Madison has no shortage of ways to get outside.

A good day can mean biking around the lakes, paddling on Lake Mendota or Monona, hiking at a nearby park, golfing, taking the kids somewhere outdoors, or simply finding a reason to spend an afternoon outside instead of indoors.

The problem is that a basic weather forecast does not always answer the question people are actually asking.

<img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="485" height="914" src="https://www.madisonclick.com/wp-content/uploads/GoBeOutside-2.jpg" alt="GoBeOutside screen shot of conditions for activities. Today's Report:

A sunny day can still be too windy for paddling. A warm afternoon may look great for golf until thunderstorms are expected later. A chance of rain may not matter much if the morning is dry and comfortable.

That is the idea behind a new Wisconsin outdoor planning website called GoBeOutside.com.

Instead of only showing temperatures and weather icons, GoBeOutside looks at what conditions may mean for the activities people want to do. Visitors can explore destination pages, check outdoor outlooks, and see how rain timing, wind, temperatures, and weather alerts may affect plans.

For Madison-area residents, that could mean checking whether today looks better for biking, hiking, golf, paddling, a park visit, or another outdoor activity. It can also help when planning a weekend trip to places like Wisconsin Dells, Devil’s Lake, Lake Wisconsin, Door County, Minocqua, La Crosse, or one of the many other Wisconsin destinations being added.

The site is starting with Wisconsin and plans to grow into more states over time. And, it’s just in beta / soft launch right now, so some thing may not work, and many things will change, but go check it out.

Take a look at GoBeOutside.com before your next lake day, hike, family outing, camping trip, or weekend escape. A little weather awareness can help make the day go better.

Madison is full of builders and creators, and here’s a fun one: a local ski instructor just released a children’s book designed to help beginner kids start turning on skis.

If you’ve ever watched your child point their skis straight downhill and “forget” how to turn, you already know how stressful that can be. This book was created specifically for that moment — and it’s based on what’s worked in real lessons with real kids.

The Problem a Lot of Parents Run Into: Straight Down the Hill

Many beginner kids can stop (kind of), but turning is a different story. On the snow, “turn left… now turn right…” can turn into tension, stiff legs, panic-stops, and a kid who just wants the run to be over.

The tricky part is that turning is often confidence first, technique second — especially for kids in that 5–8 age range.

A Local Storybook With a Simple Goal: Help Turning Click

The book is called Swoosh the Snow-saurus. It’s a rhyming bedtime story made for kids who are learning to ski and need turning to “click” without a bunch of technical coaching on the hill.

The author created it after using a story-based approach in a lesson with a child who would only ski straight down. The child began turning quickly, and the best part was that the turning stuck throughout the day because the kid stayed motivated and engaged.

To keep the book effective, the exact story mechanism isn’t spoiled online — but the promise is simple: it helps many beginner kids start turning faster by keeping things playful and low-pressure.

What Parents Like About It

It’s easy to use: read it before skiing, then keep the on-snow “assignment” simple.

Less stress: instead of repeating instructions all run, parents can keep things light.

More confidence: kids are focused on something fun, which often reduces fear.

Works great for ages 5–8: especially on the bunny hill and easy green runs.

The purchase also includes a companion Turning Guide for parents, plus additional tips you can try if your child needs extra help.

A Simple “On-Snow” Line Parents Can Say

Keep it short. Keep it light. Let the story do the work. Here are a few quick options:

Option 1: “Remember what Swoosh said? You’ve got a job to do today. Let’s start over here… then we’ll go over there.”

Option 2: “Remember your mission? Let’s do it on this run. Show me you’ve got it.”

Option 3: “Remember Swoosh? We’re doing our mission slowly and safely today.”

Support Madison-Area Creators and Get a Better Ski Day

We all love a good Wisconsin winter story — and this one happens to be practical, too. If you ski with kids around the Madison area, you know how big the “first real turning day” can be.

This is a simple way to support a local author and give your family a tool you can use every time you head to the hill.

Where to Buy the Book

Swoosh the Snow-saurus is available online and includes the companion Turning Guide.

Holiday gatherings in Madison usually mean good food, board games, and someone falling asleep on the couch during a movie. If you’re looking for something new and easy to try this year, there’s a locally built party game that might be exactly what your group needs:

On Your Mark – a simple, hilarious, web-based game you play together on your phones.

What is On Your Mark?

On Your Mark is a social game you run in a browser (like Chrome or Safari) on your phone, tablet, or laptop. There’s no app store, no installs, and no signups for players.

The idea is simple:

One person is the host and creates a game.

Everyone else joins the game with a short code.

The game gives players fun, light-hearted “missions” to complete.

Each round, players get new missions, and the host keeps things moving.

Think of it as a cross between a party game, an icebreaker, and a challenge generator—all designed to get people laughing and talking instead of just scrolling on their phones.

Why It’s Perfect for Holiday Get-Togethers

Holiday gatherings can be great… and also a little awkward. You might have:

Family members who don’t know each other well

Teens who would rather be on TikTok

That “what do we do now?” lull after dinner

On Your Mark helps break the ice without putting anyone too much on the spot. You can dial the energy up or down depending on your group.

Low setup, high fun

No app download: Everyone just goes to OnYourMark.app.

Fast to start: Games can be set up in minutes.

Flexible: Works with small groups or a full living room of people.

Gets everyone involved

Kids, teens, and adults can all play together.

Missions are designed to be fun and social, not embarrassing.

Great for that “in-between” time when people aren’t sure what to do next.

How On Your Mark Works (Step-by-Step)

Here’s what a typical game looks like:

The host goes to OnYourMark.app and creates a new game.

The game shows a room code – usually a short combo of letters and numbers.

Everyone else pulls out their phone, goes to the website, and enters the code to join.

Once everyone’s in, the host starts the first round.

Players receive missions on their phones to complete within a time limit.

At the end of the round, you can share what happened, laugh about it, and roll into the next round.

The goal isn’t to “win” in some serious sense. It’s to create those silly, memorable holiday moments people talk about later.

Ideas for Playing Over the Holidays

Because it’s browser-based and quick to start, you can drop On Your Mark into different parts of your holiday plans:

After-dinner game: When everyone is full and a bit sleepy, play a lighter round to get people moving and laughing.

Family game night: Use On Your Mark as a warm-up before your usual board games.

New Year’s Eve: Keep things moving between snacks, countdowns, and other games.

Snow day fun: Stuck inside during a snowstorm in Madison? Fire it up and play a few rounds.

A Madison-Made Game With National Potential

On Your Mark was created here in the Madison area, but there’s nothing “local-only” about how it works. Any group that can get to the website and share a room code can play, from living rooms in Madison to family gatherings across the country.

It’s the kind of simple, web-based experience that could easily spread if people start sharing it with friends and family in other cities. If you write about family tech, holiday fun, or party games, this is a unique, indie project worth watching.

How to Try On Your Mark This Holiday Season

Getting started is easy and free:

Grab a friend or a group of family members.

