We painted flowers with the paint left on our pallets after we finished our paper mache artwork.  The brown craft paper was already cut just the right size- it was the packaging between the glass plates we collaged back in December. And it was free too. Yes, I keep everything. The kids painted the flowers, and then I cut them out at home. Our quilt group's monthly meeting never fails to inspire.  This is one of the things I'm working on.... These are going to be pockets on my quilted bag started at our sew day. I worked on them on my recent trip to New York. This is a quilt I started a long time ago. Years and years.   It started when someone gave me a stack of 3-inch squares of some really UGLY fabrics. Just the kind of leftovers-nobody-wants-it fabric that appeals to me. Here are a few of this year's pencil sketches from Art Club...   We did some practice drawing first identifying the basic forms first. Then we practiced shading with a five  value scale. Our monthly quilt group met last Friday, and as is always the case, provided lots of inspiration. First up is Helen's scrappy zig zag. This quilt started with yellow and zig zags.  I loved it. Helen did not.   So she went home and swapped the yellow for scrappy squares.  Okay Helen. You win. I know my seasons are out of whack. But that's how I roll when it comes to finishing quilts.   This was a group project for my quilt group- we all made a dozen gift box blocks, and then each got  12 different ones to take home, like a cookie exchange. I finally finished mine by adding a few more blocks and wonky log cabin strips to pull it all together.    This is a gift made for me from one of my grandgirls, Kennedy.  He's air dry clay and acrylic paint. He didn't make it home in one piece, but I was able to glue his tail back on. And I gave him a spray of clear varnish so he could shine a bit. Dear Kennedy, Thank you for my precious feathered friend. Our Quilt Group met last Friday for our monthly show and tell. This month, Barbara hosted. I loved seeing her raw-edged heart bull's eye quilt. She also shared her appliqued hearts quilt top-just the right quilt to be working on this month. Nan's French fabric quilt was bright and cheery-in contrast to the gray day here in the Pacific Northwest.
