Mum wrote this poem and made the first owl, I made five baby owls to go with it and then we wrote a story about them .... watch this space.

Mobile of Hearts

This is another project we did this week because I'm off school because I'm ill.
I got the idea from one of my craft books and it was amazing fun.
It took me about an hour and a half to make it.

Materials:
- paper
- glue
- paint
- glitter
- stickers
- pencil
- scissors
- string or wool or thread

I folded a piece of paper in half
Then I drew a quite large circle and cut it out - this means I had two large circles
I took the circles together and folded them in half
Then I cut a smaller semi circle from this larger one - to make a ring
I took the smaller two circles (cut out from the large one) and cut a heart shape in it
Now I had two large rings, two smaller rings with heart centres and two hearts
I cut a piece of wool to the length I wanted my mobile and laid it on the table.
I put one large circle under the wool and glued all over it
I stuck the other large circle over the top - to hold the wool in place
I did the same with the heart centred circles and with the hearts.
Once the glue was dry I painted the circles and hearts and decorated them.

When it was all finished I hung it up to dry and it's still there in our conservatory looking great.

This is so much fun, I hope you try it too.

Sand Art

I've been off sick most of this week with a tummy bug :(

But it's meant we've had loads of time at home to do art and craft :)

Mum had got a sand art kit and we did that yesterday. It was super easy to use with a funnel for the bottles. There were eight different colours and enough to fill all three bottles and some spare.

Here are our creations.
Mum went mad with all the colours but I like it anyway

I did this red, orange and yellow bottle which is like a sunset on one side

and like a flower on the other

and then I did this one which uses mums favourite colours and looks like a multi coloured beach

The only thing not in the kit was something to seal the corks in the tops but sellotape did the trick.

Something funny for money

Comic Relief wanted us to do something funny for money to help kids around the world.

I was ill on red nose day but I have now done something funny for money, I made a silly hat out of pipe cleaners and pulled funny faces.

Good enough for money I think.

A tiny twisted tale review

I was sent three of the tiny twisted tale books to review. They are Jenny, pale Henry and Stuart the big eating man. This review is about Jenny.

Jenny isn't a girlie girl, she likes to hunt werewolves! The story is about one of her adventures with her trusty bat to hit the werewolves with.

I really like the book because it rhymes which is like a song you sing through the book. The pictures are brilliant and really funny, especially of the werewolf.

I wouldn't normally read books about werewolves but I'm really pleased I tried this because it's brilliant.

The book is easy to read and that's great because you can read it again and again. It's really good to read out loud as well.

I definitely recommend it and can't wait till the new ones come out.

The tiny twisted tale books are written and illustrated by Calvin Innes and published by my little big town. They are "a collection of spooky, scary, strange, disgustingly wonderful and wonderfully macabre stories" designed to engage children with books which they enjoy. I would never have picked a book like this off the shelf at the library of local book shop, I wouldn't have thought it would appeal to Rachel. But now she's read it about 10 times in two days I've realised that I'm not the expert in her choice of books. A good lesson for all us parents.

Have you seen that the Blue Peter appeal this year is

Go pyjamas

They are asking us to do something in our pyjamas to raise money for children in need.

I asked my school of we could come in on Friday 16th November 2012 in our pyjamas. I had to put this to school council and my class representative told me that they agreed. That means our whole school will come to school in their pyjamas that day and raise lots of money.

I've also asked my dad to go to work in his pyjamas but I don't think he wants to join in. Do you think he should?

Mum says we could do a go pyjamas at church but it won't be until Sunday 18th November 2012. It could work brilliantly though because we are doing a session on shepherds that day and shepherds look like they wear pyjamas anyway.

Monster High DVD Review

I love being part of the tots100 film club, I get to see films and tell you what I like about them. This Halloween we've been sent the new monster high DVD to review.

I'd never heard of monster high before but it's amazing. It's a cartoon like a mix between high school musical and Halloween. There are monsters who go to one school and normies who go to another.

In the film the monsters and especially the ghouls - girls - try to make friends with the normies who think the monsters are really scary.

I give it 9/10 because it's funny and cool.
Mum gives it 7/10 because it is not for kids but she likes the way everyone is together at the end and are friends even though they're all really different.

My favorite character is Frankie Stein, she has different coloured eyes and she is really cool. Which character do you like from the film?

Moshi Monster Halloween

Playing and learning about ripples

Look at how this wax has got ripples in it, isn't it amazing. Mum says this is how water ripples as well but because water is so fast it's hard to see. The wax was dripping from the candles and each time it landed it made a wave of ripples in the wet wax. It's so cool.

I love playing in the leaves at autumn, they're all crunchy and mushy and great to kick and throw.

Here is something else we made out of geomag; a bridge.

I didn't think it was a bridge, I was just building the longest and strongest thing I could. when I'd finished building it mum told me that this is shape that they build bridges out of with girders.

Playing and Learning about magnets

I love my Geomag; it's fun and you can make so many things out of it. I was using the balls to pick up other balls today using their magnetism; it's amazing how many the magnets can hold.

I also went all over the house finding lots of things that are magnetic like the radiators and the fridge of course and mums desk.

Playing and Learning about space

This is the first post called playing and learning. Mum is always taking photos of me playing and learning and I to blog about them. I how you like them.

This one is about space.
I went on my first ever Beaver camp last week end and we learned lots of things about space and went on a star gazing walk. We made a model of a rocket, a planet and a space themed bookmark. We also made an amazing universe model out of a shoe box.

It was amazing and I really enjoyed it.