Have the host visit OnYourMark.app in a browser.

Start a game and share the room code with everyone.

Play a round or two and see what happens.

You don’t have to commit to a full game night. Try it for 10–15 minutes and see how your group responds. If people are laughing and asking for “one more round,” you’ve found a new holiday tradition.

On Your Mark Holiday FAQs

Does On Your Mark cost anything?

It’s free. The core experience is designed to be simple and accessible. Just head to the website and play in your browser. Check the site for any updates about pricing or new features as the game grows.

Do players need an account?

No. Players just join with the room code the host gives them. It’s quick and avoids the “everyone download this app and make an account” hurdle that kills a lot of party game momentum.

What kind of missions are there?

Missions are meant to be fun, social, and light-hearted—things that get people talking, noticing, and interacting, not doing anything unsafe or extreme. Think more “make up a ridiculous slogan” and less “call your ex.”

Is it family-friendly?

Yes. The game is built with families and mixed-age groups in mind. As with any game, the host can set the tone and decide what’s right for their group, but the default experience is designed to be clean and inclusive.

If you’re looking for something fresh to try with your family or friends in Madison this winter, give On Your Mark a shot. It might become the new “remember when…” story everyone brings up next year.

When the snow flies in Madison and across Wisconsin, the roads get slick fast. Even if you’re comfortable driving in winter, it only takes one patch of ice or one hard brake to send your car sliding.

These simple winter driving tips will help you stay in control and get where you’re going safely.

1. Slow Down More Than You Think You Need To

Your tires have far less grip on snow and ice. The faster you’re going, the harder it is to steer, stop, or correct a slide. In winter, drive like every light, stop sign, or turn is going to sneak up on you.

Leave earlier so you’re not rushing.

Stay under the speed limit when roads are slick.

Gently ease off the gas well before intersections.

2. Leave a Lot More Following Distance

On dry roads, the “3-second rule” is OK. On snow and ice, that’s not enough. You may need double or triple that space so you can respond without slamming the brakes.

Pick a sign or landmark and count “one-thousand-one…” as the car ahead passes it.

If you catch up too quickly, back off until you have a comfortable cushion.

Extra space gives you time to brake gently instead of suddenly.

3. Avoid Heavy Braking to Keep the Car Balanced

One of the biggest winter driving mistakes is slamming on the brakes. Hard braking throws the weight of the car forward and can upset its balance, especially on slick roads. That’s when you lose traction and start sliding.

Look far ahead so you can brake early and gently.

Use smooth, steady pressure on the pedal instead of jabbing at it.

Let off the gas and let the car slow on its own as much as possible before you brake.

Keep enough space in front of you so you only need to brake when it’s truly necessary, not every few seconds.

The goal is to keep the car settled and balanced so all four tires can do their job.

4. Steer, Brake, and Accelerate Smoothly

Every sudden move your car makes (quick steering, a hard stab of the gas, or a sharp brake) uses up the small amount of grip your tires have on snow and ice. Instead… go smoothly.

Turn the steering wheel gradually, not in jerks.

Ease into the gas instead of flooring it from a stop.

If you feel the tires start to slip, gently back off the gas or brake to let them regain traction.

5. Use Winter Tires If You Can

All-season tires are okay for light winter weather, but true winter tires are made for cold, snow, and ice. They stay softer in low temperatures and have tread designed to bite into snow.

If your budget allows, invest in a set of winter tires for the cold months.

Check tire pressure regularly. Pressure drops in cold weather.

Worn tires + ice = long stopping distances, even with good driving habits.

6. Watch for Black Ice and Trouble Spots

Black ice is nearly invisible and often shows up when the pavement just looks “wet.” Be extra cautious in spots that freeze first:

Bridges and overpasses

Shaded areas that don’t get much sun

Intersections where packed snow turns glossy and slick

If you suspect black ice, keep the steering wheel straight, avoid sudden braking, and gently ease off the gas.

7. Give Yourself Extra Time for Everything

Winter driving takes longer… period. Trying to drive “summer fast” on winter roads is how fender benders and ditch trips happen.

Plan an extra 10–20 minutes for your commute when it’s snowy.

Take a calmer route if it’s less busy or has fewer hills.

Mentally decide you’re OK being a few minutes late if it means arriving safely.

8. Clear Off Your Entire Car, Not Just a Peephole

Driving with a tiny cleared spot on your windshield is dangerous for you and everyone around you. Snow and ice left on your car can fly off and hit cars behind you.

Clear all windows, mirrors, and headlights.

Brush snow off the roof, hood, and trunk.

Make sure your wipers aren’t frozen to the glass before turning them on.

9. Use Your Lights and See & Be Seen (BIG ONE!)

Winter days are darker, and snow can cut visibility dramatically. Turn on your headlights, even if it’s not snowing. There’s more salt and dirt on our windows now.

Turn on your headlights whenever it’s snowing, raining, or gloomy.

Use low beams in snow and fog. High beams can make it harder to see.

Wipe road salt off your headlights and taillights when you stop.

Also, it’s amazing to me how many people don’t have their lights on at night anyway (with Daytime Running Lights and a lit of dashboard maybe they forget… I don’t know), but in the winter it’s more important to have your light on. There’s less daylight, too. Turn ’em on. Most cars have an automatic lights feature… just use that at the least.

10. Pack a Simple Winter Emergency Kit

Even a short drive across Madison can turn into a wait if there’s a crash, a spin-out, or a stalled car ahead. A basic kit can make that a lot less stressful.

Here are some suggested items to include:

Warm gloves, hat, and blanket

Ice scraper and small shovel

Sand, kitty litter, or traction mats

Phone charger and a small flashlight

Some water and snacks

11. Practice in an Empty Lot

If you’re not sure how your car behaves in snow, find an open, empty parking lot after a snowfall and practice at low speed.

Feel how the car brakes on snow versus ice.

Practice gentle steering and see how quickly it responds.

Try stopping from a low speed so you understand how long it takes.

That small investment of time can pay off the first time you hit a slick patch in real traffic.

12. Stay Calm If You Start to Slide

Even with perfect driving, winter will still surprise you sometimes. If you start to slide:

Don’t panic and don’t slam the brakes.

Gently ease off the gas.

Look and steer where you want the car to go.

Make small, smooth corrections instead of big ones.

Most slides feel worse than they are. Staying calm and keeping your inputs gentle gives your tires the best chance to grab again.

Drive Smart and Share the Road

Winter driving in Madison is all about respect. That means respecting the weather, the road conditions, and everyone else on the road. Slow down, leave room, avoid heavy braking that upsets the balance of the car, and keep your inputs smooth. If you do that, you’ll be in much better shape when the next storm rolls through.

Stay safe out there this winter and support the local businesses that help keep your car ready for the cold months.

Winter Driving FAQs

How much extra space should I leave in winter?

A good rule of thumb is to at least double your normal following distance, and in heavy snow or icy conditions, triple it. If you feel like you’re constantly tapping the brakes, you’re probably too close.

