Tasha Beamon, a 48-year-old woman from Michigan, is facing multiple charges after allegedly holding her sister-in-law captive in a basement for nearly two years, according to reports from People, Michigan Live, and ABC 12 News.

Beamon was arraigned April 6 and charged with one count of unlawful imprisonment and one count of first-degree vulnerable adult abuse in connection with the shocking incident that came to light in March.

According to Michigan Live, police in Saginaw, Michigan, were responding to a vandalism complaint on March 15 when they discovered a 58-year-old malnourished woman who said she had just escaped from a home on the 1600 block of Gilbert Street. Authorities were alerted after a resident called 911 upon seeing the woman break a neighbor’s window. 

Authorities said the woman was held captive in inhumane conditions.

Prosecutors allege the woman told officers she had been confined against her will in the basement of her sister-in-law’s home at 1635 Gilbert St. for the past two years. She reportedly said she had only just managed to escape and broke the window to draw attention and get help. The woman, whose identity has not been released, described the conditions as dangerous and inhumane.

The “Big Guy” rapper allegedly refused to pay $20,000 for the 25 custom wigs she ordered from The Bella Brand, didn’t take the order, and slammed the brand on social media, and is now facing a deposition.

Per TMZ Hip Hop:

The legal drama started in 2025 when Spice was first slapped with the suit for allegedly reneging on a discounted $20,000 deal for the 25 custom-made wigs.

The docs say Spice signed a contract for Alexis to create the one-of-a-kind wigs, but Thee Bella Brand claims Spice didn’t make good on her promise to pay or take delivery of the wigs … and then went on to tarnish the reputation of Alexis and her wigs on social media when things went awry between them.

What’s more, the lawsuit claims the lies spread by Spice and her team caused major reputational damage to Alexis that cost her thousands of dollars after she temporarily lost a repeat celebrity customer.

According to the celebrity gossip site, The Bella Brand is suing Ice Spice for breach of contract and seeking $400K in compensatory and punitive damages from the Hip-Hop superstar.

The company’s attorney, Justin Mungai, of ChaudhryLaw, told TMZ Hip Hop that the deposition date is scheduled for late April, but also says that it could change due to scheduling conflicts.

In a statement to the website, Mungai said, “This is what entitlement looks like. Fame is not immunity from the law. Ice Spice will be held accountable.”

Ice Spice did not respond when reached out to for comment.

As previously reported, court documents obtained by TMZ revealed this week that Sidora has been ordered to temporarily move out of the Georgia residence she shares with Pittman by May 31. A judge determined that, due to the “current financial circumstances of the parties,” both will continue to split household expenses until her departure.

If you want to piss off conservatives, you don’t accuse them of racism outright. You show how they’ve laundered power through policy language so cleanly and deviously, they can look you right in the face and say, “We didn’t do anything racist.”

This is what just happened at the University of Missouri, where administrators announced that five major multicultural student organizations—including the Legion of Black Collegians, the Association of Latin American Students, and the Queer Liberation Front—will lose their direct university funding starting in July 2026.

Instead, those groups will be reclassified as standard “Recognized Student Organizations” and forced to compete with more than 600 other campus clubs for limited funds in a shared pool. Their existing funding, often tens of thousands of dollars annually, will disappear and be replaced by capped, competitive allocations that student leaders say will make it nearly impossible to sustain their programming or operations. 

University officials say the move is necessary to comply with federal guidance tied to diversity, equity, and inclusion policies, specifically a memo from the U.S. Department of Justice. The Trump administration has been explicitly signaling that schools risk losing federal money if they maintain DEI programs. And not just signaling, but building enforcement mechanisms around it. There are proposals requiring universities to certify that they are not engaging in what the government defines as “DEI practices” in order to receive federal funds. But that DOJ memo is not law. It’s nonbinding, interpretive, and ultimately optional guidance. 

So what does that actually mean in practice?

It means these universities are choosing to interpret that guidance in the most extreme way possible. They are choosing to preemptively dismantle programs, withdraw funding, restructure systems, and redraw the boundaries of who and what gets institutional support. And then they are presenting those choices as inevitable, as if their hands were tied, as if they had no discretion, and as if this outcome was forced.

It wasn’t.

West Coast rap has always had its own kind of gravity. From the early days when California artists were carving out a voice separate from New York, to the G-funk explosion that made the region a cultural force, the coast built a sound that felt sunny, hard, funky, fly, and deeply rooted in Black life. And as we celebrate the Black women whose stories, style and impact deserve extra love this month, it only makes sense to make space for the women who helped shape that legacy too. The men may have gotten most of the headlines for years, but the women have always been right there — pushing the sound forward, checking the room and making sure West Coast rap never belonged to just one kind of voice.

