INGO will help in Typhoon Pablo's affected Municipalities in Agusan Sur

International Non-Government Organizations (INGO) from United Nation assembled at Trento, Agusan del Sur last December 27. These INGOs form a cluster for Shelter, Food and Education to give support the Provincial Government for the rehabilitation program of the affected municipalities of Agusan del Sur by the Typhoon Pablo.

There are five major municipalities included on the rehabilitation program, Bunawan, Trento, Sta. Josefa, Veruela.

The UN-INGOs will make a center in Trento where the relief goods will be dropped on that place and distributed to other affected municipalities.

The Shelter cluster headed by the UN-International Organization for Migration (UN-IOM) pursue on imposing an emergency shelter program for the victims, immediately. Based on IOM’s standard, the shelter should not make its occupants feel very hot in the morning and too cold at night.

Mr. Mariano P. Nava of UN-IOM presided the meeting on the shelter program with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) heads from different affected municipalities, the Chief of Staff of Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer, Regional Department of Social Welfare and Development Crisis Intervention Unit Head and UNICEF representatives.

“This is not like Typhoon Sendong’s effect, it is the combination of Typhoon Ondoy and Sendong,” as Mr. Mariono described the effect of Typhoon Pablo.

Aside on the disaster made by Typhoon Pablo, the shelter program faced another problem and that is the distance between other houses.

“Unlike the Sendong, we can compress the people and relocate them easily- but not in here” he added along the discussion.

MSWD’s found it a big challenge and should be resolved with their next meeting.

Mr. Jess Far, Chief Protection Specialist from UNICEF shared his other concerns regarding on the shelter program. He emphasized that the shelter program should be implemented as soon as possible.

According to Mr. Jess, without the shelter it could be a reason to create a human trafficking because crime syndicates will use this opportunity.

“We should monitor the migration of the people of the affected municipalities especially the children who are prone to this kind of activity (human trafficking),” he added on his talk.

Human trafficking is very rampant on this kind of situation and mostly will accept even the smallest offer that a crime syndicate can offer.

All the concerns raised on the said meeting will be carried this coming January 3, 2013 meeting that will be held in Trento, Agusan del Sur.

AGUSAN DEL SUR - Four people were confirmed dead and three others injured as thousands were housed temporarily in safe shelters after typhoon Pablo (BOPHA) battered the province Tuesday morning on December.

In a report from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), a total of 30,305 persons evacuated following Pablo destroyed their houses. Heavy rains and strong gust of winds resulted to trees collapsing on houses and roads and the swelling of rivers and creeks.
About 20 people coming from different barangays of Veruela, Sibagat, Rosario, Sta. Josefa and Trento were dead and 12 persons were injured.

PDRRMC report revealed the municipality of Veruela was the hardest hit as 4, 532 families comprised of 24, 238 persons in 20 barangays were heavily affected. Reports also indicate massive destruction on properties, infrastructure and agriculture. Next with the highest number of affected persons is Sta. Josefa town with 2, 578 families made up of 13, 296 individuals.
Meanwhile, cost of partially damaged houses was pegged at 11, 347 and 378 million cost of damage to crops and livestocks and reaches to P221 million costs of infrastructures damages.
At present, 147 barangays have no electricity.

On Wednesday morning, Governor Eddiebong Plaza and Vice-Governor Santiago Cane Jr. and other provincial officials personally conducted an ocular inspection in the devastated areas and lamented on the extent of damages brought about by the super typhoon.

Asked for his comment while in Veruela, the governor stressed, “napakasama nang nangyari dito. Nakakalungkot ang nakita nating lawak ng pinsala sa crops pati sa rubber and palm oil plantations galing sa Trento papunta ng Sta. Josefa at dito. Malaking problema ito at kailangan na nating humingi ng tulong sa national government upang mabigyan ng kaukulang solusyon kasi karamihan ay nawalan ng bahay at kabuhayan.”

Governor Plaza added, “this is the first time sa history ng Agusan del Sur na ganito karami ang nasirang bahay. Ilang beses na tayong binaha kaya medyo sanay na tayo pero bago sa atin ang malakas na hangin. Dapat na nating itaas ang kaalaman ng mga mamamayan sa kakaibang takbo ng panahon ngayon. Ang daming proyektong ibinuhos ang DSWD through KALAHI-CIDDS at nang LGU dito pero puro sira talaga. Kailangan matugunan ito ng kaukulang hakbang at alam ko babangon ang Veruela at ang buong Agusan del Sur.”