Is it bad to use cruise control on snowy or icy roads?

Yes. Avoid cruise control in winter conditions. You want full control over acceleration and deceleration so you can react smoothly to changing traction.

Do I really need winter tires in Madison?

While you can get by on all-season tires, winter tires offer better grip, shorter stopping distances, and more control in snow and ice. If you drive often during storms or on side streets that aren’t cleared right away, they’re worth serious consideration.

HEAR Rebates Can Cover 50%–100% of Your Project

If you live in Wisconsin, the Home Electrification & Appliance Rebates (HEAR) program—administered in our state by Focus on Energy—can dramatically cut the cost of upgrades like heat pumps, heat-pump water heaters, insulation & air sealing, panel/wiring upgrades, and more. Depending on your household income, you could get 50% or even 100% of eligible project costs covered, up to program caps.

    Quick example:

A family of 3 around $40,000/year or less may qualify for 100% coverage of eligible project costs (subject to program limits and local income thresholds).

A family of 3 around $60,000/year or less may be in the moderate-income bracket and qualify for 50% coverage (again, based on local thresholds).

Note: Actual eligibility is based on your county’s Area Median Income (AMI). Use the checker below to see where you land.

What Is the HEAR Program?

HEAR is part of the federal Inflation Reduction Act and is designed to make home electrification and efficiency more affordable for low- and moderate-income households. In Wisconsin, Focus on Energy manages the program and offers two ways to participate:

Contractor path: Work with an IRA Registered Contractor for installed upgrades like whole-home heat pumps, insulation/air sealing, panel and wiring work.

Retail path: For qualifying products (e.g., heat-pump water heaters, certain electric appliances), you may get rebates or instant discounts at participating retailers.

What Can You Upgrade?

High-efficiency heat pumps for heating & cooling

Heat-pump water heaters

Insulation and air sealing

Electrical panel and wiring upgrades

Qualifying electric kitchen/laundry appliances (program-eligible categories)

How Much Could You Save?

Eligibility and rebate amounts are income-based. In short:

Lower-income households (typically < 80% of AMI) can get up to 100% of eligible project costs covered (within program caps).

Moderate-income households (typically 80%–150% of AMI) can get up to 50% of costs covered (within caps).

Because AMI varies by county, always check your exact eligibility with the tool below.

Why It’s Worth It

Lower bills: Heat pumps and tighter homes (insulation/air sealing) can significantly reduce monthly energy costs.

Comfort: More even temperatures, fewer drafts.

Home value: Efficient, modern systems are a selling point.

Climate impact: Using cleaner electricity and less energy helps everyone.

How to Get Started: Simple

Check eligibility. Verify your household income and AMI status.

No retroactive rebates: Make sure you’re following program steps before you buy or install.

Keep everything: Save quotes, invoices, model numbers, and any contractor documentation.

Stack savings: You may be able to combine HEAR with other Focus on Energy offers or federal tax credits where allowed.

Bottom line: If you’re a Wisconsin household—especially a family of three around the $40k–$60k range—this program could be a game-changer for comfort and monthly costs. Take two minutes to check eligibility and see what you can save.

HEAR is administered by Focus on Energy, offers income-based rebates up to program caps; Wisconsin’s cap language and participation paths are outlined on Focus on Energy and the official HEAR portal, including the pre-qualification flow and “work with an IRA Registered Contractor” vs. retail purchase options.
Need to share a login code with someone, but don’t want to mess with screenshots, texts, or insecure emails? A new tool built right here in Madison makes it easy — and secure — to pass along two-factor authentication (2FA) codes in real time.

What’s the problem with sharing 2FA codes?

Many websites now require a second step to log in — usually a code sent by text or an app like Google Authenticator. This is called two-factor authentication, or 2FA. It helps keep accounts safer, but it also makes it harder to share access when two people need to log in to the same account.

If you’ve ever said “Hey, what’s the code they just texted you?” — this tool is for you.

Meet ShareLogin.Codes

ShareLogin.Codes is a free, no-login tool created in Madison by local developer Tony Herman. It lets two people meet in a secure browser room to share codes, real-time updates, and even mark when they’re done.

“I wanted something fast and easy — no accounts, no saving, just a clean way to coordinate on a shared login,” says Herman. “It’s perfect for families, tech support, and remote teams.”

How it works

You create a room with a name and time.

You send the private link to the other person.

Both of you can see and share a 2FA code securely. You can mark when you’re done and say thanks — that’s it.

There’s no need to install an app, no passwords to remember, and no personal data is stored. Rooms automatically expire, and any codes you share vanish shortly after being entered.

Built in Madison, used everywhere

“We’re seeing usage from all over — but this is very much a Madison-style project,” Herman says. “It’s practical, private, and built without trying to harvest data or get bought by Google.”

Herman runs several local sites, including MadisonClick.com, and has long championed independent tech that values simplicity over bloat. “There’s a real culture of clean, honest tech in Madison,” he adds. “This tool fits right in.”

Try it free

You can check out the tool at ShareLogin.Codes. It’s completely free to use and works on desktop and mobile.

Pro tip: If you’re helping a parent or coworker who struggles with logins, this could save a lot of “What’s the code?” headaches.

Bonus: You don’t have to sign up for anything — just use it and go.

Are Golf Carts Legal on Roads in Fitchburg, WI?

Thinking about driving a golf cart around Fitchburg? While it might seem convenient or even fun, the laws around golf carts on public roads in Wisconsin—and especially in Fitchburg—are more complicated than you’d expect. Let’s break it down so you don’t end up with a ticket.

Are Golf Carts Street Legal in Fitchburg?

Golf carts may be permitted on public roads where there is a speed limit of 25 mph or less within the municipality, but Fitchburg, WI currently does not have an ordinance allowing golf carts to be used on public streets. That means you cannot legally drive a golf cart on roads within city limits. Unless Fitchburg passes a local law specifically permitting it, golf carts are restricted to private property and golf courses only.

If this changes, the city would likely post details on their official website and through local news outlets.

UPDATE: We did have someone reach out to the Fitchburg Police Department and we asked about LSVs (Low-Speed Vehicles). They said that Golf Carts are legal to drive in Fitchburg, but if they are rated to go over 35 MPH, then they would not be.

So, golf carts that stay under 35 MPH should be legal to drive in Fitchburg, but you may want to check for yourself.

What About in Wisconsin?

In Wisconsin, standard golf carts are not automatically street legal. The state doesn’t allow them to be registered like a car or low-speed vehicle (LSV). However, local governments can pass ordinances to allow golf carts on roads with speed limits of 25 mph or less. That means it’s up to each city or town to make them legal in specific areas.

Bottom line: It’s not legal statewide—local approval is required.

What Age Can You Drive a Golf Cart in Wisconsin?

Where golf carts are legal (in cities that allow them), drivers must typically be at least 16 years old and have a valid driver’s license. These requirements aren’t part of a state law specifically for golf carts—they’re usually baked into the city’s ordinance.