What makes West Coast women in rap so dope is that they have never all moved in the same way. Some brought pure lyricism. Some brought swagger and street talk. Some leaned into party records, some into activism, some into underground respect, and some into full-on crossover appeal. That range is really the point. The evolution of West Coast rap is not just about how the sound changed from the ’80s to now; it is also about more women stepping to the front, demanding visibility, and proving that the coast’s story sounds fuller when their names are fully included.

And that is what makes a list like this fun, but also tricky. “Best” is always going to start arguments, especially with a region this rich. The tennis champion is speaking out after receiving backlash over her hair in a recent luxury campaign. Coco is right at home on the tennis court in Miu Miu’s latest editorial, appearing with the brand’s Vivant handbag.

The ad was clearly meant to get the girls ready for spring with a hot new purse (and some playful, sporty flair). Instead, some chose to focus on everything but the bag, zeroing in on Coco’s hair.

Some social media commenters said they thought her hair looked messy or not polished enough for the campaign. Others joked about her overall look.

But Coco did what Coco does. She responded with grace and confidence, saying exactly what needed to be said.

‘My 4C Hair Is Good Enough’: Coco Gauff Claps Back

“I did my everyday hair and makeup because that was personally the point,” Gauff reportedly said on TikTok in response. “My 4C hair is good enough for a high-fashion brand like Miu Miu to promote one of their newest launches. So if my hair is good enough for that, then yours is good enough to do whatever you need it to do.”

What feels sad, and honestly exhausting about this situation, is that this is far from the first time a Black female athlete has faced this kind of scrutiny. Simone Biles and Gabby Douglas have both dealt with it. Serena and Venus Williams have too. Whether the criticism comes during competition or in a luxury campaign, it is unnecessary and stems from the same tired bias.

Black women should not have to keep defending their beauty, their choices, or the way their natural hair shows up in the world.

Still, Coco took the moment and turned it into something bigger. She used it to remind other Brown girls, especially girls with hair like hers, that they do not need anyone else’s approval.

She added, “At the end of the day, people who hate on your appearance and hate on the way that you look have something deeply insecure about themselves. The only reason people comment on people’s looks, especially people who present themselves in their most natural sense, have something deeply wrong with them.”

To Coco, stay beautiful and unbothered. Keep collecting your luxury checks, winning competitions, protecting your peace, and showing up exactly as you are. Period.

Detroit rapper Siditty has been allegedly shot and killed, according to reports.

Qualeisha Barnes, also known as Siditty, was identified as the victim of multiple gunshot wounds in Atlanta on Wednesday morning. According to the Atlanta Police Department, officers responded to calls at Springside Plaves around 1:36 a.m., where they discovered the rapper inside a Range Rover suffering from gunshot wounds.

Following the tragic news, members of Barnes’ family spoke about the loss. Her sister, Shatara Davis, spoke with 11Alive News about the woman she knew beyond the music. 

“I know her as Qualeisha. I know her as LeLe. I know her as we, in the same house, in the same bed. That’s what I know her as. All that friend stuff, I don’t care about none of that. That was my sister. That was my baby.”

The victim’s mother also told the news station that Barnes was 14 weeks pregnant at the time of her death, making the loss even more devastating for the family.

Siditty was building a promising music career and was known for standout records such as “Get A Check,” “Turnt,” and “To Da Bank.” Throughout her career, she collaborated with notable names in the Detroit rap scene including Icewear Vezzo, Babyface Ray, and Peezy.

Authorities have not yet released details regarding a suspect or motive as the investigation continues.

For years, fans of the beloved ’90s sitcom Family Matters have wondered about the fate of Jaimee Foxworth, the actress who portrayed Judy Winslow, the youngest member of the Winslow family. After four seasons, she was suddenly written off the show, and the question remains: what happened? Darius McCrary, who played her older brother, Eddie Winslow, recently shared some insight into the behind-the-scenes drama that may have influenced Foxworth’s exit.

Darius McCrary claims family matters behind the scenes played a role in Jaimee Foxworth’s abrupt exit.

According to McCrary, there were family dynamics at play that potentially affected her success on the show.

“It’s a trip, man, how none of us could do anything to save her,” McCrary said in an interview with The Art of Dialogue released April 7. He went on to claim during the episode, “And part of the reason was because of her mother. And I’m not saying this to attack her mom in any way or be negative,” he clarified.

While he offered praise for Foxworth’s mother, Gwyn Foxx, who managed her career, McCrary made a comparison to how his own mother advocated for him behind the scenes and while on set.

“You just got to be smart about it. Like I said, my mama was smart about how she moved, and she got it. My mama got everything she wanted,” McCrary explained.

The Hollywood star also credited his mother for the rise of actor Shawn Harrison, who played Eddie’s lovable but clueless friend Waldo Faldo on Family Matters.

