My New Logo!

I'd like to present to you my new logo, it took me long enough. I'm gonna be using this logo for everything, and of course i'd take away the texture just cause its pointless if i make it smaller. I did have plans for this logo to be like T-shirts and stuff, but it wont work unless i can have this super big on the shirt. I also wanted it to be a sticker and logo for all my books. But we'll see, its all about the games right now, and the YouTube page. I forget how long it took but it was pretty long. Reasoning to do it? I really just wanted to do it XD When I have this idea to try out I always have to go for it. If art isn't about exploring your mind and your ability then why do it, right?

Whoa I Just Keep Dissapearing

So sorry for neglecting this blog, who ever was reading this. Now that the rest of my networks are doing good I can work on blogger site and give you guys more work to look at and stuff. So I've been doing a lot of stuff, games, comics, and more artworks. Even a lot of YouTube stuff too, and also DYVtv stuff.

So I'm gonna try to do sketching per day and this is one i did today. This one guy is basically in the works because I saw this photograph of a dude and I just noticed how neat he looked and then his arms had all these tattoos. It just got me all sorts of ideas, about a character with these living tattoos in his arms. It just looked really cool so I had to note it.

The next picture is a bigger project to which I wont start till next year. I am basically gonna re-do Charlie comic into Helios. This way I get to really push the entire world's story for everyone to enjoy. I had a real problem with the old Charlie style and I felt like I was just pretending to be someone I'm not. This is pretty much gonna be how I wanna stay as so I can be true to myself. I wanna pile up the detail now a days because I just can't get enough of it. Lets Explore Bau Xi Gallery

I recently visited a gallery with my sis, Helen Hsu. The gallery is called Bau Xi and they were nice enough to let us go around the gallery and talk about art and show off their work. It was alot of fun talking about lighting and color and see all the great work that was in the place. I don't get to spend alot of time with Helen but when i do we always have a great time. We mostly talk about arts and what we're working on currently. We also talk about writing and notes on stuff we want to write about. Her humor also is pretty much as crazy as mine... So we laugh hysterically in front of strangers lol.

I kept talking to her about YouTube also and how much fun it is to make videos. So we kept thinking about what kind of ways we could make videos. So she thought of filming us going through galleries, perfect! So this is our first video but i still don't know what to call this show, and which day to post it... seems like we're gonna be posting it on Saturdays. I've left it for her to come up with a name for this show and i will be concentrating on reviving Doodle Tuesdays! that's right! i'm bringin it back! and this time i got better at drawing on camera... wait... that part's not tru lol. But yes i will revive it so look out! your Tuesday just got better! (great i just psyched myself...)PEACE AND LUV EVERYONE!

Here's a little preview of our new short project, me and my brother are working on for FMS Games. I've grown to like working with my brother on projects very closely, It's fun to give him the art content right away as he puts them all together to make a game. With any luck we could be ready to make 48 hour games. This game is pretty much a top down shoot'em up game, as you may have already noticed we love spaceships lol. This may not come with the first version of this game but i was experimenting with normal maps with this particular kind of work. Normally i would make the digital painting into a 3d model and that way we have actual 3 dimension. But i thought it would be interesting if i just used normal maps since the image is on a plane which makes it like a sprite in a sense. I am still experimenting on how can i make it look great and it will also affect the light set up on each stage so i will need to make it on the next build. hopefully we can get this game live by next weekend. ^_^

I have been also trying to create more stuff to upload to my blog but my main concern is my youtube account. I need to make more videos and i just need time to make more of it. Anyway peace and luv everyone!!

Holy cow i have a blog

It has been way too long since I've blogged, and i feel like i need to do an update. I've been occupied through other websites and projects we were hustling to finish. Ever since I started the company with my friend Plato, things have gotten hectic and amazing. I was back to working with other major companies on their projects through motion capture work, and also develop our own work.