The local government of the affected municipalities is now providing the needs of the victims through the distribution of relief assistance like food, water and clothing. (PPIO-AgSur)

Provincial Government Employees; Hand in Hand Relief Goods Packing for the Victims of Typhoon Pablo

Hand in Hand for Agusan. This is what employees of the Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur wanted to emphasize as they donate their used clothes and their unselfish time to pack and to distribute the relief goods to the affected areas of Agusan del Sur started last December 8 until 9.

The five municipalities affected by the Typhoon Pablo were Rosario, Bunawan, Trento, Sta. Josefa and Veruela. And they got most of the damage than other municipalities.

They already dispatched 4,600 packs of relief goods with 404 bags of used clothing in Veruela while in Sta. Josefa has 2,600 packs and in Trento were 900 packs.

Currently, the relief goods were came from the Provincial Calamity Fund.

The Provincial Social Welfare and Development (PSWD) encourage all the people out there to give foods or any things that could help the people build their houses and to share your blessings even in a simple way.

Typhoon Pablo with an international name of BOPHA destroyed five (5) municipalities of Agusan del Sur leaving 16 dead and 11 injured as of 10 p.m. of December 6.

The municipalities of Rosario, Bunawan, Trento, Sta. Josefa and Veruela received the impact of the Typhoon Pablo that destroyed the infrastructures and agricultural lands of the said municipalities.
According to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), it reached 8,356 households were totally destroyed and over 6,211 were partially destroyed houses. Over 19,906,568 pesos costs of damage houses and 7,660,300 pesos costs of Agricultural lands such as rice fields, corn fields, coffee farms, lumbers and fruit lands were accounted.

Destroyed houses and trees can be seen along the highway of the municipality of Rosario. And the leaning utility poles made the people afraid to pass the Maharlika Highway.

Mr. Arean Amero, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (MDRRMO) of Bunawan, said that there were 6 injured reported and they had damage of 16,618,000 pesos in terms of their infrastructures and 5,580,842 pesos worth of damage on their agriculture.

The municipality of Trento had five (5) dead reported namely Elizabeth Zalueta, Cecilio Duarna, Pepito Cabusas, Jocelyn Navales and a 7-month old Baby Cabriadas. And the municipal hall of Trento was destroyed, too. Everything, including houses and other infrastructures were damaged.
And in the town of Sta. Josefa, there were three (3) casualties namely Lilia Flores, Guillermo Cataag and Jovena Cataag. And also all the houses and agricultural land were destroyed.

According to Mang Edgardo Macias, a resident of Sta. Josefa, on 5 a.m. when the wind started to blow and at any time, they were ready to evacuate. And around 6 a.m. they went to their neighbor to evacuate. They witnessed the destruction of their house by the two fruit trees, Santol and Marang.
“Gisulti-an nami nga mag-andam, pero wala mi nagdahom nga kusog kaayo ang hangin- first time namo ni nasinati,” he added, “ngayo lang mig hinabang para makatukod mig balay.”

While in Veruela, Ms. Elvira, Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) of Veruela, over 95% of whole Veruela were destroyed by Typhoon Pablo. And some barangays were still submerged in flood. Agricultural lands and infrastructures were totally damaged.

There were seven (7) casualties viz. Emma Quibol (daughter), Lolita Quibol (mother), Willy Libotlibot, Jeffrey Sabado, Mark Lloyd Lodiveo, Junry Pingol and Beloso Eway.

The survivors of the typhoon are knocking on the hearts of those fortunate people to donate or to give assistance to them especially in building new houses.

Until now, the affected municipalities don’t have electricity. The evacuees need assistance especially on medicine, water and food.

Gipahinumdoman usab ang mga residente nga anaa nanimuyo sa bahaan nga lugar nga magbinantayon ug dili mo-kumpiyansa sa posibleng kalamidad.

Sa Visayas mao ang Siquijor, Bohol, Biliran, Camotes Island, Southern Leyte,Leyte, Eastern Samar, Western Samar. It’s surely that Keith Urban was pretty shaken while sitting in between the fighting lady judges. But not only Keith Urban was scared but also the judges that the judges might quit.

