It be raining here in the Jungle... So I feel this weirdly Christmassy outfit works somehow. Otherwise, it does indeed look super odd amidst all the spring like scantily clad bouncy posts of late! These two colors over Chrimbo had me in all sorts of love! Now... not so much, but hey ho... Here we go! Don't ask what a straw hat's doing on my head either... It's an experimental look of sorts! Arn't they all! Hope you are all well and being uber productive n' what not! I appear to be in the calm before the storm that is Disco Pony launch and wedding! Gah! Freedom Fr'Ombre!

A literally expolsive/ flaming session at the hairdressers and TADAA full blown Ombre success-ish!

My ombre fixation started a while ago, back in early 2007 in fact… A time when I knew nada of blogging, online fashionistas and such fancies! Just good old fashioned ASOS! There was a model on there who I was completely enthralled with… I wish I still had the photo I had stashed away as hairspiration to show you! She had this glorious hair all the way down to her perky bottom… With a magical blondness working its way toward her waist… which got subtly darker as it headed further north! SO HOT! I was in love… Thing is, my boyfriend at the time flat out refused to let me do it… I know, I know… what the heck has he got to do with anything?!?! Meh, long story really… I abided… until that is I met Albert! Aka, Love of my life, who basically let me do anything I wanted and loved me for it no matter what! AHHHHH! SO SWEET, do you wanna vom?! Good!

I started the dipping of ends in 2008…and thad the same love hate relationship with it that I would for years!!! I'd always been (see I'D- past) blessed with rather shiny locks, something that I totally took for granted (idiot!) until I dabbled in the cursed bleach! OH THE BLEACH!!!

The Ombre Evolution 2008- Dipping!

After many "I must have my dark shiny hair back again" outbursts, and dying over, cutting and bleaching it again I suddenly found myself opening up every blog to see this was a MUST HAVE hair style for all bloggers... So with that, the bleach was back out baby!! YEAH WOO, HAIRSPIRATION!
I decided after a while to just do it properly in a hairdressers one day mid blog life (I NEVER go to the hairdressers!)... sadly, I had forgotten about my "organic" perm I'd had back in London at uni... woops! This reacted BIG TIME with my newly bleach smothered ends! FIRE was a happnin' I kid you not!!!
Unperplexed due to the length my hair had gotten by then, I just gazed awkwardly into the mirror and hoped that not too much would have to be cut off/fall off!!! It turned out rather well considering the flames and all... however, the dryness began to creep up my once shiny dark locks and bring sadness to my hair! (I'm listening to baroque music right now...this story will just go up and down with whatever comes on classic FM!!!)
When I moved to Hong Kong, it hit an all time low... be it the heat, the condensation...I don't know... all I knew was I was in hair hell!!! Problem was, I've always loved having long locks! I dabbled in little trims, which made me VERY depressed!!!
LUCKILY FOR ME THOUGH!!! Alexa Chung (yep I went there!) looks hot AND has short hair!!! MORE HAIRSPIRATION! Oh god I'm original! I though okay...this is it... I gotta cut this old dead rats nest off! So folks... I got out my pink floral barbor scissors, did not even remove my coat... and after a few CHOP CHOPS and a sink full of ratty bleach hair later I was FREE! And I tell you what... If you too have had it with Ombre Hell Hair... I thoroughly recommend you just do it! We must not be held down by the Ombre!!! Be free, say hello to your hair again!!! HELLO HAIR! I MISSED YOU! If on the other hand you are about to go for it... then do it! You can always chop it off at a later date!!! ;) xx

I thought I'd completely ignore the pastel trend... It's not something I particularly love... It kind of makes me want to vom a little from all the pastely sweetness... but then I put this jacket over this dress, and I was sold- (It won't last)... Violet trousers and I, never shall meet!!!
The weather today has been so beautiful... I always wake up in the bounciest mood on clear sunny Hong Kong days... A healthy way to arise on a Sunday I do believe...especially with my week ahead! Many a late night in le office du Disco shall be a happnin'! Wish me luck! xx