I manage to get a space in the building as our concept studio, but more of less the DYV space, well in my eyes it is. I thought i could bring in my friends of DYV but i was only able to bring in some of the youngins and once in awhile Mark joins in. We managed to get a sample of FG1981 going, which we will be changing to Retro81 cause its easier to say. I am going back in to coding once my responsibilities as a Producer dims down a bit, but I'm afraid it doesn't slow down ever, so maybe on the weekends lol.

Everything seems to have gotten better for me and the best part was that my girlfriend is moving in with me, well, once we find an apartment. She inspires me and keeps me going.

We were also in FanExpo to promote our first major project called Phoenix Diaries, produced by my friend Plato. MeiLin helped me promote the whole thing, oh and she also surprised me with a cake cause it was my birthday at the time.

The guys also were there to help promote.

So things are picking up and we're hustling to finish some trailers and stuff. Even if things were going great, bad things still happens, right? well i don't wanna bore you with the details but a couple of days ago my van got broken into and they stole my laptop with my new wacom tablet. Since i'm still struggling with things, my van wasn't insured well. So basically i had to pay for the window, and i can't get money for my stolen items. So yeah gotta keep moving, other wise i should just sit and cry till i shoot myself cause i can't move on.
The other thing too was that i got this comment from a person online about how i should stop saying i'm gonna make a game and make a company and i didn't do anything. I don't really wanna get into it but i just wanna say, that comment was made after my first mini game was done. He/She wasn't able to play the game i suppose because they didn't install the unity webplayer. I thought it was too bad, but i just wonder why people say mean things, but don't say their real names or even show something that makes them a better person? oh well not really something i wanna know lol just thought i should share that tid bit of information. So much stuff is happening and its hard for me to document it or blog it, but this time i will definitely try. I am finally able to monetize my youtube account so it definitely motivated me to make more videos. But my domain name is in some red tape so i might have to wait before i can get that back. For now i am going to transform my DYV site into a full on cool site! lol And make this site more appealing and blog alot more. Here's to me keeping my word!! PEACE AND LUV YA'LL!!

Okay so coming up with a reason why i am blogging and why i should draw and so forth, I've been planning my focus for the past few months. Since my work life has now gotten more exciting and better, I have managed to focus my art life as something greater. So i wanted to call this part of my art career as, Special. Special meaning everything i make will have a special place in my heart. There will be stuff made for people to have but I also will be making things special just for me.

For example, I have made this box that i was going to put a shirt inside and make it a Special Edition box. Literally just now, i came up with binding my own Art book filled with every single good work i have made and just make one. I am finally going to make my Not June book. I didn't want to make a book for awhile because i feel that i have not made enough artwork to fill a thick book like i wanted to. A lot of people always tell me to just compromise and make a thinner one or something, but i like making the effort to achieve my challenge. So what will it consist of?

Well since it is just for me in a way and for the luv of my life, let me just list it down.

Makina series
Shirt Designs (with the photo of a model wearing it)
Items I've made for myself
comic pages of my stuff
doodles i loved
photographs of work i did
A lot of Narration of each work.

There are alot of things I wanna be successful at and sure even make some money. But one thing I wanna get straightened out is that I write on this blog not to be famous, I write for myself and for anyone who would like to get to know me. I have been blogging on this site for 3 years but I've been blogging on blogger since 2001, I'm not new to blogging. On other blog sites I had planned on getting followers to gain web traffic, but this site is pretty personal. This blog is for friends I have gained through for the love of Art, and I share to my followers what I have been up to. When I say purpose, I mean maybe something existing followers can take from a post. Something substantial that a reader can get from, when I read through my comments on Youtube, I find that i have alot of teenage kids wanting to know more about Art. I feel that I have gained some responsibility to help them along their journey to become a professional Artist, thus the thought of being more resourceful. I don't think I have anything else to add to this so I will just say that, I appreciate all you followers, I am very great-full that you all still follow me. I don't wanna create content to get more followers, I wanna keep blogging to connect with my existing, followers. Peace and Luv!

