STEP

Quick Method

1. Find a long elastic band, one that should fit over your head.

2. Make an L with your non dominant hand and put the elastic band over it so when you look at it straight; it should look like a gun.

3. Put the skewer on the opposite end of the elastic, pull it back, taking care it's facing in the exact middle of the space you created, and shoot.

Proper Method

1. Take a pen, or a mechanical pencil with a body that's just a little wider than a bamboo skewer.

2. Take out all mechanisms so its a hollow tube.

3. Take a very long elastic band and tie it around one end, but making sure there's still enough of the band left to pull back.

4. Put the bamboo skewer into the tube.

5. Pull the elastic band to the skewer, put it on, and pull it back far enough so that the skewer's tip and a little bit of the body are still in the skewer, but most of its sticking out.

WARNINGS

In the quick method, don't shoot your hand.
This can hurt somebody a lot, even in the quick method, and can even put somebody's eye out. Use at your own risk.
Even though this weapon is strong, it shouldn't be for day to day self protection. Use another weapon, such as a knife or metal rod, or hire a body guard.

TIPS for me

In the quick method, keep your fingers as far apart as you can.
In the proper method, try to have the tube around a four milimetres bigger than the tube in all directions for best results.
Try to find the longest elastic band you can.
The tube is to give better aim and a more focused shot.

Make a Flour Bomb with Household Materials

Things You'll Need

Party poppers
Kitchen roll
Flour

Steps

Take the explosive parts out of about 4 party poppers and tie them together.
Put some flour on a piece of kitchen roll and place the party popper explosives on the top of it.
Tie some string from the explosives and wrap the explosives and the flour in the kitchen roll making sure that the end of the string stays outside the kitchen roll but the explosives are in the roll.
Seal the kitchen roll so it is in a ball around the flour and explosives.
Light the string and stand back.

Tips

You could use more than one piece of kitchen roll and wrap it round the main bomb more than once if you want to throw the bomb.

Steps

Ping-Pong

Get a ping-pong ball

Paper

You can get a piece of paper
Tape it so there is no holes in it but one big one in the top
then throw it above your target.

Easter Egg Method

Open a regular plastic Easter egg.
Drill or cut out the little hole in the bottom.
Insert a firecracker (types may vary), and stick the wick out of the hole (M90's are cheap, small, and very powerful). Be sure to make the wick long enough for someone to be able to get away in time.
Fill the grenade with some inexpensive 6mm plastic BBs.
Close the Easter egg.
Light the fuse carefully.
Throw the egg at the target.

Balloon Method

Obtain some cheap water balloons, and some cheap BBs.
Use a speed loader to load about 50 BBs into the balloon.
Push the BBs down to the bottom of the balloon when you have filled it.
Add another 50 BBs and do the same thing.
Blow the balloon up to the size of a human fist. Add about 10 mm of water.
This balloon will shatter on impact.

Film Canister Grenade

Obtain two film canisters but take away the caps of the canister.
Fill the canisters halfway with 6mm plastic BBs.
Stretch a rubber band around the two canisters.
Slide a piece of cardboard in between the canisters.
Take out the cardboard.
Throw the canisters at the target.

Ping Pong Ball Method

Get a Ping Pong ball and some BB's
Cut a small rectangle about the length of the tip of your finger out of the ball
Fill the ball up with as many BB's as desired
Put a piece of tape over the hole so the BB's do not fall out in your pocket
When ready to throw, take tape off and cover with your finger, throw side-armed over target(s) You can also do this with paper if you can end up making the ball

Shotgun Shell Method

Find a used shotgun shell and fill it about halfway with dirt.
Put a green fuse firecracker in and fill the rest of the shell with dirt.
Put a small hole in a piece of paper and put the fuse though the hole.
Secure the paper with rubber bands.

