Produced by Stuart Price, the collaboration between Madonna and Charli is a celebration of the fearless beginnings and influences that shaped each artist’s singular paths and led to distinctive new track, channeling the spirit of Madonna’s origin-story hit single.

Danceteria Afterhours follows Madonna and Charli’s Club Confessions party with Saint Laurent during Paris Fashion Week, and a series of playful social media exchanges between the two artists that have since fueled speculation about a potential musical speculation.

The CDs will ship in early november while the new Afterhours Mix drops September 24 at 6 PM PST / 9 PM EST

Danceteria is the latest single from Madonna’s widely acclaimed No.1 album, Confessions II. Critics and listeners alike have particularly praised the album’s deeply personal themes – exploring love, trauma, loss, betrayal and healing. Up next, Madonna is set to open the MTV Video Music Awards this Sunday with her
first performance at the show in 23 years. This will also mark her fifth performance at the VMAs – more than any other artist in the show’s history. Madonna leads this year’s field with a career high 13 nominations. Since opening the very first VMA ceremony,
Madonna has delivered some of the show’s most provocative, talked about performances and unforgettable moments which have helped define the VMAs.

Madonna took over her TikTok and Instagram profiles last night to tease about her upcoming collaboration with Charli xcx. The caption of her video reads:

Let’s take it to the East side baby…… 9.24.26

The first hints of a Madonna & Charli collaboration appeared when Confessions II was about to be released, when an then unknown track with “Charli… Madonna…” vocals and matching visuals on the screens was played at the after party for the Madonna in Conversation & Film Screening of Confessions II – The Film event at Bus Palladium in Paris.

Madonna then started teasing two weeks ago – with a short video set to the notes of L.E.S. Girl and a Thinking about Charli…. text, to which Charli xcx promptly replied with a Wait… I got something I wanna talk about… comment.

Last night’s clip – which the two are sharing on Instagram – is using You wanna talk about Madonna and Charli? as the headline and is set to a previously unreleased track that the social network is labelling as Danceteria Afterhours.

What we know so far (and what we can expect)

• The date: the Reel hints to next Thursday, September 24. It’s safe to assume that a new Danceteria Afterhours remix will drop on the day, most likely when it’s midnight (and therefore, technically, Friday) in Central Europe.
• The remix: with Afterhours being the signature label used for his previous Confessions II remixes, we expect the new track to be produced and remixed by Stuart Price.
• The video: both Madonna and Charli in the Reel appear to be on a set, with matching outfits themed to colour red: does this mean we’ll finally have the long awaited video for Danceteria?
• The Easter eggs in the outfits: Madonna is wearing a red Supreme hoodie customised with a print of the Steven Meisel photograph used for the cover of her Like a Virgin single. Charlie is wearing her black garter.
• The VMAs: the Awards ceremony is on Sunday, September 27, you know that Madonna is performing and opening the show and you also know that a CBS press release we reported about yesterday mentions that she will be joined by special guests (plural).

So… You wanna talk about Madonna and Charli?

CBS and MTV today announced nominations for four VMAs social categories and Madonna is running for Best Long Form Video with Confessions II – The Film and Best Album with Confessions II.

Madonna has therefore a chance to become the first artist to win for best long-form video twice at the Awards. She was a winner back in 1991, the first time it was presented, with The Immaculate Collection.

The other two social categories are Best Group and Song of Summer.
All voting will be hosted on the MTV Instagram Story until Sunday, Sept. 27 at 11:00 AM, ET.

CBS and MTV announced today that Madonna – the most nominated artist of the night – will open the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards for her first live performance at the show in 23 years.
The Queen of Pop returns to the VMAs stage fresh off the release of her critically acclaimed #1 album Confessions II.

This year she is up for five awards that can be voted by the fans every day at vote.mtv.com:

• Video of the Year (Confessions II – The Film)
• Artist of the Year
• Song of the Year (Bring Your Love, with Sabrina Carpenter)
• Best Collaboration (Bring Your Love, with Sabrina Carpenter)
• Best Dance (Confessions II – The Film)

You can vote up to 20 times per category every day during Power Hour, running daily 1-2 p.m. ET, when you have 20 votes instead of 10.

Madonna is also nominated in six professional categories with Confessions II – The Film:

• Best Direction – TORSO
• Best Art Direction – Camille Spiller
• Best Cinematography – Daniel Landin

Spotify has joined the VMAs as the official music and video partner, extending the event beyond the live broadcast. The collaboration connects fans directly with Madonna’s music post-performance and features exclusive content, including archival footage from past VMAs.