Madds Focus

Okay so i've been doing some refocusing and since my new company has started, i'm going to move the game development stuff to FMS-games.com and all the drawing and comics stuff will stay here. since it's a DYV matter and everything. I've decided to really push myself to get Charlie and so i have decided to redraw the whole thing from chapter 1. I wanted to do this so that i can change the character design just a little bit so i can have more facial expressions (adding the nose and stuff) and re-proportioning the body too was something i needed to do. I have been testing the new character design in different poses and i feel so much better with them. Also i wanted to start again with the right size paper and weight, so that i can add all the detail i so luv doing. I am basically planning on indulging myself with as much detail i can put in every background ^_^.

So I have been coding stuff for awhile and constantly learning Unity stuff. But it's been awhile since I actually uploaded anything on the blog about it. Alot of the stuff we're working on can't be shown which really sucks, so i'm making a basic game to get our company out there but i'm also experimenting on making a blog to show the development on it. So yesterday I was contemplating on making a basic shooter game that I've always wanted to make. So I decided to get started on it, now the whole game looks very primitive and it doesn't even have a score system on it yet. But i was too excited to now show anything, and with the interest of this blog, i wanted to only post it here. I will be making updates on the progress of this game, hopefully i can even put cool models on it and stuff.

Munny World x Madd Sketch

I almost forgot to post these but then again i have 2 more to finish off. It's been awhile since I've posted artwork here actually. My usual schedule is the studio stuff and teaching, but it seams like i can put that aside for awhile and really focus on the game studio. So when I get home I get to focus on my artwork, it's very nice to really set game development aside and focus on just drawing. I get to really explore more ideas (at least with the size i can fit to work with) and really just be free. Also I'm just trying to pull out some of the ones i didn't finish and really just finalize Makina because i owe it that much. Who knows where and when i can do a show with all of this, i have like 10 more clean woods and papers i wanna work on so we'll see.

The thing about these guys are that i got these stickers when i bought a Munny in early 2010. Since then i've been doodling on the toy and the vinyl seems to be hating my micron pens. Then suddenly in my drawers as i was looking through for some more pens i saw the stickers. I thought maybe its my pens that are running out, so i doodled on the sticker and i started just going off. Originally i thought of a cover surface and have the tech stuff be underneath through the cracks and stuff. But then i thought what if i just went at it and did it all over. So since i did the original munny that way i thought i should do the rest. Hopefully i can finish it and move on with the toy and the other surfaces i'm gonna do all this stuff on.

To bring this back to my personal days of blogger, when I used to just say stuff here. I'd say 2010 was a Roller Coaster of different, maybes and could haves. I made a lot of choices last year were made and in the beginning i was very scared and unsure. Becoming 29 made me re-think my life, and where it's going. I was scared but someone changed all of it and opened it up to be something amazing. I experimented a lot with my life, and how i make decisions. I learned about control and focus more than i have ever. With the mind set that i switched myself to, everything opened up.

This new year i will now have to take actions to the paths i have taken. I have been so used to having doors shut on my face, it's taking me quite a bit of time to get used to the idea of getting such an amazing opportunity. Starting Monday my life is gonna get faster and harder than I have ever gone through, and i absolutely cannot wait. I feel that all my ups and downs have prepared me for this moment and i am now ready. I am so lucky to find such great people and care for me so much.

This year I am now working at Fast Motion Studios running the FMS Game Company. We are working hard with some new games and most of my time is on that. But i didn't want to leave my artistic side so I am also pushing to get another studio space to work on paintings and comics with some people. I am hoping my best friend comes back so that we can do an ArtShow together, so i will save up to have a studio space for that. Currently i can focus on Art Stuff at home and work stays at the current studio. I love the balance i can create between games and art, it has made my mind so clear and focused. So Madd Sketch is the first promoted artist in StudioDYV and Gero World is coming back this year. The studio is still small since i am still working out the legalities and stuff. But right now the Artists of the studio is Exablitz and MaddSketch, I am gonna try to bring in my best friend Elle in it but nothing is concrete on that.

Life is great and I cannot wait to show you all what i have been working on for the past few months. Happy New Years to everyone