“Part of the reason why they had Waldo on the show is because my mom had low-key kind of got at the producers about Eddie Winslow not being dumb,” McCrary shared. “So they brought in Waldo.” He continued, “They were able to write certain jokes for Shawn where he carried that burden ‘cause my mom didn’t want [me] to portray a young, dumb Black [kid], because she knew that was going to resonate with an audience.”

Reflecting on Foxworth’s departure, Darius McCrary, now 49, noted that he didn’t think her mother had the “same” level of drive when it came to negotiating for her daughter. 

He added, “Let’s just say this, man, there’s a lot that comes with being a child star. Most of them don’t make it. Look, we’re sitting here talking to you. My career has spanned 40 years. Man, do you know how blessed I am and I feel to be able to say that? Now, I will take credit for showing up and doing the work and having the perseverance and the dog in me, no matter what, to continue going, but it’s also by design. And I have to give credit to my family for being the support system and that constant motivating force.”

Family Matters which aired from 1989 to 1997, followed the Winslow family from Chicago, which originally consisted of patriarch Carl (Reginald VelJohnson); his wife Harriette (Jo Marie Payton); their children Eddie (Darius McCrary), Laura (Kellie Shanygne Williams), and Judy (Jaimee Foxworth); and Grandma Estelle, known as “Momma Winslow” (Rosetta LeNoire).

By the middle of the first season, viewers were introduced to the iconic Steve Urkel (Jaleel White), the nerdy, high-pants-wearing character who became an essential part of the Winslow family dynamic. As Urkel’s character began to gain popularity, producers decided to focus more on him, along with the addition of Harriette’s nephew, Richie, and his mother, Rachel Crawford (Thelma Hopkins). Despite the shift, it wasn’t long before Judy Winslow, who had been an integral part of the family, was abruptly sent to her room and never seen again.

Jaimee Foxworth says this is why she was given the boot from Family Matters.

This curious disappearance of Judy became a pop culture reference, and fans were left wondering what happened. In 2017, when the Family Matters cast reunited for a cover story and photoshoot with Entertainment Weekly, Foxworth was again notably absent.

During an interview with the Root that year, she offered her own perspective on the situation.

Foxworth, now 46, believes that the rise of Urkel’s popularity played a major role in her character’s diminishing presence on the show. 

“The producers felt that they could do it and no one would notice. They’d done it with previous shows they had. They figured no one would really care. My fans took notice of it,” Foxworth said. “They figured they could just throw me away, no explanation at all. Some of my cast members knew before I did.” 

Despite co-star Jo Marie Payton fighting for her to stay, the producers ultimately decided to write her off the show.

“It affected my self-esteem as an actress. And I started feeling like I wasn’t good at my job,” Foxworth admitted.

After Family Matters, Foxworth’s acting career stagnated. She briefly joined a hip-hop girl group called S.H.E., alongside her sisters Tyren Perry and Jania Perry, but when that venture flopped, she turned to adult films in the early 2000s, adopting the stage name “Crave.”

Early in her career, the award-winning actress found herself delivering some unexpected tough love to fellow Hollywood icon Whoopi Goldberg while filming the 1995 movie Boys on the Side, a bold move that even caught her off guard.

During a March 17 appearance on Baby, This Is Keke Palmer, Nash-Betts, 56, recalled landing a small role in the film, including a scene outside a diner with Goldberg’s character, Jane DeLuca. At the time, she said she was unemployed, navigating a breakup, and focused on providing for her children, so making the most of the opportunity meant everything.

“Do not touch us. Stop touching us. Don’t poke me or tap me or wiggle your fingers on my arm. I have a name tag,” shared one anonymous flight attendant during a 2025 interview with Travel + Leisure.

If you need their attention, your voice works perfectly well.

“Ma’am” or “excuse me” will usually do the trick.

“We appreciate it when people use their words, and poking and shaking items like trash in our faces is beyond annoying and rude,” another attendant added.

And perhaps the most direct request of all, “Poking me or touching me on any part of my body in an attempt to get my attention — don’t. Just please don’t.”

A disturbing video has resurfaced, showing a Black woman being violently dragged out of a Bradley, Illinois bar by a white man, who now faces charges of felony battery and a hate crime. In the footage, 27-year-old Vinisha Sherrod is seen being forcefully handled by Nicholas Monacelli, allegedly resulting in a broken thumb and some of her hair being ripped out.

The incident took place on Dec. 23, 2025, at Mac & Frankie’s bar, a spot Sherrod and her friends frequented. Surveillance footage, as reported by ABC7 Chicago, shows Monacelli glaring at Sherrod, as she, her girlfriend and a friend sat down next to him at the bar. Shortly after, he allegedly called Sherrod the N-word.

“I did nothing wrong. I never even looked his way,” Sherrod said in an interview with ABC7 Chicago on Jan. 16.

Surveillance footage shows Vinisha Sherrod being physically pulled out of Mac & Frankie’s bar by Nicholas Monacelli.

