Last week i worked on this gh definition remaining on my personal research of fields. This is an example of Kiss principle:

"The KISS principle: KISS is a bacronym for the empirical principle "Keep it simple, stupid".[1] KISS states that design simplicity should be a key goal and that unnecessary complexity should be avoided. Some propose that it follow its own principle by dropping the redundant letter to be: KIS "Keep it simple". Another possible interpretation is "Keep it short and simple"[2]."A line controls every vector directly linked to it by their tangency at their closest points on
line. I've realized this simple field as an installation of cones that follow the principal way of the
visitors. In this case the flux of the visitors is the agent that controls the field.

Inspired by natural structure like radiolaria i've worked on this grasshopper definition.
Via Wiki:"Radiolarians (also radiolaria) are amoeboid protozoa that produce intricate mineral skeletons, typically with a central capsule dividing the cell into inner and outer portions, called endoplasm and ectoplasm (...)"

The complex structure of radiolaria was treated as a two-dimensional representation with a hexagonal pattern. A point controls the deformation of individual cells that make structure through a transformation of vectors connecting the vertices of the single cell with the point. The deformation of the grid can be caused by an attraction or a repulsion generated by the controller point.

This definition works with new image sampler component. To work correctly make sure you're choosing Value(brightness) in filter option in the image sampler component and X e Y domain of the image sampler ( Setting option) longer than the texture image( easy way is to create a texture image big than the projection of the surface on the x,y plane).
The radius of the circle that have center at U,V points surface is connected with the brightness value of the texture image at the u,v points.

"Principal of the architecture firm Nuova Ordentra/ Caterina Tiazzoldi, based in New York City and director of the Non Linear Solutions Unit at the school of architecture at Columbia University am pleased to invite you to the opening of Onion Pinch and Porcupine, two installations designed in collaboration with Eduardo Benamor Duarte for the Bienial Experimenta Design 09 in Lisbon during the "Digital Primitive Event #2: iterative Design".

Onion Pinch will be presented at the Cais do Sodre Subway Station and Porcupine in the Lisbon Altlis Hotel from September 9th to November 8th.

The Digital Primitive Event # 2 “Iterative Design”, is the second event of a sequence initially presented at the Giulio Capellini’s Young Talents selection for the Temporary Museum for New Design held in the Milan Design Week, April 2009.

In its Lisbon edition Digital Primitive goal is to test the relation existing between globalized design technique such as parametric devices when meeting the specificity of a local condition such material constraints,sustainability, security.

Onion Pinch is an installation set in the Cais do Sodre Subway station, featuring the work of 13 New York based design NYC from academia, small shops, to achieve to the corporate world. The design for the Installation is

processed through the transformation of a same component - a sheet of cork arranged as an “onion ring”. Thanks to its focuses on cork qualities and capacity to adapt to the body form the project that after the Lisbon Biennal will be introduced in the permanent collection of the Cork museum.

Throw Felt Along Curve - Porcupine sitting – The second Lisbon installation is Porcupine is an adaptable sitting for hotel lobbies, restaurants and airports waiting areas, expressly designed for the reception space of the Altis Belém Hotel & Spa in Lisbon. Inspired from the fractal growth of a shell, it is realized in naturalwoolen felt and fiber glass, representing Portugal’s historical relevance in the textile and plastic manufacturing. Its design has been generated with a parametric logic (deriving from a Grasshopper application) that allows to be reconfigured according to the room size and customer’s inputs.

Fulvio Wirz, nato a Napoli nel 1977, si Laurea in architettura presso l’ Università Federico II con lode e dignità di pubblicazione della tesi.

Consegue un master in”Progettazione dello spazio pubblico” nel 2003 ed uno in ”Progettazione architettonica per l’integrazione del fotovoltaico nel 2004″.

Dal 2002 affianca alle esperienze progettuali nello studio paterno l’attività didattica nell’ambito dei corsi di progettazione del prof. Lucio Morrica ed una personale ricerca nelle relazioni tra architettura e nuovi media concretizzata attraverso numerosi concorsi e culminante con il conseguimento, nel 2008, del dottorato di ricerca in progettazione architettonica con la tesi “Rappresentazione Digitale e Composizione architettonica”.

Dal 2005 collabora in qualità di project architect nello studio Zaha Hadid Architects di Londra vincendo prestigiosi concorsi internazionali come la Biblioteca di Siviglia, il Masterplan per l’area “Kartal-Pendik” di Istanbul, la “Lilium Tower” a Varsavia ed il Museo “Eli & Edythe” in Michigan. E’ stato responsabile del progetto “Aura” esposto a Villa Foscari nell’ambito della Biennale di Venezia del 2008 e co-responsabile della prestigiosa Opera House di Dubai. Attualmente è incaricato del progetto di una moschea in Kuwait e di una serie di prodotti di design.

First attempt in a multiple point attractors rhinoscripts. I started from a code founded at Mark Bearak's Blog, then i adapted to my case. This script (I know, it's very simple ) :

-plots a grid of points choosing x and y values

-add circles with a radius defined by the distances from center of circle and point attractor

-draw a loft surface between first array of circles at x,y,z world plane and second array of circles at x,y,z world shifted of the same amount of the circles radius

-add planar surface to the second array of circles in order to create a cap closed surface
