The first official wedding photos of reality star Kim Kardashian’s high profile marriage with new groom Kris Humphries has graced the cover of the magazine People on August 24 issue in New York and Los Angeles & on August 26 issue in rest of the U.S. People acquired the exclusive right to publish the wedding photos, reportedly for a whopping $ 1.5 million.

However, an informed source familiar with the development termed it ridiculous. It said that it was nowhere near $ 1 million. People spent upwards of $ 5, 00,000 for the photos but not near $ 1 million. Nevertheless, People out bided all other tabloid & caught the opportunity to spread the glitz & glamour of the wedding to the mere mortals of the world.

However, another source pointed out that it was obvious that Kim’s wedding photos would be in People because she had great relationship with the magazine.

Moreover, it is one of the most esteemed & credible U.S. magazines besides having enough money to spend on those photos along with millions of more readers than most of the other celebrity tabloids.

These exclusive fairytale wedding photos of Kim Karashian pushed up the sale and People’s subscription way past it’s average of 1.3 millions. Interestingly People hiked up it’s price by $ 1.00 for the special issue which might help the magazine to easily make back the fortune & some more, it spent to get the exclusive pictures. After the exclusive People’s photos, latter a host of new magazine on celebrity life & life style also extensively reported the wedding.

Celebrity gossip portal on the web like xposed magazine news & xposed magazine also reported the wedding in it’s usual spicy way. However, the veracity of facts they included in their story is obviously questionable. As per the HGTV magazine one of the interesting facts of this high profile marriage is that, with the amount spent on the wedding one could easily buy some of the luxurious waterfront villas featured on it. This celebrity wedding was also covered in other life style & celebrity magazines like Garage magazine.

However, leading U.S. journal Time magazine preferred to show not much interest in the celebrity wedding. Moreover, some specialty life style magazine also did not show much interest in some wedding related news & photos of the reality star, such as her jet skiing news & photos in Minnesota where she spent some quality times with her hubby's family and friends just before the wedding. However, that scoop virtually went unreported in prominent Ski magazines.

Magazine News Round-Up: Bookazines, Possible HGTV Magazine and the Hollywood Issue

Hi:) Usually magazine publishers launch new web sites from their tried-and-true print brands. Mediaweek reports the opposite seems to be a trend with publishers lately. Hearst is releasing a bookazine tomorrow called Light & Delish based on the food site Delish; the publisher will released a handful of bookazines last year and will publish more this year.

In the meantime, Meredith, publisher of Family Circle, Ladies Home Journal and Parents magazine among others, will publish a second issue this year of a magazine based on Mixing Bowl.com, its online food social network.

New York magazine's Daily Intel blog reports that Hearst is in talks with HGTV to launch a new magazine. We're sure Hearst is looking to repeat the wildly-successful business model of its Food Network magazine. Like the Food Network Channel, Scripps also owns HGTV.

Lastly, Vanity Fair magazine’s annual "Hollywood Issue," which features photos by Annie Leibovitz of up-and-coming actors on newsstands in New York and L.A. on February 3, will hit newsstands nationwide next week, on February 9. This year's cover is a bit of a yawner with actresses Kristen Stewart, Abbie Cornish and Carey Mulligan.

Hi:) OK! magazine and reality TV star Kourtney Kardashian are the latest players in the magazine-cover-Photoshop-controversy-game. This time Kardashian says the current cover of OK! Magazine makes her look like she has lost all of her pregnancy weight when she has not; she also says she never sat down for an "exclusive interview" for the magazine's cover story.

Last week Conde Nast declared its iPhone magazine a "success" after the publisher sold 18,000 GQ magazine app downloads. At $2.99 each, that's a revenue (Apple earns a fee) of approximately $39,000. But it's not that big of a deal says Folio magazine because Conde Nast is missing the big picture.

Also last week, The National Enquirer announced it would seek, ahem, the Pulitzer Prize, for its stories on the John Edwards affair/paternity scandal. As the Washington Post notes, The National Enquirer did break the story but is it worthy of journalism's highest prize?
Another art magazine has folded: Art on Paper. Perhaps, as the publishers hope, someone else will take over the magazine when the economy improves. It happened with Editor & Publisher magazine, so we have hope. Have fun:)

President to Pen Cover Story on Haiti for Newsweek Magazine

Hi:) Since news of Tuesday's devastating earthquake broke, we've been wondering how and when news magazines will cover it in print. With the logistics of reporting poor at best, who will be the first to cover the story in next week's issues?

So far the front-runner seems to be the much-talked about efforts by Newsweek magazine. The Washington Post Co.-owned magazine has tapped none other than President Obama to write a cover story on Haiti for the Jan. 25 issue hitting newsstands on Monday.

While some media watchers have praised Newsweek for their bold move, others complain the news magazine has gone too far. The Wall Street Journal reports that "Getting Obama to write an essay about the Haiti tragedy is a coup for the struggling magazine and aligns squarely with its new strategy."

Last year, Newsweek magazine reinvented itself after a major revenue loss at in the first half of the year. At that time, Editor Jon Meacham wrote, "We will publish a rethought and reinvented NEWSWEEK, one that preserves our traditional journalistic values while inaugurating a fresh and bold approach to reporting and thinking about the world."

