David Choe (born 1976, Los Angeles, California) is an American painter, muralist, graffiti artist and graphic novelist of Korean descent.[1] He achieved art world success with his "dirty style" figure paintings—raw, frenetic works which combine themes of desire, degradation, and exaltation.[2] Outside of galleries, he is closely identified with the bucktoothed whale he has been spray-painting on the streets since he was in his teens.[3]

Choe's work appears in a wide variety of urban culture and entertainment contexts. For example, he provided the cover art for Jay-Z and Linkin Park's multi-platinum album Collision Course, and created artwork to decorate the sets of Juno and The Glass House.[4] In 2005, internet entrepreneur Sean Parker, a longtime fan,[5] asked him to paint graphic sexual murals in the interior of Facebook's first Silicon Valley office,[6] and in 2007, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg commissioned him to paint somewhat tamer murals for their next office.[7] Those murals were loosely re-created by Choe's friends Rob Sato and Joe To for the set of the film The Social Network.[8] According to various media sources, Choe chose to receive company stock in payment for the Facebook murals. His shares were valued at approximately $200 million on the eve of Facebook's 2012 IPO.[9] During the 2008 presidential race, Choe painted a portrait of then-Senator Barack Obama for use in a grassroots street art campaign. The original was displayed in the White House.[10]

Curators Tina Ziegler and Moniker co-founder Frankie Shea have cemented their working relationship following on from the success of their exhibitions curated for Moniker Projects.

Californian Ziegler, now residing between Barcelona & London has created a name for herself through exhibiting the work of some of the most renowned international proponents of the pop surrealist art movement. 

In 2010, Ziegler published Hunt and Gather Art - a hardcover publication that features the work of 40 international artists. She was listed as one of London's top 20 cultural engineers as part of the Dream Factory project supported by Honda.

Frankie Shea, who founded Campbarbossa gallery in 2005 quickly found his place as a leading tastemaker in the finer side of the street art movement. Shea founded and curated the Moniker Art Fair in 2010 and since has gone on to work with brands such as Adidas, Montana Cans & Wagamama promoting the work of national and international emerging and established artists.

Shea & Ziegler have curated exhibitions for galleries, museums and the Moniker Art Fair 2011. 

They are a primary source of works for artists Ben Eine, Dabs Myla, Herakut, Luke Chueh and Matt Small.

 Swiss-born artist Till Rabus will make his UK debut at our Rathbone Gallery with his new exhibition Forms of Everyday. 

 Drawing from his day-to-day existence, Rabus highlights the implicit, yet forgotten decay of one’s habitual surroundings. Showcasing a selection of bric-a-brac come to life in his methodically detailed paintings, the artist transforms the most ordinary into an extraordinary phenomenon. 

 Paying homage to the pictorial tradition of old master painting and its iconography, the artist employs a form of radical realism; yet, a tainted shroud consistently lies over his works, allowing us to get a glimpse of today’s cold brutality with subtly humorous elements.

"Shepard Fairey has been dubbed one of the most influential street

 huge mural on a public building, Mandala Ornament. 

In this artwork Mandala,

JONATAN RIVERA A.K.A. JADE

Jonatan Rivera nació en Junín, Perú en el año 1983. 

A
 los siete meses de nacido su madre y él emigraron a Lima. 

Rivera se 
crió en el distrito de Chorrillos, estudió en un colegio nacional y allí
 se despertó su curiosidad por el arte, cuando tenía once años. La pobre
 enseñanza de su centro escolar y su creciente interés por el arte lo 
motivaron a dedicarse más al dibujo y la pintura. 

A los diecisiete años 
estudió en la Pre Escuela
 Nacional de Bellas Artes, pero desistió de postular al último momento, 
desarrollando su obra empíricamente. 

Rivera ha encaminado su obra como 
un autodidacta desde 1997 y actualmente se desenvuelve como artista 
grafico lo cual lo mantiene activo, en un proceso de creación constante.

