The Weeks To Come...

I have exhaustion oozing from my eyeballs!!!! They could use a good soaking in a mix of coffee, redbull and coke for the next few weeks with as much as we have going on.

With that being said, I will be taking the next 2 Weeks as a "break" from updating my daily life with the world to finish the madness of festivies while soaking up the time with my sweet little monster boys. I have tons to update on between the Pay It Forward delivery, The Big Texas Toy Run, Kylon's waterfall hiney and the M-A-N-Y Christmas gatherings I have in the next 7 days :)

Weekend Wrap-Up

Friday night after work we headed out to the Christ Kindl Market to check out the different German items on display.

Saturday we got up EARLY as usual - thank you Kylon!!!!! Did a bit around the house before a friend of mine came over and showed me the different Cutco items for purchase. I grew up in my dad's house using this stuff and they are the best freaking knives ever. If you are interested in getting your own set, please let me know and I'll get you his information. Lunch with my friend Jenne, Paxton and Avilee before we headed north to Nocona Hills, Texas to celebrate Dad Dad's 75th birthday. Nana passed away in January 2012 so we drug out all her decorations and put up the tree for him. My Nana was a H-O-A-R-D-E-R I tell ya, HOARDER!!!!! This woman didn't have one of each item, she had like 50 and most of the crap still had tags on it. Nana, seriously what were you going to do with 8 different green wreaths?

Oh and I am the newest owner of a BB Gun, thank you Dad Dad!

He showed me how to use it and reassured me that it wasn't that serious of a deadly weapon but I'm still scared shitless so this is remaining in the closet until Uncle Bryan, Uncle Blake, Uncle Colton, Uncle Brady, Uncle Warren or Uncle Clay come to visit.

We can home Sunday around lunch time to put stuff away from the trip and then veg for the rest of the afternoon. It was nice just watching Christmas movies throughout the day while the kids ran wild throughout the house.

2 Weeks until Christmas and I still have about 95% shopping left to conquer while getting everything together for the Pay It Forward family. We still have plenty of Christmas activities planned between now and then, gift exchanges and of course the The Big Texas Toy Run which will be this coming Saturday, December 15th.

This year was rather tough on our family when Brett was killed on his motorcycle in March. However, with the love of family, friends and many strangers we received more blessings than ever imagined. We will never get Brett (husband/father) back but we are in a good place financially to never have to worry. My boys have food, have presents, have clothes, have a warm bed and so much more!!!!

This obviously isn't the case for all families throughout the world. I've been blessed and now it is time to "pay it forward."

"I'm writing in about my sister and her family. My sister and brother in law have two beautiful children, two girls ages 4 and 8. A few months ago my sister came down with some health issues which have caused her to have to cut back on her work hours. Her family was already struggling financially, worrying about paying the mortgage and car payments, and then she had to cut her work hours down. She is now struggling to buy enough food, and called me crying the other day because she had run out of peanut butter and bread and her girls were still hungry and it was two days before payday. She is so stressed out that it worries me greatly. Both of her girls have birthdays in December. This is the first year that she has told the girls they cannot have a birthday party. She simply cannot afford to buy birthday gifts and decorations, much less pay for a party for school friends. And she has made peace with that, we are having a small family get-together for the girls birthdays. But what is really stressing her out is Christmas. She can explain to the girls that she doesn't have money for Christmas gifts - but how do you explain that SANTA doesn't have money to bring gifts? I wish I could help her, I am trying when I can to bring food, but my husband and I have 6 kids ourselves and are just making ends meet this Christmas.I would love if someone could help my sister by getting a few things for Santa to bring her girls. Nothing big or expensive, just stocking stuffers and maybe one or two toys or stuffed animals would make such a huge difference, allowing the girls to wake up Christmas morning to the magic of the crumbs on the cookie plate right next to a stocking of gifts. Any help would be greatly appreciated!"

These two little girls deserve a birthday party with presents to celebrate their one special day a year! These two little girls deserve Christmas presents under the tree to make the season brighter! This mom and dad deserve a break from financial stresses! This mom and dad deserve a date night alone out to dinner to eat yummy food they didn't cook, have a glass of wine and just check out mentally from their current hardship!

Dec 15th in the afternoon and I will be delivering all the supplies and presents to make this birthday just like all the ones before! Christmas is a few weeks so we have a bit more time to collect donations.

