If there’s one thing that fully embodies the richness and variety of the musical production in Confessions II, it’s how a same ensamble contributed to tracks that are radically different from one another.

Andrew Watt and Cirkut, for example, worked on two completely different tracks, Danceteria and L.E.S. Girl, PARISI contributed to a bright pop anthem like Bring Your Love, darker and more experimental tunes like  Everything and Love Without Words and an introspective song influenced by trip-hop like Betrayal

That’s also the case for Arca, the Venezuelan musician, singer and producer based in Barcelona credited for additional production on two songs – I Feel So Free and The Test – that at first listen are not akin, yet have been created by the same team.

Arca is a defining presence in the Confessions II era since day one, as I Feel So Free was the first song ever to be released as a preview of Madonna’s new album. Featured prominently in the bathroom scene of Confessions II – The Film before making more appearances in Club Confession, Arca was also on the front row at the Saint Laurent fashion show in Paris.

Following the release of Confessions II, Arca wrote to the fans – affectionately called mutants in a nod to the title of their second album – on Instagram:

Madonna was the first to mention What Will Save Me in her Interview cover story; she then said:

I have a song that’s not on the record called What Will Save Me. I did it with Arca and Stuart. We all talked about feeling like outsiders and how the club life and being on the dance floor make you feel like you’re part of a community, without saying anything. It saves you every time, whenever you’re feeling down, whenever you feel like you can’t get it right, whenever you feel like a failure, whatever. Go out dancing because it will save you.

Arca also said to Crack Magazine:

Madonna was so welcoming and nurturing from the first moment I met her. Working on this record with her on a few songs was really a dream come true.

When we started writing the Tribe Guides for Confessions II we did it first to help keep track of the coloured variants of the 12-song LP that were surfacing and eventually brought the total of the vinyl variations of Madonna’s new album to number 15 (so far).

We also made a page for the CDs and the Compact Cassette and we tought it’d be pleonastic to include the digital downloads. Then something changed.

Confessions II is available for streaming on a vast array of digital platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, the iTunes Store, Amazon Music, Soundcloud, Pandora, YouTube Music, Audiomack, Dezeer, Tidal an Qobuz.
As audiophiles well know these services use different formats with different audio quality and bitrates but all of them were sharing the same 16-song tracklist, until a few days ago…

CONFESSIONS II: Icon Edition

The Icon Edition of Confessions II includes the 16-track version of the album plus the bonus track released as part of the partnership between Madonna and Absolut, Hot Sauce.
It is available here.

The choice of releasing a variant version of the album in digital form was a smart move from Warner Records; pushed by fact it is currently the only place where the bonus track is available, the Icon Editon of the album eventually overlapped the standard version of Confessions II in the iTunes Album Chart for the U.S., with Madonna simultaneously holding both the first and the second spot in the list.

The eleventh song on Confessions II, School is  an experimental, layered dance track co-produced by Madonna and  Stuart Price together wih Lanita Smith, Triangle Park and Mustapha M Mbiakop under his Mustapha LeBeau alias. The song was written by Madonna, Stuart Price, Lanita LaShonda Smith, Scott M Carter, Mustapha M Mbiakop, Matthew Fonson and Jessica Ashley Karpov aka Harloe. Here’s how they shared their excitement on release day.

Longtime musical partners and Grammy Award-winning producers and songwriters, Andrew Watt (Andrew Wotman) and Cirkut (Henry Russell Walter) are showing their exceptional genre-crossing versatility co-writing and co-producing two of the album highlights, Danceteria and L.E.S. Girl, two songs that apparently have nothing in common yet they grew out from the same womb, both paying homage to Madonna’s early days in NYC.

In Danceteria, Andrew Watt plays guitar, bass and keyboards, with Cirkut on keyboards and programming. On L.E.S. Girl, Watt is on guitars, keyboards and drums, with Cirkut also on drums and drum programming.

The songwriting and production credits on Confessions II are a mix of legendary house and electronic music pioneers, contemporary hitmakers, and deeply personal family members.