So if Fitchburg were to allow golf carts in the future, expect age and licensing requirements to come with it.

What Type of Golf Carts Are Street Legal?

Standard golf carts straight from the course won’t cut it. In order to be allowed on public streets, carts typically need:

Headlights and taillights

Brake lights and turn signals

Rearview mirror(s)

Reflectors

Slow-moving vehicle triangle on the back

A horn or audible warning device

These features help bring the cart up to basic road-safe standards. Some municipalities may even require a special permit or inspection before issuing a golf cart sticker or plate.

Do You Need Insurance for a Golf Cart?

Wisconsin doesn’t require insurance on golf carts by default. But again—local rules vary. In many cities that allow street use, golf cart owners are required to carry liability insurance (often a minimum of $100,000).

Even if it’s not required, it’s a smart idea. If you’re in an accident while driving on a public road, the lack of insurance could create serious legal and financial problems.

Quick FAQ Summary

Are golf carts street legal in WI? Not unless a local ordinance allows it.

Are golf carts legal in Fitchburg? No, Fitchburg has no ordinance permitting them.

What age can you drive a golf cart? Usually 16+ with a valid driver’s license (where allowed).

What makes a golf cart street legal? Required equipment like lights, mirrors, and a slow-moving vehicle triangle.

Do you need insurance? Often yes, if local law permits road use. Not required statewide.

The Bottom Line

In Fitchburg, golf carts are not legal on public roads unless the city changes its stance and adopts an ordinance. Across Wisconsin, the rules depend entirely on where you are—some towns say yes, many say no. Even if you find yourself in a golf cart–friendly area, you’ll still need the right equipment, likely need insurance, and the driver must be old enough to legally operate it.

If you’re hoping to make golf carts legal in Fitchburg, it starts with your city council. Until then, keep the carts off the streets and on private property.

If you’re tired of cable bills and want a smarter way to stream local news, sports, and entertainment in Madison and Dane County, CUE Broadcast might be the answer. Launched by local entrepreneur Tony Herman, this service lets you watch everything you love—plus free your monthly fee by referring friends.

1. CUE Broadcast: Smart, Simple, Local

CUE Broadcast is a streaming service available on Roku and other devices for $59.99/month. It includes live TV, sports, and on-demand content—without the long-term contracts or cable company’s upselling tactics. (How it works on Roku)

2. Madison Connection: It’s Built by Locals, for Locals

Madison-based Tony Herman—who’s well-known in the community as a ski instructor, website designer, and marketing pro—developed CUE Broadcast with our local market in mind. He put it together so Madison viewers get flexibility and value without dealing with Big Cable.

3. Refer 3 Friends—Pay Nothing

Here’s the clever twist: with CUE’s “Get 3, Yours is Free” program, if you refer three people who sign up and stay active, your subscription is free for as long as they remain subscribers. (Refer & get CUE free)

4. Why It Matters for Dane County Viewers

Streaming habits continue to rise in Dane County, especially as local media options shift and evolve. Madison viewers want access to UW–Madison sports, local news, and regional shows. CUE bundles those with national content—all without the cable clutter.

Meanwhile, Dane County recently broke ground on a new 34,000-square-foot communications facility, emphasizing local service and connectivity. CUE could complement that shift by empowering residents with on-demand access to content they care about .

5. The Roku Advantage

With the new Roku app, CUE subscribers can stream directly from their TV platform—no need to cast or connect third-party devices. That simplicity means fewer frustrations and more binge time. (Learn more about Roku integration)

6. Who Should Sign Up?

Cable-cutter families who still want local games and news.

Renters and students who move often and want flexible options.

Budget-conscious households looking to lower bills without sacrifices.

7. How to Get Started

Visit the CUE Broadcast sign-up page.

Create your account and start your free trial.

Get your unique referral link and invite 3 friends.

Watch CUE for free as long as those accounts stay active!

8. Can You Watch Badgers Games with CUE?

Absolutely. One of the top questions Madison-area fans ask is whether CUE lets you watch Wisconsin Badgers football and basketball games. Many of those games air on Big Ten Network (BTN), FS1, and FS2—all of which are included with CUE Broadcast.

That means you don’t have to miss big matchups, conference rivalries, or postseason play. Whether it’s a packed Camp Randall showdown or March Madness opener, CUE makes sure you’re tuned in without cable or a sports bar tab.

Even better, you can stream games on your TV, laptop, tablet, or phone—so if you’re tailgating, traveling, or stuck at work (we won’t tell), you’ve still got access.

Final Word About Cutting the Cord in Madison, WI

If you’re looking for a local-first streaming service that supports Madison content, saves money, and rewards you for spreading the word, CUE Broadcast checks the boxes. With its referral model, Roku ease, and local roots, it’s one of the smartest moves for Dane County households thinking about ditching cable.

Artificial intelligence isn’t just a buzzword anymore—it’s taking root in Madison businesses, nonprofits, schools, and government. A local coffee shop might use ChatGPT for marketing emails. A law firm might rely on AI tools for research. Even schools and local governments in Dane County are leaning in. But without a clear, ethical AI usage policy in place, organizations put themselves at risk—misuse, compliance issues, data leaks, biased decisions, reputation damage.

That’s where platforms like AIUsagePolicy.com come in: they help Madison businesses proactively set rules around AI use, so they can innovate with confidence.

1. AI Isn’t New Now—But Policies Are

Last fall, the Wisconsin Legislature passed bills requiring AI disclaimers in election ads and criminalizing AI-generated child pornography. They also mandated that state agencies draft AI usage plans by 2030. (source)

Meanwhile, UW–Madison introduced detailed generative AI guidelines spelling out what students, faculty, and staff can and can’t do with tools like ChatGPT. These aren’t just academic rules—they reflect growing public focus on AI ethics and accountability.

2. Local Risks Demand Local Policies

Here are some real-world scenarios causing concern in Dane County:

Security & Data Leaks – Employees pasting sensitive info into chatbots can lead to data exposure.

Bias and Fairness – Nonprofits using AI to screen applications risk discrimination unless they check for bias.

Transparency & Accountability – AI-generated content published without oversight could trigger legal trouble.

Compliance Headaches – Without a policy, how do you know your AI use meets new laws or privacy requirements?

3. The AIUsagePolicy.com Advantage

AIUsagePolicy.com offers a customizable AI policy template built for small and mid-size organizations—perfect for the Madison market.

Key Benefits:

Business-focused templates covering customer support, marketing, HR, and compliance.

Clear roles and responsibilities for AI approval and oversight.

Rules for what data can be entered into AI tools.

Bias prevention steps and documentation requirements.

Legal compliance safeguards that grow with evolving regulations.

4. Madison Spotlight: UW Recycling AI + Local Government Gaps

UW–Madison’s Oscar Sort is an AI-powered recycling bin program launched as part of a zero-waste initiative. (source) But this raises questions about student data, tracking, and consent. Without a policy in place, things get murky fast.

