		<description>Soccer night for the girls went well for the Lions and Tigers as Belfast picked up a 3-2 win over Nokomis and Rockland tied Lincoln Academy 2-2 in double overtime. Belfast goes to 2-0 on the season and Nokomis falls to 1-1. Rockland goes to 0-1-1 while Lincoln Academy also falls to 0-1-1. Rockland 2, Lincoln Academy 2 (Double OT)… The Tigers and Eagles battled for 80 minutes and then through two grueling overtimes only to finish the game knotted 2-2 in a game played under the lights at Lincoln Academy Bethany Berry and Kim Young each scored for the Tigers. Sarah Alley and Katherine Bolster each scored a goal for the Eagles. Danessa MacDonald played goal for the entire game for the Tigers and had four saves. Rockland will return to action Friday, Sept. 9 when they travel to Belfast to take on the 2-0 Lions. 		<description>BIDDEFORD, Maine &amp;#8212; Senior Jason Marks (East Lyme, Conn.) and sophomore Kevin Tarr (Hermon, Maine) each scored a goal as the University of New England picked up its first win of the season Wednesday afternoon, defeating the University of Southern Maine, 2-0, in non-conference men&amp;#8217;s soccer action from Barbara J. Hazard Field. The Nor&amp;#8217;easters evened their record at 1-1-1 with the victory, giving Matt Gnall his first collegiate coaching win. The Huskies suffered their third setback to start the season, dropping to 0-3 overall. In the 32nd minute, two one-touch passes from junior Kiel Hiller (Galloway, N.J.) and Cody Lapointe (Pownal, Maine) set up a fast-breaking Marks, who held off a defender while ripping a shot past the on-rushing goalkeeper to put UNE in front for good. Tarr gave Big Blue an insurance goal in the 79th minute, collecting a pass from junior Dan Crear (North Attleboro, Mass.) and lofting a shot up over the USM netminder. 		<description>BIDDEFORD, Maine &amp;#8212; First-year Morgan Jensen (New Hartford, Conn.) scored in the first half and senior Kristin Meza (San Diego, Calif.) added an insurance goal in the second, as the University of New England recorded its second consecutive shutout with a 2-0 victory over the University of Southern Maine in non-conference women&amp;#8217;s soccer action Wednesday at Barbara J. Hazard Field. Jensen opened the scoring in the 15th minute when she took a feed from senior Cassie Zdrojeski (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and took several dribbles before driving a low shot past Southern Maine junior keeper Kat Rothe (Leeds, Maine). UNE would control play for the majority of the first stanza, establishing a 11-2 advantage in shots and 4-2 margin in corner kicks. The Nor&amp;#8217;easters doubled their lead off a corner kick in the 77th minute. 		<description>GORHAM, Maine. – Sophomore middle blocker Chelsey Crawford (Westfield, Mass.) hit for a match-high 12 kills to lead the Daniel Webster College Eagles to a 3-1 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a non-conference women’s volleyball match Wednesday night at Hill Gymnasium in Gorham, Maine. After dropping the first game to the Huskies 15-25, the Eagles rattled off three straight wins 25-14, 25-17 and 25-17 to secure the win in their season opener. The Eagles are now 1-0. Suffering their fifth straight loss in as many matches, the Huskies are 0-5. Crawford added three solo blocks and three service aces for the Eagles. Junior setter Caitlyn DePierro (Billerica, Mass.) effectively orchestrated her team’s offense with 27 assists while chipping in with five service aces. Sophomore outside hitter Samantha Hill (Hudson, N.H./Alvirne) added 10 kills, three service aces and one solo block. Southern Maine junior Hallie Noah (Anchorage, Alaska) paced the Huskies with seven kills, seven assists, three service aces and three solo blocks. 		