First Holiday Design

The first holiday design has made an appearance (I waited until after Halloween – that’s ok right?). Had lots of fun making this Christmas tree design out of dots to keep it modern and simple. Green dots form the tree with multi-colored dots for the ornaments. With only 5 weeks to go until the little peanut is born, I am trying to get lots of new things out before I run out of steam. :)

Hurricane Sandy packed quite a punch and so many are facing such loss. My thoughts are especially with all of those in Breezy Point, NY, where over 80 homes were lost in a horrible fire and many were able to nothing but wait for help and watch. Stuff is valable, but in the end, stuff it is just stuff. Our friends and family are what keep us all together and it makes me want to let mine know how much I appreciate and love them.

The Geek Goes On

I had so much fun make the first few “geek and nerd” onesies that I expanded the designs a bit further. Added to the glasses and bow tie shown in the last post, one more design inspired by the 80′s arcade game, Space Invaders, was added. All three are now sold individually and as a 3 pack.

I also did not want to leave the girls out so there are three more design for the little geeky girls.

The first is a black onesie with a heart shaped from a USB cable. The heart is a dark pink with a white overlay. Second is a pair of granny glasses hanging from a chain around the neck, and third is a love robot in blue with hot pink hearts. Also available individually or as a gift pack of three onesies.

Two new baby onesie designs in the store today.

Nerdy glasses (no extra charge for the tape) and a geeky checker bow tie. Hoping to have a third by the end of the weekend to make a new gift pack.

Back in Business

Wow, I have never experienced a move like this my life, and quite honestly, hope I never I do again. What a mess. The apartment did not have a Certificate of Occupancy, and then no hot water, and then parking issues, plumbing issues, and list goes on and on!

With that all behind us I have two good pieces of news to share. The first is that Make Haste Design is back open for business. I am reshooting a lot of the inventory so you will start to see more and more items start to pop up on the Etsy Store.

The other good news is that my husband and I are expecting our first baby in December so I really need to get cracking on getting the new designs made! I hope being in the trenches with all of the other moms out there will help me to make a better product.

2 Weeks and Counting

Two weeks until the big move. I can not wait! Our current apartment is getting smaller by the second and there is only so much longer I can wait until I have to starting packing my design books up to go. It is all still sinking in that I will have a real studio to work in and not just my dining room table! haha!

Etsy Success Symposium

I was very privileged to spend the day yesterday in DUMBO, Brooklyn at the Etsy.com headquarters for the 2nd annual Etsy Success Symposium. By the time I left, my mind was exploding with ideas on where to go and how take Make Haste Design to the next step.

The day was jammed packed with panels and sessions tackling the process of “how to get found.” Everything was covered from how to tell your story, getting into craft shows, pitching yourself to bloggers and magazine editors, catching the eye of a curator, using Pinterest, and How to conquer searches on the web.

I realized there is so much potential that I am not tapping into when it comes to my keywords, pricing, packaging, item titles, and a LOT more.

I have to say though, that the most valuable time where I took the most away for the day was squeezed into the 15 minutes I had with an Etsy curator to do a critique on where i was going with my shop. Talk about bang for the buck! I came away with so many amazing ideas, and you will see a lot of change coming from Make Haste Design in the next few months.

Thank you Etsy for being so amazing to your sellers, I feel like I am part of the tribe now.

Cassette Tape Side A / Side B Baby Onesie

Time to have a little fun. I have unfortunately been sick again these past few weeks. Just about when I seem to forget that I was sick it creeps up on me again. Oh well, I am tougher than all of that so it was time to have a little fun. A little size 6-12 months fun to be exact.

This new onesie is all about going back to the mixed tape of the 80′s and 90′s. The front is the “side A” of the cassette and the back “side B.”

This sample uses a dark red screen print ink, but as with all items in my shop the colors can be changed to suit your tastes or match a theme.

There are few more rockin onesies coming out soon, but they were made for a specific little man and I don’t want to give away the design yet.
