we are finding that Obama has a pretentious nature. His swooning droves of followers seem mesmerized and hang on to each word as though addicted junkies waiting on their Obama Fix. Obama seems to revel in this adoration and one could argue that his rock star status has gone to his head. Jonah Goldberg of the New York Post has written a good piece that points out just how big Obama's ego really is.

The overarching theme to his entire campaign - "We are the ones we've been waiting for," and all that - is that voting for Obama is proof of the cosmic superiority of ... Obama voters. In a speech in Madison, Wis., Obama told his supporters that rallying to his cause was today's equivalent of the "greatest generation" rallying to defeat Hitler and Tojo. Oprah merely calls him, "The One," saying he will help us "evolve to a higher plane."Someone get that man one of those "I'm Kind of a Big Deal" T-shirts.Take his decision to deliver his acceptance speech at Invesco Field at Mile High in Denver. It seems that the venue for the rest of the Democratic convention - the Pepsi Center (occupancy 21,000) - is just too small.Obama says he wants to give the common folk more "access" to the process. Only a man with an Olympian's sense of entitlement to mass worship could describe such a choreographed descent upon a place called "Mile High" as an effort to bond with the common man. A demigod, it seems, is never so tall as when he stoops to bask in the adoration of the little people.

History Has shown us - the bigger they are, the harder they fall. The pedestal Obama is propped on is starting to show some cracks.

Yesterday Michelle Obama started yet another little firestorm with her comments about the economic stimulus package:

"In response to a question about the economic stimulus checks administered by the U.S. government earlier this year,
Michelle Obama said her husband believes that short-term fixes don't solve economic problems."You're getting $600," she told an audience of mostly African-American women here.

"What can you do with that? Not to be ungrateful or anything. But maybe it pays down a bill, but it doesn't pay down every bill every month."

"Barack's approach is that the short-term quick fix kinda stuff sounds good," she continued. "And it may even feel good that first month when you get that check.
And then you go out and you buy a pair of earrings," she joked.

But just 2 weeks ago, Senator Obama called for a SECOND round of economic stimulus package
payments:

“Consumer confidence is at an all-time low, gas prices are at all-time high and the housing market still hasn’t been stabilized which is putting a lot of pressure on the Fed to juice up the economy at the same time its dealing with inflation," said Obama in an interview with Alexis Glick of FOX Business Network. “Having a serious energy plan and looking at the possible speculation in the oil futures market could have a difference at least in alleviating some of the upward pressure on oil prices.”

According to Obama, there’s a need for another stimulus package and a permanent $1,000 tax cut for individuals and families. He said all of those actions combined could “get the economy back on the right track.”

This of course is in addition to the $75 billion stimulus package he proposed in January. So Senator, if you don't think these stimulus package solve anything, why do you keep proposing them?

You know, I don't understand when people are going around worrying about, "We need to have English- only." They want to pass a law, "We want English-only."

Now, I agree that immigrants should learn English. I agree with that. But understand this. Instead of worrying about whether immigrants can learn English -- they'll learn English -- you need to make sure your child can speak Spanish. You should be thinking about, how can your child become bilingual? We should have every child speaking more than one language.

You know, it's embarrassing when Europeans come over here, they all speak English, they speak French, they speak German. And then we go over to Europe, and all we can say [is], "Merci beaucoup." Right?

The US national language should always be English no buts please. In my opinion Americans do not need to assimilate to other immigrants coming here, those immigrants need to assimilate to us (Americans). Even though we have many who speak foreign languages, they should learn English first, because that is what ties Americans together and I believe speaking English is what this country is founded upon , a common language. America itself will fall apart if English is not a national language if we allow people to speak other languages in Government Offices or any jobs in America.

English are taught in school all over the world because English is universal. We are not taught other languages, only by choice and why forced Americans to learn languages they do not want to speak, when at the same time English is not being enforced as the national language in this country? Immigrants need to start assimilating to an American way of life, otherwise why came to this country in the first place?If it because of economic opportunity, well that is part of being an American because that is called liberty. Another part of coming to this country and becoming an American is speaking English first above all other languages.

If speaking different languages helps in securing a better job why stop at Spanish, why don’t we add Chinese, Hindu, Farsi, Arabic, German. French, Malay, Indonesia, Tagalog and so on. Obama have voted twice against making English as official language in the US. I am an immigrant and I speaks English. And I am proud of that. Why shouldn’t you???

Bill Clinton - WTF?