The Casual Thrifter Part 1

Another favorite thrifty find... this shirt goes exceptionally well with something grey and easy... So I wore it twice, with long grey sweats and with short grey sweats! Grey, grey sweaty grey! After my last two weeks of finger bling and necklaces, I've taken to wearing only one piece... my statement Bvulgari mens watch... So heavy one arm is now longer than the other- see above!!! Makes picking up those pesky fallen items a doddle!!! Actually... I live in these sweats in the mornings... (tracksuit bottoms if you are in fact British like me!) I thought I should incorporate them into my blog in a slightly more dressed way, as walking the dog doesn't usually entail a shirt and heels, oh no- More like a big old grey hoodie from Uni, and bed hair! I look like an escaped criminal most mornings in my grey get up! So hot! For that reason, and because a certain somebody, ahem, Karl Lagerfield declared that wearing sweatpants is a sign of defeat... Not sure I agree entirely... I could totally blow your mind Mr L and flip that statement over so hard with a Goldsmiths style intellectual paper simply entitled "The role of semantics in "god damn" fashion".
I feel a lazy sunday essay calling! erm... kinda. I miss being clever.

I'm back baby! Hello Chictopia!

Whipping out the Peacocks again! Oh yeah! This time, I thought a little clash of the animals might be kinda zootastic! We got some Ponies, we got some Peacocks, we got some no hat-hair up action too even! Woah!
My poor sunglasses have been broken for months, I've lost my favorite black cheapo ones like this, and left my Prada swirly replacements at a friends house waaaay back last summer... I'm actually the kind of person who wraps tape around my broken glasses, no shame- dont care, whatever works- hideous I know!!! But I clearly have some because I removed the sticky tape and went without an entire ??? thingamyjig? whats that bit of your sunglasses actually called??? Gah! Weird! Stick thing- for the purpose of this shoot!
I haven't worn my silk Disco Pony shirt enough... It's such a perfect little thing! Neiiigh!

I tell you something... My most delightfully twirl-able skirts have all hailed from the murky depths of my secret Hong Kong thrift shop! I ought to take a picture of my pile (yep- pile, I'm not neat remember) of brightly colored, perfectly pleated, fall-just-where-you-want-them-to thrift shop skirts... They are pretty god damn beautiful! I imagine... if I were to carry them all across a busy road in some sort of flimsy box-type-thing... and I was tragically hit (not that tragically... I'm just being dramatic for the sake of the story okay!!! Touching wood as I type- does Wicker bed count as wood?! yes.) by... lets say a... tram (they go nice and slow!) said skirts would all go flying up in the air, **WOOOSH** colors frantically bursting, polka dots, chiffon, silks all in sweet discomposure, desperate to make their escape... Let us imagine the Hermes scarf scene in The Devil Wears Prada... Minus the foregoing of Paris fashion week and a week in Hospital!!! Let's just say actually that I tripped up... like the escalator incident... whats a few more bruises?!!! Next post... "How to Sport a Black Eye"!!! xx

It's amazing how many bruises I seem to collect! WHERE DO THEY ALL COME FROM?!! I'm almost 100% positive I am not getting into scraps with dangerous street kids in dark ally ways... mainly because erm, there are none here... and secondly (ha) I tend to avoid such activities... Quite aptly for the specific reason that I (Natasha Beddingfield) Bruise easily! The other day I actually fell up the escalators in a vain bid to get out of the station in time to be graciously greeted by my darling who was at that precise moment gliding up to the curb in a taxi...ahem, chariot ready to whisk me home... Point is... I managed to fall up... and bruise and twist just about every part of my being- by the time I had been rescued by myself and one other kind hearted fellow escalator traveller (Thank you universe for ensuring such love!), darling, aka Albert had already gotten out of said chariot, sent it on its way and greeted me not with a rose in the mouth, but with a spectacularly puzzled expression and the words "What happened?!!" when he saw my hobbling twisted outline scurrying toward him from the depths of the underground.
This might explain some of the bruises.
I'll give a prize to anyone who can spot all the bruises in these photos!!! XX Happy V day... even though I think that's a load of tosh... everyday should be a celebration of your love for your loved ones... Forced holidays p*ss me right off! Anarchist.

A Leopard Never Changes it's Dots...