Origami Method

Get a sheet of paper and make an origami water bomb.
Use a speed loader or funnel and load it to about three fourths capacity with plastic 6mm BBs.
Take a GREEN fused fire cracker and place it in the water bomb's hole fuse side up (or use a bottle rocket with the stick removed).
Place the rocket fuse side up through the water bomb's hole in the top.
Be very careful with it. The explosion CAN set the paper on fire.
(NOTE: Don't use too strong of an explosive, make sure it can't do any serious damage if something goes wrong)

Sandwich Bag Method

Take a plastic sandwich bag, and fill about 1/3 with vinegar
Place 6mm BB's into the vinegar
Take a tissue or paper towel and shake some baking soda (not baking powder) and fold the tissue or paper towel to completely surround the baking soda
Place the baking soda filled tissue or paper towel in the bag do not let the tissue or paper towel touch the vinegar until you are ready to throw the grenade
When you are ready to throw the grenade let the tissue or paper towel to make contact with the vinegar once the vinegar makes contact with the baking soda a gas will be released causing the bag to expand so once it hits a solid object it will blow up
NOTE: The Bag must be firmly closed otherwise the gas will escape from the bag making the grenade useless

Tips

The ping pong method works best when you cut the ball in half and tape it loosely together.
The fewer BBs in, the more they will shoot.
Only attempt under close adult supervision.
Always wear safety glasses.
Build over a tub as not to lose BBs.
use some sandpaper (NOT A POWER SANDER!) to scrape off some of the plastic on the egg with the easter egg method.
Use a water bottle instead of a plastic bag on the last version.

Warnings

This can be dangerous. Wear protective gear and do not be reckless.
Do not throw at moving objects.
If used for an airsoft fight, do not throw directly at person, throw at ground 1-2 feet away from target.
For methods involving firecrackers,always use green fuse firecrackers. Grey fuse firecrackers will blow up right after you light them.

How to Fly a kite

Flying a kite is great fun on a windy day. It's also very relaxing. The following directions will teach you how to fly a kite with a friend.

Steps

1.) Find a buddy to help you get the kite into the air.

2.) You should hold the ball of string called the bridle and have your buddy hold the kite or a light framework. The kite should be facing you and the wind.

3.) Unwind about 15 to 23 meters (16 to 30 yards) of string.

4.) Signal to your buddy to release the kite. You should pull on the string to launch your kite into the air.

5.) Pay attention to the wind direction, here is a diagram:

Tips

It is best to fly a kite in an open field, such as a soccer field or a grassy field since it is wide and open.
The best place to do this is on the beach/standing near a lake. Since out on the ocean there is nothing to block or divert the wind, it would make a better kite flying area.
To prevent a kite from crashing:
- If there is very little wind: run (careful, watch where you are going), remove kite tails and anything that can cause additional drag on the kite and try to make your kite as light as possible. Also, if your kite is going downwards, make the kite's point in the upper direction(by releasing the string slowly) and pull the string as fast as you can.
- If there is plenty of wind the try the following: tug the line(string) with a pumping motion and let out more line... this works great if you are in a "dive bomb" and can help to recover from that, and if you have already crashed or consider putting a tail or frayed trailing edge or something to create drag on the kite. This will add stability to your kite especially in high wind.

Make a Rocket Pen

Things You'll Need

A clicking pen
Lots of springs
Scissors or a nail file.

Steps

Find a click pen, with a top which is metal, or hard plastic, that you can easily unscrew. Make sure that the pen isn't broken or cracked, and has a usable spring, as the pen will not work without one.
Unscrew the top of the pen, and remove all contents, including any types of removable external parts of the pen.
Once the contents have been removed, begin to shave away the ridges using scissors, or a nail file, where the top is twisted on. Shave the pen enough to pull the top off easily, but DO NOT shave the ridges completely away, as the top will not stay on the pen.
Place at least one spring inside the pen, (where you found it earlier) and completely twist the top back onto the pen.
if you glue the spring in with a small dab of glue, the spring won't launch off with the pen, thus saving you a lost spring.
Aiming away from your face, click the now rigged pen, and watch as the top bursts out of the pen at full speed. You have now created a successful rocket pen.