Meanwhile, former Madison Police Chief Noble Wray has called for statewide policies around facial recognition and AI video analysis in law enforcement, noting that most departments—including Madison PD—don’t have one yet. (source)

5. What an AI Usage Policy Should Include

Here’s what you get from AIUsagePolicy.com:

Section

What It Covers

Why It Matters in Madison

Scope & Governance

Defines who can use AI, for what, and under what approval

Prevents unapproved use in customer-facing content

Data Privacy Rules

What data can be entered into AI tools; deletion rules

Essential for legal, educational, or healthcare data

Bias & Ethics

Testing for fairness; logging tool use

Crucial in hiring and community-facing decisions

Human Oversight

Requires review before external publication

Protects your brand and avoids bad automation

Training & Awareness

Staff education and tool vetting process

Builds accountability into your workflow

Incident Reporting

Defines what to do when something goes wrong

Quick containment of mistakes or breaches

6. Why Madison Businesses Should Care

Reputation & Trust – A policy shows customers and clients you’re serious about doing AI right.

Compliance Readiness – As state laws expand, you’ll be ready, not scrambling.

Operational Clarity – Your team knows the rules and feels empowered, not uncertain.

Risk Management – A policy helps you avoid privacy violations, legal issues, and PR nightmares.

7. Fast-Start Checklist for Madison

Audit your tools – ChatGPT, Jasper, Bard—what’s being used?

Download the template from AIUsagePolicy.com.

Customize it to your org’s size, data sensitivity, and goals.

Train your team on what’s in the policy and where to find it.

Review quarterly to stay aligned with new tech and laws.

Final Take on AI Usage Policies for Madison Businesses

Madison’s AI adoption is accelerating—from smart waste bins at UW to new statewide laws. If your organization is using AI without a policy, you’re exposed.

AIUsagePolicy.com offers a fast, professional, and customizable way to get covered.

If your business serves Madison, Sun Prairie, Middleton—or anywhere in Dane County—you already know the locals don’t shop blindly. They Google. They map. They pull out their phones and look for “best tacos near me” or “Dane County plumber.” And if your business doesn’t show up at the top of those results, you’re missing customers.

1. Google Business Profile (GBP) is your digital storefront

Your GBP (formerly Google My Business) shows up first in “near me” searches. Make sure:
• Your Name, Address, Phone (NAP) info is identical across all platforms.
• Hours are up-to-date—especially around holidays or changes.
• You post regularly: specials, events, photos.
• You respond to reviews—Madison consumers trust active profiles.

2. Website optimization beats window dressing

Local SEO isn’t just GBP. Your website must:
• Include local keywords (“Sun Prairie coffee shop,” “Middleton HVAC service”).
• Use schema markup so Google understands your service area.
• Load fast and look good on mobile—96% of local searches happen on phones.

3. Bring in local backlinks and citations

Trusted local mentions matter. Examples:
• Sponsoring the Monroe Street festival.
• Listings in official Dane County directories or community blogs.
• Links from local news sites or partners. These help show Google you’re worth noticing.

4. Manage your reputation—and keep the conversation going

Review volume is a freshness signal. Even a 4.7 average can hurt if you don’t get new reviews. Encourage happy customers to share their story—it boosts your SEO and credibility.

5. Create content tailored to Madison

Build blog posts and landing pages like:
• “Top Brunch Spots Near Monona Terrace”
• “How to Hire a Madison Electrician”
• “Why Dane County Retailers Love Spring Farmers Market Season”

6. Track performance—and adjust

Set up Google Analytics and Search Console so you can:
• See which local search terms bring traffic.
• Know when and where your GBP appears.
• Spot device or geographic gaps.
Local SEO is a marathon—not a sprint. Monthly check-ins keep you ahead.

Why the Digital Divide in Dane County Should Matter to Your Business

In October 2024, Dane County’s Refurbished Laptop Program and the City of Madison’s Digital Inclusion Week hub launch brought reliable internet and devices to underserved areas. That means more locals are online—and searching.

If your SEO is strong, you show up. If it’s weak, your customers land with a competitor.

Meet Webstix: Madison’s SEO Care Plans

• Want ongoing, local-focused SEO without lifting a finger.
• Need regular backlinking and review management.
• Want monthly insights tied to real-world results.
• Prefer a Madison-based team that answers your calls.

Action Steps

Schedule a chat with Webstix to explore their plans.

Webstix’s SEO Care Plans combine local know-how with ongoing support and transparency. If you care about being found (and staying found) across Madison and Dane County, they’re a smart choice.

Earlier this year, a large special assessment hit owners at a condominium on Madison’s far east side. The surprise charge caught many residents off guard—and they’re not alone. Across Dane County, condo associations are facing rising costs, aging buildings, and reserve funds that aren’t keeping up.

If you own a condo in Madison, you know how fast these assessments can appear. The roof needs replacing. The parking lot needs resurfacing. The siding is original to the ‘80s. And when there’s not enough saved up, the board sends you the bill.

But a former Madison condo owner thinks he’s found a way to help.

If you own a condo in Madison, you already know the drill. The roof needs replacing. The parking lot needs resurfacing. The siding is original to the ‘80s. And when there’s not enough in the reserve fund, owners get the bill.

They call it a special assessment, and if you’ve never been hit by one, consider yourself lucky. These charges can come out of nowhere—$2,000, $10,000, even more—and they’re not optional. You either pay, or things get ugly.

But a former Madison condo owner thinks he’s found a way to help.

One Website Offers a Different Kind of Solution

CondoFeesRelief.com is a new site launched by Tony Herman, a Madison resident who spent years stuck in a condo that he couldn’t sell. While his own assessment was “only” $700, it hit hard—and he saw how easily it could’ve been worse.

“A lot of people in HOAs and condo associations are just one surprise away from serious financial stress,” Herman says. “I wanted to offer something realistic that actually helps.”

His solution? A cable-alternative streaming service called CUE Broadcast that offers a recurring affiliate program. Anyone who signs up to share the service with others can earn $10 per subscriber, per month.

Do the Math: A Link That Pays You Every Month

Let’s say you refer 10 people. That’s $100/month—or $1,200/year—coming in regularly. The more people you help cut the cord, the more income you generate. And unlike most side hustles, you don’t need a website, a storefront, or any special tools. Just your link.

“You don’t have to change your TV provider. You don’t need board approval. You just start sharing your link,” Herman explains. “It’s about giving people a way to push back against rising costs.”

Sign up through CondoFeesRelief.com and you get a free starter pack with graphics, templates, and optional coaching. The idea is to make it dead-simple—even for people who’ve never done anything like this before.

Built for Madison Condo Owners

From Monona to Middleton, condos in the Madison area are getting older, and maintenance bills are piling up. Some associations are proactive. Others… not so much. But in every case, it’s the owners who pay.

This new program might not erase your assessment—but it could give you the breathing room to make it manageable.