What began as a normal night out quickly turned chaotic. After Monacelli hurled the racial slur, Sherrod and her friends were asked to leave by the bar’s manager. Before she could even finish her drink, Sherrod claimed a bartender tried to snatch it from her hand, triggering violence, as the surveillance footage reflects.

“All I know is just, like, a bunch of white men just come grabbing me, and forcing me out,” she recounted. “The white man who called me the N-word, he still had me while I was out the establishment… That’s when I, like, hit the ground, and I just heard my thumb crack.”

Cellphone footage of the incident shows Monacelli pressing his arm against Sherrod’s neck as he drags her into the street. When she tried to resist, he allegedly grabbed her braids, pulling out some of her hair before she fell to the ground, breaking her thumb. A second man appeared, seemingly ready to intervene, but Sherrod’s friend warned him off, saying, “You better get your a– back, because ain’t nobody did nothing to y’all,” her friend yelled.

Concerns surrounding popular GLP-1 weight-loss drugs are mounting once again. After “Ozempic face” made headlines, a far more serious complication is now drawing legal scrutiny: reports of blindness. 

According to Drugwatch and Reuters, lawsuits have increased since 2025 from users of Ozempic who claim the medication may trigger Nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION), sometimes referred to as an “eye stroke.” The condition occurs when blood flow to the optic nerve is interrupted, potentially causing sudden, painless and permanent blindness.

The legal filings follow research suggesting GLP-1 users could face a heightened risk of developing NAION, Drugwatch reported.

“NAION … is a very serious and life-altering injury that can be caused by use of Ozempic or Wegovy,” Danielle Gold, an attorney at Weitz & Luxenberg, told Drugwatch during a Jan. 30 interview. “Novo Nordisk continues to promote and sell these products without any warning or discussion in their label regarding a risk of permanent vision loss.”

As of December 2025, court records cited by Reuters show 30 optic neuropathy lawsuits pending in federal court and more than 40 in state courts. Given expectations that additional cases will be filed, Ozempic-related blindness claims have been consolidated at both the state and federal levels, placing them before single judges to streamline proceedings. NAION cases were grouped in New Jersey state court in November and in federal court in December.

A beloved dog named Koko has been joyfully reunited with her family after being missing for two years. According to People, officials from the Clark Township Police Department hosted a special reunion on March 7 for Koko and her owner after the dog was spotted wandering near a shopping mall in Clark, New Jersey, just days earlier.

In a press release issued on March 9, the department explained that a concerned citizen called to report a lost dog “roaming around the Clark Commons” shopping center on March 4. Patrolman Nick Kurus responded to the call and safely took Koko in. Officers then located a microchip reader and scanned the dog, which successfully identified the pup’s owners.

According to Fox 4, a Texas woman named Gloria Greer has been identified as Koko’s owner.

When did Koko go missing?

When officers contacted Koko’s owner, she was shocked and told police that Koko had disappeared in 2024 from their home in Glenn Heights, Texas. Exactly how the dog managed to travel halfway across the country remains unknown. But overwhelmed with excitement and relief, Greer “immediately made plans” to fly to New Jersey to bring her beloved pet home. During that time, Koko also quickly won over the hearts of the officers caring for her. 

“Rather than being sent to a shelter, members of the Clark Township Police Department cared for the dog the next 3 days,” the department said in the press release. “During that time, Clark Police personnel bathed the dog, fed and provided treats, walked it regularly, and provided blankets and toys to keep her comfortable.”

The press release addd, “Despite continuing their regular police duties, personnel made sure the dog was well cared for.” The department also noted that some of the supplies used to care for Koko were even “purchased by department members out of their own pockets.”

Koko had a beautiful reunion with Greer and was seen “running” to her.

Police said Koko was seen “running right to her mommy” when her owner arrived to pick up the long-lost pup on Saturday. She was “extremely grateful for the care and compassion the Clark Police showed for her dog,” according to police.

1. The Braxton Sisters

Many people fell in love with Toni Braxton, 57, (and her pixie cut) in the ’90s. She embedded her unique and elegant vocals into infamous tracks like “Unbreak My Heart” and “Breathe Again.” In the 2000s, she stepped into her pop era giving fans everlasting hits like “He Wasn’t Man Enough For Me.” 

But in 2011, Toni’s younger fans, or ones that didn’t know her background, would soon learn she wasn’t the only talented Braxton in her family. In her family’s reality TV show, The Braxton Family Values, viewers were introduced to her four sisters. Traci, who passed away at age 50, Towanda, 51, Trina, 50 and Tamar, 48, and Toni all sang together while growing up in Maryland. They were even signed as a group in 1989 before Toni went solo. 

After they disbanded, Tamar also had a music career of her own. She has five studio albums and released her first in 2000. However, she really began to capture attention when she released Love and War in 2013.