HTC has a new flagship Android device, launched last Tuesday, the HTC One X+.

This Android phone uses a processor of 1.7 GHz quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 with 64 Gigabytes of internal memory and a 2, 100 mAh battery and using Android 4.1, this phone is a monster. It has the capability also to giving it up to six hours (50%) more talk time.

It has been said that HTC One X+ stole the spotlight of Samsung Galaxy S III.

HTC is launching the latest version of its Sense UI: Sense 4+ and it means that this new phone will have many great software improvements including “Tap and Go” pairing with Beats speakers and a camera mode of Self-portrait.

HTC also release a new web service that called “Get Started,” that lets users easily set-up and personalize their mobile experience from a desktop browser.

HTC One X+ will be in stores across Europe and North Asia starting this October and across South Asia this coming November.

Another comedy movie that will truly hit this year, "This Guy's In Love With You Mare" will be coming on your favorite theaters this October. Vice Ganda, Toni Gonzaga and Luis Manzano will be the stars on this movie and produced under Star Cinema and Viva Films, directed by Wenn Deramas.

On this movie, Vice Ganda will play the role of a suitor (suitor?) suitor of Ms. Toni Gonzaga and it is a requirement that Vice will have a kissing scene with Toni and this will be the first onscreen kiss of Vice.

Toni told the reporters in an interview that, "Lalaki siya sa pelikulang ito kaya nakakatawa, pero lalaking-lalaki siya, convincing ah."

Regarding to their kissing scene, Toni told the reporters again, "Pinakamalalang nagawa ko sa buong buhay ko, na magka-eksena kami ni Vice na hindi ko alam kung paano namin nagawa! First time ko ma-experience 'yung ganung klaseng kissing scene, kakaiba, hindi ko mai-describe. Nakakabaliktad ng sikmura."

The hottest couple (as they said) has bought a land at Tarzana, CA with a view of the San Fernando Valley.

According to hollywoodlife.com,

Good news girls! Luke of Be Careful with My Heart will be the one of the guests this coming Sarah G Live this coming September 16, 2012.

Joseph Jerome Gapido Porciuncula with a screen name of Jerome Ponce is the real name of this uprising matinee idol Luke of Be Careful with My Heart. This guy is really good looking and easily gets the heart of the girls. Netizens really love Luke and according to them, Luke is one of the reasons why they tune Be Careful with My Heart. He is Mario Maurer of the Philippines according to some netizens.

Joining him on Sarah G Live is Janella Salvador who plays the role of Luke’s sister in Be Careful with My Heart. They will be joining on the smash-up dance number along with I Do Bidoo Bidoo stars Sam Concepcion and Tippy Dos Santos.

While Rico J. Puno will have a duet with Sarah G in this episode and ace comedians Tessie Tomas, Jon Santos, Nanette Inventor and Mitch Valdez will join the stage and will create a storm of laughs as they showcase their comedic talents.

Filipinos are always want to be “in” or want to know that latest and easily adapts on it. Filipinos love to know the latest fashion statements, latest gadgets, latest gossips and even the latest dance hits especially like “Teach me how to Dougie” and “Gangnam Style.” But do you know that before Dougie hits the chart and Gangnam style became viral (see Nelly Furtado's Gangnam Style), there is a Filipino dance hit called “Budots”?

SHORT HISTORY

“Budots” is a slang word for “bum” in Davao. This dance step was originated from Davao and it was created by the Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition 2, Ruben Gonzaga, according to Pinoy Big Brother website.

Budots is a freestyle dance mixed with fun, crazy, creative and amusing dance steps. Budots is accompanied with a music that is simple yet deep bass mixed with static sounds, occasional scratching, horns of varying pitches and tempo. Sometimes it has distorted vocals, looped all over and over. And it said that the music for Budots is a crossbreed of European techno music and bad hip-hop added with some nasty attitude.

Last year, I didn’t join this kind of activity because I don’t have enough time to browse the web and I had a hectic schedule at that time. But in spite of my busy schedule, I read the nominees on Top 10 Emerging Influential Blog. I got little bit curious when I read it I said to myself that this is a very great opportunity for a blogger to boost camaraderie and gain networks from other bloggers. Fairy Tail 298 Recap and 299 Prediction

It is the third day of the Grand Magic Games, evening, when Levy invited all the Mages of Fairy Tail decided to go to Ryuuzetsu Land, the famous summer leisure spot. Natsu and Gray are both excited. Lucy wonders if it is better to tell their master about their plan but Erza said that their Master took Laxus somewhere so there is no need to tell Master.