Tips

The more springs you obtain, the farther the 'launch'.
If you click the pen, and it simply clicks like a regular pen, press on the clicking mechanism hard, until the top flies off. If this fails, continue to shave the ridges of the pen.
Since ALL the contents will normally fly out, test your rocket pen in an open space, so you are able to track the contents easily.

Warnings

Don't shoot at people, unless out of self-defense. (This includes siblings).
Aim only towards a certain target while 'launching' the top; Not at your face.

Steps

Standard Slingshot

Make a Handle

1.) Find a sturdy, Y-shaped piece of wood. You can make a slingshot with a forked branch of just about any size, but a piece about 6 to 9 inches long with a fairly uniform thickness of 1 to 2 inches will make a strong, easy-to-use slingshot. Try to find a piece with as few imperfections as possible; even moderate cracks can render your slingshot dangerous or unusable. If there are knots or bumps you can cut or sand them off.

2.) Peel off the bark. With the bark gone the slingshot will be more comfortable to hold. You may need to let the branch dry a little before you can get the bark off.

3.) Let the wood dry. This step isn't necessary, but if the wood is still green, it's a good idea to let it slowly dry. This will give it more stability and strength.

Make a Sling

1.) Get a long, thick rubber band to form the firing mechanism. You can make a stronger firing mechanism by using surgical tubing or several rubber bands wound around each other. You can experiment with the length to find out what works best, but it is important that it be strong and thick.

2.) Cut the rubber band in half. You now have a band for each side of the slingshot. If you're using surgical tubing or multiple rubber bands, you can skip this step; just make sure that each band (for either side of the firing mechanism) is of equal length.

3.) Get a rectangular piece of leather or strong cloth. (Several rectangles of duct tape stuck together work, too.) This will be your holder or "pocket." It should be slightly rectangular, with each side measuring between 2 to 4 inches.

4.) Cut a slit on either side of the pocket. Use a knife to make an incision about 1/4 to 1/2 inch in from each edge. The slits should run parallel to the shorter edges of the pocket and be the same distance from their respective edges. The slits should also be just large enough for the rubber band to fit through without being wrinkled.

5.) Slip one end of one of your rubber bands through the slit and fold it back over itself so that it makes a little loop around the edge of the pocket. Secure the loop by putting a small, but sturdy rubber band around. The smaller rubber band will probably have to be doubled or tripled around itself to make it tight enough. Repeat this other rubber band on the other side of the pocket. Make sure the bands on both sides are still of equal length.

Assemble for Use

1.) Secure the free ends of the long rubber bands to the handle by tying them or using electrical tape. Attach one free end to either branch of the “Y,” near the tip. Once again make sure the bands are of equal length.

2.) Shoot your slingshot. Use small rocks, rubber balls, and wadded-up pieces of paper--just about any small projectile--as ammunition. Exercise caution when firing your slingshot and wear eye protection.

Tips

Surgical tubing works better than rubber bands. It is much stronger due to its shape, and can be bought online or even at some hobby or hardware stores.
Tightly wrap the handle with tape or twine to provide a surer, more comfortable grip.
You can make slingshots of just about any size. Try varying sizes to find out which work best.
Dried wood works better for slingshots. Make sure it's dried slowly or it may be prone to cracking.
To protect your eyes, don't raise the slingshot to eye level. With practice you can be just as accurate (or more) by holding the loaded pocket in a fixed position close to your body (near the hip for example), and moving the body of the slingshot to aim.
Head bands can be used in the place of rubber bands as they don't break as easily and are longer.