I (being a human-not a leopard) just never change ... full stop- (clothing wise I mean- growing wise, well I like to think I do that a lot!) but for the purpose of blogging- I totally do! All the time!!! ;)
This shirt is strategically tucked in right now... It used to be dress length, but as I so often like to get the scissors out when excessive stretches of fabric start bugging me, it is now an ocean of different wave(y) lengths. aka. Hacked up Zoey style, whereby taking it off my body whilst cutting is deemed totally inappropriate and a total waste of time!
Hong Kong weather is about as sporadic as my shirt hem right now too... Some days totally allowing for this sort of clothing behavior... others...2 or three coats suffice!
I suggest you look away for a few (billion) blog posts if you are over and out, want to vom with the whole jumping photos thing... I despised them with a passion when facebook deemed them the only way to pose for a while... but now things on the jumping scene seem to have cooled down, and I can jump away at my hearts content! Ohh yess! BOINGGGG

Iv'e had this eye-poppingly bright fuchsia pink skirt *WITH some frikin' brilliant POCKETS* rotting silently in my wardrobe since a big summer thrift back in August (for a minute there it thought it had been lovingly rescued from the musky depths of a Mong Kok thirft store, err WRONG- Sorry, pardon!!!)... I've been meaning to whip it out for some time... show it the light of the Hong Kong day n' all... and I too have had this "Who Wore It Best" photo on my laptop since ermmm Octoberish... Now, TMR = the most essential read, a must for all who like to stir up the repell on a daily...of course... However, a bit of a scary prospect when you decide you definitely need that thing she is wearing in order to breathe... yet, rather shockingly when you check where it came from, breathing is not something that happens for a few minutes- at least!
I thought I'd do a cheap-ass thrifty version... consisting of a 10 dollar (1 Euro) skirt, Zara tee, Berskha leather jacket (sale!) and a bit more Zara (zapatos!) aaaaand a vintage temple to topper it off!

Mid Week Bear Date Hula Hooping Interlude!

Why yes! Yes I am! I am also hula-da-hooping myself into a blissful state of childlike wonder too! Problem? I think not! You gotta try this thing- both actually... we don't wear baseball caps enough these days... Thoughts? Serious objections?!!
I like to get up to the roof in the mornings and spin this crazy disco hoop around my belly for as long as my unfitness permits! It's pretty hypnotic... staring out over the ocean, syncing yourself up to the universe with some totally rad harmonious circular movements! I highly recommend it. My Chinese neighbors are utterly entertained on a daily... Weird foreign girl in pj's and oversized puppy dog shape slippers thrusting her hips about about trying not to smack real puppy dog in the eye as he comes to smell 100mph spinning hula hoop!

Hula-hooping your way into happiness... It's a thing... I'm sure of it... If not, well Umgunna make it one! Copywrite (Don't even try it!)

Lets get onto these ridiculously cute-as-erm bears on a date leggings! (Hoping this legging post shall not appear on a thread of enraged legging haters... true story- that may have happened last time! It's fascinating how many people are offended by leggings!!!) A Week In High Tops! Wednesday: Navy Blue & Thrifted Floral

Inspecting for "glue line" evidence after I told him how much I got them for! CUTE!

There is a story behind these shoes! Oh yes! Excited?! You should be!
Clearing throat... ahemmm. Well, Forever 21 opened here in HK a couple of weeks ago... I avoided it for the first few days... but by the third time I strolled casually past (on purpose!) I decided to just grin and bear it (I say- when I was in fact just grinning with antici.......pation)... see if they were as cheap as in the states... as most things here are marked up a billion percent despite the fact that 99.9% of the product is made right here anyway!
... Amidst the swarms of eager Americana wannabeeeeees (I, clearly not one of them!!! haha- clearly!!!) I spotted this sole pair of mega heels... just staring at me, looking all lonely and what not! Once in hand I pretty much hot stepped it for the cashier, grabbing a t-shirt or two on the way...wondering if I had enough moola to pay... Thing was, they only had the American dollar price on them... now, there is a big difference between the American dollar and the HK dollar, let me tell you! In USD they were approx $26... this in HK dollar translates to about $3 US!
Now... fortunately for me... be it a total blonde moment (haha thats quite funny seeing as blonde's are quite few and far between over here!) of the cashiers- or a moment of omfg I cannot deal with any more today (due to heinous swarms of fashion crazed youngsters all desperate for a bargain in newly opened F21!) so I am just going to pretend I do not realise that $26 cannot possibly be the price of these shoes...EVEN THOUGH that cheap ass t-shirt you are purchasing costs about 5 times the price... no, I shall just let you buy them for less than a coffee.
AND SO I DID! I basically robbed Forever 21...and you know what... I was not sad about it... most excited in fact. That there is my tale. I hope you enjoyed it... you probably did, because it was incredibly exciting. I know! ;) xx