Check it out here: CondoFeesRelief.com

If your business serves customers beyond the city of Madison—say, in Sun Prairie, Verona, Waunakee, or Stoughton—you might be missing one simple thing on your website that could help bring in more business: a service area map.

Wait, What’s a Service Area Map?

A service area map shows exactly where your business operates. It’s a visual representation of your coverage area, whether that’s a 30-mile radius around Madison or a specific set of surrounding towns. Instead of listing place names in a paragraph, you show it on a map.

It takes up less space, looks better, and tells customers right away: “Yes, we serve your area.”

Why Madison Businesses Should Use One

Here in Dane County, many businesses are mobile. Landscapers, roofers, cleaning companies, delivery services, electricians—they don’t just work in one ZIP code.

Adding a service area map to your website helps in a few key ways:

Builds trust – Customers see their town included and feel confident calling you.

Boosts local SEO – Google gets better signals about where your business operates.

Reduces confusion – Fewer calls asking “Do you come to Cottage Grove?”

Looks professional – A clean, branded map stands out more than plain text.

This Used to Be a Pain… But Not Anymore

In the past, adding a map like this meant messing around with Google Maps API keys, billing accounts, and complicated plugins. Most business owners didn’t bother, and even many web designers avoided it.

But a free tool called ServiceAreaMaps.com makes it fast and easy. Just type in your address, choose a radius, and copy the embed code into your site. That’s it. No logins, no billing setup, and no technical headaches.

It works great on WordPress, Squarespace, and even old-school HTML websites.

Here’s how it looks – a live example:

Want One? Go Now.

Whether you’re serving the greater Madison area, or have a more specific set of towns in mind, make sure your website shows it clearly with a custom map built using ServiceAreaMaps.com.

During an emergency, there may be instances where you need to help someone else. For example, if there’s a fire or a choking incident, knowing basic life-saving techniques can go a long way toward saving a person’s life.

Here are some tips for getting ready in case of an emergency, which are good to review so you keep them in mind:

The first step of helping is to call 911

Call 911 if:

You see someone who needs help and you are able or willing to offer assistance. Be sure not to put yourself in danger by going near an unstable situation or moving an injured person without proper training or equipment.

You, a family member, friend or pet need immediate medical attention. Try not to panic; think clearly about what you need and how best to get it. If possible, stay on the phone with 911 until help arrives so they can give further instructions regarding your specific situation.

Give the person oxygen if they’re having trouble breathing

If the person is having trouble breathing, give them oxygen as soon as possible by using a mask or holding their mouth and nose closed.

Hold the mask in place until they are breathing normally again. If you don’t have a mask, use your hands to cover their nose and mouth.

Know where the fire extinguisher is, and that it works and is not expired

A fire extinguisher is an important piece of emergency equipment to have at home. It should be stored in a place that is easy to get to, and the date on the label should be checked at least once a year. The most recent date on the label will tell you how long it’s been since your fire extinguisher was last tested. The test itself is straightforward: just take off the safety pin from the side of the extinguisher and squeeze its handle hard enough so that it releases some powder when you pull it back again; this means that there’s still CO2 gas inside your fire extinguisher. Then close up again with your pin (or screw cap) and replace where you found it!

Now let’s talk about how to actually use one of these things in case of emergency—those instructions are printed right there on all fire extinguishers, so hopefully everyone knows them by now! But just in case: point nozzle towards base of flames, press lever firmly down until foam fills hose or container, move away from area once foam has covered flames completely and wait for 30 seconds before returning

Keep a first aid kit handy

As a responsible adult, it’s important that you keep a first aid kit handy. It should contain the basics: bandages of various sizes, gauze pads and rolls, non-latex gloves, antiseptic wipes or spray, pain relievers (ibuprofen), scissors and tweezers. As well as personal items like your preferred brand of sunscreen or Chapstick if needed. The kit should be placed in an easily accessible location (such as inside your car glove box) so that it can be grabbed quickly when needed during an emergency situation.

Make sure that all family members know where the first aid kit is kept and how to use its contents in case there is no time for instruction while they’re trying to help someone else out!

Encourage everyone in your home to learn basic life-saving techniques

Encourage everyone in your home to learn basic life-saving techniques.

CPR is a great place to start. It’s simple and easy to learn, yet can be a lifesaver when someone has stopped breathing or has no pulse.

The Heimlich maneuver is another useful skill that anyone can master with practice. This technique can help dislodge foreign objects from the throat, like an apple core or piece of food that gets stuck there after eating – even if the victim isn’t choking but appears unresponsive (this is called “being unconscious”).

Knowing how to use a fire extinguisher could save your neighbors’ lives if their house caught on fire. You might not have time for lengthy training sessions before emergencies happen, so consider taking an online course.

If you don’t have choking safety skills, take a class or watch tutorial videos online

Take a choking safety class at your local Red Cross chapter, or study the topic online. Choking is a leading cause of death in children and adults, but with proper training you can prevent someone from choking on food or non-food items. For example, if you ever find yourself eating with a family member who has trouble chewing or swallowing their food properly (which is common among elderly people), learn how to perform the Heimlich maneuver on them so that they can continue enjoying eating experience without having to worry about choking.

You can also get certified in basic first aid through various organizations such as the American Heart Association or American Red Cross; these certifications include instruction on emergency protocols for dealing with emergencies like heart attacks, strokes and seizures—all life-threatening situations that require immediate medical attention.

Look for signs of choking when you’re eating with others

It’s important to know the signs of choking. Choking is a serious condition because it can lead to death. According to the American Red Cross, some signs of choking include wheezing, coughing and gagging. If someone is choking, ask them to cough or speak; if they can’t speak or cough on their own you need to help them by performing abdominal thrusts (the Heimlich maneuver).

Consider purchasing an anti-choking device, such as the LifeVac

Consider purchasing an anti-choking device, such as the LifeVac choking aid.

This device works by suctioning food and liquid out of the mouth with a plastic tube, so it can be used to clear an airway in someone who is unconscious or unable to breathe on their own. Anti-choking devices are extremely helpful in emergency situations, because they do not require any additional training or equipment beyond that which one already has access to during an emergency.

However, these devices will not work on objects stuck farther down into the throat than just above the vocal cords — meaning that if you only have access to an anti-choking device (and no other form of medical intervention), there’s still a chance that it won’t help your pet survive long enough for professional help to arrive.

Additionally, some pets may be too large for standard models available online; others may be too small for standard models available online; make sure you check before buying! Also keep in mind that many people don’t realize how easy it can be for a cat’s tongue or paw get caught between its teeth while trying desperately (but fruitlessly) remove itself from danger…so maybe hold off on bringing home one until after this particular situation has passed?

Be prepared to help others by learning these useful skills!

If you are ever in an emergency situation, knowing how to react and help others is vital. The best way to prepare yourself for this kind of scenario is by learning some basic first aid and CPR skills. If you are interested in becoming a certified first aid instructor, we recommend that you take one of our online courses. They will give you the knowledge base required for teaching classes, as well as providing access to all of our training materials at no extra charge!