Warnings

Use your slingshot responsibly. Treat it with the respect it deserves.
Your rubber bands should be as strong as possible. Therefore, be sure that they aren't dried-out, cracked, or torn.
Never fire your slingshot in the direction of people or animals. Your slingshot should be treated with the same caution as a deadly weapon.
Protect your eyes and use your slingshot with care.
Be sure that the branch has no sign of rot; a dead branch can result in serious injury.
Never pull the pouch back to your eye. If the rubber snaps, you will hit yourself in the face.
Always be aware of your surroundings.
If you have a wooden frame, first make sure that it is a solid piece of wood that doesn't have cracks or holes.

Clay and bottle volcano

1.) Form the bottom of the volcano. Purchase clay, or make your own salt dough/play dough or clay.

2.) Get a clean 15 ounce soda or water bottle, and place it in the center of the base.

3.) Build the clay up around the bottle, making sure to press the clay firmly around the base of it. Take care not to get any other materials around or inside the mouth of the bottle.

4.) In a small sink, add baking soda to the bottle using a funnel. Adding both together in a bowl will produce bubbles in a bowl, not a volcano.

5.) Place the funnel in the mouth of the bottle and pour in the vinegar, then stand back! Alternatively, if you want another way to make it erupt, put Pepsi or diet coke in the bottle then drop either two or three Mentos.

Clay and soda can volcano

1.) Lay down a sheet of wax paper.

2.) Put a soda can on the center of the volcano. If you have a large base, you can use a larger can.

3.) Mold the clay from the base to the top of the can. Remove the can.

4.) Leave for one hour or until dry.

5.) Color some vinegar with red food coloring.

6.) Pour it into the volcano.

7.) Take baking powder and pour it on a square of toilet paper or paper towel.

8.) Fold up the toilet paper/paper towel. Keep it closed with rubber bands.

9.) Drop the baking soda roll in the vinegar.

10.) Step away. Once the paper dissolves, your volcano will explode.

Warnings

This is an extremely messy experiment! It's best performed outdoors or in a kitchen or bathroom with tile floors. If using food coloring, there is a risk of staining floors and furnishings.
Stand back as soon as you pour in the vinegar––the volcano will immediately start to erupt.
This experiment can be dangerous if you are too close. The fizzing ingredients can end up in your eyes if you're too close to the volcano when it erupts. Step back 2 feet (60cm, 2 ruler lengths) immediately.

Create Ping Pong Ball Cannon

Things You'll Need

Paper Towel Roll
Duct Tape
Sharp Pair of Scissors or Knife
Grill Lighter
Hair Spray
Ping-Pong Ball

STEPS

1.) Seal end of the cardboard paper towel core with duct tape.

2.) Poke a small hole in the center of duct tape using knife or scissors.

3.) Slide the grill lighter through the hole in the duct tape.

4.) Slide the lighter back out a little so the duct tape forms a good seal around the lighter.

5.) Spray the hair spray into the tube for two full seconds.

Try not to soak the cardboard.
The gas inside the tube will be ignited later.

6.) Quickly drop the ping-pong ball into the tube. The ball should just fit in the tube.

7.) Hold down the safety of the grill lighter, and pull the trigger to fire off the ball.

It may take a few clicks of the lighter for the gas to ignite.
This is until there is not enough free oxygen in the tube to fuel the flame.

8.) Once the flame sparks, the ball will rocket out of the tube.

Tips

If the ping-pong ball is much smaller than the width of the tube, it won’t sit snug inside and gas won’t be able to build up to launch the ball. If this is the case try using a smaller tube or a larger ball. A good seal is key in making the cannon fire properly.

Three medium-sized strings.
Three stones
Paper
Paper towels

Steps

1.) Gather the materials from "Things You'll Need" with the exception of an enemy.

2.) Cut the towel into three even squares, preferably 3 by 3 inches.

3.) Place a stone in the middle of each of the squares.

4.) Tape a string to each of the stones.

5.) Wrap the towel square around the stone and tape it shut, with the string coming out on one side.

6.) Gather the three stones/string/paper and put them aside.

7.) Cut the paper into a rectangle that's about 10 by 6 inches or as long as you want.

