Here’s our first Confessions Daily report after Madonna’s epic rendition of Music at the World Cup halftime show. Today we’re talking of reissues and movie screenings.

• The Sainsbury’s Vinyls Are Back!

Six Madonna classic albums that were originally printed on coloured vinyl about ten years ago will be  available again in the stores on Friday, July 24.

Like A Virgin, True Blue, Like A Prayer, Erotica (2LPs), Ray Of Light (2LPs) and Music were first released in several batches as part of a partnership between Warner and UK supermarket chain Sainsbury’s and have now been reissued by Rhino to indie music stores.

• Madonna 2026 Japan Reissues

The sixteen Madonna CDs from Warner Music Japan’s Forever Young series Vol.13 will be available worldwide on September 18.

The collection includes the first 14 Madonna studio album up to Madame X and include both I’m Breathless and Who’s That Girl – giving great points to those who consider these two soundtrack-like records an essential part of the Queen of Pop’s studio album catalogue.

Just like in Japan – where the collection has been released in May – each CD is sold separately and is now available for pre-order at several online retailers including madonna.com.

• Confessions II – The Film in London

Cinema in the Square is an outdoor queer cinema event taking place at The Arzner’s cinema in London across the last three weekends of August, including Bank Holiday Monday on the 31st.
From Madonna to Mary Poppins, they have 28 queer & queer-adjacent films for you to enjoy in the summer heat in Bermondsey Square.

Their Madonna event takes place on Saturday, 22nd August and will begin with a screening of Confessions II – The Film, directed by TORSO and produced by Division and based on the first six tracks of Confessions II.
Then there will be a 15 minute interval halfway through Madonna – The Confessions Tour, filmed at London’s Wembley Arena during her worldwide sold-out 25-city Confessions Tour – 2006’s top-grossing tour world-wide – and  featuring songs from throughout the queen’s career but largely focuses on Confessions On A Dance Floor.
Runtime: 155 minutes

Seating is unallocated. All ticketholders will receive wireless headphones. Membership discounts and free tickets do not apply for Cinema in the Square.

The first-ever FIFA World CupTM Final Halftime Show opened in the tunnels of New York New Jersey Stadium with an electrifying performance by Madonna, riding in a dune buggy driven by Brazilian football legends Ronaldo and Ronaldinho.

Madonna performed a new version of her 2000 hit Music, interpolated with Disco Inferno by The Trammps and her recent single Danceteria from her critically acclaimed new album Confessions II.

A new Love Sensation Remixes three-track digital single has been released to the digital platforms; it features the album version of the song packed together the Floorplan Remix and the salute’s infinite passion mix of the Confessions II track.

The two remixes were previously available for download only on the Afterhours Edition of the album; this one has now been added to the catalogue of the other streaming platforms and can also be played without a subscription or purchase.

In Germany Confessions II is the No. 1 album in the Top 20 Pop-Charts and No. 2 in the Official Album Charts. These two German charts measure completely different formats using different calculations: the general chart combines all genres and is based strictly on revenue value, with local acts marketing collectible, high-priced limited editions receiving an advantage and often blocking international pop stars from reaching the No. 1 spot.
The Top 20 Pop-Charts filters out rap, rock and techno to focus on pop music only, with a ranking compiled on a blend on unit sales, streaming and radio airplay: and this is where the Queen of Pop resides.

In Japan the album entered the official Oricon Albums Chart at No. 45 but this is not unexpected as Western pop releases have seen lower initial physical sales positions on the main Japanese charts in recent years in a market heavily favouring domestic acts.

The official results are in: Confessions II is Madonna’s 10th album to reach the top of the Billboard 200, the album chart of reference for the United States. 43 years after her debut album, Madonna becomes the first act with a No. 1 album in the 2020s to have also topped the chart in 3 other decades, the 1980s (3 No. 1s), the 2000s (4) and the ‘10s (two).

Confessions II launches with 134,000 equivalent album units in the week ending July 9, according to Luminate, marking the largest week for a dance album this year and Madonna’s own best week, by units, since the Billboard 200 transitioned to an equivalent album units-ranked list at the end of 2014.

In a world increasingly dominated by streaming, Confessions II debuts at the top of Billboard 200 largely thanks to 114,000 pure sales (in fact, it will also be No. 1 on Top Album Sales ). An additional 19,000 streaming equivalent albums equal 20.1 million on-demand official streams of the full set of songs – Madonna’s largest streaming week ever for an album – and 1,000 track equivalent albums. Date from the three different categories, compiled by Luminate, let the Billboard 200 chart rank the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption.

Of the album’s opening-week sales, purchases of the 15 vinyl variants reached 59,000 units, marking Madonna’s biggest week on vinyl since Luminate began electronically tracking sales in 1991.