A
 la fecha, Rivera insiste en usar la pintura como un reflejo de lo que 
absorbe su percepción diariamente y sigue reencontrándose con sus raíces
 andinas para el desarrollo de su estilo grafico.

SCAMBIO D'AUTORE - SUCCEDE A MILANO

Un muro che collega e unisce la notte con il giorno, il centro 
con la  periferia, il passato di Georges de La Tour con il presente di 
sei  artisti contemporanei.

Il progetto "Scambio d’autore" nasce dalla 
volontà di continuare il percorso artistico cominciato con la mostra di 
Georges De La Tour attraverso l’energia e il talento di sei artisti 
contemporanei che, con la loro arte, daranno nuova vita al muro che ha 
ospitato per tutto il periodo della mostra le opere di La Tour. 

Un progetto sviluppato in una sola notte all’interno della sala Alessi 
di palazzo Marino in pieno centro a Milano e svelato al pubblico e ai 
cittadini all'interno dello spazio Superground nella periferia sud della
 città. Un progetto dove l'arte diventa il trait d'union tra il
 passato del pittore francese e il presente di sei artisti 
contemporanei, tra il centro di Milano dove il muro verrà dipinto e la 
periferia della città dove il muro verrà ricostruito, tra la notte in 
cui l'opera verrà realizzata e il giorno in cui l'opera verrà esposta.

Per tutta la notte del 9 Gennaio infatti, sei artisti provenienti da differenti correnti espressivi (poesia, arte pop, street art, graffiti, illustrazione e pittura) dipingeranno con colori acrilici ad acqua la struttura
 all'interno della Sala Alessi di Palazzo Marino costruita per allestire
 le opere di De La Tour. 

La performance durerà all'incirca 17 ore 
durante le quali il backstage del lavoro degli artisti verrà ripreso e 
mandato in streaming on line sul sito www.lucisullarte.it.

Una volta 
completato, il muro verrà ricostruito ed esposto pubblicamente presso lo
 spazio espositivo "Superground" nella periferia Sud di Milano (Romolo) così da creare un ponte tra il centro della città e la sua periferia.

Gli artisti coinvolti nel progetto sono tutti italiani, di Milano,
 con alle spalle mostre e pubblicazioni personali e collettive che 
nonostante la giovane età (tra i 30 e i 35 anni) si sono distinti nel 
panorama artistico nazionale. Tutti gli artisti nascono dalla corrente 
della street art ma hanno sviluppato negli anni una propria personalità 
artistica ed espressiva che rende le loro opere uniche. Dalle poesie di 
ivan che da anni utilizza le strade di tutto il mondo come pagine 
bianche per i suoi versi, alle geometrie morbide di Pao e quelle più femminili e delicate di Nais che si scontrano con la materia impulsiva delle opere post-espressioniste di Tawa e lo stile pop illustrativo di TvBoy e dei ritratti street di Seacreative.

Il progetto è promosso dall'associazione culturale Art Kitchen
 che produce e sviluppa progetti artistici, culturali e creativi con il 
fine di diffondere l'arte, creare esperienza e far fiorire il cielo. Il 
muro verrà riallestito all’interno dello spazio culturale Superground, un luogo, nato dalle ceneri di una vecchia mensa operaia, che ospita attività artistiche, sociali, culturali e teatrali.

We're excited to announce that on Saturday January 14th we will be presenting Hybrid Thinking at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery in NYC.

The show is our first curatorial project since the 11 Spring exhibition in December 2006.

 For Hybrid Thinking we've brought together six preeminent emerging 
artists from around the world... Dal, from Beijing, China (now based in 
Cape Town, South Africa); Herakut, the amazing duo based in Frankfurt, 
Germany; Hyuro, from Buenos Aires, Argentina, currently based in 
Valencia, Spain; Roa, based in Belgium; Sit, from the Netherlands; and 
Vinz, born and based in Valencia, Spain.

 For most of the artists, Hybrid Thinking will mark their first exhibition in New York Ciry.  

 Over the coming days we'll be sharing with you some of the incredible 
work created for the show.