But someone wearing a cloak came also to the Ryuuzetsu Land but it only stares at it and it went away.

When they arrive, they are all surprise about the area of the land because it is so big. Natsu rode on a water train toy but he instantly collapses because of his motion sickness. While the Happy, Charle and decided to see the aquarium and Levy suggested Gajeel to go too, while Cana complains about not having her swimsuit and she only wears underwear.

Lisanna and Mirajane is worried about having not brought Elfman with them. But they didn’t know that Evergreen and Elfman secretly come also to the resort but both of them are conscious that people will know that they are there.

Juvia suggested to Gray that they will ride the Love Slide together but Gray refuses and Lyon suddenly appears and carries Juvia off. Wendy and Chelia meet and Wendy asking if she had already recovered from their fight and then they decide to look for fun elsewhere.

Team Quatro Puppy is in the pool and shows how wild they are and Bacchus said that the era of real men will soon start. While Jenny Realight steals Mirajane’s top bikini as a revenge for making her embarrassed during their fight and forced to pose nude in Socerer Magazine. But Mirajane had revenge by downing the underwear of Jenny. On the other side, Erza and Lucy are currently hearing the serenades by the male member of Team Blue Pegasus, whom Erza berates them for their various actions but excluding Ichiya, who asked to be berated too.

Lucy gets up and notice their Master Mavis underneath the water while Makarov and Laxus are just sitting near Mavis. Erza sees Jellal and asks if what is he doing in the pool. And he answers that he is following the magic power.

Everyone is having fun. The teams from different guilds, except Sabertooth, join together and enjoy the place. While Natsu and Ichiya runs together to find another fun but unfortunately Ichiya accidently slips and bumps Natsu and sending both of them flying. Ichiya flying and go to Erza and Jellal fortunately Jellal defended Erza but it resulted that Jellal touches the breasts of Erza.

While Natsu bumped on Gray and Lyon and made the two casts away on the Love Slide making the water on the slide turned into ice. Juvia becomes so nervous and thinks that it might be what the people called “boy’s love.”

Gray and Lyon were fighting and making the pool into ice and others is turning and covered with ice. Natsu becomes so excited and uses his Fire Dragon’s Iron Fist and it resulted in an explosion and making the land ruined.

Makarov and Mavis are crying while hearing the repair fee.

Prediction:

On the upcoming Fairy Tail 299: A Solitary Journey, it might be the story of the Dragons who suddenly disappeared long time ago. It might be what Igneel done and the other Dragons. Or it might be the story of Zeref or the mysterious person that Jellal was chasing.

Medicines: Social Media and Controversy

I just read a blog post that talked about “Dynamics of Medicine Promotion Online and Offline,” and it captured my awareness regarding the medicines we have now on the market, how they reach their customers and how their commercials affects, millions of viewers.

It talked first about the strong influence of social media on the consumer awareness. And it cited the DOH’s campaign on changing the tag line “No approved therapeutic claims” into “Mahalagang Paalala: Ang (name of product) Ay Hindi Gamot At Hindi Dapat Gamiting Panggamot sa Anumang Uri ng Sakit.”

For me, it is better to use the language that the masses use. Philippines is not America that we should use English language on the packages of our medicines.

But sad to say there is something happened about this initiative. Read the result here.

And now, we will talk about how the medicine brands are acting on their campaigns online.

The first brand that I encountered was Biogesic. An advertisement or commercial suddenly showed on my blog that they were having a contest through online and a famous blogger was behind on that campaign. It made me shocked knowing that medicine brands are very silent or shy to show their presence through social media (See how social media help promotes medicine brands). But still lacks of the customer reach program because I didn’t see their official website.

Another medicine brand that made me worry because of their lack of customer outreach and lack of online presence is Alvedon, the brand name of a paracetamol. Although there are some websites that gives information about this product, their Official website or page looks like it needs some search engine optimization because it took me three keywords just to find their official website and it is not on the top three pages on the search engine (Google). Alvedon has a Facebook page but lack of interaction with their customers.

Dolfenal has a very catchy commercial and they even had an online contest. They even had a Facebook page but they have a problem with search engines. It took me again a long time procedure looking for them. But in fairness, they had an interaction with the customers using their Facebook page.