<description>The Camden Hills boys soccer team looks to be one of the teams to beat early this season with their uptempo style of play and depth off the bench that has them outscoring their opponents 14-0 in the first two games of the 2010 season. Wednesday the Windjammers led by sophomore Sam Predham with four goals defeated host Medomak Valley 6-0 in Waldoboro. Camden Hills goes to 2-0 while Medomak Valley falls to 0-1 as the Windjammers spoiled the Panthers home opener. Predham had four goals to pace the Windjammers. Andy Stevick and Vinny Kwiatkowski had one goal each. Andrew Flanagan, Yani Stancioff, Joe Bartlett and Max Mercier all had one assist each. Camden goal keepers Ian Cushing (4 saves on 4 shots) and Derek Drechsler (3 saves on 3 shots) combined for the shutout win. Medomak Valley keeper Robbie Griffin had 18 saves on 24 shots in the loss. Camden Hills scored four goals in the first half. Predham scored unassisted at the 30:00 mark and scored his second goal at 18:59 with an assist from Flanagan. 		<description>The newly combined Rockland and Thomaston middle school field hockey team hosted Troy Howard Middle School for the season opener Wednesday and handed them a 6-0 loss. Rockland scored five goals in the first half and one in the second. Six different players scored in the game. Alex Chase scored 10 minutes into the game for the first goal. A minute later Emily Gould creased the net at 11 minutes. Jackie Thorbjornson scored at 18 minutes, Clara Feltus scored at 26 minutes and Rebekah Freeman finished the scoring for the fist half at 28 minutes. Molly Tobin scored the only goal of the season half at the 26 minute mark to make the score 6-0 Rockland/Thomaston. Peyton Billingsley work in goal for Rockland and had no saves. Rockland had 11 penalty corners in the game. Troy Howard stats for the goalie and team were were not kept and could not be reported. 		<description>The Camden Hills girls soccer team hosted Medomak Valley Wednesday in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference match up at Don Palmer Field on the campus of Camden Hills Regional High School. After falling behind 1-0 early, the Windjammers put four goals in the net before the Panthers could score again as they won the game 4-2 Camden Hills is now 2-0 on the season. This was the season opener for the Panthers who fall to 0-1. Scoring for Camden Hills were, Caroline Matteo with two goals while Melanie Vangel and Mia Maddox had one each. Vangel and Jacquelyn Richards had an assist each. For Medomak Valley, Emily Leach and Kasey Benner each had a goal and Alanna Vose had an assist. Lindsey Bumbalo had 12 saves for the Windjammers on 14 shots from the Panthers for the win. Amanda Hendrickson-Belloguet worked in goal for Medomak Valley and had 16 saves on 20 shots from the Windjammers. Camden Hills held the edge in corner kicks 5-2 while Medomak Valley had the advantage with 3 direct kicks to Camden Hills two. 		<description>The Mount View field hockey team picked up another win Tuesday, 4-0, as they traveled to Wales to take on Oak Hill in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference match up. Mount View goes to 2-0 on the season while Oak Hill falls to 0-2. The Mustangs had 40 shots on goal as they dominated play from start to finish. Had it not been for the outstanding work from the Raiders goalie, Sara Lacroix the game would not have been this close. The Mustangs split the game in goal between Abbie Charrier in the first half and Amanda Hall in the second half. Oak Hill did not get a shot on goal the entire game. Mount View had 22 penalty corners. All four goals came in the second half. Chrissy Larrabee scored assisted by Brianna Moody with 24:35 left in the second half. Cheyenne Dyer scored unassisted with 16:56 left on the clock. Katie Cloutier scored, assisted by Hayleigh Kein with 14:02 left on the clock and Brianna Moody had a penalty stroke and scored with 5:12 left on the clock. 		<description>The Dirigo girls soccer team picked up another win with a hard fought win over a tough Madison team Tuesday in a game played at Madison Memorial High School. Georges Valley continued to defend its state championship with a hard fought win over Wiscasset Tuesday as well. Both team won their games on penalty kicks in the first half. Dirigo 1, Madison 0… Dirigo moves to 2-0 on the season while Madison drops to 0-2. The lone goal was the result of a penalty kick from Natalie Bolduc in the first half. Dirigo&amp;#8217;s Natasha Deroche had 13 saves to record the shutout while Madison&amp;#8217;s Savanna Kandiko had seven saves on nine shots in the loss. Dirigo and Madison both had four corner kicks. Dirigo will host Mountain Valley Thursday, Sept 9, while Madison will travel to Jay the same day.