This weekend Bill Clinton continued his 2008 "Head Up My Ass" tour when
he made the following comments about POW'swhile he was discussing Nelson Mandela:

It's like if you know anyone who's ever a POW for any length of time," the former president opined in Aspen, Colo., over the weekend, "you will see that [they] go along for months or even years and then something will happen that will trigger all those bad dreams."

All of us here at www.macpac08.com thought Nelson Mandela was a political prisoner, not a POW.

Apparently Barack Obama did a good job of kissing Clinton's ass in their meeting last week, especially considering that while John McCain struggled to survive in the Hanoi Hilton, Bill Clinton was dodging the draft in London and learning how not to inhale.

Bringing The Budget To Balance By 2013

Mike Allen has posted an article on Politico.com announcing McCain's plan to balance the budget by 2013. John McCain is proving that he is aware of how out of control spending and a huge national debt directly affects Americans and must be brought under control.

In “Jobs for America: The McCain Economic Plan,” a 15-page document to be released Monday, the senator vows to “Bring The Budget To Balance By 2013” through:

--“Reasonable economic growth. Growth is an imperative – historically the greatest success in reducing deficits (late 1980s; late 1990s) took place in the context of economic growth.”
--“Comprehensive spending controls. Bringing the budget to balance will require across-the-board scrutiny of spending and making tough choices on new spending proposals.”
--“Bi-partisanship in budget efforts. Much as the late 1990s witnessed bipartisan efforts to put the fiscal house in order, bi-partisan efforts will be the key to undoing the recent spending binge.”

The plan’s big message is: “John McCain has a comprehensive economic plan that will create millions of good American jobs, ensure our nation's energy security, get the government's budget and spending practices in order, and bring relief to American consumers.”

How smart is Senator Kerry???

Today on Fox news, according to John Kerry Republican John McCain doesn’t have the judgment to be president.

“John McCain … has proven that he has been wrong about every judgment he’s made about the war. Wrong about the Iraqis paying for the reconstruction, wrong about whether or not the oil would pay for it, wrong about Sunni and Shia violence through the years, wrong about the willingness of the Iraqis to stand up for themselves,” Kerry, who supports Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, said on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

McCain adviser Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said McCain was the one who stood up to the administration and urged President Bush to send more U.S. troops to Iraq to help control violence. Obama did not support the addition of troops.

Violence in Iraq has dropped to its lowest level in more than four years as a result of the 2007 buildup of forces.

“We’re winning because John McCain understood Iraq better than anybody else,” Graham said. “The surge has worked. The political, economic and military progress in Iraq is undeniable.”

McCain came to Kerry’s aid in March 2004 after Bush and his campaign tried to paint the Democrat as weak on defense. He rejected the suggestion in broadcast interviews and chided both parties for waging such a “bitter and partisan” campaign.

On UK news;The “surge”, despite all the doubts and derision at the time, has been a triumph of US military planning and execution. Political progress was slower in coming but is now evident too. The Iraqi leadership has shown great courage and dispatch in extirpating extremists and a growing willingness even to turn on Shia militias. Basra is more peaceful and safer than it has been since before the British moved in. Despite setbacks such as yesterday's bombings, the streets of Iraq's cities are calmer and safer than they have been in years. Seventy companies have bid for oil contracts from the Iraqi Government. There are signs of a real political reconciliation that may reach fruition in the election later this year.

The third and perhaps most significant advance of all in the War on Terror is the discrediting of the Islamist creed and its appeal. This was first of all evident in Iraq, where the head-hacking frenzy of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and his associates so alienated the majority of Muslims that it gave rise to the so-called Sunni Awakening that enabled the surge to be so effective.

But it has spread way beyond Iraq. As Lawrence Wright described in an important piece in The New Yorker last month, there is growing disgust not just among moderate Muslims but even among other jihadists at the extremism of the terrorists.

Deeply encouraging has been the widespread revulsion in Muslim communities in Europe - especially in Britain after the 7/7 attacks of three years ago. Some of the biggest intelligence breakthroughs in the past few years have been achieved from former al-Qaeda supporters who have turned against the movement.

And just yesterday, Iraq's prime minister said that the government has defeated terrorism in the country, a sign of growing confidence after recent crackdowns against Sunni extremists and Shiite militias.

On Face The Nation show in 2005, read about Kerry remarks that we need a Secretary of Defense who thinks like John Mccain not Dick Chenny. A different version of what he said about Mccain recently.

