A blast of color, a lively game, a Wii game that has not been done before. I was just kidding, the game is kind of monochrome. I'm saying, because MadWorld for Wii has some bloody inserts. Actually, I meant red - after a few hours of playing I'm getting tangled. MadWorld caught my attention due to the 18-year-old rating, my initial reaction being: "Yeah, a guy with a chainsaw in his hand, clearly another Wii game where you have to cut trees and plant flowers." But I could not be misleading more. MadWorld is the answer from Platinum Games, to the hardcore gamer community. A kind of Button Mashing combined with crush tests, epileptic movements of the hand to hit the opponent. Plus a harness, attached to the main character's arm, or what the user thinks he can be. MadWorld is nothing from what the Wii used to us so far, in the sense that free violence is greatly priced, typical red-eye humor all the way, and it also has the nerve to show two medium toes on everything that means Wii As a family console. We could say MadWorld is the first anti-Wii game.

Before we go into our everyday review, I have to remember one thing and ask the reader to be indulgent. The game is as repetitive and straightforward but it is rescued by excessive graphics and violence. Yes, I know, it's a Wii game but it was time for Wii to put its mark on the bloody game play.

MadWorld fits into the "third-person action game"

MadWorld fits into the "third-person action game" genre and is not part of the kind of game where you see pink hearts or a life bar. You just start by yourself, finish by yourself, in the meantime try to find some life balloons to accumulate extra lives and some extra arsenal. That's how you run a head to tail level. Nothing new and innovative can be said so far.

For starters, you cannot say anything about MadWorld, the story is pretty much confusing. Not much is said to you, except that a part of Manhattan is divided from the rest of the world, and a sinister game is happening on this piece of land. The main character is Jack, Just Jack, as he says, and his problems begin when he decides to participate in the game called DeathWatch, following some personal interests. Throughout the game, you become acquainted with other characters, sponsors, and the intrigue gets more elaborate. DeathWatch is a kind of pay-per-view with masses and mass murderers, in which Jack, Just Jack, has to accumulate some points to reach number one. It sounds a bit like "No More Heroes", right? I thought so.

MadWorld graphics is something very new

MadWorld graphics is something very new, especially as Wii, as many know, is not exactly the most featured in the video chapter. The "comic book" is as good as possible, and the levels are extremely well studied. The details are extremely visible, considering the fact that the game is monochrome. Throughout the game, things are very diverse. You can get from flaming pots and car wheels to traffic signs that you can stick into enemy skulls. DID I SAY THAT THE GAME IS EXTREME BRUTAL? MadWorld is at the limit of common sense. The game is the delusion of the compulsive aggressive maniac, with ironic tones, that has nothing better to do than to cut left and right with a chainsaw. That's the main character Jack. If I talked already about chainsaws and sharp decorative elements, let me tell something about game control and way of things go.

In MadWorld things are simplified to the idea of a score board.

In MadWorld things are simplified to the idea of a score board. You have a limit of points that you have to acquire, and then finally "punch the bell" to call the boss. Nothing spectacular so far, as it reminds me of the Super Nintendo Double Dragon. It has that “old-school beat them up”, but the control system is a little different. You can attack your opponents using the Wii Mote or cut them with a chainsaw. All these elements are at your disposal, just by moving your wrist. Sounds like fun? Actually it is extremely funny, especially when you have some free hours and want to get some negative energy. You can do also Combo Kills that means you can maltreat your opponent in an elaborate and barbaric way. Example: take one opponent and beat him well, stick a traffic sign into the skull, followed by one or more car tires, wrapped around the chest.

You can beat well with a golf club or baseball bat, according to your taste and afterwards you can throw your opponent into a flaming pot. You can walk him a little through the level and after you throw him up again in a wall full of metal spikes. The result? A very happy player, with a satisfied grin on his face. This is just an example.

Another plus on this game's list is music and sound.

Another plus on this game's list is music and sound. A sense of "Hip-hop Gangster" surrounds the levels of the game and two crazy commentators make you feel as in-game as possible. The soundtrack is quite interactive and easy to spot, unlike some other Wii games. And the commentators are absolutely brilliant with comic interventions all the way. If you kill an opponent in a more special way, be sure one of them has something to say about the brutal execution.

What I did not like at the game.

A campaign that is too short. MadWorld has a pretty interactive way to treat the player, but his stretch is somewhat limited. Campaign can be finished in 8 (or fewer) hours. Room control - or lack of it, will often make you do epileptically moves to get to the point of interest. And the thing that disliked me most is the absence of multiplayer. Sure, you have a "2 player face-off" but that's all. And this module is as poor as you can see, you have just some main-events in the game and some mini-games, the rest, nothing special. It would be interesting for producers to integrate an online module, or at least a co-op campaign, but nothing.

Broadly speaking, MadWorld is an innovation for the Wii, a game for the hardcore and blood-thirsty player. From dismember and chopping, to gathering points, the game keeps you continually focused. Great sound, good control - for a Wii game and an elaborate story. For all this, MadWorld gets 8.5 out of 10 and my applause, for the way she has proven that the Wii can be more than a console for the Sunday player.