Another topic that makes my awareness risen up is about the commercials of those medicine brands that shows violence.

It is true and to make you believe, play the video below.

The commercial above is from Saridon and regarding on this brand, there is a report that this brand has a content that has a bad side effect on our body. But aside this issue, their commercial videos make me worry.

In Filipino’s first impression watching the above video, we can say, “ha ha ha, so funny” but when we truly see what is happening on that commercial, there is something that we should be worried about and that is “violence.” And when I searched videos or commercials having the same theme, I am happy that only Saridon uses this kind of subject on their commercials.

Using violence on a commercial especially on health industries looks very exaggerated and ironic. It is okay to create commercials which are catchy like Dolfenal but using violence is not okay. Most of our viewers today are children and young adults and having this kind of commercial is like your showing porn videos to your kids.

Robot that runs 28.3mph faster than Usain Bolt

DARPA and Boston Dynamics have created their own four legged-robot that runs faster than the previous record of 18mph, earlier in the year a new record has been set at 28.3mph or 12.6 m/s which is faster than the fastest man on Earth, Usain Bolt, and this robot is called Cheetah.

To know what I am talking about and to appreciate how speed it was, you should watch first the video. I felt so amazed after watching this video and knowing that it is a robot. But also I felt very tired after watching it. The robot looks like want to get out and wanted to set free.

According to the report, the purpose of Cheetah or Maximum Mobility and Manipulation (M3) s to significantly improve the performance of robots for military application. DARPA wants to find out why humans and animals could carry heavy loads across rough terrain.

For DARPA, instead of reinventing or recreate the wheel, they realized that almost 4 billion years of evolution, nature created some remarkably efficient organisms and for them, it makes a lot of sense to borrow from nature, rather than repeating through our own robotic development. That is why, DARPA and Boston Dynamics have been working on robots that nearly imitate biological physiology.

“Cheetahs happen to be a beautiful example of how natural engineering has created speed and agility across rough terrain. Our Cheetah bot borrows ideas from nature’s design to inform stride patterns, flexing and unflexing of parts like the back, placement of limbs and stability,” says DARPA program Manager Gill Pratt.

Boston Dynamic has already been working on the next version of Cheetah that they will call it WildCat. WildCat will be like the AlphaDog, and it will be a petrol-driven and be capable of running outside. Boston Dynamics won’t stop at only 28mph but they will be aiming for 50mph or more.

AlphaDog is also known as a Legged Squad Support System, LS3 is a robotic pack mule created by Boston Dynamic/DARPA that can move fairly slowly but can carry 400 pounds or 180 kilograms of gear over 20 miles in a rough terrain. Months ago, Star Cinema revealed that there will be a movie that will show the chemistry of Erich and Mario Maurer. The Filipinos are very excited and couldn’t wait for this movie. ABS-CBN released a statement that Erich Gonzales will be the love interest of Mario and the title of the movie is Suddenly It’s Magic.

You might think, why I include Baifern? It is because Baifern or Pimchanok Luevisadpaibul will lead a cameo role in this movie and it was confirmed by the PR (official promoter of Mario Maurer in the Philippines). This will be what the father of Baifern said on his Facebook: Baifern This Coming October in the Philippines. She will attend the Premier Night of this movie.

The tech giant released a minimalist picture which has a text “It’s almost here” and below is the big number “12” with a shadow of number “5.” And according to some reports, these numbers signify the release date of Apple’s newest iPhone, the iPhone 5.

September 12, 2012 is the date they are talking about. On this date, it said that it is the Apple’s first big event since the death of its father, Steve Jobs.

People are expecting that iPhone 5 will be thinner than previous iPhones. And there is also a rumor that this will have a bigger screen, supported with a nano-SIM card, LTE connectivity, thinner battery and a smaller dock connector.

For some tech savvy, Apple is a very secretive organization when it comes to their new products, so it is hard to find out what are they really keep.

Rumors spread that the current 30-pin connector at the base of the iPhone will also be replaced with a smaller one. Further, iPhone 5 will also offer a 4G high-speed wireless broadband connectivity in US in order to compete Android devices which has this capability.

And various reports said that the new device will be released to the market a week or two after the event, to allow Apple fans to have on their hands this latest gadget.