The core duo is composed of course by Madonna herself together with Stuart Price. Madonna and Price are also the executive producers of the album.
Madonna is credited as a co-writer in every track, and 6 tracks out of 16 are composed entirely by Madonna & Stuart Price together: Good For The Soul, One Step Away, Everything, Love Sensation, Love Without Words and Fragile.

This spring, she previewed the album, inviting fans to the dance floor with the Billboard Dance Airplay No. 1 hit I Feel So Free. She also debuted Bring Your Love featuring Sabrina Carpenter at Coachella, marking 20 years
since her festival debut – which subsequently topped the UK Club Chart..

The album features her daughter, Lola Leon on the emotional track The Test, which the two co-wrote,
with deeply personal lyrics reflecting the healing and progression of their relationship.

Madonna also collaborates for the first time with Dutch DJ and producer, Martin Garrix on the haunting Bizzare, an exploration of the complexities of love.

Additionally, Belgian artist Stromae brings his distinctive style to the seductive My Sins Are My Savior.

It was recently announced Madonna would co-headline the first-ever halftime show for the FIFA World
Cup 26 Final on July19 from New York New Jersey Stadium. With an expected global audience to exceed 1.5 billion viewers, the world will be watching as she steps onto the stage to perform during this defining cultural moment.

Her Confessions II track Read My Lips featuring Colombian singer Feid has become an anthem of the tournament.

Last month, Madonna premiered Confessions II – The Film at the 25th Tribeca Film Festival.
Directed by TORSO, the immersive, cinematic experience brings the album’s first six songs to life through a bold, boundary-pushing visual narrative that blurs the lines between music, film and performance art.

The ambitious film was met with immediate widespread critical acclaim with Rolling Stone hailing it as “a
surrealistic, NSFW visual project that throbs like a freaky club fever dream,” while The Guardian praised
it as a “provocative visual feast” and The Fader described the film as “raw, hypnotic, and highly addictive
surreal club odyssey for a new generation.”.

The previous evening, Madonna electrified New York City with an unforgettable surprise performance in Times Square. Announced just 30 minutes beforehand, the event drew an estimated 50,000 fans eager to witness Madonna performing new music from Confessions II for the first time as well as a handful of beloved hits from Confessions on a Dance Floor.

At 10.30 BST  hosted the iHeartRadio and TikTok LIVE Premiere with Madonna started (with a few technical glitches) with the show host Bob The Drag Queen chatting with the album mastermind, Stuart Price.

Stuart provided some insightful details about his work with Madonna on the new album, with three entire songs being previewed along the conversation: School, Fragile and My Sins Are My Saviour. He also explained that the lower-pitched vocals in School have been provided – and engineered – by Madonna herself (no secret feat., sorry) and when Bob asked him how should we call the record – Confessions on a Dance Floor Part 2? – he simply answered “it’s Confessions II.”

Then Madonna joined the conversation before taking the stage at her album release party, answering both Bob’s and three pre-recorded fans’ questions. On the video streaming you could clearly noticed she was dressed up for the event, but most of her attire was hidden from view by a robe. Lola was the last to join the party, and before wrapping up the live broadcast that ammassed a record-breaking 2.1 views, Danceteria was played in full. As you may have noticed, the c-word was censored in the audio clip, and we would not be surprised if this happens again now that the song is sent to radios.

One part was missing from the one-hour long streaming: the press release announced live callouts integrated into the experience while Stuart Price, Honey Dijon, Jodie Harsh and Horse Meat Disco delivered nonstop music throughout the party, but at the end of the night what happened at Magazine stays at Magazine. Well, nope, just kidding, it was literally everywhere. on Instagram first and later on YouTube. The venue’s entrance was given a full Confessions II makeover with a giant-scale reproduction of the speaker-between-open-legs iconic artworks and yes, the lucky guests entered Magazine exactly from where the life begins.

Inside the album release party Horse Meat Disco warmed up the house and Stuart Price started serving old and new Madonna as midnight struck in the form of a twelve song set:

It was all much more of a rave than a promo show – and exactly what Madonna is constantly referring to when she has to answer the there will be a tour? question. Dancing, confessing, and celebrating. Safety in numbers.