For those who just want the basics and not necessarily certification (or any formal recognition), there are many online courses available that can teach what’s needed for basic survival skills and self-sufficiency in emergency situations. The American Red Cross also offers excellent resources for learning how best to respond if an emergency occurs where someone may be injured or injured themselves.

It’s important that everyone has access to basic tools such as fire extinguishers when they live on property with lots of combustible material like woodlands or brushy areas nearby.

What else?

There are many things you can do to help a person in need. If you’re not sure about what to do, it’s best to call 911 and wait for professional assistance. However, knowing how to do some basic first aid and choking safety skills will always be useful!

Located in Olin Park, this display has over 1 million lights and is open from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Eve and is generally open from 6pm to 10pm.

Shine on Madison

From November 24 to January 1, the zoo will be covered in over a million lights, with festive snowflakes hanging from every tree and ice rink. You can even enjoy a ride on the snowflake slide or take part in some snowshoeing! If you need to warm up after all that excitement, there’s also an ice skating rink or carousel.

If you’re looking for something more interactive, check out their train ride through “Winter Wonderland.” If you want to get an even closer look at how things are made at this magical place (and maybe take some pictures), consider volunteering as an elf—you’ll get free admission and snacks while helping keep Winter Wonderland running smoothly!

Madison WI has lots of places to see Christmas lights

Going through Maple Bluff and other areas in town will have lots of lights on houses as well.

So, what are you waiting for? Grab your friends, family and neighbors and head out to one of our many Christmas light displays in Madison WI. You won’t regret it!

Here in Madison, WI, the winters are cold and snowy. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have a blast! There’s plenty to do during the winter months when you want to bundle up and get out of your house:

Ice skating

You might be surprised to learn that Madison is home to more than a dozen public skating rinks.

The Madison Parks website lists all of the city’s ice skating locations, including their hours and admission prices. There are currently five outdoor rinks, one indoor rink at Monona Terrace and two ice sheets at Tenney Park.

The city also has an interactive skating map that shows all of its ice rinks in one place so you can easily find them on your phone or computer if you don’t want to print out the list from their website.

Frozen tundra

The frozen tundra is an area of the arctic tundra that is covered with a layer of permafrost, which is soil that remains frozen for two or more years. This ground can be up to 1 kilometer (about six-tenths of a mile) deep in some areas, making it incredibly difficult to dig through.

Snowmobiling

When it comes to enjoying the winter, there’s nothing quite as fun as snowmobiling. Snowmobiles are a great way to see the snowy landscape and can take you on tours around Madison or other parts of Wisconsin. Snowmobile resorts are also common in Madison; they’ll rent you a snowmobile that’s ready to go right away, so all you have to do is hop on and enjoy yourself! If you don’t want to rent one of these machines, then another option would be going on a guided tour through some kind of company (maybe even through your own school). If renting isn’t really your thing, then perhaps cross-country skiing or snowboarding will pique your interest—there are many places that rent equipment for both activities in town.

Snowmobiling is a great way for everyone from beginners who want an easy ride through experienced riders looking for extreme thrills! With trails throughout the state, there’s no end in sight when it comes to what fun things can be done this time of year!

Sledding

Sledding is a great activity for all ages and can be done in parks, backyards, or even on the street. If you’re going to sled, make sure to wear warm clothes and a helmet to keep yourself safe!

Winter Farmers’ Market

When is the Winter Farmers’ Market? The winter farmers’ market runs on Saturdays from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. from November through April (with some variation for holidays, inclement weather and other factors).

What can you find at the Winter Farmers’ Market? You’ll find all kinds of local produce like apples, squash and potatoes, as well as meats, cheese, honey and eggs (among other things). There are also several vendors who sell prepared foods such as jams or baked goods—you’ll have no trouble finding something delicious to bring home with you!

Where is the Winter Farmers’ Market held? The Madison Central Park will be hosting this year’s winter farmers’ market because it has ample parking available for visitors. On busy days though it may become difficult to park so be sure to give yourself enough time before heading over if that happens!

Winter festivals

Winterfest

Ice Fest

Winterfest at the Alliant Energy Center

Winter Light Fest

Snowflake Days

Area skiing

There are plenty of ski hills in the area like Cascade Mountain, Tyrol Basin, Devil’s Head and more. Take a ski or snowboard lesson this year and pick up a lifetime sport you’ll enjoy the rest of your life. Or, be a little more chill and go snow tubing. The vibe you get at ski areas is not something you’ll want to miss.

There are a ton of fun things to do in the winter, whether you love the cold or not.

There are a ton of fun things to do in the winter, whether you love the cold or not.

You can also take advantage of Madison’s vast transportation options and explore the city on your own two feet. With its excellent bus system, bike lanes and trails for walking or skating, Madison is one of the most walkable cities in America. There are also several public transportation options that make getting around town easy: Capital Metro buses operate from 5:30am – 11pm Monday through Saturday and 7am – midnight on Sunday; Madison Metro Bus runs seven days a week from 6:00am – 10:00pm with stops at major landmarks across Madison; Dane County Transit provides service throughout Dane County including routes to/from Milwaukee via Amtrak station.

Check out our Winter Attractions section for more ideas!

Get Out There!

We hope you’re ready to bundle up in your warmest clothes, grab your sleds, and head out into the snow. By following these tips and tricks for having fun in the cold weather, you’ll be well on your way to having a great time.

From classical music concerts to children’s plays and comedians, Madison has something for everyone. Here are several places you can check out if you’re looking for some fun this summer:

The Orpheum Theater

The Orpheum Theater is located at 203 West Mifflin Street, Madison, Wisconsin. They have shows all the time and their website offers a lot of information about what’s playing when: https://madisonorpheum.com/calendar/.

Tickets cost anywhere between $37 to $50 for an adult. Tickets can be purchased online or at the theater box office (hours vary). The theater is within walking distance of downtown Madison and it’s also close to several bus routes that go directly to campus, so if you’re looking for an easy way to get there without driving your car in traffic on Monroe Street then this would be a good option!

Overture Center

Overture Center for the Arts is a performing arts center in Madison, Wisconsin. It is the largest performing arts center in the state of Wisconsin and was designed by Cesar Pelli. The building opened in 1988, six years after its initial funding and construction efforts were approved by Madison city councilors.

The venue is home to several different performing groups including: Madison Symphony Orchestra; Theater Nova; Theater de la Jeune Lune; First Stage Children’s Theatre Company; Comedy Club On State; City Theatre Company; Actors Theatre of Milwaukee Repertory Company (ATM); Chazen Museum of Art at UW-Madison School of Medicine & Public Health (CMAPMAUWSH); The Hideout Theatre Co.; Traveling Light Productions Incorporated (TLP)

The Barrymore Theater

The Barrymore Theater has been the heart of Madison’s arts scene since 1921. Built by the Barrymore family—one of Madison’s oldest and most influential families—the theater has hosted everyone from The Beatles to Harry Houdini and beyond. Today, it’s part of the Overture Center for the Arts and hosts myriad performances throughout the year.