8.) Take the paper and make sure that the long side is on the bottom (length).

9.) Tape the strings of each of the stones about a few inches from each other.

10.) Wrap the paper into a cylinder and tape it shut. You may want to tape the ends shut.

11.) Test it on an enemy and hope (s)he doesn't die.

12.) If it works, you may want to make more (these are cheap, disposable ones and outcome may depend on the quality of the materials).

Tips

Most professional bolas are made from special bola-ish items. If you're that crazy about bolas, try buying one instead of making your own. They might work better.
Try to find light and medium-sized stones that won't snap the strings when you swing them.

Warnings

As with all weapons, use with caution-they might seriously hurt/break someone/something.
If you are in a wilderness survival situation, this is a fast and easy weapon to make, but spend your energy on finding food, and shelter, if you have had no prior training with these, they require more skill than one might think.

How to Make a Zoetrope

A zoetrope works similar to a flip book: if you move many images through a single spot fast enough, it creates the illusion of a single, animated image. Unlike a flip book, though, in which you flip through the pages quickly, a zoetrope rotates the images, which are viewed through a slit. These instructions will show you how to make your own little zoetrope animation.

Things You'll Need

A circular paper box, such as a cheese package (With a top and bottom piece)
Stiff black paper or card
White paper (copy paper)
Marble
Wide masking tape
Marking pen
Pair of scissors
Retractable knife or craft knife

Steps

1.) Start with a circular box or lid. This circular box and its lid could make two zoetropes, or you could make a thaumatrope with the other piece.

2.) Cut a piece of adhesive tape 3-4cm square (about 1.5-2 inches).

You can use a tiny bit of tape to hold the animation strips in place, but try not to unbalance the assembly.
The standard of the package depends on an area, so please customize the size.
If you don't have a marble to hand, a round topped pin pierced through the base of the lid makes a great alternative.

How to make simple Grenade Launcher

Alright, what you are about to make isn't a real grenade launcher. It doesn't shoot grenades, but the ammo used here is much like the Brute Shot in Halo.

Things You'll Need

2 identical tubes, large enough to put a Poland Spring bottle inside them.
Poland Spring bottles.
Tissue Boxes.
Electrical tape, or other strong tape such as duct tape.
Strong scissors.

STEPS

The Ammo

1.) Take your Poland Spring bottle (T is the top, B is the bottom, and W is the wrapping)

2.) Twist the bottle under the wrapping so that it is very tight. Then take your tape and tape it very tightly in such a way that when you release the bottle it doesn't undo it. There you have your first piece of ammo. the more you make, the better, because you can launch them without the gun.

The Gun

1.) Take one of your tubes and cut it from end to end. Cut the tube again leaving 1/2 inch from the first line.

2.) Cut it down the middle.

3.) Again: Space between cuts are 1/2 inch away.

4.) Fold over it and tape well.

5.) Tape off one end of the tube so that nothing can penetrate it.

6.) Cut out a rectangle at the end of your second tube. #This cut on top of the tube should be big enough for the ammo to be dropped in.

7.) Cut out another rectangle on the other end of the tube and below (Make sure you leave one side of the rectangle you're about to cut alone).

You are trying to make a flap, not a hole. Or diagonal from the first rectangular cut.

1. Insert your tube with the taped end into the first tube with the rectangular hole. Take another Poland Spring bottle, and cut it into a funnel, cut the bottom off, and cut the cap part off, for it to looks like a pyramid with a hole on top. Make sure you are able to insert another bottle into the funnel you have made. Make sure the bottle's cap is sticking out of the funnel.

2. tape your funnel securely to the tube. Make sure it is on the end with the rectangular hole, on the bottom.

3. Cut the top of the box and bottom (the largest sides.) of your tissue boxes. # Tape the boxes so they are stacked up high. Leave the highest box's bottom uncut. You just made a magazine for your "grenades."