Madonna last performed at the awards show 23 years ago, when Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Missy Elliott joined her for their iconic 2003 opening performance of Like a Virgin / Hollywood.

As the leading 2026 VMAs nominee, Madonna enters the night this year with a career-high 11 nominations and looks to add to her 19 competitive career wins, with nods including Video of the Year, Artist of the Year and Song of the Year.

This year marks the third time she has led VMAs nominations. Madonna previously earned nine nominations for Vogue in 1990 and another nine for Ray of Light and Frozen in 1998.

In 1986 Madonna became the first solo female artist to receive the prestigious Video Vanguard Award in 1986. Her Like a Virgin performance during the inaugural 1984 broadcast became one of the most groundbreaking moments in MTV and pop culture history.

Other show-stopping moments at the show include the bold, high-energy opening performance of Express Yourself (1989); and the theatrical 18th-century-inspired staging of Vogue (1990) – widely hailed as one of the greatest live television performances of all time – and the gender-bending performance of Bye Bye Baby (1993).

Back in 2003 video editor Dustin Robertson created the acclaimed Nobody Knows Me remix video set to the music of the Peter Rauhofer Private Life remix for the song of the same name off the American Life album. Condensating the first twenty-three years of Madonna’s career in less than 9 minutes, Nobody Knows Me (Aviddiva Remix) served as both a milestone and a benchmark for montage videos highlighting an artist’s career.

But as Madonna herself would say, there is more, and twenty-three years Dustin was inspired by the exciting dance music explosion –  and even more peak success – of Confessions II and decided it was a good time to get to work and not only upscale the original Nobody Knows Me remix video to HD to catch up with technology, but also to update the entire piece and make it complete, correct and current.

And this is the story So Far.

During the summer of 2003, while Madonna was working with me in person on yet another of quite a few projects together, the Hollywood music video edit in my home studio with our dear friend Jean-Baptiste Mondino, at AVIDDIVA on Electric Avenue in Venice, I showed Madonna an early rough cut of my pioneering, trailblazing gay bodybuilding feature film Pumping Velvet, (the first and only gay bodybuilding movie until 2026) In the film I feature a two-minute Madonna montage of magazine covers I had collected over my lifetime of Madonna love to homage her in my life story movie. When it ended, she said, “But there’s more!” “I know but this is a movie about me, Madonna, not you”, I defended and laughed. She continued, “Still… there’s more.”

An hour after she left, I got a call from her manager at the time, Caresse Henry, “I’ve never heard Madonna so quiet. She’s always talking but she was silent the entire drive home from your loft. When I dropped her off, she said, “Call AVIDDIVA and have him put my whole life in order to the Peter Rauhofer Private Life remix of Nobody Knows Me. I don’t want to shoot anything new for that video.” And so, I did. She sent over her daily journal since 1985 with everything she did in order. My gay cousin Matt helped me put it together for over a month and we sent it off.

I get another call from Caresse. Caresse said Madonna teared up after watching it and only had a few notes. “Madonna was even considering performing in front of it for the 20th anniversary of the MTV VMAs coming up but quickly reconsidered as it would have been too self-aggrandizing.” Nobody Knows Me AVIDDIVA remix was serviced to bars and dance clubs globally and I have seen it everywhere, including posted on madonna dot com and Madonna’s Vevo on YouTube. Such a thrilling honor.

That first piece covered her first twenty-three years. Twenty-three years later we are still enjoying yet even more peak success with yet another exciting dance music explosion I’m so inspired by and so passionate about. Well, seems like as good a time as any to get to work and not only upscale Nobody Knows Me remix video to HD to catch up with technology, but let’s update the entire piece and make it complete, correct and current.

Over the past twenty-three years of looking at the old version I saw where I had left important things out and messed up the order on some things. Madonna was so sweet and forgiving about that. She certainly deserves an updated, upscaled, complete career montage a la AVIDDIVA. After all, she paid for this lifetime video montage commission, (I even saved the Boy Toy, Inc. pay stub!) and so I have the honor and privilege of continuing with this commission in 2026 as her artistry, impact and life are certainly far from over and, after all, it is, in fact, my duty to maintain this historical and certainly devotional oblation.

Forty-six years in exactly twenty-two minutes. I love a challenge. If Madonna can keep going well so can I. Let’s do this!