A Week In High Tops! Tuesday: The Perfect Tee

Severe pain, or ridiculous excitement?! You decide!!! Tee: Club Monaco, High Toppie tops: Zara, Shoes: I appear to be wearing two different pairs... couldn't decide.. Zara (boots) Asos (wedges) Beagle: MINE! Hat: Market

This might sound a little mad... MADNESS I tell you... but, before last week... I had NEVER, ever witnessed a Club Monaco store! Nope, never... barely even knew what it was! I know... it's astonishing... considering they appear to have gotten hold of the perfect tee pattern, fabric, color secrets... and I do enjoy a good t-shirt! I promptly understood why my ignorance was such a good thing however when I flipped the price tag... WOAH NELLY! I have NEVER, ever in my life (note the repeat here...full circle stuff going on!) spent that much money on a tee shirt... something i could whip up in an instant too (here comes the designer on a forced break issue again)... but the problem is... I tried it on... and I was sold... hooked, gone, done, poor... anything you like! It had to be mine! Nothing beats a good staple tee shirt- maybe a hat/good pants... it's a close one!
I almost had the entire collection in my bag when I left unbeknowingly (sp?!) however- due to Hong Kong sales tactics being a little less reserved- British style, and a little more "you want them all no- even though you keep saying just the grey... I will put them all in and charge you thousands, you will thank me later..."
Sadly my bank account cant hack a collection of anything Club Monaco... but hey... YOU grey Tee are MINE! And I love you!

A Week In High Tops! Monday: Disco Pony

Well, my dedication to the art of hideously depressing pijama-style dressing has finally come to an end!!! HURAAH! (for now any way!) During this MAJOR lul in Disco Pony activity where all collection sampling has been halted, all orders put on hold, everything but paper work locked up in a dark prison awaiting the key that only the Chinese new year end dates hold- so it seems has been my ability to get dressed... until the fated day came that I wore an outfit so hideous to work, that even my beloved fiance, who lets pretty much any tragic hair/face/bum/outfit day pass without so much as an awkward side glance- said something... along the lines of "I don't really notice how badly you dress these days... I guess I've gotten used to it!!!!" Granted, I had just caught sight of myself in a shop window reflection and asked how the hell he thinks it's okay for me to leave the house like this!... I asked for that one!

I decided something, anything had to be done about my M.C Hammer pijama resembling outfit habits of late- so I did the unspeakable... I basically ran like a squatter (for I did resemble one- hmmm, how un pc am i being in saying this?!-quite... not enough to remove it however!) from a police raid to the nearest Zara!!! (If you follow the Disco Pony journey... you will know why that is an act deemed "unspeakable"!) However... I must say, when a girl stops designing for a few weeks, and in turn is no longer surrounded by an array of fabrics and potential wonder makers- Zara becomes quite enticing... I mean, everything is already MADE! It's done! No tailor dramas, no trailing back and forth trying desperately to find that piece of fabric you took a swatch of that no longer exists even though it was the worlds most perfect shirt fabric, no long journeys over boarders, or squatting to pee in holes in the floor mid signing to the tailor that you will be right back... just an easy, peasy, nice clean(ish) shop full of clothes you didn't design (or probably did- but that's a whooole other story right!!!)
ANYWAY! Whilst I frantically searched to find something that would no longer make me feel like i'd been getting dressed out of an old dirty hippy cave in the mornings... I stumbled upon the perfect pair of trouser/legging/super tight high waisted beauties, equipped with buttons! YES!
So, naturally... I have worn nothing but aforementioned trouser things since that fated day- and so shall take you through my week of (said pants) whilst I pretend that I am not wearing them this week too... which I am... They have them in blue too... so next week can be round two- Sailor style... They come with zips also, if your more into the zipped up thigh thing... I am, but sadly don't occupy the (skinny) hips one needs for zippy semi horizontal thighs... you're not bored at all, are you!!?!! xx

There is a story behind this particular piece of silk crepe glory... a story too long and pain staking (I just spellethed that "steaking" and am now hungry) to tell... alas, I made a vow to tell you most truths that go on in this mad old world of fashion and design- my up's and down's, in's and out's, round's n' rounds n' what have you... so I guess I will attempt to tell you the tale of said silk shirt... IF, you would like to hear it!