A Visit From Santa

Monday after work when Auntie Kel-Razy dropped Ky off from his weekend visit down south we scooped up brother and headed home for the evening to do our normal night time routine!

When we arrived home and sat down at the table Ky paid no attention to the gift sitting there with his name on it.

As you can tell - after he realized it was for him he was excited and said "a present for me?" Let's see who it is from!

Oh my!!!!! Santa brought you a present before Christmas telling you that you have been a good boy this year and need to continue to be good until he comes to visit :)

He scored some great goodies to kick of the Christmas season. That night once brother was in bed we snuggled up on the couch and I read him "Twas the night before Christmas" in hopes that we could start a tradition - that child could've cared less. WAH WAH WAH! F-A-I-L

Instead we worked on the puzzle and called it a night.

I just put the last stamp on the Christmas Cards for this year and they are out in the mail today so I refuse to spoil the surprise with the image chosen this year...

However, I did take a picture of the back just to give you an idea of what I was working with here and my final product was amazing!!!!!

The scroll shaped cards really tugged at my heartstrings because they were different yet so elegant. I know many of you are thinking "well Amber, it is a little too late for ordering Christmas cards don't you think!!!!" and yes I thoroughly agree but that is the amazing thing about Paper Coterie they have so many different things you can buy!!!!

Four different Thanksgivings - tons of food, tons of people and tons of fun!!!! Saturday was spent at home for the majority of the day resting before Auntie Kel-Razy got her babies. She took the boys out to our Aunt's house while I did some much needed shopping and then curled up on the couch to watch a Christmas movie. Sunday was spent picking up the house and getting everything out and setup for Christmas - tonight we decorate the tree :)

1. What do you look forward to more: the food, football or parades?

please tell me this question is a joke???? F-O-O-D!!!!!! Every single year I would look forward to my Nana's dressing (don't you dare call it stuffing cause she will give you the evil eye). As you may know Nana passed away in January from a very short battle with lung cancer and I am so glad her husband "Dad-Dad" knows how she makes it cause our Thanksgiving would definitely not be the same. Love you Nana :)

2. What is your favorite non-traditional Thanksgiving Day dish?

my Aunt Shannon makes this bow tie pasta with spinach and roasted pine nuts and sun dried tomatoes and it is dang good - I should get her recipe and post it here for ya'll

3. After dinner, is it football or a nap?

with my mom's side of the family we just all go and chill in the living room on the couch while the kiddos act like crazy. enjoy some nice conversation with everyone while eating pie and drinking a hot cup of coffee. with my dad's side of the family it is a bit ridiculous!!!!! the guys all hunker down in the couch to ~~watch football~~ nap while the kids again run around like chickens with their heads cut off. The adults and other kiddos usually play a round of spoons and if someone new is attending Thanksgiving we play Spanish Horse Races :)

4. Do you watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade? Which is your favorite float?

I'm sure it is on in the background somewhere but usually between getting myself and the kids dressed for the day there is no time to sit and enjoy the parade. I don't care for the floats as much as I do the dancing and marching bands.

5. Where do you go to celebrate and eat your big meal? Who is there (family, friends)?

Are ya'll ready for this? Seriously you need to be sitting down!!!! Wednesday evening after work is my mom's side of the family dinner where we will be staying the night (Lipan, Tx), getting up to get dressed and head over to Brett's Grannie Annie house for lunch (Colleyville, Tx), and then off to my dad's house for dessert since they will have already had lunch (Combine, Tx) where we will stay the night and then get up Friday morning to hang out for a bit before heading to my step-mom Tami's house for dinner (Mansfield, Tx) where again we will stay the night and get up the next morning to hang out for a bit before heading home to call wrap up the Tour de Texas of Thanksgiving and start decorating for Christmas

6. What is your favorite turkey day dessert?

The loss of Nana and Brett within a few months timeframe has been pretty hard this year! Thursday evening when we got home Kadyn had a package waiting for him from his cousin Lyla so after dinner I lte both the boys tear into it and they had a good time. It is one of those "pop, pop, pop" push toys and Kadyn quite doesn't get it just yet so he either drags it around upside down or carries the thing - pretty cute actually!!!!

Saturday morning we got up and watched a few cartoons before having to get dressed - Ky loves him some Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Not sure where I am really looking in the below picture????

