noreply@blogger.com (Valencia C.) — Tue, 11 Oct 2011 19:54:00 +0000

You've got to love Fall, it's the only time of the year you can go to the pumpkin patch. When I was a little girl my elementary school, would take us to the pumpkin patch every year. It was something so amazing about being surrounded by all of those pumpkins that makes me want to bring aj every year... :-)

Oh yeah,

last year around this time when aj was still baking:

Hurricane Katrina

noreply@blogger.com (Valencia C.) — Tue, 30 Aug 2011 14:42:00 +0000

So much destruction, so much devastation, so much uncertainty.

We still live it. We will Never Forget, but we are still rebuilding. We are still picking up the pieces 6 years later.

I love my city. I hope I never have to leave ever again.

Oh My, How I love My Vintage High Chair!

noreply@blogger.com (Valencia C.) — Tue, 30 Aug 2011 14:30:00 +0000

I have been on a hunt for an old school high chair since before Jr. was born. CL has always been my best friend when it comes to finding treasure, but for months nothing. Until last month, I came across this baby and I had to spend the 10 bucks on it:

She needs some work, but hey she's worth it.. I heart her.... ;-) Now all I need is a vintage pot, but I got some time....

What you think?

The Evolution of our Bar Stools....

noreply@blogger.com (Valencia C.) — Mon, 29 Aug 2011 16:30:00 +0000

My Our design style is evolving, so the things we spent so much time doing, we are changing it again, and I couldn't be more excited about it.

When we brought off CL:

Contemporary espresso with tan fabric.. I wasn't a fan...

Then I decided to change fabric to this..

Not sure why I chose that fabric

so again I changed it again.

TO this mess...

Country Chic??lmao

so it went through it's blue period..

new color & fabric.. I hated it.

What was I thinking??

Today:

Now, this is by far my favorite!

Contemporary Global

black & new fabric... I just love looking at these chairs!

Which transformation do you like the best??

I hated absolutely hated the color of the pantry door. Plus, it was peeling....Never a good or safe thing with a baby, so we stained it. When I tell you it was such a transformation. I wish I would have done this from the start. I absolutely love the screen door now.

Stuck at the Crossroads

noreply@blogger.com (Valencia C.) — Thu, 18 Aug 2011 04:12:00 +0000

Time to catch my breath. Time to clear my head and focus on me. Now, what should I do with this time to myself? Do something for my family maybe? Being a wife & mom is a never ending battle and sometimes I feel like I'm losing. I don't get up and fix my husband breakfast like I should. I don't cook every night like I should. I really feel like my house is a mess no matter how many times I clean up. I always feel behind in everything. I can't seem to get on top of things. I also, don't have time to take care of myself. I feel fat even ugly sometimes. My hair is never done. I hardly wear make-up. I don't shop for clothes nor do I shop for shoes anymore. I don't paint my toes or get my eyebrows waxed anymore. I feel like a failure, but I know I try. I just wish I knew my life's path. I wish I knew my purpose in life. I could just find my passion. confused.

One thing is for sure is that I love my family with all of my heart and soul. Nobody is better than my husband. Nobody kisses me like him. Nobody loves me like him. He is the one thing in my life that I am sure of. Well him and Jr. :-)

Planning Aj's The Streets Party! :-)

noreply@blogger.com (Valencia C.) — Fri, 12 Aug 2011 22:37:00 +0000

our kid loves Sesame St. that is the only show he will watch and let me have a little peace of mind, so we decided we are going to throw him a Sesame St. 1st birthday party. I must admit. I am really nervous because Sesame St. parties can get really cheesy really fast. I am not a big fan of cheesy over the top kid parties. However, I have done alot of research on Sesame St. parties. People have done some amazing jobs on creating beautiful modern Sesame st. parties that are so not cheesy. So yes, my nervousness subsided a little. However, those people are extremely talented. lol . I'm not saying i'm not, but there are some amazingly creative bloggers out there. Nevertheless, I have came up with my must haves.