There once was a beautiful girl named Jasmin who hailed from the divine lands of Australia, Oz, Downunder (ya catch ma drift!)... with skin like milky moca frappa cappa, lips like those you might spy in a "special doctors" office catalogue whilst browsing casually at your next erm... facial re-think... and many other fine ass things a girl might dream of having.
One morning, a letter came through my post box (pftt... ha...) not really... my inbox... how novel would that of been?! RIGHT! Jasmin... take note! ;)
Anyway... the girl needed some Disco in her life... (who doesn't?!) I of course was almost as into that idea as getting mail through the post box! - no, no, I kid, I kid... more even, muchoo more! So I got ON IT, quickady quick, micro chips style! Picking out the softest crepe silks EVER in the world... teaming them with some wicked funky texture silks for the piping and collars... and the dream was born.
Minor little problem... dreams sometimes go AWOL in a big way. Especially mine, most commonly when it comes to my tailor (now ex- how many break ups does a girl have to go through in this industry?!)
I don't think my eyes have been in that really wide, are you effing kidding me state quite so many times in my life than they have been in my Disco venture! (actually that's not that true- but for the sake of this story it totally is!)

My little crepe silk beauties came back but oh-so-delicious for their one on one checking session ... minus correct anatomy... THREE TIMES! Now I'm a pretty patient person (I like to think anyway)- I usually expect new designs to come out slightly wrong... that's normal... but when a girl painst(ooh theres that steak again mmm)akingly draws out the designs, along with fabric swatches and measurements etc... it's just silly...vexatious if you will when things are done backwards, inside out, upside down.... you know the score! WRONG basically.

But enough already... lets get back to the delightful Jasmin. Now, as you know (probably) all Disco Pony pieces are hand made individually to order, and take approx one week to create... so multiply that by three and add a poor patient princess to the equation. Long time right. Yup! After the third go I just kind of died a little inside and sent the girl her pieces! Her special, one of a kind- ever so slightly disfigured pieces! Rest assured people (I can hear you go errr, that's wuuurd) She will get them again, in all their real glory- I just couldn't make her wait any more! It's just mean! Plus, they really are so soft and flowy- I can forgive them their specialness, and so could she. So I love her. And that dear Ponies is the tale (or at least about 20% of it- any more would be telling you too much- and then I'd have to "erase" you! ha!

But folks, doesn't she look so stunning! I want to see more MORE, always MORE!!! :) xx

I say, it's not everyday a girl comes across a pair of leather so utterly butterly soft, n' studs so smooth n' skulls so er skully n' heels so perfectly not high not low n' price the same considering all things above/ aforementioned! SO WHY DO I NOT HAVE THESE LINED UP WITH ALL MY OTHER BATH TUB BEAUTIES I ASK?! That's a good question... one I can only answer with oh, moving countries but a mere 3 times in the past, what now? Who knows...not long... lots of boxes...anyway- what I'm trying to say is... I am finding getting "dressed" but a fleeting nostalgic memory these days... wondering how to walk in anything but my trusted hot pink Nike's. I've made it my new years (Chinese New Years- which started today actually, so I'm right on target here!) resoluuushe to actually start dressing again... the kind where you layer on something that ordinarily might be saved exclusively for curry and Californication night in attire, but which happens to look so cool you feel pretty pleased with your ability to be that warm and THAT FREEKIN VOGUE BABY. That's what I'm talking about! So I've spent a good few days wading through my wardrobe (my floor) and hanging my shit up and re-learning the art of dressing. Then I came across this particular photo and thought... those are the shoes that could get me out of this funk.. back into my old semi strutting ways, waltzing along the pavement (jungle- ( yet another reason for the recent procrasti-fashion slobbery- for snakes care not for fancy footwares and temple topper hats, but more for unsuspecting dogs and bare ankles)) head held high, not shamefully slumped toward the ground.

So, WHY you ask did this particular photo come up? Well... I'm in the middle of planning my wedding (ooooooooo I hear...I hear it!!!) and I suddenly realised mid omgwtf why does anyone do this to themselves- exactly where it might just HAVE to take place... and then... remembering I had actually done a photo shoot there way back when, in the old Barcelonian days (sigh) I quickly waded through my mental blog archive ("shouldn't have taken you long" I hear you say- seeing as I'm the worlds most absent blogger, and (dramatic pause) my weekly post count is actually in the minus right now!) only to find the post this photo belongs too. Then, as you may have guessed came the puzzled look and out loud "What the hell happened to my McQueens?!!! WThaaa?!) Do you know?!
Moral:
