MIFL Winter Update 02/10/12

Wind and warm weather recently combined to take down most of the thin ice bridge to Bayfield. What is left will probably go with the next strong wind. Warning signs are up to stop snowmobilers from trying to get across. Even if it refreezes it will still be very dangerous. MIFL is now expecting to complete the winter with ferry operations. We will not be issuing further ice condition updates. However, we will issue ferry service interruption bulletins, due to weather or ice conditions from time to time, on our website, mobile site, Facebook and our office answering machine.

Parking in MIFL mainland lot.

It looks like the ferry will be running all winter. If you have been leaving a car in our main lot (by the ferry ramps) feel free to continue to do so at least through 03/15/12. After that we may need the space for the Madeline to start operating. Save some $$ and walk aboard. The MIFL crew will try to keep the lots plowed and help you any way we can. Please do not park near ferry ramps or block access lanes between parked cars.

The new 2012 Madeline Island Ferry Line brochures have arrived. They are now available at the MIFL office, on the ferry boats, ticket offices and in the terminal building in Bayfield.
