Vogue December 2011 Covers Worldwide

December is always a really huge month fashion wise. Whether it is for the Christmas party dresses, the beginning of the January sales or the transition into next season, there is no denying that you simply cannot get away from the beautiful clothing, luring you into stores, no matter where you go.

Here are a few of the Vogue covers for December 2011. How sensational does Giselle look in those striped trousers? While Karlie reminds of the most recent Dior show by giving us a flash of her bottom, and then Kate channelling David Bowie, a simply mind-blowing and artistic cover.

Marni for H&M

The newest collaboration for H&M has been announced and personally I cannot wait to see this exciting new collection.

Italian fashion label Marni has agreed to collaborate with the high street chain for their spring/summer 2012 collection. This collection will be available in 260 stores worldwide and online from the 8th March 2012.

Marni is known for its vivid bold printing and those amazing accessories, so I cant wait to see what they have in store for us. Expect menswear as well as womenswear, which have been heavily influenced from Marni’s own S/S 12 collection.

Gucci - Spring/Summer 2012

Last season at Gucci we were taken back to the seventies with luxe fur and those pleasure-seeking colour schemes. But this season we were transported to my favourite era, the twenties. ‘I wanted to explore an optical side of femininity by creating a sculptural glamour for the Gucci woman, fusing elements from our DNA, from design history, from photography – making them current with a strong sense of personality. Louise Brookes and Nancy Cunard in the images of Man Ray. The opulence of the era of hedonism. Mirror embroidery recalling the skyscrapers of a metropolis. Artisanal working with 3D effect.” Explains Giannini about this season’s collection.

From the opening look upon the runway, we come face-to-face with strong shaped printing upon short prim-esque jackets. While the mix of luxe materials such as velvet, sheer tulle, wool and leather, complete the look, and denote the hedonistic glamour that the Gucci woman radiates. From the intricate tailoring, to the black and gold mirroring, this show would definitely leave you in awe of the wonder woman, Frida Giannini.

For the spring/summer collection, Giannini has made it obvious what our investment pieces are. The Gucci jacket. Nearly every look is made complete with one. Whether this jacket comes with print, has a military approach or an acute boyfriend style; Giannini has made it clear to us that next season, it’s all about the jacket you’re wearing.

For me though, it was not until the end of the show that the heart wrenching moment of sheer delight was exposed. Drop waisted, art-deco style dresses, emulating that distinguished look of the twenties poured down the runway in beautiful shades of black and mirrored gold. The highly meticulous embellishment upon these dresses is incomparable, and the word exquisite really was an understatement. From feathers to fringing, one shoulder to strapless, Giannini really did bestow every single style of dress in the most beautiful, and eloquent of ways.

Walking for designers such as Prabal Gurung to Christian Dior, her dominating presence upon the catwalk is always admired and never overshadowed. Her versatile look takes from swimwear to full lengths gowns with minimal effort; so it’s no wonder that every designer is longing to get her to open their shows.

Versace, the show simply everyone wants to see. Whether it’s for the sexy clothes, the star studded front row or even for that glimpse of Donatella herself, you always know that Versace will constantly live up to your expectations and bring you some of the glossiest, sexiest and illustrious clothes that the fashion world sees each season.

We opened the show with the beautiful Lindsey Wixon, strutting down the catwalk wearing the colour of the season white. But how did Versace add their own twist? Well instead of chiffon, cotton or silk they used leather and added heavy gold studded embellishment. This leather-studded embellishment is then transferred onto shorts and dresses and it appears, that Donatella is toughening us up for the forthcoming season.

We then see these beautiful bloomers, which ooze that Versace sex appeal. These bloomers sported an underwater theme displaying fish, seahorses and starfish in a striking and very summery pale blue, lilac and yellow. Oh so feminine and oh so desirable. This pattern is then transferred on to short mini dresses, bandeaus, jackets and skirts

The show then turns and we see those iconic Versace mini dresses that we all love and adore. Whether they are one shouldered, bandeau, studded or floaty, there is no escaping the glamour, style and grandeur that these dresses show off. And while the colour scheme stays the same, we simply cannot get enough of these visually stimulating luxury summer style.

But Versace would not be Versace, if we did not have some floor length gowns with sexy thigh high splits or showing just the right amount of flesh. From the way the material hangs to the body, accentuating all the right parts, to the delicate embellishment, there was no escaping from the provocativeness, allurement and sensuality that these dresses radiated.

Overall, a very polished, glossy yet utterly smouldering show. Versace has definitely raised the temperature for summer 2012.

Every season we are taken on a fashion journey with Prada, and every season we follow. Like a flock of lambs, we evidently see Muiccia Prada as our shepherd and no matter what she designs or where she goes, we are not too far behind.

This season at Prada we were taken back in time to the fifties. But this was not the conventional 1950’s; instead high waisted pleated skirts worn with bandeau tops and paisley printed flower coats were not the subject of taboo, but the subject of true class and glamour, because after all isn’t the Prada women the epitome of glamour in its many forms?

Whereas last season at Prada the theme was monkeys and bananas, this season we look to cars for the inspiration. But not just any old cars, expect to see many a women wearing thunderbird style vehicles and hot rods on their clothing in the not so distant future.

We see cotton bandeaus with high waisted skirts forming the main composition of this collection. As well as elastic waisted skirts we also saw mid length, high waisted, leather skirts in a rich wine and pine tree green but to make these skirts something outstanding, Mrs Prada detailed thunderbird and hot rod style cars showing true mechanical style.

1950’s style dresses came sauntering down the runway with either thunderbird cars upon or sharp acute knife pleats. All of these displayed that beautiful pastel colour scheme of light blues, pale yellows or an occasional flame print adorning the hemlines of the skirt. I particularly liked the swimsuits that were shown with large satin overcoats. These coats were featured in nude, dark, green and of-course Prada’s new iconic car print. It brought an overall touch of femminity and understated sexuality to the collection reminding us, that less is absolutely more.

But what I found truly great this season at Prada was the plunging necklines that emulated a bodice. With a different colour lining each of the heart shaped bodices, it perfectly accentuated the top of the torso, only to re-iterate the sexiness and the cool cuts that derived from the fifties era.

Overall an utterly feminine collection, showing clear indication of the iconic pieces that we shall all be after comes spring.