On April 23, 1971 John Kerry threw his medals, ribbons, discharge papers, photographs, citations and articles of their uniforms over a fence at the Capitol building at Washington, D.C. in protest. In 2004 Kerry medals was being probe by the Navy

And the same John Kerry who has fabricated claim that he fought in Cambodia. And God knows what else he lied about and failed his own Presidential bid in 2004.And did any of you remember his outrageous remarks that American students who did not study hard and stay in school would end up "stuck in Iraq."

Is Obama going to denouce Kerry remarks? Or Kerry is just another surrogate to do Obama’s dirty works?

We can responsibly remove one to two combat brigades each month. If we start with the number of brigades we have in Iraq today, we can remove all of them 16 months." (Sen. In April 2008, Obama Reaffirmed His 16-Month Timetable; Did Not Say That It Would Be Dictated By Security On The Ground.

NBC's Meredith Vieira: "You've said when, Senator. You've said if you are elected, that within 16 months you're going to bring all the troops home from Iraq. Senator McCain said yesterday that that is a reckless promise that you cannot possibly keep, a failure of leadership. And even military leaders say that any withdrawal of troops would be dictated by security on the ground. So how can you guarantee you can pull out those troops in just 16 months?"

Obama Said He Would Remove Troops From Iraq In 16 Months Because "The Overall Strategy Has Failed." Obama:-

In September 2007, Obama Called For The U.S. To "Immediately Begin To Remove Our Combat Troops" From Iraq. Obama:-

The best way to protect our security and to pressure Iraq's leaders to resolve their civil war is to immediately begin to remove our combat troops. Not in six months or one year, but now." (Sen. Digging deeper into the American taxpayer's pocket, Barack Obama told a church congregation today in St. Louis that he wants to cure the woes of this impoverished nation, and the government can do this! Just minutes ago, in an AP release by Jennifer Loven, stated:

"But Obama's main message was the government's duty to address what he said are "moral problems" — such as war, poverty, joblessness, homelessness, violent streets and crumbling schools — and to employ religious institutions to do it."

Yeah... right! (I mean Reverend Wright) What religious institution does he have in mind? If he was speaking of his religious mentor and his grandeur moment of God D*mn America before a nation of Free People... I would have chosen my words more carefully. Yet reassuring the public that his campaign is not about race... he is referenced in the same article,

"Obama repeatedly referenced his religious faith in terms that would be familiar to white evangelicals as well as his black audience."

So, he says that? I would have chosen my words more carefully again. I feel sorry for the American people that uphold this candidate of change, for he still sounds the same to me. The only comparison I can make compare of Senator Obama's "gaining experience" is that of a child in an Amusement Park; hopping from ride to ride saying that was the best ever. Get a grip Barack Obama, discover yourself because your ride is coming to an end.

I don't know about you... but after reading this article, I still want to throw up.

Obama's Campaign Has Previously Reviewed Donations And Claimed To Have Returned All Of Those Funds Connected To Tony Rezko.

"'Our campaign directed a thorough review of these contributions and did our best to identify any received as a result of the June 2003 fundraising event hosted by Tony Rezko,' Burton said in a statement. 'By refunding these donations, the campaign has returned any and all funds that could be reasonably credited to Mr. Rezko's political support.'

Still, Burton offered no explanation of why the campaign took more than a year to shed all the donations it now says are tied to Rezko, especially funds gathered at the party in Rezko's home five years ago." And the giveaways questioned; The Tribune stated the event at Rezko’s home resembled a posh dinner party complete with valet paring and catered dinner. Obama spoke after the meal, and told the crowd about how when he was still in Havard law school Rezko, a developer had tried to hire him; Obama staffers set up shop around the kitchen table, where they collected checks.

One donor at the event was Micheal Sreenan, a former attorney for Rezko company gave Obama $2000 that night but hasn’t heard if the campaign now plans to give it away.

‘If Obama wants to give my donation back to me or let me give it to a charity, I’m fine with that.’ He said, ‘But I don’t see how this makes a difference now, the money still got him elected.’

According to Obama For America Website,, www.barackobama.com , Accessed 6/18/08, Mr. Rogers is a bundler for Obama’s Presidential campaign and has committed to raising over $200,000.

If any of you do not know what bundler means. Bundling describes the activity of fundraisers who pool a large number of campaign contributions from political action committees (PACs) and individuals. Bundlers, who are often corporate CEOs, lobbyists, hedge fund managers or independently wealthy people, are able to funnel far more money to campaigns than they could personally give under campaign finance laws.