Headed out of the house for the day to get my hair did - what do you think???? Met my friend Michelle for lunch before heading home for a nap. I didn't nap! I did laundry and got some things done around the house while it was free of two little destroying monster boys.

Went to the mall that night to have the boys birthday pictures done (more on that in the days to come) and told Ky we could go see Santa. He was super excited as you can see while brother was pissed and by pissed I mean P-I-S-S-E-D!!!! The boys pictures were done at Picture People and so while waiting to view the photos I browsed through the holiday card promotion and what do you know we actually made it!!!!

I had to stop and try out the truffles from See's Candies - decided my best bet was to grab their smallest box and fill it up with a few different things, cut them into quarters and try a little bit of each different one. Apple Pie was by far the best freaking truffle I've ever tasted :)

No pictures really from Sunday but we got up and got a bunch of crap done around the house, ran errands, hit up my friend Jenne's purse party and then headed over to Auntie Kel-Razy so we could visit the Christmas Store and finish up with dinner at Cracker Barrel. All in all it was a very productive yet fun weekend in the Maddux House.

Now on to Thanksgiving Madness starting Wednesday evening through Saturday - plenty of updates on Tour de Texas next week!!!!!

It is pretty A-M-A-Z-I-N-G how one year can flash right before your eyes!!!!

March 13th, 2011 - I just knew a week before I took these I was pregnant and after arriving at my stepmom's house to celebrate birthdays I went into the bathroom and surprised her with these - I had already taken one at home earlier that day which was positive so Brett was in the know and she was the next victim to be surprised!!!!

Our little Kadyn man when he was still a teeny tiny little blob in my belly, yet had all his limbs formed and ready to tackle the world.

36 Weeks Pregnant - by the look on my face I'm freaking exhausted and ready to be done.

Welcome to the world Kadyn Rheudell Maddux - 11/10/11 - your daddy was so happy and loved you so stinkin' much!!!! He demanded to be the very first person to hold you and he was :) Right there as soon as you came out to cut the cord, then wrapped up warm to see your beautiful face.

The Big Texas Toy Run

There was nothing in this world more important to Brett Maddux than his Harley Davidson Motorcycle and riding in the Toy Run with about a million other bikes (minues his family). I remember last year he was re-doing his entire bike and needed to have it finished in time to ride in the Toy Run. He specifically went to Home Depot and bought a kerosene heater so he could work on it in the garage in the cold every evening after work and on the weekends when he wasn't working. He got the bike done in just enough time to get out there with his buddy Chris and a few other friends to make a difference as he had done for the past few years.

I know if he were here this year he would be gearing up again and getting excited to get out there. I posted on FB that I needed someone willing to ride in his honor this year and of course his best friend stepped up without questioning it - DAVID HOBSON YOU ROCK MY WORLD MY FRIEND!!!!!

The 27th Annual Big Texas Toy Run is set! The date for the BTTR is Saturday, December 15, 2012. That's right - a Saturday. Save the date!

In addition to the move to Saturday, BTTR has incorporated Event Pre-registration into the remodel of the website. Preregistration opened November 3, 2012. Toys collected during The Big Texas Toy Run are immediately loaded on trucks and sent to MHMR of Ft. Worth and MetroCare of Dallas.

Metrocare Services of Dallas is a non-profit 501c3 organization formerly known as The Dallas County Mental Health Mental Retardation Center. Children and Adults with mental illness, developmental disabilities, or severe emotional problems are cared for through out-patient clinics and various programs.

Just want to give a quick shout out to everyone that was able to attend the festivities and shower this precious little boy with love!

Sunday we were supposed to get out of the house and meet up with my sister to visit the Christmas store but after I was way too tired, sore and needed to accomplish a few things around the inside of my house.

my friend Jenne came over for a bit with her kiddos so these two little boys watched How the Grinch Stole Christmas while Jenne and I colored these leftover party favors - her and I both share the same love of sit down and color, there is something so "relaxing" about it.

Of course it wouldn't be a Funday Sunday at the casa without Auntie Kel-Razy there to make a mess of the kitchen, steal my pj bottoms, request I make chicken spaghetti and then take of the tv with Christmas movies :) She may be a pain in the rear but she is my sister and none the less I love her dearly and enjoy her company when we are together - albeit she probably says otherwise!!!!
