Play In A Day is a 24hr complete theatrical experience. From conception to completion, the entire process takes less than a day.

AUDITIONS: FOOTLOOSE, Salem Community Theatre, May 20, 21

Audition notice

Audition dates have been set for Salem Community Theatre’s production of “FOOTLOOSE” on Sunday and Monday, May 20 and 21, 2012.

The director, Nicole Paolozzi, music director, Gary Kekel and choreographer will be looking for a diverse cast of youth and adults, approximately ages 16-65 for various roles large and small, to stage the familiar story of a rebelious youth in an extremely conservative small mid-western town.

Besides reading from the script, come prepared to sing (bring either sheet music or a CD track) and, of course, dance (bring your dancin’shoes!).

Rehearsals will commence in early June, with show dates of August 3rd thru 12th.

AUDITIONS: KING STAG at the Oakland Center of the Performing Arts May 20

Auditions will take place at The Oakland Center for the Arts on

SundayMay 20 from 4:30-6:00 and
Monday May 21 from 4:30-6:00.

Carlo Gozzi’s King Stag dates from 18th century Italy and is adapted for the Oakland Stage by Director Cleric Costes. It tells the story of King Deramo’s search for his bride, and features a compelling cast of characters including the would be princesses, a double-crossing prime minister, a magician, members of court, a parrot, and of course, the magical stags from which the play draws its title. It is a fairly tale for all ages, with magic and confusion, betrayal and love.Show dates are July 13, 14, and 15 and July 21 and 22. Actors are expected to be available for five performances and for rehearsals from 4-6/6:30 weekdays beginning on May 28th.

Auditioners must be between the ages of 12 and 17 and will be asked to read from the script. Please bring a current wallet-sized photo.

A participation fee of $20 per actor will benefit the cost of the production. Cast members will not be turned away due to inability to pay the participation fee.

The Oakland is proud to begin our Teen Summer Stock series with Cleric Costes. Cleric earned a degree in Theater Studies from Kent State University in 2006 before moving to Chicago to pursue a variety of theatrical endeavors until recently returning to the Youngstown/Warren area. Since then, he helped found the Mahoning Valley Players who stage Shakespeare in the Park, and he has directed and acted in many local productions.

Assisting with the production will be Jenna Cintavey, who is pursuing a Theater Studies degree at KSU and runs the Lowellville High School Drama Club. She is also known for her work with local improv troupes as well as her performances in local productions.