4. Tape the magazine tightly to the tube.

5. Cut the top of the tissue box so that you can open the top like a flap.| You should be able to insert the bottle in the flap on top of the tissue box.

6. With your magazine loaded, pull the tube with the tapped off end out, and let a bottle fall in the cylinder. Push the bottle forward with the tube into the funnel. Fire the cap as seen above in "HOW TO LAUNCH THEM." Open the flap on the bottom of the tube and let the shell fall out. Close the flap, and pull the tube with the tapped off end, back, so that another bottle falls in place. Repeat and enjoy.

Launching it

1.) Without gun: Hold the bottle firmly and slowly twist the cap until you hear a small hiss. As SOON as you hear it, twist the cap as fast as possible. Make sure you don't have a tight grip on the cap or you will have to slow it down.

2.) You should hear a loud pop and water vapor should be visible giving a smoky effect and the cap can fly anywhere from 20 to 100 ft,

3.) With Gun: When you have the ammo in the funnel, hold it below the cap with one hand and hold the cap with the other. Doing the same method as seen above, hold the tubing under your arm.

Warnings

Don't shoot at people's eyes.
Never shoot animals. While humans know it is only a game, they feel actually like they are in danger. Plus someone could perceive this as you are trying to kill the animal and call law enforcement!
This does not work against the newest razor wire. This is steel with special component so it resists regular explosions.

Make a Portable Soda Grenade

Many grenades and other explosives require lighting a fuse in order to for them to detonate. However, this type of grenade does not need to be lit in order for it work, making it portable and available whenever it is needed.

Things You'll Need

One kinder surprise plastic egg
Baking soda
Cling film
Vinegar
Cellotape
String (15cm)
Pin

Steps

1. Make a hole on the top of the kinder plastic egg with the pin. Most of the eggs already have a hole.

2. Fill the bottom half of the egg 3/4 of the way full with vinegar. Be careful not to spill any. Cover the open end of the bottom half with cling film, leaving some slack in the centre. Now the vinegar should be sealed.

3. Gather the cling film slack in the centre and tie it with the string. When the grenade is complete, pulling the string should break the cling film and allow the soda and vinegar to mix.

4. Feed the top half of the string through the hole in the top of the egg.

5. Heap 2 tbsp of baking soda on the cling film, then close the egg.

6. Cellotape the closed seam shut.

7. Now you will have a sealed egg with some string sticking out of the top. Stick a strip of tape at the base of the string 'pin'. This will stop the gas leaking out of the hole when the soda and vinegar combine.

8. When ready to use, jerk the string 'pin' to break the seal, give the grenade a quick shake and throw. If constructed properly, the grenade should not break into shrapnel, but split along the seam and violently spray the inside mixture outwards.

9. Enjoy your grenade! If you are a budding soldier, carry around at least two grenades with you BB gun when going on patrol or playing.

Tips

Do not seal the seam shut with too much cellotape. This will prevent the grenade from exploding properly and will either rupture or shrapnelise the grenade, so you can't use it again. One layer of cellotape should be enough.
The cling film may look a bit thin, but adding more than one layer will prevent the string 'pin' from wroking properly and it will not allow the components to mix properly.
Make sure you tie the string to the slack securely, otherwise when you pull the string 'pin' the string will just slip off the slack and will result in a dud grenade

Warnings

Do not use indoors or near any living things.
Do not throw the grenade onto a hard surface like tarmac or concrete as this will crack the grenade and release all the gas.
When shaking the grenade, shake it for 1 second otherwise the grenade will explode in you hands. This can be very uncomfortable.

Steps

1.) Take a piece of regular notebook paper and fold it in half hamburger.

2.) Unfold it and draw a line over the crease.

3.) Each player draw a fort on their side of the paper (a half box on the edge of the paper with a flag).

4.) Each player draw five soldiers on their side (stick figures are only allowed if both players use them).

5.) The object of the game is to take out the opponent by "shooting" his players and fort.

