Wk of 4/3 - 4/9 Quickview: Suave Dry Shampoo (and a few others)

Suave recently came out with a few new products, one of which is the dry shampoo. I have to say, this is hands down the best dry shampoo I've used so far. I don't like anything that makes your hair really white (Batiste) and I don't like anything that makes you feel like you can't breathe (Tresemme).

Suave will get white if you're really close, but the bottle says to warm this with your hands and it will disappear. This is true, although I tested it out on some others that I've tried and it doesn't work as well- so this must just be some Suave magic.

About breathing. I can not spray Tresemme in a small room (as in bathroom, where most women do their hair). It gets in my throat and saturates my lungs. It's just one of those really pungent, overpowering fragrances. The Suave has a really strong smell too, but it's sweet so it isn't as bad in my opinion. It almost smells like cotton candy.

There is one downfall. I don't know if I got a bad bottle or what, but that 5 oz disappeared very quickly. I believe the others are about 6 oz but they last much longer for some reason. Anyone else experience this? It can also sometimes make your hair feel thicker than some of the other products on the market. This can be good or bad depending on what you're looking for. All in all, I'd say it's a good buy at under $3.

****quick side note- Tresemme does have everyone beat with their refresher. It's the citrus smelling one- and it actually does a really good job of eliminating odor and making your hair shiny.****

This is a dumb move, CVS. Prepare for your cashiers to be bombarded with questions about why their product isn't cheaper based on the ad. Mfr coupons are not part of your sale, you shouldn't advertise them as such)

Hi all! Hope you are doing well and not catching the nasty flu that's going around. I did, and I was not a happy camper- don't know what the deal is but I seem to be catching everything this year. Wish I could catch a pregnancy ;)

So quickview- Physician's Formula Happy Booster Blush. I know everybody and their mama has already reviewed these, so I'm just gonna have a quick little say and be on my way. I absolutely love these! First of all, they are adorable. Yes, they're pink and have hearts everywhere which makes my dark side want to gag but my girly girl side just swoons in pleasure. Rose was part of the prize I sent out, so I've only swatched/worn Natural and it is a beautiful flush of pink with a very pretty sheen. It looks sparkly in the pan, which is rather scary, but it's not as bad on your face. Although, come to think of it, I haven't looked at it closely in sunlight... could be a Cullen alert, I'll have to update you once I've checked.

Anyway, the big claim with this is that it's going to make you happy because of the smell- some kind of endorphin-mimicking stuff that's supposed to put you over the moon. While it doesn't go quite that far, I do actually get almost giddy when I'm putting this stuff on. I mean, really. In fact, I'll even mix another blush and this on my brush just so I can get the smell of this. Some days I'll put a different blush on altogether but still open this one and just take a whiff! Seriously. Next thing you know I'll be snorting it. Heh. Just kidding, kids. Don't try that at home. Oh, and yes, I bought these on my own.

Check out that pic! Can't turn it for anything. It's fine on my computer but it won't change here. Sigh. Anyway, I ran in to Ulta today to pick up a few things. Did a little itty bitty mini haul and ended up coming home with something I didn't want. Don't you just hate that? It's actually that lippie on the right. I picked up "Petal" but meant to get a different one. I'm loving "Pink Sugar" though. Wow. It's a sparkly baby pink and feels as nice as the original line of Colorburst lipsticks (there is sparkle so it's a bit grittier but nothing major). Plus that packaging is to die for. I like it better than MAC tubes.

The main reason I went there is for the Brushlab brush that all the youtube people go on about. I ran it through my bangs when I got home and it does feel nice. The true test will be tomorrow ~~when~~ if I straighten my hair. We'll see. I also saw the new NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. That's the first time I've seen them there, are they new? They looked really nice. Anyone tried any? Tokyo looks soo pretty, I should have just grabbed it. It was only $5.99 I believe. Cheaper than the Revlon lipsticks. Anyway- on to the deals...

QuickView Maybelline One By One Volume Express Mascara

I know they spell it Volum. I can't bring myself to do that because it highly irritates me so we'll just move on and call it good. I am liking this mascara. My initial thoughts were that I hated it- it has a super flimsy brush and it smells (very strongly!) of roses. Obviously you don't smell it on your lashes, but keep that wand away from your nostrils people.

Why even add a scent? Just leave it the regular makeup-y scent that we're all used to. The only time I want to smell roses is when I'm looking at them. While the smell will never grow on me, the brush definitely has. It's not going to give you oodles of volume but it is going to get every lash and it's going to make them LONG. I used this alone and with my old stand-by LashBlast. The combo is really nice. I don't think I've met a mascara that hasn't paired well with Lashblast and it works on its own too- hence the reason it's my HG.

Anyway, this is supposed to be quick and I'm babbling- I would pick this up if you're looking for length. I'm going to give it some time to dry and see if it does any better for volume. Overall I'm way more impressed with this than I was with The Falsies. But, people like different looks on their lashes so this may be the opposite for you. I'd say it's worth a shot though.

There are a lot of reviewers out there that normally review high end makeup- and in my opinion- how can you honestly give an unbiased opinion of drugstore makeup if you're only using high end in real life? You use some, that's great- gives you an idea of what quality is- but if that's all you use? How would you know a good drugstore lipstick vs a junk one? Um, okay, I need to reign it in lol but that always struck me as odd.

*Off soapbox* haha

So, I think I want to do a contest!!! What prizes are you guys interested in? New drugstore products that have hit the shelves recently or something like a MAC lippie and blush or shadow and mascara as a little gift prize? Thoughts? I wanna know what you're interested in, don't be shy :)

I hope everyone is done with their Christmas shopping! I made the mistake of running up to Target today to get an RX filled and HOLY MOLY it was busy! But I did get to see a lot of new stuff. I'm so excited for some of the new products coming out, I can not wait. Yes, high end makeup is amazing, but when you are in the mood to try a whole plethora of new stuff and not break your wallet- drugstore is where you want to be.

Predictions? I'm going to hate the new Maybelline Fit Me foundation (shown above). I just don't see myself liking it- so I may not even pick it up unless I read some amazing reviews on it. I'm expecting to seriously love the new Revlon Colorstay mineral foundation. I'll possibly like the new Covergirl lippies- but I won't like the Loreal ones because they'll probably have that smell.

There are a couple other things coming that I'm looking forward to- Maybelline has a new mascara out- something about 1by1 something or other (haha!) and a few other Revlon products. Can you believe it's already December! We had our first official snow fall today (how fitting). I love the snow, it's very romantic, but I hate driving in it. Grrr. My skin always looks pretty darn good in the winter though- fresh, glowing complexion without any pesky oil peeking through.