But an article on The Hill by Mr. Alex Bolton said that, an event Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) headlined has prompted head scratching among Illinois ethics experts and drawn sharp rebuke from Republicans because one of the main organizers participated in Antoin “Tony” Rezko’s old fundraising network. John W. Rogers Jr., the chairman of Ariel Investments who gave $22,500 in contributions to Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D) through Rezko, hosted a top-dollar special reception with Obama Thursday to raise money for the Democratic White House Victory Fund

Rogers has also pledged to raise over $200,000 for Obama’s campaign. He was one of many political players whose name surfaced during Rezko’s recent trial. A federal jury convicted the Chicago political fixer of mail and wire fraud, aiding and abetting bribery and money laundering.

Rogers gave contributions of $10,000, $7,500 and $5,000 to Blagojevich through Rezko, according to a chart of contributions the Department of Justice (DoJ) presented as part of its case.

In an interview on Tuesday, Rogers said he never had a one-on-one meeting with Rezko and did not know why his name appeared on the Rezko donation chart compiled by the DoJ.

“I have no relationship with Tony Rezko,” he said. Rogers, who describes himself as a big Democratic supporter, said he had often “run into” Rezko at political and public events but added: “I’ve never been to his office, I’ve never been to his home, I’ve never talked to him about my business.”

Nevertheless, Rogers’s link to Rezko in federal evidence poses problems for Obama.

Kent Redfield, an ethics expert and political science professor at the University of Illinois, said Obama is taking a political risk by letting Rogers play a prominent role...

‘From Obama's standpoint, he's got to bend over backwards to avoid the appearance that he is just another Chicago politician that's connected to the underbelly of corruption in Illinois politics. If I were advising him, I would tell him, 'You have to be very careful to avoid situations where people will be tempted to connect the dots.'

Cynthia Canary, director of the Illinois Campaign for Political Reform, said Rogers is part of a new generation of African-American business leaders in Chicago. She said Rogers's donation to Blagojevich is not surprising but questioned why he gave through Rezko. 'I think that's very odd,' she said of Rezko's role as an intermediary between Rogers and Blagojevich. 'I don't know why he gave that way, and it raises questions in my mind.

Obama ‘Dignity’ Ad Lies.

According to national review online Senator Obama has taken out the dishonest reference to his passing a bill in Congress to extend health care to wounded soldiers, so all the substantive claims made in the new ad about his legislative accomplishments are about laws he is said to have passed in the Illinois legislature, not the U.S. Senate.

The ad first says Obama “passed a law that moved people from welfare to work” and offers as a citation Illinois Public Act 90-0017 from 1997. That act made some amendments to the Illinois welfare statutes to bring them into line with the federal welfare reform enacted in the previous year. It replaced references to AFDC (the previous federal welfare program) with references to TANF (the new one), and put the new federal welfare reform rules into the state code. Obama was one of the co-sponsors of the act, but in the debate surrounding it he actually said a federal law he would have opposed basically forced the state into it. His exact words were:

But the ad makes it sound like it was Senator Obama’s idea, and then says that he “slashed the rolls by 80 percent,” thus taking credit for the declining welfare rolls achieved by the federal law Senator Obama would have opposed (it cites HHS statistics for that decline, and those trace the results of the federal welfare reform).

A question to Senator Obama, how many lies you need to publish or said to add colors to your ‘accomplishments'.

An essay titled An Enduring Peace Built on Freedom written by John McCain was published by the Council on Foreign Relations in their Nov/Dec 2007 edition. In honor of the birthday of our country, a country born out of a desire for freedom from oppression, I thought it appropriate to share this excerpt . Enjoy!

Barack Obama and Dr. No --Separated At Birth?

This week, the McCain campaign has characterized Barack Obama as the "Dr. No" of energy independence and energy security. In the past few weeks, John McCain has proposed a number of actions to provide a balanced approach to helping the US achieve greater energy independence. Some of Senator McCain's proposals:

In April, John McCain proposed a summer federal gas tax holiday. ALthough Hillary Clinton agreed with Senator McCain, Barack Obama said "NO", saying it would "save consumers little and do nothing to curtail oil consumption." What Obama fails to realize is that the holiday would have had a significant impact on trucking and freight industry, reducing costs to consumers for items such as food.