Where do we start? It is not easy to report about last night’s Club Confessions New York at the Knockdown Center in Queens and most of all it feels weird to add words to the images and videos that came out in record numbers.
We didn’t count them, but they seem to be even more than those from the album release party in London last week, and while we keep reposting those that have been shared on Instagram and TikTok (thank you, all of you!), they are so many that our dedicated Highlight has already reached the maximum number of entries.

So let’s leave the images and the videos speak for themselves and make a few observations.

Club Confessions New York was announced by Madonna herself with an Instagram story on July 8, only three days before the event took place at Knockdown Center on Saturday, July 11.
While certainly many people were involved and in the know, the announcement came out of the blue for many fans, with the album already in the stores (and a date that was outside the first week of sales, promotion wise) and a major event already scheduled for next Sunday (the World Cup Half Time Show).

But as we now know, Club Confessions did not end in London on July 2nd.

Madonna hinted a few times at the possibility of setting up a series of club dates. She wondered about what happens when you walk into a nightclub or walk onto the dance floor or go to a rave? in her Interview cover story, then at the Q&A following the screening of Confessions II – The Film in Paris, where she was asked about whether she prefers playing intimate clubs or massive arenas she explained that she loves both, and then playfully teased: “what if I had a rave? The Club of Love tour.”
And again, asked by Graham Norton is she was going to tour with Confessions II, she replied:

I think I’ll do promo tours for a while, and then in the summertime something bigger…

While the answer fuelled rumors of a possible Glastonbury headlining in 2027, many assumed that the promo tours Madonna was referring to when she recorded the interview in May was made of Club Confessions gigs.

The format is now in its fourth reiteration if we count the nights at The Abbey in West Hollywood, at Paradis Latin in Paris for Saint Laurent, at Magazine London for the album launch party and in New York last night. Madonna’s 10-minute surprise show in Times Square with Grindr was also labeled as Club Confessions, but it was a substantially different experience.

For the first time in Club Confessions, Madonna‘s name appeared as the headliner next to the dee-jays last night in New York. Stuart Price, Honey Dijon, FCUKERS, Junior Sanchez, and Sam-E.

Just as it happens when Madonna tours, she dives deeper into the mood after the first few dates, and last night she appeared gorgeous as ever, playful, having fun and digging the moment more than in any previous Club show. She also had the chance to perform more album tracks, now that Confessions II is released, and those became instanly highlight of the night, like School and Danceteria.

Is Club Confessions here to stay? We aren’t able to answer that, but we know for sure that Motha is having fun and the fans are full of Madonna’s love, no matter if she appears on stage for a short period of time only – in fact, we haven’t heard a single one who are not loving it.

Come to the Club, come into the Club of Love.

The event takes place at Knockdown Center, with a line-up that includes Stuart Price, Honey Dijon, FCUKERS, Junior Sanchez, and Sam-E. For the first time in Club Confessions, Madonna‘s name appears as the headliner next to the dee-jays of the night.

Nighttime comes before the dawn at Knockdown Center, 52-19 Flushing Ave, from 10 PM. The event is sponsored by Absolut and Mistr.

While a few competition/giveaways are taking place on the social networks as we’re writing this, no official ticketing information has been released yet. According to an Instagram Story from @knockdowncenter, a RSVP will be requested.

Arguably the most exciting news after the album arrived to our hands, Danceteria has been officially announced as the new single off Madonna’s Confessions II, impacting radios on Friday, July 10, according to a Warner Music Italy press release.

Then Madonna herself shared a Reel on her Instagram with the coolest behind the scenes footage from the bathroom scene on set of Confessions II – The Film. At the present time there’s no official news about whether we’re eventually going to have a full lenght video for Danceteria like it happened with Bring Your Love, but how grand would it be?

  In 2023, Madonna’s retrospective Celebration Tour had her revisiting each era of her career. And earlier this year, she shared that Universal scrapped her long-planned biopic over budgetary concerns. Through it all, Madonna was writing Confessions II, which is much more than just a spiritual successor to her 2005 Confessions on a Dance Floor. • Billboard.com is discussing the chances for Madonna to win a Grammy (or three) for Confessions II, reflecting on how Grammy voters slowly came to embrace the Queen of Pop.With a solid 83 rating at crit-aggregating website Metacritic – the second-highest rating for any of the 10 post-2000 Madonna albums listed – Confessions II could win for best dance/electronic album at the 69th annual Grammy Awards on Feb. 7 — 20 years after Confessions on a Dance Floor was honored in 2006. That would make Madonna the first woman ever to win twice in that category, and would give her the longest span of wins in that category.Madonna could also win Grammys for individual tracks on the album, and Billboard reports that Warner Records is tentatively planning to enter I Feel So Free for best dance/electronic recording and either Danceteria or Bring Your Love for best dance pop recording. The collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter may be submitted for pop duo/group performance and if accepted there, it would not be able to also compete for best dance pop recording.The project would also compete for album, record and song of the year; best music film for Confessions II: The Film , directed by TORSO, and best music video for Bring Your Love.