Love Sensation is my favorite track on this album and so I began to assemble a killer soundtrack right as it first dropped in early July. For the next 8 weeks I worked my ass off, around the clock, joyfully in service to my Queen. The one true Queen. As always, Madonna videos fall effortlessly into place for me and I had a blast. I grew up on this to become this. It is my destiny.

I wanted to post this for her birthday, but it simply was not done. I am fifty-four now- this intensity of work on a project was a rather different proposition for me back in 2003. My god I don’t know how she does it! What an inspiration to us all.

And by the way… just like she said last time, “There’s more!” There is always more Madonna. More of absolutely everything to discover about her and her artistry and epic life. There’s no way I could even begin to do her sprawling, one-of-a-kind life story justice in a twenty-two-minute montage. I still have about 8,793 primo still selects alone I wish I could somehow fit into this! But it sure was fun to create my official AVIDDIVA take on her journey. Both back in 2003 and again today in 2026. So much fun! Hope some of my favorite moments are some of yours! She really is such an incredible ball of energy with the most wonderful, open heart. God, I just adore her.

While the second half of August is traditionally a month of holidays in Madonnaland, there was still some space for businesses: Madonna updated her profile pic on the social networks, switching from the portrait by Rafael Pavarotti used for the launch of the Confessions II album to another picture by the same photographer that everyone would immediately connect to her campaign for KIKO Milano.
The swap wasn’t obviously unintentional, and in the following weeks the advertising and the commercials that you’ve seen in the U.S. market started appearing in the magazines, on the walls, in the stores and on TV across Europe. Have you met KIKO?

Madonna’s Danceteria is finally receiving an official remix treatment with the 7:08 minutes long Harry Romero Remix being released on the digital platforms at midnight tonight.

The original version of the song on Confessions II, written alongside Andrew Watt, Henry Walter (Cirkut) and Stuart Price, has already turned into a massive club staple and secured Madonna’s milestone 20th hit on the Billboard Dance Airplay Chart, where it currently resides at No. 18.

Today is a BIG one for me that will stay with me for a long time.
Being asked to remix Madonna latest single Danceteria off her new album is a career high.

Growing up in the 80’s never ever did I think I would one way or another be creatively involved with such a pop icon. She, along with Michael and Prince, has been the soundtrack to my youth and the youth of so many. My friend and manager Ralph Moore says it best.. there’s not a day that goes by that we don’t hear her voice or her name being said.

And here’s a short story on how this kinda happened, I think.
About a year or so ago I made a bootleg of one of her very early singles Physical Attraction. I made this to simply play in my DJ sets. I gave it to Carl Craignet and Honey Dijon.
I then see a video a couple months back of HDJ playing my bootleg at a listening party in London with M right next to her. In the same vid you see M asking HDJ what she was playing.

The call came in a week later asking me to remix Danceteria. I guess it always comes back to what I do in the studio. That has been my calling card for 3 decades. So from this basement in New Jersey to the world… today we celebrate.

Harry’s manager Ralph Moore also shared this story:

Growing up in Mid Sussex, I only saw three evolving, omnipresent pop/dance artists globally adored by one word alone. Madonna. Prince. Michael. (Later of course they were joined by a boy from Bushey called George.) But there was only one woman in this brattish pack, and her disco initially represented Detroit, then the clubs (especially Danceteria) and later a mixture of top tier songwriting, (blonde) ambition and more seismic hit singles than anyone else in history. There is never a day that I don’t hear Madonna in the wild. Her collaborators – among them Shep Pettibone, Jellybean, Stephen Bray and now Stuart Price – were always astute. William Orbit’s sudden departure last week is still being felt by the wider dance community, but Stuart’s now back as captain of her ship.

When Stuart jumped in the saddle for Confessions and now Confessions 2, things got really interesting. Finally, she had a foil she could trust all the way (Hung Up, Sorry, Bring Your Love and ‘L.E.S. Girl’ are all top tier M) and in return, he could help steer an iconic artist who’s always looking forwards. Two months ago, Harry Romero and I were invited to remix Danceteria from Confessions 2 and all of a sudden, we were both invited into the inner sanctum. The remix was needed in a week. A week!! Stuart and M were away at The World Cup Final. Parts were sent across. As Neil Tennant commented wittily earlier this summer, Madonna was now a duo.