Comedy Club on State

Comedy Club on State (1600 East Washington Avenue) is a great place to see comedy. The club has shows seven days a week, and the comedy ranges from improvisational to stand-up to sketch comedy. To get tickets, you can go online or call 608-259-6100; the show usually begins at 8 p.m., but they require you arrive early in case it sells out (and you don’t want to be stuck outside).

There’s also some food available for purchase at the club if you arrive hungry and want something quick before or after the show—their menu includes pizza from Pizza Shuttle (which delivers), subs from Subway Sandwiches & Salads, burgers from Burger King, hot dogs and nachos from Nathan’s Famous Frankfurters & Hot Dogs and popcorn from Popcorn Heaven

Madison Children’s Museum

The Madison Children’s Museum is a great place to take kids. The museum has tons of hands-on exhibits for kids, and it’s located in the Madison Children’s Museum building.

The museum has a Discovery Room where kids can learn about different cultures around the world through displays and activities. There are also several other rooms with hands-on exhibits such as an optical illusion room, engineering room and art gallery. There is also a water play area with sprinklers that spray, fountains that bubble up and cooling towers that spray mist onto visitors’ faces! And if you’re looking for something less wet but still fun, there is a soft play area where kids can run around inside tunnels or climb on structures made out of foam padding material instead of wood or metal pieces (which might hurt if they fall).

You can enjoy classical, country and modern music, plays or comedy here in Madison.

Madison is a great city to live in, and there’s always something new to do here. Whether you enjoy a nice cup of tea or some classical music, we’re sure you’ll find something on the list below that interests you!

If you love the symphony and want to hear some classic music performed by professional musicians then check out the Madison Symphony Orchestra or the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra.

If country music is more your thing than classical then why not visit The Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum? There are plenty of exhibits about famous artists from past decades until now.

Ready for some modern tunes? Then listen to some jazz at Madison Jazz Fest each year which takes place over Labor Day weekend every year since 1988!

Looking for something more dramatic? Then check out where all plays are happening in town with our Theatre District map! This shows all theatre groups around town, be it community theatre groups like American Players Theatre Company or professional companies based downtown like Great Lakes Theater Festival production company that produced “Hamlet” last fall; visit them both this season while they’re still running shows here in Madison!

Get out there!

Madison is a beautiful city with lots of things to do. You can enjoy classical, country and modern music, plays or comedy here in Madison. This city has several theaters where you can enjoy shows with your friends and family. If you are looking for something fun to do on the weekend then visit Overture Center for a show!

Medicare Advantage plans were designed to give Medicare patients more options for their healthcare. But because there are so many different plans to choose from and so much information about them, it can be difficult for you to make the right decision. Luckily, we’ve done the hard work for you! Here’s what you need to know about Medicare Advantage:

Original Medicare (Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B) covers hospital stays, medical tests and doctor visits.

Original Medicare (Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B) covers hospital stays, medical tests and doctor visits. Medicare Part B also covers outpatient care.

If you want to stay with Original Medicare: You can do so if you want to stay with the original coverage provided by the federal government and not purchase any additional benefits or plans. Keep in mind that original Medicare does not include prescription drug coverage or dental coverage unless you are 65 years old or older and on Social Security disability benefits, in which case it does include dental coverage. If your income is too high for your state’s Medicaid program but still low enough for you to qualify for financial assistance with purchasing a plan through an insurance company (not Original Medicare), then it may be worth investigating other options such as getting a Medigap policy from companies such as Blue Cross Blue Shield or Cigna

Considering a Medicare Advantage plan? Look around.

If you’re thinking about enrolling in a Medicare Advantage plan, don’t just jump at the first option. Before signing up for your government-subsidized health insurance, do some research and ask questions.

Ask your doctor about the coverage offered by different plans. That way, he or she can help you make an informed decision based on what’s best for your situation.

Compare costs with other providers who offer similar services and benefits to the ones provided by Medicare Advantage plans. Also compare their customer reviews online—this will help you determine whether or not they have a good reputation (and if they’d be worth using).

It’s important to understand what a Medicare Advantage plan covers before you join.

You may be wondering what a Medicare Advantage plan is and how it works. Here’s the lowdown:

A Medicare Advantage plan offers additional coverage beyond the basic level that comes with traditional Medicare.

They’re available to all people who are eligible for Medicare, but they’re not required by law.

You can also choose to enroll in a separate health insurance plan called Medigap (or “gap” insurance), which will fill in any gaps left by your other coverage. If you choose to add on additional supplemental plans after that, all of these coverages work together as one big medical support system for you!

Drugs covered by Medicare may be limited by your state and your insurance company.

Medicare Advantage plans cover prescription drugs, but the coverage may be limited. Most Medicare Advantage plans cover brand name drugs and some cover generic drugs. Some Medicare Advantage plans only cover the most expensive brand name or generic drugs on the market. This is called a closed formulary. Other Medicare Advantage plans have an open formulary that lets you choose from different drug companies and drug options within each tier (like a silver plan).

If your doctor prescribes a medication that’s not on your plan’s list of covered medications (formulary), you can still get it if it falls into one of two categories: preferred or non-preferred.

For preferred drugs, your plan will pay 80% of the cost for the first year, then 100% starting in year two for both preferred and non-preferred drugs in years three through six after enrollment in a Medicare Advantage plan if you’re enrolled with Original Medicare part B drug coverage (Part D). If you decide to switch to another drug company that offers discounts on Preferred Generic Drugs or Specialty Tier 1/2 Drugs – including Targeted Generic Drug Programs – then there will likely be no gap in coverage due to changes made by other insurance companies offering different types of benefits such as Medigap supplemental insurance policies available from private insurers outside any federal program such as Medicaid which provides healthcare access but does not necessarily offer better rates compared against what was already provided through Medicaid itself.”

Even if your plan doesn’t cover dental care, you can use the networks on a stand-alone dental plan.

If you’re thinking about getting dental care, Medicare Advantage may not be the best choice for you. Most plans don’t cover any dental care at all. However, if your plan doesn’t cover dental services, there are stand-alone dental plans available that can help you save money on your dental care expenses.

You can compare stand-alone dental plans on the Medicare website by going to https://www.medicare.gov/find-a-plan/compare-plans and entering your zip code.

Be sure to get all of the information you need before choosing a health plan.

Once you’ve decided on a health plan, make sure to review its terms carefully. This includes checking out the plan’s provider network and drug coverage, as well as any limits on what is or isn’t covered.

If a plan has an annual deductible and upper limits on spending, it could be more convenient than traditional Medicare but cost more each year.

If you have questions about how a specific Medicare Advantage plan works with other services like vision or dental care, contact that provider directly or call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) for help.

Find Out More

Don’t miss out on important information about Medicare Advantage. Protect yourself with the right plan and get the care you need by asking questions and understanding what’s covered.