6.) During your turn, draw a straight line no longer then 3 inches on your side of the field that you think will touch your opponent's soldiers or fort when the paper is folded over.

7.) Once you have your bullet drawn, fold the paper over.

If it touches an opponent's soldier (head or body; NOT legs or arms), that soldier is destroyed.
If it hits the opponent's fort draw an X or a dot to show that you hit it. After 5 hits the fort is destroyed.

8.) The opponent then takes his turn.

9.) A person wins when all of the other player's soldiers and fort is destroyed.

There has been a lot of commotion as to how to make a paper gun. While this may not turn out as to your liking, this should give you a basis in how to make your own gun. This way you can modify it to your liking. That being said, let's begin shall we?

Things You'll Need

About 7 pieces of paper
1 index card
Scissors

Steps

1.) Get an 8.5 x 11 computer paper (looseleaf paper works fine) and roll that paper so that the diameter is very close to 1 cm. Tape both ends as well as the middle.

2.) Fold each paper lengthwise 3 times.

3.) Take first sheet and fold the paper crosswise. This will be the barrel.

4.) Get the second sheet of paper and fold both ends downwards, forming a 90 degree angle. This will be either the handle or magazine of the gun.

5.) Fold it in the center. This should be aligned so that it fits in your hand.

6.) Hold the handle of the in one hand.

7.) Slide ii in the barrel Do not slide it in all the way, leave about 1 cm sticking out.

8.) Tape or staple the sides. Looking like a gun now, right?

Hornets (or wasps) are folded up pieces of paper that you shoot from rubber bands. If you want to get good aim fast, this will help.
As well as hornets, these projectiles are called many other things.
To save you some time, here are some of the other names they are called: stingers, tacos, missiles, darts, arrows, bees, rounds, tweeties, and shiners (if they are metal).

1. Get lots of regular pieces of printer paper and cut them into strips about 1 inch wide.

2. Fold them in half long ways 2 times. Then fold it short ways once.Then long ways 2 more times.

3. Get a rubber band and stretch them between your index (pointer) finger and thumb.

4. Load them on the half of rubber band closest to your target.

5. Stack 5 pieces of paper so they lay on top of each other.

6. Fold them in half twice so the make a square, and draw a bulls eye on the front.

7. Tape it to a vertical surface, but not a wall because it can leave a mark if you pull it back far enough and miss.

8. Try shooting the target until you get good at it

How to Launch a Water Rocket

Here is a basic way of how to construct and launch a water rocket in a quick and easy way.

Things You'll Need

An empty soda bottle
A cork
A bicycle tyre valve
Water
A bicycle pump or compressor which fits onto the corresponding valve.
A hammer
A pair of pliers
A drill
A drill bit with the same diameter as the valve.
A hack saw

STEP

1. Start off by cutting the cork to its preferred length by cutting it in two. Your piece should be around 2/3 of the length of the threaded part of your valve; which is very often around 1.5 cm (or 5/8 inch).

2. Drill a hole through the exact centre if the cork, which the same diameter as your valve. Use a pair of pliers to secure the cork while drilling.

3. Slam the valve through the hole with the use of a hammer; use a pair of pliers again to secure the cork.

4. Let the valve's inflation side stick out for at least 5mm (or 1/5 inch)

5. Attach fins and a nose cone to the water bottle to increase altitude and stability. This is optional.

6. Launch. You're ready to launch your rocket! Fill the rocket for about 1/3 to 1/4 with tap water.

7. Push the launch system into the nozzle of the rocket with the valve positioned so that you're able to pump air into the rocket.

8. Position the water rocket with the nozzle faced downward onto a makeshift tripod which will leave the rocket positioned with its nose towards the sky. Make sure this is stable.

9. Pressurize the rocket. Do this by attaching a bicycle pump or compressor to the valve first and then start pumping. This may take some time (usually between 5 and 40 seconds, this heavily depends on your pump and rocket size).