Senator McCain has long proposed increased use of nuclear energy, and has proposed 45 new nuclear reactors in the US by 2030, arguing that since the Three-Mile Island accident, nuclear technology has gotten safer, as evidenced in countries such as France, which depends heavily on nuclear energy.Obama said "NO", claiming "said he supports increased research into nuclear waste storage and recycling, but could not endorse construction of new reactors until those concerns are resolved."

Last week, Senator McCain came out for expanding oil drilling in the U.S. and in off-shore areas. Again, Obama said "NO", claiming it to be nothing but a "gimmick" that would not yield results for 10 years.

This week, John McCain proposed a "$300 million prize for the for the development of a battery package that has the size, capacity, cost and power to leapfrog the commercially available plug-in hybrids or electric cars.” Again, Obama said "NO", calling the proposal a "gimmick."

While Obama has made some laudable proposals for developing "green" and renewable energy technologies, the truth is that we cannot rule out any proposal that has a chance in getting working Americans some relief. We can't be saying "NO" to anything -- we've got to do it ALL.

What has Obama said "YES" to?

Windfall Profits Tax on Oil Companies (that failed in the 1970's) -- "YES WE CAN!"

Taxing Coal -- "YES WE CAN!"

Taxing Natural Gas -- "YES WE CAN!"

Nobel Prize Winning Economist:"Make Bush Tax Cuts Permanent"

Nobel Laureate Robert Mundell predicts that rescinding the Bush tax cuts "would be devastating to the world economy," according to an interview appearing today in the Wall Street Journal.

Mr. Mundell, University Professor of Economics at Columbia University, and a leading advocate for introduction of the Euro, stated that in the U.S, "the big issue economically . . . is what's going to happen to taxes."

"Democratic nominee Barack Obama regularly professes disdain for the Bush tax cuts, suggesting that those growth-spurring measures may be scrapped. "If that happens," Mr. Mundell predicts, 'the U.S. will go into a big recession, a nosedive.'

'It's a lethal thing to suddenly raise taxes,' he explains. 'This would be devastating to the world economy, to the United States, and it would be, I think, political suicide' in a general election."

When asked about further tax cuts, Mr Mundell favored a ceiling of 30% on marginal rates (currently 35%), but stated that "the most important thing that could be done with respect to tax rates now is to make the Bush tax cuts permanent. Eliminating that uncertainty would be more important than pushing for a further cut – in the income tax rates, anyway."

Mr. Mundell also favors reducing corporate tax rates to 25%, and says "It could be even lower, but I think it would be a big step to lower it to 25% . . . I made that proposal back in the 1970s."

So maintaining the Bush tax cuts and reducing corporate tax rates are what a Nobel Laureate says is the correct approach for America's economy. Who else has been saying that? John McCain!

Obama Plays the Race Card -- Again

CNN reports on comments by Barack Obama in Jacksonville, Florida yesterday at a fundraiser, where he clearly showed that he is determined to play the race card early and often throughout the campaign.

“We know what kind of campaign they’re going to run,” said the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee. “They’re going to try to make you afraid. They’re going to try to make you afraid of me. ‘He’s young and inexperienced and he’s got a funny name. And did I mention he’s black?’"

According to the CNN article, this isn't the first time Obama has made such comments. Just last week at a Chicago fundraiser, he made similar statements:

"They’re going to try to make me into a scary guy ... They’re even trying to make Michelle into a scary person. Right?" And so that drumbeat – 'we’re not sure if he’s patriotic or not; we’re not sure if he is too black.'"

Senator Obama, WE DON'T CARE about your race. John McCain DOESN'T CARE about your race. This writer is certain that there is a small segment of the population of this country that will never vote for a black man -- but the vast majority of McCain supporters are not part of that group.

Scott Simon at NPR, discussing Obama's comments yesterday, points out that Obama's opponent is, "... John McCain, not a small band of jerks on the internet...Senator McCain has never mentioned Senator Obama's race."

He goes on to say:

"No doubt Senator Obama has had to bravely bear up under bigoted insults in his life, but not from John McCain. Can someone raise questions about the experience of the candidate, who has only been a U.S. Senator for 4 years, and does not have a prodigious legislative record, without being stained as a bigot? The results of this year's primary and the results of todays public opinion polls might suggest it is politically more injurious to insinuate that someone is a bigot than it is to make an issue of their race. Millions of Americans hope the country can go through this year's historic presidential campaign without anyone playing the race card. But they'll have to watch both sides of the table."