Magazine Covers: Love, Chocolate and Red All Over

Hi:) Just like last month, we're looking at our February magazine issues that have already arrived, and wondering what kind of spin the top-selling magazines will put on another annual/predictable theme: Valentine's Day. So far, we've been a little more satisfied by the variety of ways magazines have embraced or stayed away from cupid's holiday, than we were with last month's widely-repeated "New Year, New You" angle on New Year's.

Unsurprising, women's magazines and food & cooking magazines mostly did not resist covers with a Valentine's Day palette and content theme. Like this Martha Stewart Living magazine cover below, Southern Living, Woman's Day and Every Day with Rachael Ray sport pink, red and white colors and a mention of chocolate (yum).

Outside of those categories, Psychology Today as seen below, continue the pink palette and love theme, albeit from a different angle. Travel + Leisure and Maxim magazine also feature a Valentine's Day palette and theme. Although it's a bit of a stretch, we also consider Road & Track magazine's cover, which features a red Ferrari 458 Italia, to be a Valentine's Day-inspired cover. After all, isn't Valentine's Day at least a little about fantasy?

Still, there are a few magazines that embraced the love as a theme, though subtly. The best example for us is Ebony magazine with its feature "Love Stories Revealed: How 8 Couples Keep it Going."

And finally, there are those magazines that gave Valentine's Day themes and color palettes the hand like Marie Claire, Natural Health, Instyle and Food Network magazine.

My Favorite Magazine: The New Yorker

Hi:) Dear People of Earth: Today we are starting a new blog series called “My Favorite Magazine.” As you might have guessed from the title, we’ll be asking people to tell us about their favorite magazines each month.

Why are we doing this? Well, we spend a lot of time following the magazine industry and we know the way
we read magazines is evolving.

We don’t know exactly what the future for the magazine industry holds, but we do know one thing: it will include people who love reading magazines. And we don't think there's enough focus on this important fact. So each month we will post a Q&A with a magazine reader. Here we go:

Our first interviewee, Jerry, picked The New Yorker as his favorite magazine.

A little bit about The New Yorker magazine: First published in 1925, The New Yorker is famous for its award-winning reporting, fiction, poetry, political cartoons, commentary and reviews. The New Yorker focuses on the cultural life of New York City, but also reports on national and international affairs.

1. Tell us who you are, what you do and what you are passionate about.

Let’s see...I live in Fort Worth, Texas. I work a corporate job, write rock songs, design clothes, take neighborhood walks, drink Guinness, watch movies, and pal around with friends.

2. How long have you been reading magazines?

My relationship with magazines started tentatively. I would go to the grocery store with my mom as a kid and find myself bored and listless at the magazine racks. I’d skim heavy metal magazines and MAD but those titles didn’t really do it for me. I think it was the high school library that finally sucked me into the world of magazines. I’d pick up whatever they had – GQ, National Geographic, Time, um, Glamour – and my world instantly opened up. Those magazines contained a secret universe. I’d read stories about fashion, art, travel, music, and occasionally stumble on a picture of a naked woman. It was exciting stuff.

Now you have me reflecting on my history with magazines. Let's see: Tennis, GQ, and eventually - mid to late 90's - I obsessively read music magazines like Spin and Magnet. I was sort of interested in urban planning, architecture, design, environmental issues, etc so I had a subscription to Dwell that recently lapsed. (side note: My friends Jackson and Heather bought me a subscription to the now-defunct Domino magazine because they knew I was too embarrassed to buy it on my own although I always ended up skimming it at the magazine stand.) But really, I think the New Yorker is the coolest: movie criticism, music criticism, Malcolm Gladwell, fiction writing, and all the rest.

3. Why did you start reading The New Yorker?

I told a friend that my favorite magazine was The New Yorker and she said it sounded pretentious. Well, I’m here to defend the magazine as one of the last retreats for the general reader who likes good fiction, interesting essays, and compelling music and movie reviews. Plus, it’s always held a personal appeal for me because so many writers I have liked have been regular contributors to its pages over the decades. More than anything, I find the stories and essays to be consistently entertaining. Most recently, I enjoyed the profile on director (and fellow Texan) Wes Anderson in the magazine’s cartoon issue.

4. What are your magazine-reading rituals?

I keep things fairly simple. No favorite chair but I do prefer to have my feet propped up with a hot beverage within reach. Usually I start at the back of the magazine and work my way to the front. Sometimes I sit cross-legged on the floor against the couch. Either way, it’s a pretty blissful way to spend part of an afternoon.

The Beaver Magazine To Change Name Due To Sexual Connotation - Interesting!

Hi all :) After 90 years, The Beaver magazine is getting a name change. Winnipeg-based publication plans to relaunch in the spring with a new name, Canada's History.

The new moniker is coming, in part, because of the sexual connotation of the original name. A spokeswoman says some readers complained that online newsletters they received from the publication were getting caught in spam filters.Deborah Morrison also said many web surfers were not staying on the magazine's site very long, suggesting it was not what they'd gone searching for. The Beaver will make the name change in April. Enjoy:)

Chamber Produces Final Edition Of ‘NC Magazine’ - 66 Years

Hi guys:) The North Carolina Chamber is getting out of the magazine business after 66 years.

The state's leading business advocacy group announced Wednesday its bimonthly magazine will cease publication with the current issue because advertising revenues for the "NC Magazine" plummeted 68 percent this year. Fyi. Take care:)