Baby Proofing Already....

noreply@blogger.com (Valencia C.) — Tue, 03 May 2011 15:02:00 +0000

Wow, I have been blog neglecting. I think this is my first post of the new month. I have been super busy as if I even have time to post this, but Jr. is still sleeping, so I plan on taking full advantage of this moment of silents. :)

What has been going on here at Casa Cheatham ??
Well, we have been finishing up the office, finishing up the backyard garden & a whole lot of cleaning and organizing... whew.. We're broke so all of this with no money.. :)

I have been also, daydreaming about Jr.'s first party which I know I have sometime, but I have to be on the look out for deals and stuff, so he can have one amazing party. We have also, been thinking about what we are going to do for Sr.'s gathering this June. Sr.'s birthday is ALWAYS an event! We won't get into it because it might cause an argument... lol

Anyways, Jr. Has been doing some amazing stuff which is good and bad. He is now a pro crawler now. He follows me around crying for me to pick him up. He pulls himself up on things like chairs, bar stools, bed rails, sofas, ottomans, etc.. However, he has not mastered the art of getting back down, so once he does these amazing things, he cries out for momma to help him back down. :)

So we have started baby proofing we have so much baby proofing to do. We Sr. put Jr.'s bed down because that is the first thing he started pulling up on. & that began his quest to conquer pulling up on everything else in this house..

Here is baby crying because mommy dared to leave him in his bed alone..

He's still sooo cute even when he is screaming at the TOP of his lungs! :)

But here is a cute baby walking at 6 months. I really hope JR. DOESN'T start this. Even though he trying, but I give him til he's about 9 months at least (I hope). I know what you're thinking? Why would I not want him to start walking early. Well, I like him being a baby, and I also like my stuff , so don't judge me..lol

Do you have any baby proofing tips?? When did you start baby proofing?

A pair of $28 lamps!

noreply@blogger.com (Valencia C.) — Thu, 28 Apr 2011 14:38:00 +0000

The base of the lamp is a little bit bigger.

I think I got a deal.. What do you think about my new lamps???

Being a better Wife.

noreply@blogger.com (Valencia C.) — Wed, 27 Apr 2011 13:33:00 +0000

I am inspired. I have just watched an episode of the Rachael Ray show called 1950's wives. It inspired me to want to be a better wife to my husband. I am not going to lie. I am an okay wife. Everyday I strive to be a great wife. It's hard especially with a young child. However, that is NOOO excuse. I am determined to cook everyday, have the house cleaned everyday, take care of myself & just be understanding to his needs. Also, I want to not be so upset all the time.

I enjoy being at home. Being a house wife is truly a blessing, I would have never thought I would enjoy it has much as I do! It's just I have so much going on day to day that I just always seem behind on everything. I always feel like I can't get organized no matter how hard I try.

However, I have found a new blog called womenlivingwell (I found this blog through A Bowl Full of Lemons ). This lady is amazing. She makes me want to be a better wife. She makes me want to be a better Christian which lately I haven't been. You should check out her blog because she will have you wanting to change your life. :)

My list of things I am working on:

Cooking everyday

Breakfast
Lunch
& Dinner

Cleaning entire house everyday

Spend more time with my husband

& working on saying yes. :)

Also, finding time to garden & decorate.

Here is the episode I was watching:

These women seem so happy.

How are your wife skills? How do you manage it all?

***Oh yeah, Jr. made 6 months already! whew time sure does fly!

& We Have a Crawler! (Milestones)

noreply@blogger.com (Valencia C.) — Tue, 26 Apr 2011 14:08:00 +0000

Baby Milestones:
(Source: Wondertime.go.com)
In general, infants between 6 and 9 months old:
Sit unassisted. While many infants start to work on their sitting skills before this age, their ability to sit well (in other words, without tipping over and hurting themselves) takes some time. By 7 months, the average infant can sit while leaning on both hands for support. By a month later, he will progress to sitting alone without support, and by 9 months, most can reliably sit unassisted for longer periods of time. He can also sit in the basket without a car seat for an extend time! (Read About That Here)

Start to stand. The timing of this milestone tends to vary greatly from one infant to the next. That said, many infants between 6 and 9 months will begin to bear weight on their feet and legs, and by 9 months or so, may even be able to pull to a stand while holding onto furniture. He has started doing this already!!He is standing up on things his bed rails, bar stools & chairs. I never thought we would be baby proofing already!

Consider crawling. The reason we say "consider" is because while infants are generally capable of pulling themselves along with their arms (some even getting up on their hands and knees) by around 9 months of age, the fact is that there are some infants who never crawl. And while the parents of those infants often are greatly concerned, crawling is not truly a milestone, but rather, it is but one way of assessing whether a child's muscle strength and motor development are developing. If you are concerned about your own baby's lack of interest, discuss it with his pediatrician before spending much time worrying about it! Guess what we have a crawler! My child is really crawling!

Jr. is crawling already. Can you believe it? He has been determined for the pass month to crawl & guess what each day he gets better at it, and he goes longer.

**2 out of 7 nights he sleep in his own bed for the entire night ( which is a blessing for me)

I don't want to brag, but I have one amazing, determined, advanced little fella ! :)

When did your children start these mile stones?
