Today it is easy to find an apartment to rent for days, weeks or months on the Internet . The offer is very wide.

Choosing the type of apartment is not difficult : most ads have many photos. A map with the exact location is also shown. And the price also tends to be well defined .

Disfruta la Semana Santa en España

La Semana Santa en España es, quizás, la tradición más arraigada y la que más puede sorprender a todos aquellos que tienen la oportunidad de disfrutarla.

Muchos se sorprenden de las diferentes Semanas Santas que pueden encontrar dependiendo de la zona o región donde se celebra en España. Porque aunque en todas las zonas la semana Santa es un acontecimiento religioso, la manera cómo es "vivida" y "sentida" cambia enormemente de una región a otra.

Así, en el centro y Norte de España, nos encontraremos con una Semana Santa sobria, recogida, que busca la penitencia y el arrepentimiento. Las procesiones son más silenciosas, la música más solemne, y los sentimientos están más ocultos.

En cambio, en el Sur de España, en Andalucía, la Semana Santa se caracteriza por una explosión de sentimientos mucho más espontáneos, que muchas veces acaban en cánticos…y otras en llanto.

Para los profanos, y para muchos de nosotros, el ver cómo sienten, o como sufren los "cofrades" nos resulta, cuando menos sorprendente. No sólo tiene que ver con la religión, sino con una tradición muy arraigada que sigue viva, y que merece la pena ver y disfrutar.

We also said that, in many cases, the apartment owners do it to survive, because if they rent their home, theowners get extra money to help them pay their mortgage and to offset that income they once had and now not and they need it more than ever.

We also talked about which has grown enormously in demand for this type of seasonalrental. More people, prefer to be more travellers than tourists, and want to know the place they visit thoroughly, living the experiences the local people have. Explicábamos en nuestros anteriores artículos, como lacrisis ha ido cambiando el perfil de las personas que alquilan su vivienda. Decíamos que, en muchos casos, lo hacen para sobrevivir, pues alquilando su casa, los propietarios obtienen un dinero extra que les ayuda a pagar su hipoteca y a compensar esos ingresos que antes tenían y ahora necesitan.

También hablábamos de que ha crecido enormemente la demanda de este tipo de alquiler temporal. Cada vez más personas se sienten más viajeros que turistas, y prefieren conocer el lugar que visitan a fondo, viviendo las experiencias que tienen los nativos. In our previous article , we talked about the main reason why many owners have decided to rent your home, which is simply to get money to pay the mortgage on your floor.

We are in difficult times. Almost all of us have a lot of things to pay, a lot of expenses. And in the good times , we could easily cope with all our payments. But now that everything is complicated , our revenues are down, and our debts have grown , we have no choice but to use our own resources, not to make more money , to meet our commitments to the banks.

From the point of view of the owner , who is who is renting their home, it is quite clear : he wants to earn extra money , because he needs the money to pay its payments.

But how to explain that demand among travelers has grown? Why do so many people now prefer to rent a house or a private apartment, instead of renting a hotel room with all the amenities , as he had until recently ?

The answer is clear , but not easy to explain because many factors come together :

UNIQUE EXPERIENCE

The first thing we get when we decide to rent an apartment is that we feel masters of our fate . We are the one who choose where and how we want to stay . Our experience will be unique !

Aumenta la Demanda de Alquiler Temporal de Apartamentos

En nuestro artículo anterior, hablábamos de la principal razón por la cual muchos propietarios han decidido alquilar su casa, que no es otra que conseguir dinero para pagar la hipoteca de su piso.

Estamos en tiempos difíciles. Casi todos nos hemos empeñado más de la cuenta. Y, en la época de bonanza, podíamos hacer frente fácilmente a todos nuestros pagos. Pero ahora que todo se ha complicado, nuestros ingresos han bajado, y nuestras deudas han crecido, no nos queda más remedio que utilizar nuestros propios recursos, no para ganar más dinero, sino para poder afrontar nuestros compromisos adquiridos con los bancos.

Desde el punto de vista del propietario, que es el que alquila su vivienda, todo está claro: quiere ganar un dinero extra, o necesita ese dinero para pagar sus pagos.

Pero, ¿cómo explicar que la demanda entre los viajeros haya crecido tanto? ¿Por qué tanta gente ahora prefiere alquilar una casa, o un apartamento de un particular, en vez de alquilar una habitación de hotel con todas las comodidades, como había hecho hasta hace poco?

La respuesta es clara, aunque, no por ello fácil de explicar, pues se juntan muchos factores:

EXPERIENCIA UNICA

Lo primero que conseguimos al alquilar un bonito apartamento en, por ejemplo, pleno centro de una ciudad como puede ser Madrid, es sentirnos dueños de nuestro destino. Somos nosotros quienes elegimos dónde y cómo queremos estar. Nuestra experiencia va a ser única!

Cuando alquilamos una habitación de un hotel, nosotros no decidimos, en verdad no elegimos. Las habitaciones, por muy bien equipadas que estén, son todas iguales, no están personalizadas. El trato, aunque sea todo lo correcto y amable posible, tampoco es personal. Porque somos un cliente más, un turista más.

En cambio, si alquilamos un apartamento, somos libres! Libres de elegir la zona, el precio, las características, el diseño y la decoración…y hasta al propietario que nos lo alquila!

In these times of crisis we must sharpen their wits to get ahead. Banks do not forgive .

All of us , or nearly all, have mortgages and the work or , better said the income , is scarce. Even if we are one of the lucky ones who earn the same as a while ago , the money does not reach us . Everything is much more expensive : from light, to taxes , to the food, which is basic and necessary !

And what do you do in this situation?

So, in this situation of uncertainty , many Spaniards have chosen to rent their home. And hence sites like Airbnb proliferate on the Internet .

And, this phenomenon occurs not only in Spain . Many citizens of countries considered until recently as "rich" countries which , either for survival or for extra money, have chosen to be the ones that move from their home. They move between booking and reservation. Their home is their friend´s home, or their parent´s home , just to be able to pay your mortgage debts , or just to have money to eat .

En estos tiempos de crisis hay que aguzar el ingenio para salir adelante. Los Bancos no perdonan.

Todos, o casi todos, tenemos hipotecas y el trabajo o, mejor dicho, los ingresos, escasean. Aunque seamos unos de los afortunados que ganan lo mismo que hace un tiempo, ese dinero no nos llega. Todo es mucho más caro: desde la luz, hasta los impuestos, pasando por la comida, que es lo básico y necesario!

Y, ¿qué hacer ante esta situación?

Pues ante esta situación de incertidumbre, muchos españoles han optado por alquilar su casa. De ahí que páginas como airbnb proliferen en internet.

Y, éste fenómeno no sólo se da en España. Son muchos los ciudadanos de países considerados hasta hace poco como paises “ricos” los que, ya sea para poder sobrevivir, o para obtener un dinero extra, han optado por ser ellos los que se mueven. Where to live in Madrid : choosing the appropriate area

Whether for work or studying , or just for a change of life , you have decided to come to live in Madrid.

After that first decision, the second major decision will be to choose the neighborhood or area where you will live.

The area where you will live, it will determine your way of living : the type of apartment you can afford, the time it takes you to go to your place of work or study , and the life that you will do after work or study.

To help you make the right decision , I suggest you follow these 3 steps :

. 1 - Decide the kind of life you want to take in Madrid and your priorities:

a) Think about the kind of life that currently you live and in what you like more and what it is you would like to change . Note that it is difficult, or almost impossible, to find the same thing that in your city or country. That's one of the reasons why that you have decided to come to Madrid : a life change!

Think if for you is essential to be close to your place of work or study , and if you prefer sacrificing space or amenities in exchange for not wasting time on public transport.

b ) Think about how your ideal life. Imagine your life in Madrid.

c ) What kind of home are you looking for? Want to live on your own or share your life with others?

d ) Want to live in the historic center or in a new neighborhood ?

e) You want to walk to your work or do not mind using public transport?

Having made a list separating what is essential from you are not willing to loose what would be ideal and would like to have, sums up what should have the area where you want to live.

That's your starting point to start looking for an apartment in Madrid.

. 2 - Decide and Define your ideal location in Madrid

Now that you know what you want and you have imagined your life in Madrid , you must find the place that provides you all these requirements.

3 . Trust your intuition

Having decided what is important to you and the area where you can find all this in Madrid , the next step should be to trust your gut.

Rationally you have eliminated the superfluous and you are left with what is important to you.

But to reach a final decision must also taking into account your intuition.

The fundamental question we must ask is : Can I see myself living there?

Therefore, I recommend that , based on your list of priorities, do the following:

• Try to dive in Madrid even before arriving:

- Search Google images of the neighborhoods that you've selected
- Use Google Street View to see the life of the streets
- Try searching for all possible information about life in the selected areas.

• You should compare, at least 2, different neighborhoods

• If you are already in Madrid and still don´t have a place to live, you should walk and get lost in your shortlisted neighborhoods with no other purpose than " feel the vibe " . Take a coffee, in a local restaurant ask for the "menu del dia" (lunch menu), talk with the people , go shopping and spend at least a couple of hours in each of the preelegidos neighborhoods , during the day and at night.

Believe me, trust your intuition, focus yourself on your priorities and ask yourself about, "Do I see myself living here? ".