This week, I get to fulfil a lifelong ambition by working with the team at Maverick and Warner Music to deliver what I think might be the best remix of Harry’s career. It dropped today. The Lou Reed-sampling original is the sort of song you might have heard at Pacha in the 90s, but the remix is as fierce and contemporary as you would expect from New Jersey’s Romero. Stuart personally requested us to join the second Confession and we join a roll-call that includes Honey Dijon, Peggy Gou and Stuart Price himself. It’s one of the proudest moments of my career as a manager and we’re just getting started.

The nominations for the 2026 MTV VMAs have been announced today, and Madonna is leading with nods for 11 Moon Persons, including those for video, artist and song of the year.

As Paul Grein on Billboard.com notes, this is the third time in Madonna’s career she is the leading nominee, and the first since 1998, when she won video of the year for the first time with Ray of Light.
Madonna was also the leading nominee in 1990, the year she was nominated for the top award with Vogue; in both of those years, she had 9 nods, hence this year’s tally of 11 represents a personal best for the legendary star.

Seven of the eight artists with the most nominations this year are women; following Madonna’s 11 nominations are Taylor Swift (9), Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter (7 each), Bruno Mars, Pink Pantheress and Zara Larsson (5 each); and LISA (4).

Madonna has been nominated in every decade of her musical career and amassed 19 competitive MTV VMA wins. She became the first solo female artist to receive the Video Vanguard Award in 1986.

VOTING is now open for 13 categories at vote.mtv.com – including 5 Madonna is nominated for – and today, August 18, you can vote up to 20 times per category instead of 10.

The two-hour awards show will broadcast live on CBS on Sunday, September 27 at 7:30 p.m. Eastern and 4:30 p.m. PST, from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. It will also simulcast on MTV and be available to stream on Paramount+ in the U.S.

The show will become available to stream globally the next day on Paramount+ and MTV.

This year the show returns the Los Angeles area for the first time since 2017, when it took place at The Forum in Inglewood, and it is the second time in a row that it airs on CBS.

Those who are familiar with the Outernet off Tottenham Court Road may have been wondering why this unique location in the heart of London and its 23,000 square feet of floor-to-ceiling 8K screens weren’t part of the Confessions II promotional machine.

Back in 2023 Outernet London has featured Madonna through its massive, 360-degree immersive digital display showcasing an epic mix of archival footage, photographs, music videos and album cover artworks for the announcement of The Celebration Tour.

Tomorrow, as Madonna celebrates her birthday, they will be bringing together music, fans and the visual language of Confessions II with Madonna Celebration: C’Mon Meet Me On The Dancefloor, a 6 minute interactive installation showing every 30 minutes at The Now Building.

• Where: The Now Building, by the cross roads of Oxford Street and Tottenham Court Road, London
• When: August 16, 2026, from 10 AM to 10 PM, approx every 30 mins. Duration: 6 mins.

This new interactive installation will celebrate Madonna’s birthday in central London bringing together music, large-scale visual storytelling and fan participation across the Outernet London 23,000 square feet of floor-to-ceiling 8K immersive screens.

Created and directed by London-based Lookport Studio in collaboration with Outernet London, the installation has been designed specifically for the venue’s vast 360-degree digital environment – bringing Madonna’s visual world to an entirely new scale – and will celebrate her extraordinary creative legacy while also reflecting the visual language of Confessions II, bringing music and imagery together across one of London’s most distinctive digital spaces.

At the heart of the installation is an interactive fan experience inviting visitors to contribute to the work themselves. Fans will be able to leave a personal message, with selected photographs and messages appearing across Outernet’s monumental screens alongside contributions from other fans.

Alex Wolf, Founder and Creative Director at Lookport Studio said in a statement:

Madonna helped write the language of modern pop culture through decades of relentless work, constant reinvention and a refusal to stand still. We wanted to honour that drive and give the audience a genuine way to express their own connection to her work – through personal stories, emotions and messages.
C’MON MEET ME ON THE DANCEFLOOR is conceived as a public celebration rather than a retrospective – bringing together Madonna’s latest visual language with a more personal layer shaped by the people who come to see it.

Love Sensation debuts straight into the Top 10 of the UK Singles Chart at No.8 with 19,707 units sold. It is Madonna‘s 65th Top 10 hit in the country – her second of this decade – and Kylie‘s 37th, her third of the decade.

This is also the first Top 10 hit entry from Confessions II, and the 4th in the  Top 100.
