On May 18, Canton, Georgia-based prosecutors announced that 44-year-old Phillissa Diallo has been sentenced to 37 years, with the first 21 years to be served in prison, after entering a non-negotiated guilty plea for the 2022 death of two-year-old Alyssa Rose Davis. Diallo pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, second-degree cruelty to children, and concealing the death of another person, according to a press release from the Cherokee County District Attorney’s Office.

During a May 20 interview with TMZ, Rep. Ilhan Omar called the Department of Justice investigation into her finances and immigration status flat out “ridiculous,” just one day after Vice President JD Vance said during a White House briefing that the DOJ would look into allegations involving the Minnesota congresswoman’s family finances and possible immigration fraud, according to CBS News and TMZ.

According to the congresswoman, the probe isn’t new. Omar revealed that the DOJ has been trying to investigate her since “Trump’s first administration.”

“It’s ridiculous…. I always say if they had something they would have already shown their cards,” the Democrat told TMZ.

Erin Merdy, the Brooklyn mother convicted of drowning her three young children in the ocean near their Coney Island home in 2022, has been sentenced to 20 years to life in prison, according to a press release from the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office. The victims were just 7 years old, 4 years old, and 3 months old.

On May 20, Merdy, 34, was sentenced by Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Danny Chun to 20 years to life in prison, despite prosecutors seeking a harsher sentence. She pleaded guilty on March 4, 2026, to three counts of first-degree murder.

South Carolina authorities believe they may have located the remains of Krystal Anderson, a mother of four who disappeared in August 2022. Investigators have long suspected that her then-boyfriend, Tony Berry, was responsible for her death after Anderson’s DNA was allegedly discovered in the trunk of his vehicle, according to reports from WRDW, The Augusta Press, and WACH. Now, prosecutors in Aiken County believe the case may finally be nearing a heartbreaking resolution.

Aiken County deputies found human remains believed to be connected to Krystal Anderson.

According to WRDW, Aiken County deputies discovered human remains on May 20 buried near Highway 37 in Blackville. While DNA testing is still pending, Anderson’s family believes the remains belong to her.

“There were belongings found on those remains that were identical to Krystal’s belongings,” said private investigator Chandra Cleveland, who has worked closely with Anderson’s family throughout the investigation.

Cleveland said the discovery brings both grief and long-awaited answers for Anderson’s children.

The 46-year-old mother of three had not experienced heavy bleeding like that since using birth control. By late 2024, her menstrual periods had become longer and heavier. At first, she believed the problem might be connected to her intrauterine device, or IUD, stress, or changes connected to age. But as the bleeding continued, McNeil knew something was wrong.

“Your IUD may be faulty. You have about three years left on it. Maybe that’s the issue. We’ll swap it out,” McNeil said her provider told her, without first conducting a scan or ultrasound.

Eventually, after receiving a CT scan and an ultrasound, McNeil learned that she had a uterine fibroid.

Fibroids, also known as uterine leiomyomas, are noncancerous growths in or around the uterus. They are common, but for many women, especially Black women, they can cause heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pressure, pain, anemia, fertility issues, pregnancy complications, and, in some cases, major surgery.

On Tuesday, the Duchess of Sussex shared a collection of never-before-seen photos from their wedding day, which took place on May 19, 2018, at the breathtaking St. George’s Chapel in Windsor, according to PEOPLE.  The intimate black and white images were photographed by Chris Allerton.

Across two Instagram posts, Meghan offered fans a closer look at both the daytime ceremony and evening celebration. The first featured moments from the wedding and reception, including Elton John entertaining guests at the piano. A guest told PEOPLE at the time that one of the songs he played was “Tiny Dancer.”

Among the photos in the first post were tender moments of the couple inside the cloisters of St. George’s Chapel, where they exchanged vows. The tender moments didn’t end there. The second post captured the couple enjoying the dance floor during their wedding reception, dancing and twirling to a live band. The anniversary photos arrive just over two weeks after Meghan shared previously unseen images of Prince Harry with their son, Prince Archie, in honor of his seventh birthday. One touching photo showed baby Archie asleep on Harry’s chest, wrapped snugly in a blanket.

Another image offered a recent glimpse of Archie and the royal couple’s daughter, Princess Lilibet, walking together along a beach near the family’s Montecito home. Archie carried a walking stick while the siblings’ signature red hair glowed in the sunlight. 

“7 years later…happy birthday to our sweet boy,” she captioned the post in honor of Prince Archie’s 7th birthday.

Prince Archie, the eldest child of Meghan and Prince Harry, was born in May 2019. The couple later welcomed their daughter, Princess Lilibet, in June 2021. Meghan shared in a previous interview that she wanted to create a life that felt normal for her children, particularly after the fallout that occurred following her and Harry’s decision to step down from their royal duties. 

Notably, during an interview with Emme Grede in 2025. Meghan gushed that she was happy to be living “a real, authentic, fun life” despite the “noise” and negativity some people have created around her family and life. 

“I’m just grateful that now, being back on social as well.  I have a place where I can share it on my own terms,” she added.

Tiphanee Lee, a mother from Louisville, Kentucky, is demanding answers after alleging her 7-year-old non-verbal autistic son, Semaj, was abused by a staff member at his school, Field Elementary, according to reports from WDRB, WLKY, and Wave 3 News. Concerned by repeated complaints from the school about her son’s behavior, Lee said she began to question whether the reports reflected what was truly happening in the classroom. She ordered a hidden camera to place on her son, desperate to find out what was going on.

According to Lee, the behavior described by school staff was drastically different from the child she knew at home. Semaj, who is autistic and non-verbal, had never displayed the extreme behaviors school officials claimed he was exhibiting.

“This all started because over the course of months, I was flooded with calls and complaints about my child’s behavior — behavior that was not typical, not normal, and not something that, as his parents, we had ever seen in our sweet child,” Lee said during a May 15 press conference. “As his mother, I knew in my heart something was not right.”

Florida daycare worker LaKayla Hamilton has been charged with two counts of Aggravated Child Abuse after allegedly assaulting a 3-month-old infant in her care at a daycare facility on School Avenue in Florida. WDHN & Law & Crime, reported the facility was Quality Learning Child Care Center, Inc. in Panama City, Florida. According to a May 16 Facebook update from the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, Hamilton allegedly admitted she “spazzed out” on the infant because of “personal issues and receiving an additional text message that intensified her anger.”

A woman from Chicago’s Gage Park neighborhood is facing two felony murder charges after authorities accused her of stabbing her one-month-old daughter. According to a press release from the Chicago Police Department, 25-year-old Tatiana Maxwell was arrested on May 15 at approximately 8:45 a.m. in the 5800 block of South Maryland Avenue after allegedly stabbing her infant daughter moments earlier inside their home near the 3000 block of West 59th Street in Chicago’s 8th District. The baby was identified as Nyhnia Stovall, according to reports from the Chicago Sun-Times and CBS News Chicago.
